I would like to password protect individual apps on my iphone to keep data private. All of the apps I have found seem to focus on password protecting images and video. I would like to protect documents rather than pictures. Is this possible? I have seen responses that indicate that the phone must be jailbroken which I don't want to do.

Iphone 5 battery life great after ios 6.1.3 update

Hello Folks, Created this thread so that people know that not every iPhone 5 has a bad battery issue. I got the iPhone 5 32 GB Unlocked version last week and i was going through all the forums checking the battery issues people had since updating their iOS version. I saw that a lot of people have issues with their battery which put me on backfoot for upgrading the OS. Then too i took the leap of faith with the thought that it is "Apple!!" a premium brand.. And i am glad i did. Now i know a lot of people had issues with the ios 6.1.3 Upgrade. But for me it was smooth. When i got the phone i was by default on 6.0.2 and battery life was ok. It was les than ATT Galaxy S3 i had before as in they battery used to die in 14-16 hours which was not bad i would say.  Since i upgraded, it was on 100% in the night at 12:30 AM. I woke up, and it was still 100%. So stand by battery is super awesome after the upgrade. As for the usage now, it is 4:30 PM here in NY and the battery is about 55%. The stats that i see is 17 hours stand by time and 6 hours usage. So i beleive my battery life is improved. Also my LTE is off as we dont have it in Long Island. In the night I was on Wifi, I am in office now and wifi is disabled, listened to an hour of music on spotify, notifications are off for all the useless apps, mail frequency is 1 hour, use whatsapp a lot. Thats it. So atleast for me, the upgrade was a beneifit. And the battery life has difinitely improved.  PS: I have not created the thread to poke people with battery issues, just an FYI to people that not everyone is having battery issues. Peace....

To unlocked or not unlock question iPhone 4

I'm heading from the US to Spain for a bit and would like to use my old AT&T 3G (GSM) iPhone 4. I don't anticipate being gone more then 4 weeks. I'd like to use my current App suite and iTune collection while there, and once I return I'll continue with AT&T. AT&T provides service in the EU but at a premium  but is it worth swapping out the SIM for a local provider? Is 3G still supported in the EU? Has anyone had issues switching back and forth? Any opinion on what the costs might be for a local spanish pre-paid or short term contract SIM?Thanks for any comments.

Hello. I want to replace my iphone 5 32gb sim-free with a new one under the worldwide warranty. My phone shows some defects, reboots periodically with screen artifacts. Cannot add music from iTunes on MB Pro to iPhone 4s FYIIt's onlysame laptop I've used with this phone

I cannot add any music to my iPhone 4s from my MB Pro in iTunes. This is the only laptop that I have used with this phone, so that isn't the issue. When I try to "manually" add music, the playlist drags 'n drops, but stays gray and never shows up on the iPhone.  I can sync my iPhone and wipe all the music I do have on it and add all the music from my MB Pro, but I don't want ALL that music. Regardless of what I do, it seems all iTunes will let me do is sync it.  Based on the other archived discussions, this is an ongoing problem with Apple and a total PIA at that. We pay a premium for these machines and phones, but they no longer seem to play as well together as they used to. I've had an iPhone since they came out, however, I must say that my next smart phone very well could be an Android based device...

After using one of the competition's wide screen phone, I found myself using it more then my iPhone. Though it wasn't as good of a user experience as my iPhone, the wider viewing display grabbed my attention. Viewing video content on their wider phones, sadly is much better in my opinion. The reason, the content that display at an 16x9 ratio. Wider is the way to go, truth to this is found in Reviews regarding the new iPad mini. The iPad mini has been said to have a perfect size screen when viewing content and playing Multitouch games. It has a better screen resolution as compared to it competitor. The iPad 3 and 4 have gorgeous Retina displays. Why not have a wider iPhone that's both thin and wider so we can enjoy our digital media we've purchased from Apple to have that same comfort level we get from the iPad? Having a display to be available at a resolution that's at a 16x9 Ratio is better regarding content. I love the iPhone, we need to finally go wider on the iPhone. Content viewing is being effected by the screen size on such a magnificent device. If Apple posted up a vote regarding their content displayed on their iOS devices, I'm sure people would agree that the resolution found on the iPad and iPad mini are much superior when viewing Apple's video content then from what you get from both the iPhone and iPod Touch. Not because they are smaller, it's the width of the screen then the mire size. Apple's video content is around about an 16x9 ratio as like most if not all of the content found on iTunes and the Apps store. I've found myself wanting an iPad mini as a substitute to my iphone. way to get rid of or hide scuffs on chamfered edge of iPhone 5

Hello, this is my first post on these forums! I originally purchased an iPhone 5 four or five days after the release. When I opened my phone up, the chamfered edge was very banged up and the apple logo on the back had received some major scratches. Because of this, I called Apple and informed them of my issue. They promptly sent me a new phone and I sent them my old one back. The new phone was in pristine condition (as the first should have been), and only a few days later the phone slid out of my hand and onto my MacBook Air's palm rest area that was only an inch or so below it. This one little incident cause a very large scrape on the chamfered edge of my phone, causing it to be white and stick out like a sore thumb (I have the black iPhone 5). This was an incredibly minor drop and I'm very disappointed that it was damaged as much as it was. My case is in the mail and I wasn't planning on having my phone be naked, but this seriously frustrates me considering I paid a premium for a beautiful (and supposedly durable) device. So, my question to all of you is: is there a way to get rid of (or hide) scuffs on the chamfered edge? The case I'm going to be getting will hide it, but I know that it will bring the resale value in two years way down by just having this little scuff (plus it's really ugly to even have to look at when I clean my phone after taking the case off). I was wondering if anyone has found a solution to this problem. Thanks!

Factory Unlocked iPhone 4 on IOS6 loses power in less than 6 hours

My iPhone 4 (factory unlocked GSM) has been working great until upgraded to IOS6.  Since then, battery life has been miserable.  I charge it over night, in the AM pick up phone, go to office and by noon, its dead unless I keep it plugged in.  I've had this only around 16 months and take really good care of it. I've gone in and turned off using Celluar Data for all:  iCloud documents, iTunes, Passbook Updates, Reading List.  Notifications are also set to Manually and have turned off most of the notifications for most apps I don't really care about.  Only ones active are Calendar, Reminders, Mail and Messages. I'm thinking that something is wrong with this that's keeping the radio (either GSM or WiFi) on but just can't find it.  Note that Bluetooth is turned off as well. Any guidance would be appreciated... Thanks!

How to Downgrade to IOS 5.1.1 from IOS6 iPhone 4S

It does not violate any part of this agreement. Please do not remove this post, it is providing genuine assistance to the Apple community. To clarify, the process below used iTunes and official Apple restore functionality, it complies with your terms of usage, please do not remove this post.********* Working Solution – Downgrade to IOS 5.1.1 from IOS6  (Windows XP SP3 & iTunes 10) This guide is intending to assist people with moving back to IOS 5.1.1 from IOS 6, who do not have a full backup of there iPhone prior to upgrading to IOS 6. If you do have a full backup, I suggest you use that to restore your iPhone back to your last IOS. Notes: The most difficult part of the process is installing the correct USB Recover. Also this guide need to followed step by step, do not skip steps. Make sure you take a full backup of your phone, ideally to both the iCloud and locally on iTunes. In my case I didn’t need to do this because all of my contacts and photos were via sync’d Gmail / Google drive. First off you need to ensure that Windows XP will recognise your iPhone when it’s in recovery mode. In my case the drivers were not recognised until I did the following. Launch iTunesConnect your iPhone (which should be powered on at the moment) via USBiTunes should show your iPhone device listed on the left Menu.Switch to Recover Mode by Holding down the Power button and the Home Button until the screen goes black (this will take around 20’s).Press the Power button on the iPhone and you should see a “graphic” showing recovery mode. Windows may try and load the driver at this point (unless you already have recover mode drivers installed). Hi, I just upgraded to iOS 6, and after the iPhone restarted, all my apps were gone. When I open App Store, it says 'open' instead of download on the apps I had. For instance, I had 'Pages' and when I 'open' it through App Store, it opens up the app with all of my saved documents. I don't understand how can I get all of those apps back to my phone... After several years of good service from my iPhone 4, it developed a fatal USB hardware error while attache to a B&W Zepplin Mini. As I was out of warranty, my best option was to purchase a new iPhone 4 which would preserve my eligibility to move up to an iPhone 5 in the future. To my disappointment, the new 4 had a yellow tint to the display. This is especially obvious when compared to another iPhone 4 known to match the very well balance color display of my first one. I returned to the Apple Genius Bar within the 14 day return period and was very well treated by the genius who helped me. Unfortunately, the replacement unit had the identical yellow and slightly lower contrast in the display! By scanning the discussion forums it is easy to verify that this issue started with some early iPhone 4's and seems to be reappearing in the 4S line as well. I've had a great history of Apple starting with the ][e, 128k Mac, MacBook and many desktops as well. I started with the iPhone, then 3GS and finally 4. Currently I have both an iPad and "the new iPad." So I would say that is the profile of a valuable customer. I was planning to move up to a new MacBook Pro with Retina display only to learn that while unit which come with the Samsung Super-IPS display have excellent color and no image retention (consider the irony based on the current conflict between these two parties). However, units with the LG IPS display not only don't have as high quality image but can exhibit considerable image retention. It would be tragic if Apple feels it must relax its quality standards to maintain the manufacturing output needed to sustain high sales. I have been willing to pay a premium for the top quality, design sophistication and superior UI of Apple products. It's sad to learn that quality standards are evidently slipping. Time to "Think Different!"

Hello I'm not very techy so please bare with me..... My phone was stolen a few weeks back and stupidly i never had a lock on it so Find my Iphone was switched off straight away (and has never came back on ) and i can only assume the phone was wiped or restored as no one would be interested in my info/apps/phots etc....... My deverstation is that all my pictures have gone!   I never knew that icloud was for just 30 days, i figured it was all backed up (lesson leant i guess!). I have searched the net to see if pictures can be restored but in short i find the anser is no. I did synch my phone in May. I now can't find any pictures from my phone on my computer. I have hopwever found a load of empty files her: C:documents and SettingsMy DocumentsMy PicturesiPod Photo Cache I would just accept that my photos have gone but the confusing thing is that this file is saying that the folder was last updated just half an hour after i last had my phone. Could this be when they wiped the phone? If so is there any possible way to retrieve these photos????? I'm holding on to a lot of hope here. Really hope someone can help

Remote app using thumbs from iBooks documents for cover art iPhone 3G

In iTunes on my Mac, I have a playlists where I've dragged in my favourite radio stations. If I connect to it with Apple's Remote.app and play any of them, though, it is using as cover art the covers of PDFs I have in the iBooks.app! Seems minor, but it seems one app is breaching the sandbox of another, even if they're both Apple apps... Anyone else experiencing this issue? Latest iBooks, Remote, iOS 5.1, iPhone 4S. iBooks mixed epubpdf books fail to display in bookshelf iPhone 3G

Problem description: A mix of downloaded .pdf and .epub books sometime fail to display in iBooks bookshelf. The books are on the iPhone, but not all will display. The previously-searched item in the iBooks search box affects whether they display -- even though the search box is later cleared. Apparently the iBooks app is caching the search entry and erroneously maintaining a filtered set of books, even though the search box is cleared. I've only observed this with a mix of .pdf and .epub books. Epub books by themselves don't cause it. The .pdf book was part of podcast, which iBooks picked up.  If anyone else experiences missing books from the iBooks bookshelf, I recommend: (1) First verify the books are in iTunes library under "Books"(2) In iTunes make sure devices->iPhone->books are set to sync your books(3) Re-sync(4) If book is not displayed in iBooks, search for it anyway. iPhone 4s will not show signed PDF documents

My iPhone 4s will not show signed PDF documents or completed forms sent via email. It opens the attachment but will not show Information added by the sender. I know changes have been made because on my computer it shows the filled in document. Got any suggestions.

Cannot install Apple Mobile Device USB Driver iPhone

When I open iTunes my iPhone 4S will not show up as a device. I have tried the advice provided by Apple. I have gone through the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant. That gave no solutions. I have tried the other solutions offered by Apple. I think that I have possibly identified the problem. As far as I know the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is not installed on my computer. I have tried to install it but when I do I receive an error message. I repeat the entire error message in the following paragraph. The message appears in a dialogue box with the name: "Update Driver Software - iPhone". "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. Apple Mobile Device USB Driver. Access is denied. If you know the manufacturer of your device, you can visit its website and check the support section for driver software." I cannot find a solution to this problem on Apple's website. How can I get this driver installed? My version of iTunes is current. My PC's operating system is Microsoft Windows Vista Home premium Service Pack 2.

Sync documents Folder without cloud iPhone 3G

First off I'm brand new to the iphone ive been using android for the last 3 years in which this process is very easy but im having the worst time trying to figure out how to accomplish this task. I have a documents folder with a ton of sub folders & files that I want to sync or just import to my iphone without a cloud service & without spending hours importing each file. Sorry in advance if this is an easy task & I look stupid for asking but ive tried searching & cannot find a answer.

I am so frustrated about Adobe Flash player. I can not play any Facebook games, open certain files and pictures and documents that I need to access because not only does this phone not do it but my old Palm Pre couldn't do it either. I have had so many times where I needed to access things either online or via email, or message that I can not even look at because of this. I have to wait until I for home or ask someone else to do it for me which is embarrassing. I rave about my iPhone 4S all the time because it is truly great except for this. When it use to happen with my Pal Pre I figures once I got my iPhone that it wouldn't happen anymore but I guess I was completely wrong. I have had this problem for years and always get a message saying that it's being worked on. Well a couple of years is a long time to work on it. I understand about contracts and stuff but why is it taking a company such as Apple to be able to get it for their products? I get a lot and always want to play the games on Facebook but I can't do it on most of them at least the ones I have tried. So I can not play against anyone at that time I have to wait until I get home or use someone else's computer or something. Please tell me that in the extremely near future that this will not be a problem anymore. PLEASE!!  I am sure I am not the only one out there who is having issues and if you do get it available please let there be an upload/upgrade for current phones and not just for future versions of Apple phones. That just wouldnt be very fair to all of your loyal customers and tell everyone to get your products because they are great and end up leaving this little problem out until they by your phone.  Especially if they just got the phone they have. You guys are awesome with technology I have faith that you can make this available to all Apple products old and new by uploads or upgrades. Thank you hopefully can give me some info about the status with this or if there wen is one. I would have thought that being a company such as you are that it would already be taking care of right from the beginning and not wait years to take care of somewhat that is very important ro have especially when there is so much our there using Adobe Flash now. I am not sure if this is just a blog with customers or if the company actually sees these posts but I am just hoping company or not that someone knows something about this. Can't access photos on my iphone 4s

I have been able to sync my iphone with itunes with no problems, but I have never been able to access my phone through windows explorer to download photos. This problem is on my desktop computer (windows 7 pro 64-bit). I have connected my phone to my wife's laptop (windows 7 home premium 32-bit), and I have no problem accessing my photos, so I assume it is not the phone or the cable.  I have tried many things with no success, including using a different usb port, uninstalling/reinstalling itunes, all to no avail.  In device manager, I have tried uninstalling my iphone under portable devices, and apple mobile device usb driver (checking the box to delete the driver software). After scanning for hardware changes (or disconnecting reconnecting iphone), iphone shows up with a yellow triangle and exclamation point, and windows tells me that the driver installation failed. When I update the driver and point to the usbaapl64.inf file, it says it is successful, and then apple mobile device usb driver shows up under usb controllers again, but then windows reports the iphone driver failed to install (the error says the style of the INF was different than what was expected). If I try to update the driver for the iphone, and point to the usbaapl64.inf file, it tells me that "the folder does not contain a compatible software driver. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows for x64-based systems."  The driver it wants to install is MTP USB Device, but if I let it attempt to install that one, I just get the "style of the INF is different than what was expected" error again. I have tried stopping and starting the Apple mobile device service as well. I really have no idea what else to try.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Pages on iPhone

Hi All.Would someone mind giving me a heads up on my options for editing Pages documents on an iPhone? I am using Things for notes but I have longer documents saved in .pages format on my MobileMe account and would like to be able to edit these while on the iPhone.Since Pages gives me an option to /also/ save as a .doc it is a little inconvenient to have /both/ .pages and .doc extensions of the /same/ file. This makes it really difficult to remember which file is the most recent (since I can't /only/ save as .doc in Pages this means I always have two copies of a file...).Thanks for any advice,Jon

documents and Data missing iPhone 3G

Hi, I have an iPad 2 and Mac Book Pro setup to use the iCloud for Pages documents - all works as it should. I have just got an iPhone 4S and cannot get it to play with the iCloud :-( The menu option for documents and Data is missing. It does not matter what I do I cannot get it to appear on this device - I have tried a hard reset, full restore to 5.0.1. In the Pages app settings it lets you select iCloud, but after starting Pages, iCloud does not work and it gets set back to off :-( Anyone know what is wrong here ?  Cheers,Ade

iPhone battery drains fast iPhone 4S

I received my iPhone 4s for Christmas (it was new) and it has worked perfectly since. That is until one week ago. The battery all of a sudden started to drain super fast. I've read multiple documents from Apple on preserving battery life. Nothing has worked. When I woke up this morning I noticed the battery was only at 94% - and it had been plugged in all night. The charging symbol was present on the battery. During the 30 second period I looked at my phone this morning the battery dropped from 94% to 93%. Does anyone know what's going on?

I m so sick of all Facetime problems please help iPhone

Hi psywzrd I have exactly the same problem as you... My issue is that my phone will drop the wifi connection while on Facetime and it literally happens every single time I try to use it, between 1-5 min call duration each time. How annoying!!!  Wifi basically drops out completely and almost looks like a reboot to me (ie. wifi comes back on automatically after a while, although the modem lights do not turn colour as in reboot) - by that time of course Face Time call has ended.... (it works perfectly, both video and sound when initially connected, no lag whatsoever). I am using NETGEAR Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router DG834G - firmware up-to-date. Using iPhone 4S 16GB white. Apparently my other friends use iPhone 4 / iPod and they never experienced this problem. Oh and btw, my iPhone 4S wifi connection never dropped before and works perfectly checking email / Safari / other apps etc. I am in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I also came across this:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4245 I am using Win 7 on my Acer laptop and Avira premium Security Suite - of which I have disabled both Avira firewall and antivirus - still FaceTime drops my wifi connection EVERY TIME. Can someone please help? Or someone from APPLE fix this problem??? - this is obvious FaceTime problem/bug since so many users have reported it in previous posts. Or tell me how to fix it!!!
