Hotmail with iPhone 4

Im not very technical-minded and Ive tried to research this on the internet, but there are a load of terms I dont understand, and Im hoping a kind person on here could explain something to me in laymans terms..My boyfriend has an iPhone 4, and a hotmail account. Hes had this email account from the very beginning, and refuses to get rid of it, but it doesnt work beautifully with the phone like my macmail does, and he has to go into his emails to find out if theres a new one, and also if he deletes an email on his phone, it doesnt delete on his hotmail account on the computer. I have read something about gmail letting you forward messages from a hotmail account, does anyone know about this? Horrible Iphone 4 genius bar experience

Hello all,I wanted to share a recent experience I had recently with my Iphone 4, since I have not been able to find a suitable customer service center to speak to. A letter of the situation will be sent to BBB and also Cupertino.About 2 weeks ago my Iphone 4 started malfunctioning, about 2 days after it turned off and never came back on. I went to the local ATT store and they could not help me but I had them forward my calls. They said I had to go the Apple store. The next day I went to the Apple store in Rancho Cucamonga and had a 2 hour wait. Once I finally got to the genius bar there was no attempt to fix the phone, I got the feeling they knew what was wrong and the fix was a new replacement on the spot. I was happy about that, all he did was swap the SIM cards and he said it would activate in a couple of hours.I left on a business trip, and after various calls with Apple and ATT they informed me that at the genius bar they had voided my SIM card instead of activating it. The only way to fix it was to go back to the Apple Store.Yesterday I visited the Apple Store in Brea, California. They informed me that the wait was about 24 hours to which I explained my situation and that all I needed was a new SIM card and re activation (it takes less than 5 Minutes). He said he couldnt help me and I told him that if had to wait that long it would be to return the phone, he said he would get his manager. The Manager turned out to be one of the most insensitive and unprofessional individual I have ever encountered. He did not cared to hear my situation and instructed me to take the next appointment at 6:10 pm the next day, I said I wanted to return the phone immediately. He said that the I would HAVE TO TAKE THE SAME APPOINTMENT TIME TO RETURN THE PHONE! I felt like exploding on him but my 5 year old daughter was next to me and wasnt worth it.I have an appointment tomorrow in Rancho to return the phone. Ive reactivated an old account with a previous carrier and even as I typed this on my Ipad I have such a bad taste for their customer service I feel sick to my stomach. Apple has great products but such arrogance will only make you lose more customers. IPad

Besides having to install/restore on another computer before I could actually do anything... Saddest customer in world iPhone 4

I just bought the iphone 4 and have the same feeling as when I bought the ipod. Apple is exceptionally arrogant, its products are created for people who dont have what to do but spend hours finding out how to use these products. I now have this new mobile phone with absolutely horrible alarm sounds, and there is no straight forward way to change them into some decent ones (e.g. music)!!!!!!! After wasting time in forums, still nothing works and I still dont know how to do it. Thats it, Im tired of this and will never ever buy apple stuff ever again. :(((

iPhone 3G force Restore consequences

Hi all,I bought my iPhone 3G two years back and was really happy with it till yesterday.All of a sudden I see apple logo on my screen. I tried to turn it off by pressing and holding the sleep button, but it didnt work. I tried the Home+Sleep option and switched it off. Then switched on and all I see is apple logo and after few minutes the white processing circle goes on for few seconds and it stops there, but it doesnt go forward to home screen. If I leave it as in this condition, I see the screen flash after few minutes and then the apple logo again. Finally the phone switches off and when I turn it on, I saw the red colored low battery, so charged the phone. The whole above mentioned, is happening since two days. I can only think of force restoring the iPhone now, but was afraid if I lose all the data. I thought of this option to force restore by pressing Home button and hold and plug into my mac, open iTunes, keep holding the home button till I see a message saying - New iPhone discovered, would you like to restore- then press OK. If I do this then does it take my phone back to as when it was bought, and do I have to do all the updates again??????????I have a backup done last week though.All your support will be really thankful as its really difficult to live without my Phone. Eversince iPhone 3gs upgraded to iOS4 i get this annoying popup when making a phone call about actove call forward. If I dont press on the dismiss link it eventually disappears. On next Call inbound the same message comes back, but cant press the dismiss or answer the phone, resulting in miss call. The only way I could resove this was to disable ALL diverts, but since I use my phone for business it is unacceptable to have misscalls and nobody can leave a voicemessage due to the fact that the voicemail divert is no longer active.Also the carrier settings was not upgraded. Now everytime I connect to iTunes I get this message about carrier setting upgrade, which even if I click yes, it happens everytime, even when it is done and i say check for updates, it happen again... I would rather downgrade to 3.1.3, but it would seem as if that is not possible. any help? iphone 3gs iOS 4

why multitasking available for iphone 3g

I was really looking forward to using multitasking option on my iphone. I downloaded the software thinking it would be ok and now find out that g3 iphones can not run this feature why?Ive only had this phone for just over a year ie just before the 3gs come out and all ready my phone is rubbish and out of date as without multitasking it reduces the options on the phone. What I cant understand is why multitasking can not be added to 3g iphones?, this is a bit like last year when the 3gs had video option. Anyone with a bluetooth headset accessory will know that Apples implementation of the AVCRP (Audio/Video Remote Control) profile is deficient. It does not support remote control functions such as fast-forward, fast-rewind, skip back, skip to next, etc. I was hoping that iOS4 would address this. Alas, it did not. I have a Sony BT-100CX BT headset, and it works no better with iOS 4.0 than it did with version 3.1. Attachments Not Opening When Sending to Windows Users iPhone

I have a macbbook pro and iphone 3g. When I receive an email from a windows user; I can see the attachment (i.e.)Jpeg fine on my phone. But 80% of the time when I forward the email to a windows user, the email reaches but the picture does not (they just see and empty pic frame with a tiny cross. If the send the same email from my laptop macbook pro; the windows users are getting my emails fine with the attachments. Is there anything I can do to correct this. Syncing after crashreinstalled HD iPhone

Heres what happened: My hard drive crashed. I got a new one and rather than migrating the old hard drive over, I decided to start fresh and only move what I needed (there were various issues I didnt want to repeat). Hi All,I have an 8GB, 1st Gen Iphone OS 3.1.3. When I first purchased the phone the volumn when receiving calls or making calls was clearly audible via speaker or holding to my ear. Iphone 3G-unlocked

Hi can anyone help shed some light. We bought an iphone from the local Apple shop Pay As You go - O2, and arranged to have it unlocked. Which has been done no problem.We now have a vodafone sim card in it which seems to work ok with calls and text. However when setting up email account and sending / receiving mail it fails saying that its intended for use with O2. Our email account is with Virgin so I thought the setting would be pop.virgin.net and smtp. virgin.net as on my computer but while it can receive sometimes, its not sending. Also IF I was to reset Network settings as the webiste suggests will that reset it back to O2 or back to nothing or what or will that just clear the O2 and allow my Vodafone settings to work.Finally is there anywhere I can get the configurations for Vodafone sent to my iphone ? as you can with other phones ?Looking forward to hearing your suggestions.Liz HP

Ok, so I am a medic currently in Kunduz, Afghanistan. I use my iPhone daily for various and sundry tasks from making and receiving phone calls to patient documentation en route to playing music for working out to. Today when I woke up I found my phone in its cradle, hardlocked.I did a power cycle, and it came back up into an infinite reboot loop. It merely looks as though its booting for a good 5 minutes, and then power cycles itself and begins anew.All the remedies I have been able to find involve downloading new firmware and installing it. I dont want to download new firmware and install it, I merely want my phone to work as it did before I got up this morning.Lest anyone think I am merely being difficult, there are solid logistical problems.1) Apple refuses to use some form of decent/effective download methodology, wherein software/firmware may be resumed if a connection times out. A 250ish MB file is a lot to ask of someone who is deployed in a forward area, and even if we are rather a niche demographic, itd still be nice to support the product. Other vendors seem to be able to do business without such encumbrances.2) I dont want to use the newest firmware, it will reslave my phone to AT&T, which isnt a big deal in the States when Im home, but it kills the functionality entirely when Im here.3) All I want to do, is simply back my phone up from last synch. Thats all, thats it. I just want to utilize the backup I already have. If I cannot do so, then precisely what is the point of having the disk space taken up?If anyone has any idea as to how I can fix this problem without having to download a 250MB file, I would be most grateful if theyd share the information with me. iPhone 3G 8gb Crashed and Wont Restart

Hello all,I havent seen any threads replicating my problem, so Im going to go ahead and post this.My iPhone worked perfectly until Saturday, when apps started randomly disappearing from the home screen after an App Store update. I was able to reinstall them and thought the problem was just an odd glitch. Fast forward to today, the phone was charging and syncing to the computer and I ejected and unplugged it when finished. An hour or so later, I went to use the iPod app and it wouldnt start. Logically, I restarted the phone since its basically a computer, thinking that would fix it. Now the phone will go to the Apple logo, sit for ten seconds, then shut back off. I tried plugging it into my computer, but it isnt recognized since it cant power on.The phone is two months old (refurb), has no liquid damage, its in a shock-absorbing case, and Im the only one to use it. Pressing Hold + Home for 10+ seconds does nothing. The phone still shuts off before loading the OS.Any help is appreciated, since Id REALLY like my phone back. 3G 8GB iPhone OS 3.1.3

iPhone 3.1.3 software version - iPod functionality missing

Over the weekend I installed iTunes 9.1 and upgraded the iPhone 3GS to the 3.1.3 software version provided with iTunes 9.1.Ever since I've been missing iPod functionality while playing songs or listening to audio books.I appear to no longer find the „genius“ functionality which I used to see associated to every song when listening to one. I also am no longer able to scroll forward within a song or an audio book to a specific time. There used to be this „bar“ at the top underneath the title, or just above that I was able to scroll forward on. And there used to be the possibility to repeat a song 1x or even 2x or endlessly I am not seeing that anymore either. Was there not also the shuffle functionality within a playlist. Well, I am not seeing this anymore either. Where did this functionality go? I have not found any system setting to control what it is I am missing.... any ideas?

The problem was that it didnt show which messages I sent and which were received. syncing outlook and iphone 3G changes birtdates one day forward in outlook.

Approximately every 2-4 months my birth-dates within my contacts of my iphone and outlook get arbitrarily changed by exactly one day forward. today I upgraded to v3.1.3 on my iphone 3G and then did a routine sync. After the sync I got a Conflict Resolver message informing me of (34) conflicts. The resolver gave me the option of deciding which conflict to accept vs override from my iphone vs outlook. the outlook versions were ALL off by (one day) forward. Luckily this time it gave me the option to make a choice of the correct dates and override the erroneous dates. In the past the dates were modified without giving me the option. Hi,I had a Nokia E71 where an incoming call had an arrow to show that the call has been forwarded from my work phone.Can Apple implement this? It would be a great feature. Dear all, I have purchased MacBook Pro for almost a year but have just newly purchased my iPhone. For MacBook Pro, I learned from Discussion forum that the best practice for charging MacBook is to keep connect AC power to it as MacBook battery management will know stop charging when the battery was fully charged.For iPhone, it has the similar battery design as MacBook Pro, where you cannot replace your battery like other ordinary cell phone. Therefore basically you have to charge your iPhone every day because those apps would exhaust power in a faster rate than ordinary cell phone.If so, as a best practice, should I always wait until the iPhone used up all battery before charging it?As a best practice, whenever the iphone has been charged up to 100%, should I keep connecting the AC power supply to iPhone so as to keep 100% battery power level, before I have to relocate iPhone to somewhere without AC power supply?Have you ever used any portable backup battery? Would it be a good idea to always connect iPhone? Or should I only connect it when it is available? PLEASE HELP How I back up entire contents of my iPhone onto 2nd PC 3G

My iphone screen is broken and I need to send it to the insurance company for repairs. The insurance company has told me I need to back up the information as they cant guarantee that I will receive the same phone back and data on the phone may be lost. The problem is that my PC with my iTunes library on it has been broken for a few months so I cant back the phone up. There is a **** of a lot of data on here (contacts, notes, text message threads, applications etc.) that I really do not want to risk losing. How to Divert Incoming Call to Voicemail iPhone

When my phone is locked and I receive a call, there doesnt seem to be a way to divert it to voicemail. The only option seems to be to slide the slider to the right which automatically answers the call. The only other option is to let it keep ringing until it rolls to voicemail on its own. Call Forwarding doesnt save prior numbers or allow selection from Contacts iPhone

Hello All,My first post on this forum ...Ive searched but havent found anything prior on this topic.I can forward calls from my iPhone, but I have to type in the whole number unless its the one I last used. This is primitive usability. It should have an option to search contacts to choose a number from there, or at least remember the last several numbers entered. No positiontracking bar in iPod app iPhone 3G

Recently (perhaps after upgrading to 3.1.3?), I noticed that there is no tracking/position bar in the iPod app. Not so problematic with music, but with podcasts it would really help to know how many minutes Im in and how many I have left. Actually, the more I think about it, its SUPER irritating...holding down the fast-forward button to get through 48 minutes of a podcast? No thanks.Anyone notice anything similar? Phone wont ring iPhone 3G

Hi - I recently had my iphone replaced and the ringer wont work, it only vibrate. The switch on the top left is pushed forward (therefore no orange dot showing). I can hear the sample ring tones when I go into settings and all my other settings seem to be fine. Also, somewhat odd, when I turn the switch on the top left side of the phone to vibrate just to see what happens it goes on silent even though my phone settings have it to vibrate when it is on silent. I have tried to restore the phone, restore the settings etc. Anyone have any guesses?? I was hoping to not have to go in again to the genius bar. Thanks! 3G

Voicemail features iPhone
