iphone 4 gets very hot

Hello everyone. I have an iphone 4 16gb with iOS 6.1.3, so yesterday i was using it normally, put it back in my pocket with 36% battery. After 1 hour or so i pick it up again and I had a nasty surprise the phone was very hot and battery drained down to 15%, i didn't have 3G, wifi, bluetooth, locations or other stuff or apps running, the phone was in standby. I get home and try to do a restore and i got another surprise, while it was connected to the PC instead of recharging it the battery went down and the phone shut off. Managed to restore it eventually, it stopped heating in standby but whenever i am at the menu doing nothing again with no apps or other stuff turned on it starts to get hot in the upper right part, people say it's the CPU..i don't know what to think anymore, last time it did this a restore solved it but not this time..any ideas?

iphone 5 keeps shutting off

About a month ago my iphone 5 turned itself off. It does this now a couple times a day and I have to hold down both the menu button and the power button for almost 10 seconds to have it restart. Lately, I go to take the phone out of standby and it shows a power cable conneted to the iTunes logo. I still have to hold down both the menu button and the power button for almost 10 seconds to have it restart. The phone holds its charge and I make sure I am charging the phone everyday. Not sure what it is causing this. This morning when the power cable and the iTunes logo appeared I plugged the phone into my computer and opened itunes. It found the phone, but said it needed to repair and install everything from a previous backup. So I did that hoping that would solve the shut down issue, but it did not. Has anyone heard of this happening. The phone had been working great. Any thoughts?

iphone 4 dead

hi guys... i have an iphone 4 running ios 5.01 i believe..  about 3 weeks ago, suddenly it just died for no reason. i didn't drop it or anything.. i pressed and hold the home and spring board buttons, but nothing happened.  the phone would only turn on if it is being charged. even then, it is not functioning at all.. it says no service on the top left, the wifi is greyed out..  most of the apps wont work. when i selected any of the apps, they flashed briefly then go back to main menu.  and the phone dies again as soon as i unplugged the it from the charger. the battery says a 100% while being plugged.  there is an alarm icon on top of the main menu..  last night, all of a sudden, the phone just started to function again while being docked to the charger... after being unplugged for about a week or so.  and everything just works... but this morning after i have been using it for a few hours since last night, it died again...  so it looks like there is a loose connection inside the phone or there is a chipset or something thats beginning to fail inside phone..  just wondering if anyone has experience this kind of issue with their iphone 4..  its very irritating.. i never drop the phone, never got in the water.

White screen no lock button iphone 4

I opened Instagram on my iphone 4G this morning and nothing loaded, it's stuck on a blank white screen. I can see the black bar at the top that tells me I'm connected to the internet and the battery, but the rest of the screen is plain white. I have the assistive touch on because the lock button is jammed, and I can still go into its little menu, but when I press the home button (either on the menu or on my actual phone) nothing happens. I've been trying to turn it off but, again, the lock/power button is jammed, and it hasn't been working. I read that you can hold down "lock screen" in the assistive touch menu, but when I do that nothing happens either. I plugged it into the wall and into iTunes on my computer, still nothing.When I leave it idle, it's doesn't turn off. The screen gets dark, but it's still on, I guess it's just the back-light that turns off? My only idea is to wait for the battery to die and then charge it and hope it goes back to normal.

I can't receive MMS messages can't access APN settings iphone 4

Hi there, I'm from the UK and have an iphone 4, 6.1.3, on T-mobile, and I can't seem to receive MMS messages. I've looked online for a solution and people have mentioned the need to change APN settings, which I understand you access through the 'cellular data network' tab in the settings menu, but this tab is not showing up on my iphone. With this being the case, how can I go about enabling MMS on my iphone? This is driving me nuts at the moment, any help at all would be extremely appreciated. Thanks, Joe

iphone 5 battery error

Today, when my battery was around 30% (can't remember what percentage exactly) it switched off just as I was taking a picture on Instagram. Literally, as I pressed the button to take the picture, it switched off like it does when the battery is drained so because I knew I didn't have particularly low battery, I tried turning it back on, and the no battery logo came up, so I left my phone for around an hour as I was out, tried turning it back on again randomly by pressing the menu and the lock button and holding it down (which I had also tried previously) and it came back on with 28% battery. I'm glad it's back to normal, but the reason I'm posting is because I'm wondering if anybody else has had this experience, and if I should expect it to happen regularly, or if it was just an error which doesn't really need a genius appointmet for or anything. Thank-you.

HELP Problem with iphone 4 screen color Discoloration and Image Persistence

Hi guys! I had this problem about 3 months ago. I started having this when I took a screen shot of a game then suddenly after the flash, the colors changed.Yesterday it came back to normal for the first time but after several minutes, it went back to the distorted colos mode.  Here are some pictures of the actual screen condition. You can see the problem here. The icons have a bit of a dark shade in their middle parts, but when I touch and select an icon, it shows their normal colors.*Look at the VIDEO ICON, PHOTO ICON and PHONE ICON.As you can see in this image, it's like on a thermal camera mode. LOL! it also has a large amount of image persistence in it.  In this image, you can see that the lower part of the screen is missing (blackened) and has some image persistence too. You can also see the difference in color of the messages tab.Image color is different and has image persistence too. The colors are different and the screens bottom part is darkened.  One thing I noticed here is that when the accesive touch button menu is active, the icons behind it get their normal colors back.*take a look a the APP STORE ICON, MAIL ICON, SAFARI ICON, CONTACTS ICON and PASSBOOK ICON    Any help guys? Is there any software that can fix this or any method you know? If there's anyone who have the same problem and has encountered the same problem, kindly reply and post some solutions.Thanks in advanced for those who will read this post and give me some answers!

Suddenly can't sync songs from iTunes to iphone other help topics suggestions not helping me

Everytime I try to sync any of my songs onto my iphone 4, I get an error message that says: "Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "(song name)", were not copied to the iphone "iphone Name" because they could not be found." and then it stops syncing. It says there are 13 problems. Then when you expand to see the files, each one says: "(song name)"" was not copied to the iphone "iphone Name" because it could not be found." It can be any song, an old song from 7 years ago that I got off Limewire, or a song from a CD, or it can be a song I paid for from the iTunes store. Doesn't matter. Couple weeks ago, I had no problems. Purchased new songs and had them in playlists on my phone. Then a couple days ago, I plugged my iphone into the computer (to charge it), and suddenly my songs were removed off the iphone. So I tried to put them back on, kept getting this error. So I googled it. I have spent the past 4 days TRYING to get things to work. I have looked through all the other similar questions, and tried suggestions on there. Nothing is working. - There is no exclamation point beside any of my music.- I have not changed the hard drives (I don't use my computer daily, probably once a week), (Windows is up to date also).- I have tried re-adding the songs to the library.- Everything still plays in iTunes.- If I click on the file in its location, it will open it and play it in iTunes. - I tried deauthorizing my account then reauthorizing it, didnt work.- I have even removed all my music off my phone to see if that works, now I have 15 songs on it. I did find it odd that when I looked in my purchased playlist, they were not there, but they are on the computer and on the purchased list (under the iTunes store on the side menu). At least I can use my iPod for when I'm in the car, but now I have to carry that around too, I'm getting quite frustrated. Normally I'm quite computer savvy, but I'm totally stuck on this one. And like most people, I rely on my iphone WAY to much and let the little things affect my daily life. I hope SOMEONE can please help me?!? (I don't know if it may even have to do with the fact that yesterday I finally got my iphone updated to the latest IOS, (cuz I was finally able to download the update from iTunes... Unless that was a separate update) the one where it's like "do you want to cancel, download only, download and install").

Audible Audiobook Won t Sync to iphone From iTunes

I got my first audiobook with the free Audible trial yesterday and after I downloaded it from the Audible website, I was able to open it and listen to it in iTunes on my MacBook. However, when I synced my iphone to my MacBook, everything but the audiobook got transfered over. The audiobook was categorized under "audiobooks" in iTunes, so I know that the audiobook did not get thrown into a playlist under music in iTunes. I confirmed this after searching through my iTunes library. in itunes, I even made sure to check the box saying "Sync Books", however, I noticed that iTunes did not give me the option of changing the drop down menu specifying what kinds of book would be synced to the iphone. I attached a print screen of this menu. As you can see, this drop down menu is frozen (light grey) and is restricted to only books and PDFs, which I assume does not include audiobooks. In the end, my Audible mobile app shows that my audiobook has not been put on the iphone because whenever I press the "Refresh" button, it shows that the iphone had not yet been downloaded (I couldn't downloaded it through 3G because the audiobook exceeded 50MB). Thank you, and hopefully you can help me figure this issue out.

iphone 4S Wi-Fi Connectivity Issue

Hi guys, Hopefully you'll be able to help troubleshoot my issue for me as I've come up with nothing. Of my knowledge I believe it's a software issue as I believe it's only started to occur since iOS6.1 & iOS6.1.1 have been released. Now even 6.1.2! My iphone 4S cannot discover any Wi-Fi networks (even if I put it next to the router!). The greyed out Wi-Fi button has occured and this community had a way to fix that issue, however it doesn't cover this issue. If I go into the Wi-Fi menu, this is all that happens now.  It normally picks shows all the different Wi-Fi hotspots in my area.Have you guys got any ideas & solutions?  Thanks for your time,Aaron

Why doesn't my iphone 4 want to turn on at all

My iphone 4 died Saturday and I went home to charge it and when I disconnected it to turn it on after charging it for about an hour, it didn't want to turn on AT ALL. I even tried pressing the power button and menu button at the same time on multiple occasions. My app store doesn t refresh iphone 3G

Hey I'm having a problem with my app store, not everything seems to be refreshing properly. Search and updates works perfectly as does my Top 25 list. I rarely use categories so I don't know if that is malfunctioning or not. The problem lies in the featured menu, the "new" and "What's Hot" categorie are showing the same apps for a few weeks now. I am wondering if this is a known issue (although I can't find much about it) and how I can solve it.

This took me a month or two to spot and track down, so I am posting here for the benefit of others.There was nothing about this on Google. I am an iphone developer, and I eventually diagnosed this by setting "Find My Friends" to geofence my real location and send a message when it spotted me leave. The second I started running an app on Xcode (the Apple software used for developing iphone and iPad apps) it pinged instantly. There is a setting in XCode that sets the GPS to a chosen dummy location whenever you run an app. It can be found by selecting Product>Scheme>Edit Scheme from the top menu, then select "Run appname" on the left and "Options" at the top. The one you want is "Core Location: Allow Location Simulation."  Just uncheck that box. Problem solved.

iphone weather app not working correctly

  I've noticed over the past couple of days that my native iphone app is not working properly when I pull down the drop down menu or open the app itself.  It shows the wrong days, temperatures, and times.  For example today is Thursday.  It shows tomorrow as being Tuesday, at noon it showed the icon for stars, and it showed the temp as 60 degrees in NYC.  The current temp is closer to about 30 degrees.  Anyone else having this issue?  Any ideas?

I recently bought an iphone 4 from a polish guy and he told me he had bought it for his mum in Poland but because it was too complicated for her to use so decided to sell.I checked it out and it was working normal except I couldn't make any calls in the UK obviously as it was locked to a Polish carrier. On phone details I noticed it said Telenor, but after research I understand there is no Telenor in Poland, rather Orange, T.Mobile are the main carriers.Telenor cover Norway, Sweden and pakistan.I then decided to restore(stupidly) using a T.Mobile SIM card but unfortunately on the 3rd screen of set up it said SIM card inserted not supported. I then bought a factory restore off eBay where I supplied the phone's IMEI number and then was told this would permanently unlock the phone to any network in the world. however, this hasn't worked even by attempting to restore via iTunes.I am beginning to think I need a remote unlock and restore from apple or find out the original sim that it was locked on to as I can no longer locate the chap I bought the phone from. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.ta

Stuck in guided access screen with no lockpower button 4s

Help!  I looked online for a way to lock my iphone 4s without having to use the lock/power button (as mine has recently stopped working) and found where some one said to turn on the guided access to enable a lock with pushing the home button three times.  I have enabled it, but now am stuck in the menu.  Keeps popping up to to push home button three times to exit, but when I do, nothing happens.  I've read on here to do a manual restart, but I can't do that with a broken lock.  Anything else I can do?? My phone is out of warranty.  Thanks!

iphone 5 WiFi issues

My iphone 5 refuses to connect reliably to WiFi. Whether its my home network or school network, both of which my MacBook connect perfectly to and have never caused problems, the iphone constantly disconnects from, requiring me to load the wifi menu in the Settings app before it attempts to reconnect. Even once it does, it constantly drops the connection and switches back to cellular. As I said, I've never had this issue on my MacBook or my older iphone 4. I've reset the network settings on my phone and performed a hard reset on my AirPort Extreme to no avail. This is quite annoying. My data usage has spiked since getting the iphone 5 due to the constant video watching and app downloading over cellular when it shouldn't (as in, I'm in my home where I expect the WiFi to be working). I used the diagnostics tool and now have a Genius Bar appointment set up for Monday, but I hoped I could get some insight here before needing to go to the store.

Problems with ios6 or iphone 5

I recently upgrade from an iphone 4 to a 5 and since then my celular data and wifi have both stopped working and require the phone to be reset to work. It is also sending multiple of the same imessages and sometimes will not send imessages even if i receive them and have lte and full cell service. it is also randomly resetting itself i guess, it stops what im doing and goes to the boot up apple screen for 5 seconds then reapears to the lock menu. I have talked with several other iphone 5 and 4 users who some say they experiance the same problems and some say they experiancce non at all? Does anyone know if its IOS6 or the hardware in the iphone 5

iphone 4 reception

Hi, I've got an iphone 4S and not had a problem with it in the 15 months since I've had it. However, on Saturday my reception dropped off completely but I could still receive wireless and 3G. After a few attempts to reboot (power&menu button) it would come back eventually but now it has gone immediately. To replace it is circa £500. Do Apple replace them when it is a hardware problem or is there something else I should try? Thanks

iphone 5 not showing received calls under Recent tab.

Currently using an iphone 5 (iOS 6.0 on Sprint). The issue that I am having is that the vast majority of recevied (incoming) calls are not staying on my call log under the recent tab. When I access the Recent tab under the Phone menu and select the All menu, I can see all of my placed and missed calls. However only about 1 out of every 10 or so calls that I answer stay listed on my recents tab.  This is making it difficult since I cannot go back and check numbers for clients that have called in to ask a quick question.  Anyone else experience this or have any suggestions ? Thanks,

Many Apps not opening iphone 3G

I've found on the threads that many people have had this problem, but I've tried all the answers and still, many of my apps, when touched appear to start opening then disappear back to the menu screen.   I've tried Restoring the phone, downloading a free app, trashing and reuploading apps that don't work.  Nothing seems to help.  At first it was just a few apps that would not open, they were the newer apps that I've downloaded in the past few months, but now its infecting some of my older apps, and Instagram won't open (god forbid) anymore.   I'm wondering if it could be some sort of syncing issure but I've tryed unsycing the phone to itunes, etc. No dice.  Anyone have a solution? Thanks,C
