Keys punch themselves iPhone 3G

This happens typically a little after i start my iPhone 3G 16GB in the morning. The keys go crazy and start punching wildly regardless of the app I am using - Mail, Safari, Notes. The keystrokes are so random that it changes my bookmarks, selects addressees, starts voice calls. The only thing that is effective in taming this behavior is the Home key but I end up reseting the phone these days. However, today I got disabled for 60 minutes due to the keys auto punching the wrong passcode several times. Hence this post, I look forward to suggestions.I am using iTunes 8.1 and my iPhone is on Ver 2.2.1 Lenovo Thinkpad X60 Windows XP Pro

Jensen VM9512 software upgrade iPhone

I just got off the phone with the Jensen tech support and they mentioned they had a software upgrade for this car stereo head unit, resolving some of the issues with the iPhone address book transfer and general Bluetooth reliability. Then I was passed on to customer service to discuss how to obtain the upgrade but I ran into a roadblock as they insisted that another department is actually handling this upgrade and I cant talk directly to them, they would forward my request instead and someone would call me back. Oh well ...Has anybody done this upgrade yet? If yes, what are the fixes? Is it worth it jumping through all these hoops? MacBook Pro, 15.3", 4GB RAM Mac OS X (10.5.6)

How will apple be able to tell if my phone damaged from an accident iPhone 3G

Hi, I have various things wrong with my phone. About two months ago the casing of my Iphone 3G had cracks showing on it. I searched it up online and it has happened to numerous other people. So I thought ok I can over look it and still use my phone since it still works great and everything. Then fast forward to about a month ago and my Home button stops working completely, so then I was reduced to restarting my phone to get to the home page until I had the chance to call apple. Then around the same time the Home button stopped working the top silver button on the phone came off!! I could still turn on the phone from where the silver button was. I just had to push down with my nail which wasnt that troubling for me. So now I am at school restarting my phone to go to the home page and when it restarts it tells me i need to connect to Itunes. So then I cannot do anything on the phone till I am home and able to connect the phone to my imac. I connect the phone and it says my Sim card is not in the phone etc. I do all that I can to fix it. I finally call apple which I admit I should have done along time ago but seriously do not have any time during the day. I tell the representative the problem about my sim card and mention my home button. He says my phone should be replaceable and sent me a box to return my phone in for them to either fix it or replace it. I realized after I hung up that I forgot to ask what is accidental damage which is not covered under my warranty. Would that be the silver button falling off (which I forgot to mention) Or would it be the cracks on the white casing? I have only dropped my phone once and am afraid they will find some reason not to replace or fix my phone. Should I stay worried? Any input on if they might fix my phone or not? I sent it off today. static in speaker when making call or receiving one 3G iPhone

I have terrible static on my 3G phone when making or receiving calls. The person on the other end doesnt hear the static, only on my side. Sounds like bacon frying. Anyone else ever experienced this problem? I bought the phone the same time as my wifes and she doesnt have this problem. To buy or not to buy now iPhone 3G

Hi I am actually looking forward to getting myself an iphone 3G. But after surfing the net, i found some site saying that there will be a release of a new iphone model during june. I live in Singapore usually i think the iphone will take a few months before coming over to asia.My question is the rumour true? And is it worth to wait for the new iphone and get that and be an early adopter or stick to the 3g and get the 3.0 OS update?

Great new iphone idea

Hope Apple heads/programmers reads this. It would be nice to have a button to either enable or disable individuals within my contact list, to/from texting me or to out-right disable incoming text from numbers that are not included in my contact list. I really hate when people forward unwanted text to me. This feature would also address the virus, stalker, ex-girlfriend/boyfreind, spam text problem or any other stuff thats unwanted, especially with the new 3.0 upgrade, which includes video,voice(MMS)texting. Most of Apples Iphone users are kids and sexting is a big concern,not to mention paying for unlimited text when I dont really need to. Last, I would love, love to be able delete a single incoming/outgoing/missed phone calls not the whole thing, and I dont need to save it in my contacts just to keep it. Please Apple, these things are pretty standard. Just stop making your customers cry for basic features, especially for those who are on the fence about why they should buy an Iphone with limited capability, even though the Iphone is remarkable and ground-breaking. Potential Iphone buyer

hey everyone im in the market for a new phone and am pretty sure im gonna go with the iphone. i just have a few quick questions first. first off i can only have one ipod synced on my computer at one time. does that mean i wont be able to have both the iphone and the ipod synced to the same computer? i dont want to have to decide between using this computer for one or the other, im hoping to use it for both. but i figured since the phone appears like it uses itunes, that there might be a conflict. in addition, i dont want all the music in my itunes/ipod ending up on my phone. so hopefully that wont be a problem. my other question is basically about the data plan for the iphone. the 30 bucks a month doesnt seem that bad. im hoping this includes unlimited use of apps and the web? i was worried that id be paying for the data plan AND using up minutes while surfing the web or using the apps. but im hoping as long as i pay for the app and pay the data plan fee, that i can use the web and the apps as much as i want. anyone willing to straighten all that out for me? id greatly appreciate it. ive heard nothing but good things about the iphone and im kinda looking forward to getting one as long as theres not a problem with the things ive addressed Windows XP

Hi,I am writting this from Singapore, a country located in Asia.I have a few question that I would like to ask Apple but I dont know where to go, so I come to here hoping somebody from Apple is kind enough to help.1. My iPhone s/n : 888338M41R4, checked from apple website, its still under warranty till 21 August 2009.2. However, Im not the 1st owner of this phone, i bought it from somebody else that I do not know. So I do not have the receipt or what so ever. I thought it would still ok as its still under warranty base on s/n. (I know that Apple is giving the world Most Best customer service, and will do 1 to 1 replacement if the phone is having manufactured defact, heard it from many many people)3. Recently, my phone stop vibrating. No matter how many times i restore the OS from iTunes, it still wont vibrate.4. So, I called Apple customer support. A very very kind lady assisting me and check for me the warranty status and gave me a case no : 1210739055. She approved and told me to do the phone replacement from any Singtel shop in Singapore and even told me to contact apple direct from Singtel shop if having any difficulty.6. I went to Singtel today, and they told me must go to the HQ and gave me a number to call. 7. I called the number to enquire, what a dissapointment!!! They told me that I will need a Original receipt or approval letter from the owner and will defintely need the photocopy of owner IC in oder to have a valid claim.8. Is this the policy of Apple in Singapore? or is this the rules of Singtel?9. How come even the Manufacturer already agreed to do a replacement but Distributor is BLOCKING it?10. Does it mean people who are poor and do not have enought money to sign for the expensive contract line - who trying to save the money for a year just to buy a 2nd iPhone - DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO CLAIM WARRANTY FOR THE DEFFECTIVE PRODUCT???11. What kind of service provider is this? Hello all,I have spent the past 2 hours using the search function trying to identify a fix to the problems I have with my phone, without huge amounts of luck.1) Sound distortionI recently decided to update my iphone with some new music after leaving stuff on there for a couple of months, which involved an update to 2.2.1.Now, this could be related or completely independent but I get a distortion when listening to music through the ipod function.The distortion is not that of crackles, it just sounds odd - imagine Babylon Zoos voice for Spaceman on everything.Now, its not just the new songs this affects (suggesting EQ problems) but its the old stuff which I know for a fact was working fine.I have tried multiple sets of headphones (including buying a new pair as I thought it was those initially), and I get the same issues.Any ideas how to fix, I really dont want to have to do a restore of iPhone for nothing (see below)2. Applications all closingFor some reason my applications keep dropping off and closing, read that should restore to factory settings the phone to correct. I wanted to post something quick here in an attempt to help anyone else with my same problems. I freely admit I have a jailbroken phone, and so perhaps thats part of the problem with the recent syncing problems, but ultimately I have an iPhone 3g 16gb, 2.2.1, and I tried to sync it with the 8.1.x.x and it DID NOT WORK. I constantly had a message of Verifying Prestones iPhone, and it NEVER moved forward. Restore would not work, I could not click anywhere on the page (Photos, Movies, Applications) tabs.My fix:I went to File Hippo and downloaded iTunes 8.0.2, uninstalled 8.1, installed 8.0.2, and when it starts up the first time, youll probably get a message that the library was built by a newer version, if so, when restarting iTunes again, hold shift, and in your iTunes music folder, go into the Previous iTunes Library, and find the most current date. (Most likely dated the date you installed 8.1) It would have copied the old library, just before making a new one for 8.1I hope this helps anyone and everyone. It was a headache for me! GPS satellites or iPhone GPS receiver issue 3G

Hi!During the last week I have been seeing strange activities of my iPhone (2.2.1) GPS receiver. When using Maps, it first triangulates my position using cell sites and shows blue circle, after a minute (sometimes quicker) it locks GPS signal and blue dot appears. Up to here everything seems normal, as used to be before.But then after a few seconds bluish round appears about the blue dot (indicating worse accuracy of the GPS coordinates), a few seconds later bluish round increases, after another moment blue dot disappears and triangulation circle pops back up. After that, sometimes sooner, sometimes later, sometimes never until I restart Maps, the blue dot comes back and disappears again, and so on... All of this takes place outdoors, no tall buildings around.A few days ago I met my friend who also owns iPhone 3G and we have tried to check the GPS together. I was surprised that the GPS coordinates were locked and lost almost simultaneously on both devises.Has anybody of you seen this? What could be the reason for this malfunction? Could it be that some GPS satellite is down, or iPhone GPS receiver is broken? I would not guess that it is weather conditions because it lasts for about a week, and I am sure I got GPS working correctly before even in more cloudy conditions than this week.By the way, I am located in Vilnius, Lithuania. I have bought an iPhone 3G yesterday in T-MOBILE shop in Montenegro. (http://www.apple.com/me/iphone/)When I was trying to activate it on iTunes, my country (MONTENEGRO) was not listed on registration page, so I had to choose YugoslaviaPlease note that Yugoslavia does not exist for 10 years. It has splitted in two countries: Serbia (which is on the list) and Montenegro (which is not listed!!)Can you please add my country on the list?! Hi guys,I notice that both of you are top users in forum and I always read and appreciate your contributions and knowledges. This time I need your help and advice in relation with my iPhone. I have purchased a brand new 3G iphone in Dublin, Ireland (where I currently leave) in November 2008 and was very happy with it until 2 weeks ago when the mic stop working. I ring Apple and they open a repair case for me. UPS came to collect the faulty iPhone and 4 days later I got the replacement. When I opened the parcel, I notice that the replacement unit wasnt sealed and the iPhone was marked with finger print but I didnt really bother as I was too busy to get my new replacement working. But after a couple of days, I realize several issue: 1) The replacement iPhone is a US model (MB048LL)2) The replacement iPhone doesnt want to use 3G3) The replacement iPhone count 28hrs liftime already4) The SIM tray doesnt sit nicely... it has a bit of opening5) The back of the iPhone overeat suspiciously when chargingInitially I did a full restore hoping that the iPhone will use 3G but still no difference. Im so disapointed because when Apple organized the repair case, the agent promise me that I will receive a brand new replacememt but I now beleive that I got a refurbished (and faulty) model again.What should I do? How can I recognize if my iphone is a refurbished one? Is there a way to cheek the manufacture date? I also read somewhere an answer you (Allan) posted about unit replacement... Does anybody have any idea if Apple is working on a new firmware update? Has anyone also heard anything about them working on MMS? Landscape keyboard for sms? The ability to forward sms like EVERY other phone out there? If Adobe has developed a Flash plug-in or plans on it? Back on the MMS thing just because I need to vent :P. As a US iPhone user, I am VERY disappointed that the iphone STILL lacks MMS capabilities in the US. I have been confused about the lack of and wanting MMS since the phone came out. It is supposedly one of the most advanced phones and it lacks one of the basic features even a 20 dollar phone has in it. I know whis would ONLY need a firmware update to enable so why has it not been done? And what makes the UK, sweden, etc so special that they are allowed to use the New App that Allows MMS but the US can not? Why are US users getting the shaft on this? My goal was this: I wanted to have at least one email account with push email (with sound alert, the little unread mail indicator, etc.) entirely in my own domain - both receive and send.Yahoo.com accounts provide push accounts for free, and the setup is easy. But I wanted it in my own domain, like mobile@mydomain.com.And I also wanted to be able to reply to those push emails on my iPhone from my own domain, and not from the yahoo.com domain.Here is how I did it:(1) I created a new account mobile@mydomain.com in my domain and set it to forward to myaccount@yahoo.com.Nothing too unusual here. This accomplishes the part of being able to receive emails in my domain and have Yahoo then push them to the iPhone.(2) Meanwhile, at Yahoo, in account settings I added a new identity with the email address mobile@mydomain.com and did the verification.What this accomplishes is that now I can login to my Yahoo account using either myaccount@yahoo.com or mobile@mydomain.com. Either are considered valid Yahoo IDs now.(3) On the iPhone, when setting up the Yahoo account, I was able to use mobile@mydomain.com for the address instead of myaccount@yahoo.com for the address. This now verifies as a legal Yahoo ID in the setup.So now, when push mail arrives in my iPhone and I reply, the replies automatically come from mobile@mydomain.com. Suggestions for iPhone software updates

Hi, Chris here. I have 3 suggestions that Im sure have been mentioned before. However, how do we make apple aware of these suggestions so that they can look into them and possibly implement them in the future?Here are my 3 ideas.1 - Being able to forward a sms to another phone.2 - Having a small silent symbol in the top menu bar when the phone is in silent mode. (this makes it difficult to forget that your phone is still on silent... like I do all the time)3 - When I receive a sms message at 2am (when I am still sleeping) it will beep. If I dont wake up and get the message, it will be again in a few minutes, and then again, and again, and so on. Can we please have an option to turn this off? Just beep once, and not repeatedly.Hopefully we can get some support behind these ideas and maybe theyll appear in the future. Something tells me I am missing something from a navigation standpoint on the iPhone. Ive been a Microsoft customer for years and have always been puzzled by things on the Apple side such as limited use of a right-click which seemed to lend itself favorably to Microsoft on its devices as well. On seeing the iPhone, I was skeptical at best. Since using it, I have found it amazingly intuitive and far better designed than Microsoft overall. Im still a little confused though. Often I cant figure out how to go back or forward and just in general, I find myself a little bit navigationally challenged by the iPhone particularly in respect to Google maps. Are there any tips/tricks that did not come in the box, that might make my navigational experience overall just a little more pleasant?Dont get me wrong. I am a big Apple fan now and just may end up throwing both our Microsoft laptops out with the bath water in favor of Apple before too much longer. How to restrict 3g network internet on iphone 3g

Hello everybody! I have an iphone 3g and att pay as you go prepaid simcard. As you know, iphone 3g is a totally multimedia device which connects to the internet using 3g network without asking about that. So my iphone spended all $15 on my prepaid simcard in couple of hours while updating weather, mail and stuff. I called att cus.support and explained them my situation, they credited that money back...but thats not the point. A cus.support guy told me that there is no way to restrict iphone using 3g internet. But what do you think about that? Maybe there is existing a some type of application for iphone that could restrict automatic connection to the 3g internet? Or it is impossible and i need to buy another phone for my pay as you go?P.S.: I need to leave an ability to use internet through wifi access point.P.S.S.: Tried to shut off 3g mode in iphone menu, but it didnt helped.Looking forward for your replies! i have an original iphone through at&t. i will be traveling out of the country to different parts of the world more often, including an occasional trip on a cruise. Hi AllJust had an email via my yahoo account to my iphone from the facebook application fun space I clicked link and read the message it look very suspect, bad spellings etc so I obviously didnt click on any of the names of any of my friends it suggested or click continue or indeed forward. Hello guys,I some questions regarding iPhone. Well I have one and love that. The thing is that a friend of mine wishes to buy an iPhone where the apple doesnt have the official store or retailer there. The thing is that there he could find many iPhones but since the fact that the iPhone is locked to carriers, he was willing to go for jail broken ones done by those cellphone traders. Today he called me and explained that there are many iPhones there which they are UNLOCKED FACTORY, meaning Apple has released to some certain counties listed here, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1937 , have this option. It is a little tricky or maybe I donn get it cause if you see the table provided in the link I gave above, there are carriers with their respective countries information with CHECK MARK and WITHOUT it. I have uncertainty about this which, does this really mean if someone buy an iPhone from Greece or Hong Kong (those ones without Check Mark of course), he could use it there or not???On the list, please note the letters as PART NUMBERS. The seller say that these numbers are the proof of what they sell is Unlocked Factory (or officially by Apple) ones.Another thing is that, he had been in one of the shops and got a chance to put his own SIM card to check it works or not. NO JOY! in that shop none of the iPhones worked with his SIM card. As he asked the seller that what is this, the seller has told him that if the iPhone could recognize your SIM card, but doesnt show the signal strength, it might be working and its just not working here (maybe due to least reception from the Carrier). BUT if the iPhone would NOT recognize it, it will show AIRPLANE mode. iphone 3g-no way to charge

Hi. I got an iPhone 3g on ebay. 8gb model. When i got it by mail,i flashed it to 2.2 firmware. Everything was working perfect. Than i forgot to turn off the phone and left it on the shelf for about 2 month. 3 days ago i tryed to power it on - of course it didnt. I have put it to charge from wall outlet for night, using original apple charger. At that time iphone showed me black screen with empty battery in the middle of display with charging flashlight symbol. So i left it for charging. When i woke up i saw that the condition of the phone was same like i left it 8 hours ago - black screen and empty battery symbol with flashlight. I disconnected charger and phone powered off immediately. I started seeking info in the web. I tryed to do hard reset - this didnt helped. Then i decided to replace fully charged battery from another, working iphone 3g. I did it and iphone woke up! What i did at the first time - flashed phone to the newest firmware...for some case. At this point i thought that the problem was with the battery that i left without charge for 2 month. But...Two days passed and second replaced battery needed new charge. So i put the phone on charger - same problem. iPhone wont accumulate the charge.I tryed all types of charging - from wall outlet, dock station, usb cable...but no succsess.I dont know nobody who has or had same issue like i have. I dont know what to do.And also i cant go to apple store, because i bought iphone from ebay and i remover warranty sticker to replace battery.Dear technicians and forum members! i know this question has been ask alot but i dont understand why apple does not have a app for forwarding or mms app. i have heard that people have these apps if they are jailbroke. i think is stupid for people to have to modify there phone to get simple apps to work. apple is a software giant why would they leave such basic apps off when all phones offer this basic apps. i love my iphone but hates i cant forward a message. does anyone know the real reason apple has not released this app or if they are going to release a app for sms forwarding or mms? amd 3800 Windows XP Pro

Do you think we will ever be able to forward texts on the iPhone. In my work I often have to pass on texts to relevant members of staff and have to spend ages typing out what I receive. Its not good for business. Does anybody know anything? I hve completed feedback forms on this. Not sure if they are taken anynotice of though as this has been an issue for many people from day 1 of the original iPhone iphone Windows Vista

Suggestions-2 Useful Features iPhone

1. Macros - maybe you can already do this or there is an app that helps but it would be great to create shortcuts on the home screen for frequently repeated actions. For example, If I routinely go into an application and then tap on 3 or more icons to get to a part of the applicaiton I use frequently then I should be able to create a home screen icon to take me there in one tap.2. Automatic call forwarding - When I get home I always forward my incomming iPhone calls to my home number. That way I dont have to carry my iPhone around the house with me. Since the iPhone knows when it is in range of my wireless home network (with a specific SSID) it should be able to use that fact to automatically forward my calls to my home number. Then when I drive of and am out of range, it automatically un-forwards.I hope the folks at Apple read these posts. Intel Windows XP

Well downloading the new update, I am slightly peeved that they STILL have not included a forward function on text messages.If it can be done on email, why not texts ? Now I know most of us get the joke texts and send them on, so infact it saves you money, but when i need to forward a number or info, i have to write it down and then compose.also, to forward a contact as a text message, pretty basic function on most mobiles !so, I now need a soloution, anyone got one yet ?thanksDan MBP Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Google transit iPhone

Would someone please tell me why Boston MA, the Hubs transit system that is the oldest and fourth largest in the nation (estb 1631), is not on google transit? I was really looking forward to this feature with the new update but was disappointed when Boston was not supported. Does anyone know when, or if it will be available? Also is there anywhere else I should be expressing my disappointment? I know this isnt a posting place, to get things done but I would appreciate some direction and input. Mac, I wish! Not any more! needs help with bluetooth iPhone 3G

Hi,i have a question and hopefully someone of you can help me...Since yesterday i got my iphone and i want to transfer my contacts from my old phone to my iphone. I tried to import the old contacts over the old simcard, but it failed. My next plan was to transfer the contacts via Bluetooth.My old phone (se K8ooi) gets a connection to the iphone via bluetooth, but i get NO connection from my iphone to the K800I ???Am i doing something wrong or is this not possible ??Maybe someone got an other idea how to transfer my contacts to my iphone..thanks in forwardPeter Windows XP
