Hi, I purchased an iPhone 5 back in February from an Apple store. Worked absolutely fine until now, where some software issue are appearing; The battery drains ridiculously fast even when Features are disabled (i.e. location services, 3G when not needed), and also the home button some time has a lag when exiting apps. This has been bothering me now, but there is a slight blemish on the phone near the earphone jack... would Apple dismiss a replacement and ask for a charge, even though it's 3 months old?

Hi there, Im scott, I dont own an iphone so know nothing whatsoever about them. this is our issue pls help :   My sister purchased an iphone 4 from a woman at her work. Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... '  I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue.  My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ?  Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i?   My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and Features iphone offers. Iphone 5 was stolen

im 2 months into my 24 month contract no insurance as i thought the house insurance covered it but they dont as the phone was stolen from work. So im stuck with a contract for a phone i dont have that some guy now has for free..... I have been using the find my iphone app but it has been offline since? they turned the phone off straight away (as any thief would do)After doing some research i came to know that the find my iphone app doesnt work if the phone has been switched off?  Ive reported the theft to police they have CCTV footage but cant track the theives! Isnt there anything that can be done other fork out for a new phone?! I dont understand why an app would be made that does half the job? obviously the first thing a thief would do is turn the phone off? And ive even found out that if they plug the phone into itunes they can jus wipe the handset not impressed. We pay so much for these handsets yet there not even upto scratch with security Features. (overpriced? definatley) You would think that with all these updates they come up with they would have done something for the security and tracking. Im disappointed with the what i have found.

Airplay Mirroring and HBO Go Audio Problems iPhone 3G

Hi folks,  Great news a month ago about HBO Go's support of Airplay in-app. However, whenever I try to stream content to my Apple TV, I only receive video. I'm using the latest Apple TV firmware (5.2.1) and an iPhone 4s with 6.1.3. Oddly enough the HBO "Intro" video standard on this application will stream with audio, but main Features never have audio. Likewise, Other applications supporting Airplay (Youtube, etc.) will successfully stream both video and audio to the Apple TV. Any idea what's going on? Thanks so much!

New Facebook Update Not Working iPhone 4

A few weeks ago I updated to the new fb chat head feature on my iPhone 4 and it worked perfectly. However, the next day I got another update for the sticker feature, but after updating to this addition neither Features appeared. The new fb was present, but my chat head feature was no longer there and no stickers either! Facebook chat just appeared like it did before I updated any of it, but the other aspects (e.g. news feed, etc.) are updated. Does anyone know how this happened and what can I do to fix it?

New Podcasts app-now no speed control iPhone 3G

This morning, I updated to the newest Podcast app (version 1.2.1), as well as the newest iOS version (6.1.3). Now my Podcasts app doesn't have speed control! I read a review online that said it's supposed to look like this: But instead, mine looks like this, without all the Features at the top:  Am I missing something? Is there a way to customize it to show all those things at the top? Or did the new updates break something? Please help, since the speed option is the single most useful feature of Podcasts! Thanks

Playback marker speed control missing in last 2 updates iPhone 3G

Whatever problems the old app had, at least it allowed me to speed up or slow down the playback, as well as let me see how far along I was in listening. This new & improved Podcast app - while thankfully devoid of pointless animation - seems not to have these Features any longer. I've downloaded the latest update (that makes 2 including when it lost these functions) & can find nothing in the app or in setting that restores them. I've also restarted the app, as well as the phone itself, with no change. Anyone know what's going on? Did Apple drop these Features intentionally? If so, that's a huge problem for me. Thanks

My iPhone 5 GPS not track location as closely as of my previous iPhone s

I've been using Nike+ GPS since it came out on my iPhone 3GS, then 4S, and now most recently my iPhone 5. I have been running the same route for years, but I noticed the iPhone 5 was recording a slightly shorter run (not much just about 0.05 to 0.1 mile). When I looked at the map view of my running route it was obvious that the iPhone 5 was not picking up the final few 100 feet of my run where I get to the end of the path and turn around to go back the same way. I compared it to the map records on Nike of the same route I've been running forever and those route traces clearly show the right end point compared other Features on the map. So today I tried something else: I ran to the end point of my route and then paused my run and stood in place for 30 seconds and then restarted the run going back. This time when I got home the Nike+ route map showed exactly the right endpoint and the total mileage was correct. So it looks like Apple did something bad with the either the iPhone 5 GPS system probably to conserve battery life. It must only ping the location every X seconds, so if you are on a route and turn around it's going to miss the end point of your route unless you are lucky enough to hit that location at the same time the GPS pings. Note I'm quite sure I ran the most recent iOS on my iPhone 4S before upgrading phones so I don't think this is an iOS or Nike+ problem. I do not claim to understand the details of how the iPhone GPS calculates position (I think it is also supposed to use an accelerometer for error checking and refinement), but the iPhone 5 GPS location is clearly a downgrade from the iPhone 4S. ThxEd

After downloading iOS 6 on my new iPhone 5 both FaceTime and iMessage app icons have disappeared yet if you go into settings they are both still turned on I have searched my full device to find these apps and nothing has showed up. How I get them

Hi. Right now I have an iPhone 3GS, and since I have some spare money I'm considering buying a new phone. I think since I already have an iPhone, I might aswell get a new one. But I don't know which to buy. I don't want to buy a phone which has tonnes of stuff I don't need or has nothing at all on it I need. My options are iPhone 4S or 5. I'm not sure about 4 because the network issues and it's overall just an old phone. The 4S is a good phone, as most of the people I know have it, and it's got most of the things I need, but I'm not sure if the iPhone 5 is worth it because most of the new Features are included in iOS 6, other than 4G LTE. Please help, because if I buy the wrong phone I will have a problem on my hands.  PS. Incase this helps, right now I have the iPad mini, iPhone 3GS, Macbook Pro 13inch 2.6Ghz mid-2010, iPod shuffle 4th generation and iPod touch 2nd generation.

I know the apps store will not give me an old version,that is why i do not use my Mac or iMac to replace the application however this has also been updated on my Macs. I reiterated in my message yesterday that,it is not that what you asked me to do is not working or i did not follow your instructions into details. I have an iPhone 4S running iOS six  like IOS six but for my job I need Street view. I can't get Street view on the new iOS six so I think  the option of downgrading to iOS 5.1.1 which was one of the biggest Features of the iPhone 4S when it first came out should be available without having to jailbreak your phone or whatever. Please I need iOS 5.1.1 now. I am having to Borrow my friends slow slow computer for Street view On Google earth. Sim Applications not found on Iphone 5.I had my old Iphone 4S and when I go to Settings>Phone> , I can see "sim applications" where I can access the Sim Features of the carries.When I bought the new Iphone5, Sim Applications cannot be found on the same path above.Is there a fix for this?

Maps Yelp update iPhone 3G

Hello. As we all know Apple uses Yelp to add locations on the Maps app and 2 months ago Turkey became the 20th country to use Yelp. The Maps app hasn't been updated for a long time and there are still many big mistakes for locations in Turkey, nothing has been corrected for a long time. I'm just wondering when Apple will update the Maps app and integrate Yelp into Turkey. It's very interesting how Apple hasn't tried improving their map system while all the necessary information is already provided by Yelp. Will the new ios update have these new Features?

Hi every one, I saw many topics regarding battery problems with the iPhone 5. I responded to one discussion describing what I did to solve the iPhone 5 battery dying fast on me. So I thought I'd make a discussion here to help out other users with the same problem.  I would have 25-30% drop with in the hour and all I did was text a couple of my friends. I was using an iPhone 4 for the longest time, and on that phone I was able to watch videos, listen to music and use all the other Features of the phone. The battery still lasted me the whole day, I was getting  worried that I wouldn't be able to use the iPhone 5 the same with out it dying on me fast. My friend suggested draining the battery and then charging the phone to see if any improvements were seen. I did that and I saw a small change in the battery strength. I drained the battery two more times, and that is when I saw a huge difference. I use my Phone as my iPod when I work out, and I run continuous music on it for 1.5-2 hours straight, along with sending texts to my friends. In this duration I would only use 15-20% which was a huge improvement from before. I would say that the battery life was on par with my iPhone 4 battery! It is such a relief, now I can use my iPhone 5 to it's fullest potential without having to worry it'll die on me fast. I recommend other iPhone 5 users try draining their batteries a couple of times before charging as well if they are experiencing problems.  Hope this helps!Dylan

Hi Please could someone help as am finding trying to update my iPhone 4s the most frustrating experience!!I did not know I had to update the phone so went on iTunes, downloaded the latest version and triedto update software on my phone... No where on iTunes is there somewhere I can click to update, my phone does not show up anywhere. I also can't just go into settings on my phone and go to general as the option to update isn't on the phone... iOS 6 Bug with Facebook events in Calendar iPhone 3G

So I'm not really sure what to do with this information so I'm putting it here. Just updated to iOS 6 (flawless install) and was playing around with the new Features when I came across something extremely odd. In the official calendar app, you can now see Facebook events that you have been invited to within the calendar itself. Upon opening them, you can see info about the event with a button at the very bottom that says "View on Facebook." This is really cool, but therein lies my dilemma., When I select "View on Facebook," my iPhone automatically launches a game I have installed called "Supersonic" (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/supersonic/id431087511?mt=8). I have tried this on multiple events on the calendar and the result is the same. When I click the button, it launches Supersonic. Only developers can log bugs with Apple, and thus I am here on the forum talking about it. It seems like a pretty big bug, but I'd imagine that it would only happen to those with Supersonic installed on their device. I guess I'm curious if anyone else might be able to replicate this issue (the app is free and it's actually pretty fun). Also if anyone has suggestions about what to do with this info, I'm listening. Thanks!

Iphone 5 purchase through Verizon

Assuming that all iPhones5 are the same from all carriers, I purchased a new phone and did an upgrade from my iPhone4 to iPhone5 without looking first what was new on the iPhone5. Since I had already had IOS 6 running on my iPhone4, what am I missing in terms of new Features on the iPhone5? Everything looks the same with the exception of apple maps (which does not work well) and Siri. Any new ringtones and wallpapers?

significant difference between iPhone 4 and 4S battery life

     Recently, I decided to upgrade from a basic phone to a smart phone. I decided to either get the iPhone 4S or the iPhone 4. Overall, I want the 4S due to its better Features. Yet there is one thing that worries me, the battery life. Everyone says that the battery life is worse on the 4S. How much of a difference is there in the battery life? I would use my 4S A LOT throughout the day. I am a heavy user, but most of it would be on wifi and texting. I need my phone to last me a good amount of time, I do not want to constantly worry about it dying on me. Is the battery life so bad on the 4S that I should consider the 4? I need to have a decent battery life! Would the 4S last me all day?

iPhone 4S battery iOS 6.0.1

Updated my 4S to 601 last week. But the past two days the phone has been eating battery like nobody's business. It's charged at night, to 100% then hardly used while I work so when i leave work the percentage is usually about 74/75% but its been getting down to 20/10 percent. Yesterday it got all the way down to 2%.Have a genius appointment on Tuesday. But was wondering if anyone had any tips other than the usual suspects ie closing apps turning off Features restore etc. or if anyone thinks it could be the iOS? Thanks in advance..

upgrading to iphone 4 without data plan

Hoping anyone can answer this question: A few years ago, I bought my wife an iphone 3g on ebay because she wanted an iphone and many of the Features, but not the monthly data plan.  So we swapped SIM cards and she was good to go.  She's had an iPhone without a data plan for almost 3 years now. I want to upgrade her to the iPhone 4 and want to continue without the data plan.  Does anyone know what will happen if I buy her a new one and set it up as a backup of her current phone?  Will she still be without the data plan.  Or do i need to cut her curreny sim card to fit it into the phone? Thanks, Bryan

Question concerning an iphone 5 demo unit.

Hello, i own a iphone 5 demo unit (MD670CM), it came pre-installed with some crapware from apple like photos and contacts and couple of programms.As i owned an iphone 4s demo unit, that came with the crapware installed, i found that a restore of that device would bring the device back to its retail state.The iphone 5 is something different though. I updated to 6.0.1 and i couldnt install any 6.0.1 out there, only the one from the itunes restore button. After that i thought i was ok but there is more to it. When i have the phone to lock in x minutes, when that x minute comes, it wont turn off and go to stand-by, but it would play a screensaver saying IPHONE5 all the time, thus making the phone use the screen all time. Also some Features from the settings tab are missing, such as the reset tab ( to reset the phone to defaults or to reset the network values ). Also i cant move icons around, except i do it from itunes itself.  Now my question is, will i be able to turn it into a retail device or should i actually sell it and get a retail device ?

Hi everyone I just picked up an iPhone 5 today to see if there were any special Features that every other iPhone has not got. (Sadly I am disappointed in that but still a great phone!) I am wondering since it has been a month or so since the new iOS has been released. Will there be any enhancements to the Do Not Disturb feature? The Ability to ignore all texts and calls from a specific person? Sort of like what the Driod can do? Send a text message to people who call you when you got DND on ? Sort of like what the Driod can do?  I believe these Features are sorely missed and needed. Not sure if anything has been announced or there has been talk about thing to be added. Please let me know.

Connecting iPhone 5 to Dual-Band AirPort Express

Now that the iPhone 5 can connect to a Dual-Band 802.11n network, I went out and bought a new AirPort Express that supports broadcasting at both 2.4GHz and 5GHz.  I tested out connecting my iPhone 5 individually to the 2.4GHz network and the 5GHz network I created, and 5GHz seems much faster. The question is... how do I connect the "Dual-Band" way the iPhone 5 "Features" page talks about?  Does the AirPort Express support connecting to both frequencies at the same time?  I'm fine with connecting to the 5GHz network because it's still plenty fast, but how do I connect the "Dual-Band" way?

iPhone 5 iOS6 Battery Drain Experience Initial when I first got my iPhone 5 I was pretty happy with the battery life on it, I thought nice it lasts a decent amount of time. Typical usage was surfing the net, listen to some music and check my email. My trouble began is when I changed my contract to a new supplier with LTE and an unlimited data plan, this is when I went into my settings and turned on iCloud and LTE. The following morning I unplugged my phone and went to work, normally my battery would easily last all day with 40% ish left, within 5 hours I was down to 12%. Not good luckily I had ordered another power cable from Apple and it had arrived just in time! Anyway through trial /error and spendings a lot of time on the web I have finally solved my battery drain issue, below is a summary of the troubles with my previous setup!  NOTE: Within “Settings / General / About / Diagnostics & Usage / Diagnostics & Usage Data” contains your crash logs, if you are experiencing battery issues then you should have some crash logs in here! This was the key to fixing my battery issues.TIP: Crash logs can also be found on your computer:http://support.polkast.com/entries/20647357-where-can-i-find-crash-logs-for-my-i os-devices-ipad-ipod-iphone Okay the:1.Big Battery Drainers - dataaccessd process  – My crash log contained about multiple “dataaccessd” There are numerous threads on this issue on the web and numerous fixes. It’s basically linked to the Exchange server calendar: I performed a full reset.Switched my exchange account from “push” to “manual”, I haven’t seen a crash log on this anymore (7 days now). https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2145413?start=0&tstart=0 MobileMail process – Additional to my work exchanger server email I also have yahoo and gmail mail on my iPhone, I never really found out what this was exactly related to but my fix was to have some common sense:I turned off “Contacts / Calenders / Reminders / Notes” on my yahoo / gmail accounts and only used the iCloud ones, I believe there was some interference/clash of some sort and only using “Contacts / Calenders / Reminders / Notes” from one source helped me resolve the MobileMail process issue.Switched my yahoo / gmail accounts “push” to “manual” also, I believe “Fetch” causes no issue either.     iCloud Issues – Swtiching on iCloud on its own wasn’t really the issue, I have all the options on and with push settings without much battery drain. But when I reviewed my crash logs I found another two crash processes “PocketPlanes” / “Toshl”, these are two of the apps have backup to iCloud options enabled automatically and it seems they were trying to backup all day!I simply disabled there iCloud backup or limited the backup to occur when wi-fi was available.  2. Medium Battery Drainer – LTE – Super fast connection but my office seems to be in an area that causes my iPhone to continuously switch between LTE and 3G networks, this I noticed was causing a drain on my battery.Switch LTE off if you note the switching issue, it’s not really needed when your phone is in standby. Switch it back on if you want to use the full speed.   3. Other Battery Drainers – These are further tweaks I found useful and have made some difference to battery life:Settings / Wi-Fi – Some noticeable gains with this turned off while no Wi-Fi is around.Settings / Bluetooth – This was switched on automatically on my iPhone from factory, switch on only when you need it.Settings / General / About / Diagnostics & Usage / Diagnostics & Usage Data – “Don’t Send” ticked, this would save you data and power.Settings / Location Services – I have most of these ticked “On”, only one I have “Off” is passbook. I don’t have many passbook items and the ones I have self-generated seems to keep triggering the location services program to keep pinging my location every time I unlock the phone. This is not needed so I’ve turned it to “Off”.Settings / Location Services / System Services – I’ve turned most of the options to “Off”, I found that each process had ran at least once in the last 24 hours and they are all basically collecting information for apple and not really enriching the experience for the user. Once you’ve gone through the list you will see the location services arrow a lot less! If you want to found out more I would suggest search the web for each option, it was interesting reading.  After resolving all the above issues and doing some minor tweaks I have an iPhone that has very good battery life and does not have itsmain Features (iCloud / Location Services) disabled to a point where its not really a smart phone anymore! The key to resolving your battery issues revolve around your crash logs! Hope this helps people resolve their battery issues!

Constantly have to reset network settings on iphone 5

So is there something wrong with my phone? Do I need to have it replaced? I am constantly having to "reset network settings" to get Features to work.  I notice it occasionally loses service. I notice that often it will not let me send SMS text messages, especially picture texts. I notice that I am often not receiving voicemails.  How am I supposed to know if I have a voicemail if I have to reset the network settings to get the voicemail to come through? All of the above are temporarily fixed when I go settings > general > reset > reset network settings I have verizon. I work in the same office and live in the same house. I have had an iphone 4 for 2 or 3 years now with no problems. Nothing about any of my locations has changed. All I did was upgrade to the iphone 5. What should I do? Any ideas? I shouldn't have to reset network settings that often. Can I take my phone to an apple store and just swap it out with a new one? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help!David

Iphone 5 rattle

I've notice that my phone has developed a rattling sound towards the top of the unit. Its as it a screw (or something) is moving around in side or coming loose. I dont think this is one of the listed Features of the phone but i can't compare it with my friends as they have  not got the iphone5 yet. I dont think it is causing any issues with regards to the phone functioning but it is becoming annoying.  Jonny

No that is not correct.I restored a backup from my iPhone 4 to my iPhone 5 and it worked perfectly and the new Features work fine.It does not restore the OS, just your data, etc.

iPhone 5 Distorted Video Recording and Screen Flicker

Love most of the new iPhone 5 Features and the speed on LTE service is amazing.  However, my brand new iPhone 5 64GB seems to be having some issues.  Two main issues.   One is an occasional screen flicker consisting of 3 to 5 horizontal black or dark colored lines.  This is located at a point approximately 1/3 of the screen up from the bottom and running from the left edge of the screen to approximately the center of the screen.  The flickering lines are brief and occassional, but deffinately a concern. The other main issue is with video recording.  I've attended a couple of concerts/shows in the last week.  I used my iPhone 5 to capture a few video clips to share w/ friends etc.  The recorded videos have brief moments of light to moderate, easily visible video distortion.  There's a horizontal distorted digital shaking running the full video width, approximately 1/4-1/3 of the screem and mostly in the center of the video image.  It's not related to playback on the sceen itself, but it is the quality of the video recorded.  I downloaded the videos to my computer and they play with the same video distortion as they do on the phone.  I had previously been impressed with the video qaulity on my 4S.  Perhaps issues with over active "improved video stabilization"?  Aside from those things all else seems to be good minus some occassional delayed touch responses and seemingly delayed photo opening to view from text messaging. Hardware?  Software?  Bottome line, are these issues that may be resolved in a future Apple iPhone 5 / iOS 6 update or must I get back in line and try to get a new replacemnt phone?

After downloading/ upgrading to IOS 6, several Features do not work properly; the sms text/ keyboard does not function as previously, it duplicates letters and functions or commands. Is this happening generally, and can itbe fixed?Can we go back to IOS 5?PS. the maps are crap.

I have received a software update notification. Currently I am having an iPhone 4 with IOS 5.1.1 installed. It works fin but at some point after i attend some call it gets blank, then i need to lock the screen & unlock it to get the home page. In case I upgrade my phone to IOS 6 will all the Features work on my iPhone4? If it doesn't then how can i degrade the software to the older version? Please I need help.

iOS 6 on 3GS Dismal Battery Life iPhone 3G

Since updating to iOS 6 last week, my 3GS has turned into a mess.  Battery life has gone from quite good to dismal. I have tried to figure out why the battery is going flat within just a few hours with minimal use, where on 5.1.1 it lasted for days. Many of the so called Features of iOS 6 have been stripped back to minimal or no value at all.  Maps does not include 3D on the 3GS and it is certainly not near as good as Google Maps was.  ViIP in email does not appear to work properly.  There are a myriad of other issues, but the main issue is battery life is absolutely a mess. Can I move this back to 5.1.1?  Apple Genius said they could not revert it for me and would only offer to sell me a new 3GS which they say still has 5.1.1 on it, but I am not sure if that will allow me to get my applications on it and keep the old system software.  I tried to restore back to 5.1.1, but it would not allow me to go backwards. iOS 6 is a mess on the 3GS.  Please offer help.  I really regret this update big time.

I Have A iPhone 4 8GB Capacity. Will The iOS6 Really Take 2.5 Space Of Memory Away From My iPhone? Because I Just Restored My iPhone Before The iOS6 Release In Preperation For This iOS. My iPhone Real Capacity Is Really 6.16GB, Therefore This Update Will Make Me Only Have Somewhere Around 3GBs Of Space Left????
