Is it possible to set the iPhone to automatically not vibrate while docked? I like to have the ringer on vibrate+ring while Im carrying around the phone as I cannot always hear it while its in my pocket.However, when I dock the phone to my speakers at home for charging/listening it continues to vibrate whenever it gets a call or email/notification. Im afraid that this constant vibration will damage the docking connector.However, I dont want to have to remember to always turn off the vibrate option whenever I dock the phone, and then remember to turn it back on when I undock it.Thanks! iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.0

Music Wont SyncFiles Start Disappearing iPhone 3G

I have an iPhone 3G 16GB with 3.0 and a new iMac with Leopard 10.5.7. Lately I have been having issues, when I sync my iPhone with iTunes it gives me an error saying iPhone not authorized. Then when I go to play a song in iTunes, they all say Locate. When I go to my External Hard Drive where they are stored, the files are all missing. My hard drive still shows the same amount of space free but the files/folders are missing. If I unplug my iPhone and restart my iMac the files are there again and I can play my iTunes music but if I plug the iPhone back in, the issues presents itself again....How can I fix this? Bummer-have I bricked my 3G by stopping remote wipe iPhone

When I set up my yahoo account on my 3GS phone it would take 15 minutes to an hour to get my emails. I found the solution. Go to settings...mail...email account...outgoing mail server SMPT...turn ALL the servers to ON. My other servers including AT&T where turned to OFF.Once I made this change, I powered down and back on. All my emails are coming through in seconds instead of hours. I was using the iMail app for forwarding emails to comtact groups. Before 3.0 the app worked like a charm and really saved time not having to select all the email addresses to forward emails to. Now, it doesnt seem to work, so Im wondering if anyone knows of any other app that works like this or any other way to forward emails to groups?

However, Ive been looking for a way to reference a frequently used group of people (and an easy way to edit that group, if it should change) to send a text message to all those people instead of having to scroll through my text messaging history to find the exact recipient list I am looking for.A good analogy would be something like an email alias, but for text messaging.E.g. Say I have a group of friends that I always like to play basketball with - lets call them Ray, Bryan, David and Jeff (could be more, but just for examples sake. Id like to be able to enter an alias, like bball in the recipient area of the text message screen to send a message to each of those guys who would be part of that list, instead of scrolling through my history trying to find the last message I sent to Ray, Bryan, David and Jeff. And lets say that one of those friends moves out of the area, so I want to modify that group to just have Ray and Jeff. Currently, you cant modify mass text message recipient lists. In using the iPhone 3GS (came from Blackberry), I am having a few annoying issues:(1)When I go to Phone, and Click Contacts, it does not default to the Search Box. I have to press the little, tiny ? at the top right, just beneath the + sign. I almost always hit the plus sign and have to start again. This is driving me nuts, especially while driving. Is there any way to make it automatically launch the Search box (maybe even with the keypad showing) whenever I hit Contacts. This same issue applied to creating emails. I have over 800 contacts, and I almost ALWAYS want need to start typing a couple of letters, to find the one I need.(2) When creating a new email, is there any way to jump from the TO field to the Subject Field to the Body field of the message without touching those areas on the screen, such as hitting Return (which does not work).(3) I type faster than I expected on the touchpad (especially coming from Blackberry). But two things really slow me down. First, not having the comma on the main screen with the letters. And second, not having the numbers. Is there any way to change this? Landscape typing not quite iPhone 3G

As I continue to get accustomed to this new update to 3.0 I am noticing some things that could be improved. Today I viewed a voicemail and tapped the arrow to the right of it for more detials then saw there was a share contact option there. Tapped the option to share and it opened a new window for an email. I turned the iPhone so I could type the email in landscape mode and no dice. Looks like when you are sharing contact info you will have to type it the old school way.

Really poor battery life iPhone 3G

Did all the things recommended by Apple web site to extend battery charge but today , I check my email and after reading and replying to two emails (with no graphics) a full charge goes down to less than 1/4, so cannot do much more until I get it charged back. email Disappears after trying to send iPhone

My emails seem to disappearWhen I have replied to an email and hit send, the app appears to be sending the email (pop-up status bar appears). However, the iPhone will eventually turn-off and when I go to check the sent folder nothing is there. Nothing is in the outbox; nothing is in the draft folder. And the email never reaches the designation. This has happened on both replies, forwards, and new email messages with and without attachments. Most times it has appeared to happen when the signal strength is weak.Before sending I have been able to save the email to draft, but after making a few modifications and hitting send, the email with the modifications seems to disappear. Again, the status bar pops-up and it appears to be sending the email. Eventually, the iPhone turns off. When I check the sent folder and the outbox, the email is not there. However, the original email (the one without the changes) is still in the draft folder.Any help with be greatly appreciated. Dell Optiplex 960 Windows Vista

Has anyone had the experience of accidentally sending an email reply before you had finished it? This happened to me twice today, and I am sure I did not hit the send button. In both times, I was in process of hitting a key on the lower left side of the keyboard. It is very odd. If I need to edit an email there is the backspace button, but is there no delete button?? Its annoying to have to scroll to the letter I wish to delete and have to backspace it, especially if the typo requires BOTH backspace and a delete.

Need help from the smart guys here. I am a sales guy, and have a large number of cisco memory skus routers switches etc that I have to keep track of when customers call my iPhone. I emailed to myself my pricing lists and my tech notes, routers take what memory maxes etc, then copied & pasted the email once they hit my iPhone into my notes icon on the iPhone.The idea was when a customer asks me for, example, MEM2600XM-64D, I could swipe left to spotlight on the iPhone type that into the field and it would pull my notes that included my pricing or tech notes etc. (which it works great) Here is my need/ wishlist (and maybe it can be done with 3.0) I have close to 2000 memory skus routers etc I sell on my site, I want to be able to have the spotlight search within the large notes file that include 2000 items and go right to, and highlight the MEM2600XM-64D??? In other words, I dont want to have to scroll through the entire notes document that includes that part #.Almost like the cntl f in Firefox that will search within the document, not just tell me that my notes file has that part # which then I need to scroll & find... Push email No iPhone 3G

Id just like to clarify this if anyones kind enough to indulge me? My interpretation of Push email is that you receive an email almost immediately, on your device? Like you can on the Blackberry for example. Someone sends you an email, and within a few seconds you receive it on your device - like you do with the Blackberry. Theres no discrimination whether its a POP, IMAP, Yahoo, Exchange account, you get it it pretty much straight away.So when Apple said, Push email, I assumed that meant Push email. That is, email is pushed to your device - the iPhone? No? Because it doesnt seem to be push email on mine. It is pretty much Push email with my Me mail, but most of the world isnt with .Me, and like the rest, I have a lot of POP mail accounts that seem to take a while to come through - ie not Push.In the settings the most frequent fetch is every 15 minutes. How to easily mute iPhone at night or while I sleep 3G

Hello,I was wondering if there is an easy way to mute my iPhone 3G at night when I sleep? I usually dock it on the night stand next to my bed so it can charge. I also use it as my alarm clock so I need alarms to still work and to still hear phone calls in case of an emergency and work. I guess I need something that mutes all the other sounds such as email and sms. It keeps waking me up at night mostly with email that is not an emergency.I have been turning off all the sounds in settings>sounds but that is getting old and I forget sometimes to turn them back on. 3.0 wifi issues iPhone

Ok this is very frustating. Ever since I installed the 3.0 software on my phone I have been having issues catching my emails, etc. Before my emails would appear as soon as i received them now i have to go in my email and like 10 emails load at once. Also, my WIFI doesnt work it connects perfectly fine but when i try to use (safari,youtube, maps, email, the app store) it just keeps loading until i get a error message. Whenever Im on Edge it works perfect.Anybody have suggestions in how to resolve this Windows XP

MMS versus SMS selection iPhone

How does the iPhone choose between sending text through MMS or through SMS? For example, when a text message exceeds the 160 characters for single text message it must automatically get broken into the multi part SMS format, effectively sending 2 SMS which is recombined at the other end into one message. (is this correct?)This would end up costing me 50 cents to send the message, however if I then send a longer message that is broken into 3 parts for sending, I am getting charged 75 cents and this continues to increase by 25 cents per sms part. This can end up far more expensive than sending an MMS on my carrier as I am charged 50 cents per MMS.Also, it looks like when I send a photo via MMS with text as well it breaks it into an MMS for the picture, but sends a separate SMS? for the text. I cant confirm this as I havent seen my current bill where Ive sent these messages yet.Other phones let you actually select MMS or SMS for the message, either directly, or by allowing you to add a subject, however I cant see how to do this on the iPhone.I know that we can send emails which work out far far cheaper, but MMS is more instantaneous when not everyone checks their email on their phone, or dont have push notifications on because they want the battery to last more than a day without charge.Can anyone shed some light on this? iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.0 Virgin Mobile Australia

I thought I upgraded to version 3.0 successfully yesterday, but noticed today that 2 of my more commonly used apps are missing! They are neither on the iphone or on my iTunes. And more bizarrely, neither of these apps – Zenbe and Virgin Mobile use – are in my purchase history. Fortunately I still have the email receipts to prove purchase. Has anyone come across this? Hi! I did the upgrade to the 3.0 OS and ever since then I have not been receiving emails to my Verizon.Net accounts. My Gmail account works just fine. After several deletes and re-adds, I finally turned of the PUSH setting and added my accounts one more time. This ended up fixing the problem for me. Iphone ATT connection issues at work what would you

I just got a IPhone (16GB 3G S) and i absolutely love the phone especially with the wide variety of apps available for it. One of the main reason i got the phone is so i could use it at work. I get great reception in my area almost everywhere but i found out i can not get reception at work (Unless i go to the window). Everyone who has any of the carries, except for verizon, have trouble getting reception at work. We have a verizon tower right across the street so reception is great in the entire building.There is my delema. I love the iphone and everything it does but im unable to even use the phone at work. With how much money you spend for an iphone most people would want good reception everywhere they go. I can switch to verizon but then i cant think of one phone on their network that i really like . If your just into checking your email the blackberries are good but i want more than that. I dont like the blackberry storm (maybe the blackberry storm 2 will be better). There are rumors that a lot of android devices are supposed to be in the US market this fall but they have yet to say which carriers of exact dates. Also there has been unconfirmed rumors that verizon might get the WebOS phones this fall also...but again Unconfirmed.What would you guys do? Would you just deal with the no connection at work and stick with the iphone? If i do then im stuck for 2 years. If something comes out on verizon thats good then i will have to ride out my contract. Or would you get something thats not as perfect but gets good connection everywhere: Blackberry or WMobile?Let me say also its just not data. Could someone please explain why Spotlight finds permanently deleted emails on my iPhone? If you search a contacts name, every email that the person sent or received comes up in Spotlight. I guess delete really doesnt mean delete!!! iPhone OS 3.0

No Icon to Send Picture iPhone

Looking at the screenshots from the Apple site that show off the ability to send pictures via MMS theres a small icon in the bottom left corner but Im not seeing that on my phone. I rebooted also but still no icon. Everything else seems to be there. Got Spotlight. Got Voice Recorder. But no icon to send a picture via MMS. Dont have it when viewing pictures either. I understand that the phone is supposed to recognize phone numbers in Safari/email messages and give you an option to dial them. What if the phone doesnt recognize a string of numbers as a phone number, and doesnt provide the option to dial it? First of all, why? And second, is there any way to use copy/paste to dial the number? The best I could figure out was to copy the number, create a new calendar item, paste the number there, save, close and then open the calendar item, and then dial the number. Is there no way to open the dialer and paste in a string of digits?

Distribution lists-particularly for SMS iPhone

I had hoped that with 3.0 I would be able to create and use distribution lists to send SMS (but email also). I have distribution lists set up in Outlook but they do not get synchronised with my iphone (however these are email distribution lists). Im looking into purchasing a gently used MacBook. I currently have a pc (I dont dress like him) and my iPhone is currently synced to Outlook on it, and a few playlists are synced also.When I get the MacBook, Id like to start off by having my current contacts and calendars on it. Is it possible to fire up iTunes on the MacBook and copy everything over? I would most likely use the MacBook as my primary machine, and use the old, slow PC as backup storage for things, and perhaps just keep my music library on it.A simple solution might very well be using MobileMe. One question - if I use MobileMe email, does it support using a different email address for Reply To? This isnt an iphone3g only question, but since I didnt get a response in the original iphone section, Im trying here as well.When I got the original iphone and started using apps I had an email address as login for Apple ID that I no longer use. A year ago I changed the email address associated with the login for Apple ID as a .mac address. Now when I update apps from the app store, I have to login with the old apple id for the older apps that are being updated, and then login again with my new apple id for new apps that came out in the last year that I have on my phone. Personal security issue-Spotlight seaching iPhone retrieves deleted email

I naively thought that when I deleted e-mail from my iPhone that it was gone. I Just upgraded to 3.0 and used the new Spotlight search feature. I was very surprised to see that many (maybe all?) of my deleted e-mail was found by this search tool, and further that clicking on the search result brought up the entire e-mail (in some cases) or just the header (in others cases).Is there some way to really delete my e-mail? AT&T states they are not ready for MMS with the iPhone and supply no reason at all for it. That is complete insert bad words* (all of them.)Im sorry but there is no excuse for this what so ever. Cant remove podcastsmusic from iPhone 3G

I was having a lot of problems with iTunes locking up on me today. It took a couple of reboots to get it to run. Im still on 8.0. When I put my iPhone 3G on to charge and to remove listened to podcasts and audiobooks, the playlists showed in iTunes under my iPhone category but the songs/podcasts/books were all grayed out and I could not pick any to delete. I then tried putting new podcasts on but when Id drag them from iTunes to the iPhone, they bounced back to iTunes and would not go into the iPhone folders. Does anyone have any idea how I can get the phone to let me make those changes? I sync contacts between Gmail and my iPhone to keep a single list of all emails, phone numbers, etc. (http://www.google.com/mobile/apple/sync.html)I will be setting up an Exchange email sync, and because you can only have one sync, I will have to delete the Gmail one. When I did this a minute ago, ALL contacts were deleted from my phone. I set it up again and resynced them, but I need a way to retain them after getting rid of the first sync.
