Today I updated my iphones OS (original OS - not jailbroken) and after having downloaded the new OS, itunes attempted to install the new OS onto my 3G iphone. when the phone freezes, it has an apple logo and progress bar on the screen. It ALWAYS freezes at approximately 20% according to the phone screen. Itunes freezes at 50% when it is restoring iphone software.I have restarted my iphone over 3 times (by pressing and holding down both the power and the circle button) and the phone does restart but tells me to plug it into itunes. When I plug it into my computer and connect to itunes, itunes tells me i need to:check the iphone software update server to identify this deviceI click check and this works ok. However another error message pops up that says:iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used in itunes.I click ok and then press restore and it seem sto work except that it freezes again as i described above.Ive noticed other people are experiencing similar problems and wondered if they have found any solutions to this? Would really appreciate ANY help as at this state, my iphone is BRICK that doesnt work as either a phone, gaming console, or organiser.I am very disappointed with Apple for releasing an OS that in effect disables the core purpose of the iphone (a PHONE!!!) and now have lost confidence in their products. iphone 3G very unhappy custome
Has any of you guys lost the sound from the speaker mine has almost lost all the sound from the phone speaker. Hands free still works. So Im off to get a new phone. My 2 year warranty is almost over so it was a good investment.I did a complete restore, but the speaker has not come back. I must say the phone is a lot faster after the restore. iphone 3g, Mac Mini, MacBook Pro 13", ipad 16, ipad 64
So, this is the seventh time Ive tried to restore. I keep getting error 9. Ive tried both usb ports and another cable. Now I am trying a new user account. What else can I do? Ive already called Apple and dont have access to a store. I get 3/4 of the way through the firmware update and it gives me an error. Very frustrating. Anyone have the same problem? Suggestions?Message was edited by: evan127 15" Unibody MacBook Pro 2.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 640GB HD, iphone 3G 8GB, iPad 16GB Mac OS X (10.6.3)
My girlfriend and I both have iphone 3Gs. Last night she attempted to upgrade the software, which apparently prompted her to download the newest version of iTunes. After a couple of attempts, we finally got iTunes downloaded (presumably). The phone was plugged in and updating all night, but as of this morning will not operate because it requires iTunes 9.2 or greater. She has apparently tried to restore it to its previos OS just to get it to work to no avail. Any suggestions? Im no computer guru but my girlfriend can usually work through these issues. She is afraid that all her info is lost, including texts and voice memos of her late aunt. iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.2
Yesterday I recieved my iphone 4. Then I backupped my iphone 3gs.After I restored that backup on iphone4.Everything went fine except some pics missing (last 2 months) in camera roll. The strange thing is that if I look for them in the places tab I can watch them.So the pics ARE in the PHONE but to watch them I have to use the places feature :-Does anybody experienced that? Any workaround?thanks in advance for any suggestion.Giacomo iphone 4 iOS 4
My iphone went into a reboot loop, so I restored, it has finished restoring but it continues to reboot and will not load springboard 3G iOS 4
I have an iphone 3G that I just passed on to another family member after I upgraded to the 4. I was having no problems with it before the pass. After passing it on, I did a complete restore to wipe everything off.Once the new family member had it all set up, they quickly went off to the app store to get some new apps. They found one they wanted, bought it, and it took them back to their home screen and the term Waiting was written under the app. We were in good wifi area. The app literally sat at waiting for minutes.I suggested something might be wrong and turned off the phone. Upon returning it to power, the app quickly switched to loading, downloaded, and installed. No problem. However, downloading apps has continued to have this problem and has continued to require resets. Any suggestions? iphone 3G iOS 4
I have an iphone 3G running iOS4.01 and the latest version of iTunes.I dont know how it started. I was updating to iTunes 10 and I lost power to my computer (iphone was not connected at the time). After a reboot, I uninstalled iTunes because it would no longer run (shutdown in middle of installation does that). Then I downloaded and installed iTunes 10.0.0.68. Everything seemed fine. I even bought a song or two. I wanted to sync that song to my iphone so I connected it to my computer. I have set custom sounds in windows so that it lets me know when a device connects. The connect sound plays but the iphone does not start to charge, nor does iTunes pop open, nor does windows explorer pop open with device options. Nothing happens. So I open up devices and it shows me the usual stuff but categorized under unknown is Apple Mobile Device USB or something like that with a warning explanation point ! next to it telling me that there is an error with it. So I right click and select troubleshoot. Cant fix problem. So I open up the (almost) never failing google and start searching. I find a mind-boggling amount of cases similar but usually with an iPod not an iphone and those were solvable. I finally get to one that says that I should try resetting my iphone and making connect in recovery mode. So I hold the power and home buttons down until the iphone turns off. I open iTunes, hold down the home button and connect the iphone. The Connect to iTunes screen appears... and nothing happens. Not immediately, not after 30 minutes. Nothing (except for the iphone timing out and powering off again). So then I take a huge leap of faith and decide to actually use apples support page. After sorting through stuff designed for the mentally challenged who cannot locate the home button, I find http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538 .This is exactly the problem I am having and yet following the instructions brings up problems That I havent seen before. So I follow the instructions like a good dog and locate the driver under Universal Serial Bus controllers and as per the instructions I uninstalled it. I then Scan for hardware changes. This is where the instructions start to seem non applicable. As it said it would, scanning for hardware changes found and installed drivers from the iphone. But instead of installing the Apple Mobile Device driver, I now have a device under portable devices called Apple iphone. This seemed fine but...iTunes still failed to recognize it. Windows seemed to think that the device is some sort of camera (applying a camera icon to it in the simple device manager). Windows explorer popped up this time and I can see all the photos on my iphone and copy them and all but it still wants to think this is a camera. The iphone charges now at least. The instructions continue and I try to follow. It says to search for updates to the Apple Mobile Device driver. Because this is not there and there seems to be no way of getting it there, I apply this to the Apple iphone under Portable Devices. Everything seems to run smoothly until: Click the Browse button, then navigate to the following location: C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers. it seems to tell me that if I am on a 64-bit edition of windows (as I am) I should search for it under C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers. but in that location the drivers folder in that location doesnt exist (I dont have 32-bit iTunes installed I guess.) So I go to the C:Program FilesCommon FilesAppleMobile Device SupportDrivers directory instead and not only does the folder exist but the file is there too. The file usbaapl64 is there and the instructions seem to imply that I should use it if I am 64-bit windows. So I try to use it.BAM! Another problem: The folder you specified doesnt contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver (which it does), make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x64-based systems.Seriously. What do I do now? Modified HP Pavillion Elite iOS 4 Windows 7 64 bit.
I connected to itunes and was advised of update 4.0 (or something similar) so clicked on update. After some 20+ minutes I received a message saying update had failed. I tried to press restore but nothing happened, now I have a completely dead iphone and cannot get anywhere with itunes as it seems to have erased the my iphone from the menu. Can anyone please advise what I can do to get my phone back? Thanks, keithssd sony vaio Windows 7

Hi all,My first iphone 4 had this issue of remaining in EDGE even when turned to 3G and on enabling/disabling airplane mode it turns to 3G with full bars. So assuming there was a hardware/software issue with iphone 4 i sold it. I got another iphone 4 from different country and the same above issue haunts me.In iphone 3Gs enabling 3G from EDGE takes place quick in the same area and and the same network as iphone 4. I would like to know whether:1. Issue is with hardware/software of iphone 4.2. anybody else having the same issue.3. Is it a network error. Finally i guess apple should seriously consider enhancing 3G and wifi reception in the upcomming update 4.1 What could be the problem? iphone 4 iOS 4 mac book

Last night i plugged it in to my pc and left it to charge. I had 86% left. 2 Hours later I came back to check and it had dropped to 50% and it was very hot!Ive noticed that if I put it in airplane, it charges without overheating! So is this a software issue? My software was corrupted. I had an error where if i received a phone call while wearing my headset - the volume would be locked on high and it would be a real pain.Apple support recommended that i backup my phone and restore/set up as a new phone - thus i cant restore any backup bc. i would be reloading corrupted software. Now that i have a clean phone i want all my contacts/apps/photos back - what do i have to do? Apple support was walking me through this over the phone and the dude hung up and never called back. what gives? iOS 4 iphone 4
Just got my phone and just got it activated- connected to my work wifi, and the phone shows the signal as full tilt, but- when I open safari it switches to 3g.Turning off 3g forces it to edge, turning off edge/cellular data (with wifi shown full strength) gives the not connected error.Have reset/rebooted/etc phone- cannot do so to internet, but have confirmed it working fine. Thoughts? Summary: Wifi icon signal shown, unable to use. iphone4 iOS 4
My home has an apple router, so I never had this problem until this week.I cannot logon to most wifi spots. The phone sees the router, but gives the following error: Incorrect password for router. The password is correct, but I can connect with my computer or others phones, not the Iphone4. I have tried a dozen spots, houses, cafes, airports etc.. and I could get one or two to work. I am using the correct password- it has to be driver problem.Any ideas? I have reset the network settings back to the factory settings. No difference. Thanks iphone iOS 4 Wifi Password Problems
Is there a way to have Australian english on an iphone, the phone keeps changing my spelling over to American English (which is not the entire world) and this aggravates me, it changes colour to color and ss to zs and when it does learn the word it still shows it as being an error. There has to be some way to fix this problem. Thank you PC iOS 4

I know there are many threads on restoring the iphone but i could not see anything which helped me resolve my problem. Against my better judgement last night i tried to update my iphone 3g to the new iphone software 4.0.2. Well i wish i hadnt. My iphone is now stuck in recovery mode. I go into itunes to restore it. The green bar on itunes gets to about 75-80% and then just gets stuck there!!!Ive gone through all the steps in the help sections and other forums but it just keeps getting stuck. I even left my phone overnight last night in case it was just taking a long time and it was at exactly the same point i left it!! Any ideas. Ive got a ton of contacts and stuff i cant really lose but dont know where to go from here. Thank you. iphone 3g
Hi,I have placed my request for the carrier unlock in. They say it takes up to 10 days and I will have to restore my phone in iTunes after that. Then I will get a message saying the phone is no longer locked to any carrier. How do I know when the update is ready for my phone? Do I get a message in iTunes or should I restore every day for the next 10 days? MacBook Pro 2.2GHz Mac OS X (10.5.4) iphone 3G
Ive had to restore my iphone 4 twice now from a backup, and each time Ive had to spend over an hour recreating folders and reorganizing my apps back into the folders the way I last had them. I guess this is a feature request for backups to retain folder placement and contents, please! The data structures needed seem to exist already and are used by iTunes to remember the apps layout there. Any other way of saving my apps folders from iphone 4? iphone 4 iOS 4 MacBook Pro / OS X 10.6.4

I dont know what happened. I havent changed any settings on my pc. I updated my phone software to 4.0.2 last week with no apparent problems. I think Ive charged on my pc since but cant remember for sure. Now when I hook to usb, it goes on and off. Like not the power, but it (the iphone) will connect and show charging and I get the windows message that the apple camera is connected and what do i want to do. then it blinks off, like shows my welcome screen, not charging. then a few seconds later it shows up again and shows to be charging. it goes through this over and over. And iTunes does not recognize the iphone, says an error occurred.Any thoughts or suggestions? Dell XPS 410 Windows XP
I just got my iphone 3 days ago! (Saturday) I went over to my cousins house to add some songs. When I connected the USB cable to his computer and my iphone it went straight into recovery mode. I thought it was his computer so I went home to my computer and the same problem occurred! I searched everywhere to try to solve this issue. I even downloaded some stuff that supposily forces iDevices out of recovery mode but nothing worked. I also tried holding the 2 buttons and bam, nothing. Please, anyone with a solution, please help me.update Whenever I try to restore, I get an error message. It happens for firmware 4.0,4.01, and 4.0.2. (My iphone 4 came with firmware 4.0.2)Message was edited by: xxjose201xx Windows XP

PLEASE HELP. iphone 3G iOS 4
OK, so a few days ago I finally got around to upping to iOS 4.02. The next day, I started getting an abhorrent number of dropped calls, fail to connects, no internet service, the works. Mostly while driving, making this more annoying (the little bzzzzzzzz of a dropped call in my earpiece, not so fun.I am, in fact, in possession of a clue (as well as a degree in Information Systems), so I start troubleshooting on my own. Jumping into an out of Airplane mode (force to look for network) results in a temporary fix - as in, about 3 seconds of connectivity. Resetting ALL network settings seems to result in about the same. After three or four cycles of this, the phone drops service again, but displays a message saying that it was unable to make or recieve calls, and that I needed to preform a restore.Which I did. And it worked. For thirty seconds, and then I got the same message. So I restored. Again. Reset network settings again, just to be safe.It just dropped a call on me to my mother. Im going to have a lot of fun hearing about how I hung up on her, except that I have... you guessed it, No Service. No restore message though.Im using a silicone case, the phone is sitting on my desk now, wasnt touching it, let alone the antenna when any of this happened, using my headset actually, my wifes got 5 bars of tower even using the death grip, and so does my old 3G (work pays for it, so I have 3 AT&T lines) and Im less than a mile away from a tower, and we usually get really good service here. I dont think its an AT&T problem b/c my other lines are fine.Im out of suggestions. Anyone else seeing anything like this? iphone 4 iOS 4 ?
Im trying to sync my iphone through iTunes but its not working. First it says something about a duplicate file. Then it says an internal device error has occured. It also sometimes says the required file cannot be found (Im trying to sync a new ringtone onto it and I have NOT moved any previously synced files).I have the latest iphone update and the latest version of iTunes. Ive tried restoring to a back up but then that stuffs up as well. What can I do?? Asus Windows 7

Last night I set up my iphone 3G to upgrade to iOS4, when I wake up this morning it has the connect to iTunes screen. No problem I thought, can sort that out. But iTunes says it cannot fix it as it needs to be the latest version of iTunes, which I have, I even reinstalled it from the website haha.Edit: OK, managed to connect it using another user on my Mac, just need to work out how to restore the old info, as this user still doesnt like it :PMessage was edited by: steffanbno Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.4) iphone 3G
Okay so my iphone is kind of messed up. I have a music problem ( in that in speeds it up, even though i changed headphones and it randomly pauses music) i have a slowness issue like most people, but to get frm the lock screen to messages it takes a matter of minutes, it takes 1 minute to get to the screen for me to enter my password and a minute or two to type it in and load then another minute to get on messages! im really annoyed. apple are suppose to be the best company out but with so many problems with their iphones i am really not believing this!whenever i try to restore my iphone 3G, i get the message the iphone softwae server could not be contacted. my network settings are FINE. as i am on the internet. what is going on!? it wouldnt work last night either. i want to get back to 3.0 without jailbreaking obviously.i hate apple at the moment ¬___¬ Mac & Pc iOS 4 I have iphone 3G, iPod Touch, Mac Desktop
Hi theretoday when I connected my ip4, iTunes asked me to download and install the latest iOS 4.0.2, after that it went into a recovery mode loop and I cant do muh more. I have so far tried to restore using 3 other pc´s, xp and Win7. Tried different USB cable, disable firewall/antivirus, but nothing helps. I am constantly getting an error 9, but I have seen error 2009 and 3194 as well (tried about 10 times so far).Dont know what else to tryThanks in advance for any feedback. iOS 4
I have noticed that after upgraded to 4.02, I now receive an error on the screen that reports that this accessory is not supported by iphone, prior to the 4.02 update. Both my belkin and scosche power adapters worked fine. Did Apple re-enable (if not Apple cable or power adapter), display the error ? iphone 4 iOS 4
I upgraded to an iphone 4 and was thinking about selling my 3G. For some reason I took out the sim card (security reason?). It sat around and I never sold it and I just had to restore my old phone. Now it wont activate because the sim is missing, and I cant find it.Im wondering if ATT has like a bogus sim card that I can get from them just so I can activate the old 3G, or if I go to the apple store they can at least get it functioning as an iPod touch. Thats all I want. Macbook Pro 2008 Mac OS X (10.6.4) iphone 4
Sadly my iphone 4 earpiece no longer works. No sound, mute is not on, silence button is not on silent. When I press speaker in Phone app I can hear perfectly and also when using the headset.I have done a restore but it didnt help.Any idea how to fix this?I guess I have to send it in for a repair. iphone 4 iOS 4

Hello all,Ive been having a problem with my iphone 3G for a while now, where whenever I plug it in while iTunes is open, iTunes just crashes. Ive tried reinstalling iTunes completely (following these instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923) as well as restarting computer, updating all apple software, deleting iTunes preferences, re-installing the iTunes USB driver...Nothing seems to work! Before, if I was lucky, I was given the opportunity to restore my iphone to factory settings (set up a new iphone...the backups stopped working ages ago). Now, I cant even restore my iphone and I cant see the home screen or navigate iTunes when the iphone is connected. Please help! Any advice will be appreciated! Thanks, vrax iphone 3G iOS 4

Hi,I need major help. I just recorded a ton of videos of our family trip to Disneyland on the iphone 4 but it wont let me download it onto my Macbook. I used the almost DLSR app and neither iPhoto or Preview will allow me to download any of the video footages. I guess almost DSLR creates a different file that cant be recognized. It looks like its still a .mov file but the file must be in some other unrecognizable format. Preview gave me this error message:The operation couldnt be completed (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9912)All of my iphone 4 and iTunes is up to date. Is there anyway of just extracting the video footage via Finder? Thanks. MacBook Mac OS X (10.5.6)
Seems simple - to sync your phone, but I have had issues since purchase. After 3 hrs tech time and then time face to face in store, they gave me a new phone. It syncd right away, everything fine. Now having problem with the second phone.I did not sync the phone for a couple weeks, and went to sync it because my apps were not working (push the app on phone and nothing happens). When I tried to sync, I get errors again, some of which include:Internal device errorTiming outUnknown errorI have attempted to restore from back-up, and it errors out and wont let me do this. I have done the complete restore as well. Then when I attempt to sync, the errors are gone, but the sync does not occur. Itunes states it is syncing, and phone shows nothing. It never syncs. Also, anytime I connect the phone to computer itunes pops up with the set up your iphone page, which tells me it is never really recognizing the phone. Also note: I was told to take the time management off the USB hubs, as this might be creating a problem. This has not solved the problem.I am going back to the store today, but figured I would see what advice I could find here. HP dv6t 64 bit
