My iphone 5 which is running iOS 6.1.3 for the past few weeks has bee charging off and on. I have two cords one that came with my phone and one I ordered off amazon, neither of the two cords is functioning proerly which is leading me to believe it may be a phone issue rather than cord. I wil plus it in and often get a "charging is not supported with this device" message ragardless if I use he provided apple brick, my laptop, or car port. It will mainly then switch off and on between charging and then just being plugged in not charging!
hello very recently my iphone stopped charging well it was charging but it wasnt charging lol i know what i mean is when i plug in the cable the phone says charging but the percentage of the battery isnt going up so i tryed a different lightning cable still same problem so then i tryed the wall brick thingy still same problem i also tryed my car charger and nothing so a friend told me its my battery so i took it to a repair shop and they replaced it for me and the phone was working again and then at night i went to plug it and same thing it shows charging but its not charging instead of givng that lightning icon on the battery it shows the other icon that indicated that the battery is fully charged. so its pretty much telling me that at 5 percet battery level the battery is fully charged i dont know what to do is this hardware where the phone is telling the battery to stop taking in charge because it thinks its fully charged please help i dont know if i should do a complete restore because i dont think its a sotware issue because even when the phone is off and connected to charger its still not chargeing please guys help me out i need my phone back
My iphone 4 is stuck in recovery mode and is now a brick, there is no response and cannot be restored, error code -1 message keeps persisting, what do I do????
I purchased a factory unlocked 64gb a1428 iphone 5 last November for use on T-Mobile's network. It is my understanding that there were no hardware changes between the at&t a1428 and the upcoming T-Mobile a1428, as the Qualcomm radio is firmware upgradeable. I understand that there will not be a user friendly flash upgrade (I wouldn't trust an enduser to administer a firmware update that can permanately brick their phones), So I was wondering if those of us with factory unlocked phones would be able to have the upgrade done at an apple support center?
I adore the iphone. Huge minus in the battery. With a cover charging turns into a brick. I am sure that apple easily could increase the volume of the battery of phone twice, having thus increased the volume of phone by a third. would sell in two options: to whom the size is basic, would take with the small battery to whom time of autonomous work - with increased is important.
Hi All. After updating IOS phone has become a bit of a brick, it won't connect to Internet or iTunes or any apps. Whenever this is tried it displays error 1200.Does anyone know how to resolve this? Can it be done with plugging into laptop or complete reset? I am asking on behalf of a friend who is currently serving over seas and would like to get it sorted as quick as possible. Any ideas would be greatly receivedThank you .
Hi, is anyone experiencing no sound control since the upgrade? I no longer have use of the sound radio buttons on the left side of the phone for music or audio playback, nor is there any audio "slider" on the screen in video or audio mode anymore. Even when I double-press the home button when the phone is locked, I am only left with a play button and skip forward/back buttons! Once in a while, in locked mode it appears intermittently like a flicker, but that's it. This is SO frustrating!!! As far a as a media device, my iphone has been reduced to a brick! If anyone from Apple is reading, the battery usage has also gone through the roof. In the last five minutes, I've gone from 53 to 47 percent despite closing all background programs and having the screen off.
Hi, Everything was going fine with my phone today until I noticed I had no signal for a while... Went through the usual process of airplane mode on and off... turning it off and on... reseting it... waiting a bit longer. Then eventually after a few hours with out signal I synced it without result. Then without it being fixed I decided to restore it when the Unknown Error (-1) message appeared. I tried this on two separate macs of mine with the same result. I now have the start up screen on my phone and iTunes says my iphone is in recovery mode. I guess the reason I'm here is to ask if anyone knows any other possible solutions or do I now have a brick on my hands? Thanks.
When i remotely updated my phone , It restarted it and it was stuck on the booting screen. I pluged it into my computer , And it gave me the option to restore , So I just tried to restart it again and it was stuck in booting screen so i decided better to restore my phone than have a brick , So I plugged it back in to my computer and my computer dosent recognize my phone at all. What can I do?
Hi there Firstly I'm not the most techno sharp person so I apologise for needing an idiots guide in advance. I woke up the other morning to find my phone not working and showing the connect to iTunes logo. After searching in various places I downloaded tiny umbrella but this hasn't worked as it won't show as being connected to this. I have tried to restore this to factory settings on iTunes but this hasn't worked either as coming up with error box. So at the moment I'm left with a brick and its all because my phone auto did an update without me asking it to over night while plugged in. Can anyone help me please and as I said previously I would appreciate it in simple terms and no jargon etc if possible please? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.
her App Store kept failing after updating to IOS 6.0. So, I tried to install 6.01 using wifi. It never came back and shows a picture to connect to iTunes. Well, that doesn't work and now her phone is a brick. Any suggestions? iTunes says error 29, which the help says is due to security software. The only "security software" I'm running is OS X, mountain lion, with the most recent updates. So, if there is anything interferring with it, it's Apple's OS. Any suggestions. We have about 30 hours before we leave on a trip, and having two cell phones is kind of important, since I'll be in a conference half of the time.
Hi Can someone help please?I sold my iphone 4 recently and it was returned to me. The guy had it for 6 hours and it suddenly crashed apparently (this is his words)! He then tried to restore and it failed with unknown error 21. Im no stranger to resetting and sorting an iphone out but this one has me banging my head against a brick wall. I have tried to restore and the same error occurs.I have also tried entering into DFU mode etc and the same results.Volume up and down and resetting still no change. I took it to the apple store as a last hope to see what they said and they dvised it had been tampered with so would not test any parts!Should i try a new battery? Or is this something else? Has anyone seen this before?Needless to say i am furious as i personally feel that this may have been a drop/water damage or jailbreak gone wrong or, even worse, a logic board swap SCAM. Any help would be great. Cheers
Dear Apple, After upgrading my well functioning iphone 4 from version 6 to 6.01 the following occurs.. - When turning the phone on you no longer need to enter the pincode to unlock the simcard (Nice benefit but unwanted).- The phone is unresponsive in many Apps (That is being generous and kind with my words).- The phone just locks up and you are forced to reset it (I like seeing the Apple Logo over and over).- Answering incoming calls is not possible (I didn't want to talk to my boss anyway). So in essence Apple, thank you for turning my iphone into a "brick". 1. Yes, I have restored it to the factory settings.2. Yes, I have tried and restore it to a previous backup.3. Yes, I have installed no 3rd party Apps and still see the same problems.4. No, the phone is not jailbroken. What is even better is that no matter how many iPhones (Version 4) I try this on (Because we have multiple). I get the same pleseant surprise... So my phone and all of the others will be resting in a drawer until you decide to post another update. Thank you so much for your spectacular integration testing across hardware versioning platforms. Being in the Semiconductor industry myself this is one of those things that makes "us" hardware people dislike you "software" people. Sincerily yours, Ugh
Hi Guys, It's now been ONE HOUR since I installed a T-Mobile SIM card into a brand new, out of the box iphone 5, running on the factory installed iOS 6.0. Issues within the FIRST HOUR: 01. Several unwanted shutdowns, despite having 30% juice. 02. Several unwanted restarts. Being the woman that she is, she's randomly turning herself off and on ;o). 03. SIM card could be found when it was first installed one hour ago. Then the SIM card couldn't be found. Several unwanted restarts still didn't find the SIM card. 04. Even with 30% juice, she kept turning herself off, and then back on, even when I wasn't touching her. 05. Phone getting hot, even when I was doing NOTHING on her. Unlike some of the other posts in Apple's discussion forums, this is definitely NOT related to Maps OR the App store. All I was doing was rearranging the icons on the home page, and going through the Settings. 06. Power dropped from 32% to 30% in TWO MINUTES, with NO apps running. 07. During one of the many unwanted restarts during the first hour of use, on the Apple logo startup, a single line of coding lettering could be seen BEHIND the screen, at the very bottom of the screen. Such coding is clearly not supposed to be seen by the user. I've never seen such coding on my iphone 3GS. 08. Setting to show battery percentage at the top of the screen not being saved between unwanted restarts. 09. Flickering screen. Intermittent issue. Unlike other posts in Apple's discussion forums, this is definitely NOT related to Maps OR the App store. 10. Sometimes during the intermittent flickering screen issue, a faint green 4mm stripe down the entire left side of the screen. 11. During one unwanted restart, vertical light grey and dark grey HARD stripes down the whole screen, each about 4mm wide. 12. Setting to use Siri not being saved between unwanted restarts. 13. After yet another unwanted restart, going to Settings to turn Siri back on. Clicking the Siri Settings button does not give me options, but instead, quits Settings, and goes straight back to the home page. 14. Recording video on my iphone 3GS, to evidence problem 13. Clicking the Settings button on the iphone 5 did not take me to the Settings. Instead, the screen colours all faded increasingly dark, until turning to complete black within five seconds. Ten attempted restarts have refused to get beyond the black screen. This phone is ONE HOUR OLD, and after issues 01 to 13 raised their ugly heads, issue 14 has now killed the phone completely. Since issue 14 occurred, I left her to cool down for 45 minutes. She's now cold, but she's still a dead brick, refusing to restart. Very glad to have recorded issues 03, 06, 07, 08, and 14 on my iphone 3GS, so that I can take the evidence to my local Apple store tomorrow, and show it to them. With so many varied, serious problems being reported by iphone 5 users all over the world, it suggests a quality control issue at FoxConn. Perhaps FoxConn's staff deliberately performed countless bad assemblies, to draw the world's attention to their working conditions. I would suggest that Apple Cupertino contacts me, so that I can send them photographic and video evidence of at least some of these hardware issues. If you're running iOS 5.1.1 on a 3GS, 4, or 4S, I would advise you to stay exactly where you are, until Apple Cupertino solves these numerous problems with the iphone 5 and/or iOS 6.0. iphone 4 has become a brick, what do i do?
as additional info, I did not realize the last update, I think is a brick because of that, please help!!
After upgrading to iOS 5.1 one of my iphone’s completely lost his sound. The sound comes back once in a while for a few minutes. I tried everything (hard reset, restore, factory reset, all settings reset etc). On this forum i found a lot users with the same problem after upgrading to iOS 5.1. Unfortunately, there is no solution. The only one "solution" is replacement with a new iphone - warranty. Unfortunately, my iphone which I bought over a year ago through T-Mobile had already stopped working (after 11 months ) and I got a new one. Unfortunately, the guarantee of a new (Refurbishment) iphone was valid only 3 months.Since I upgraded to iOS 5.1 my iphone (without sound) is a brick and lies at the desk. Every few days I search the Internet to solve the problem. In my opinion is software problem. I can’t understand why Apple don't release a patch for so long. Many people over the world have the same problem. As a faithful user and a fan of Apple I’m very disappointed. Maybe You are able to help me. Please help me to solve the problem.Sorry for my English. How exactly do I get my iphone 3gs out of brick mode? CAN YOU HELP ME?
I've never had battery problems with 5.0 but immediately after update to 5.1 stand by battery life is less than 2 hrs, even less with any use. My phone is now basically a brick. I've tried the hard reboot, limiting services, and the the other recommendations short of a full restore as expecting me to spend 6 hrs of time by starting with a full wipe/restore is simply not an acceptable solution when apple broke my phone. I'm interested in understanding how apple plans to address the damage they caused to my, and what appears to be thousands, if not millions of other 4S phones. I've already provided feedback to apple, and I know I'm yelling to a deaf audience that has no ability to influence apple, but I just find it unacceptable that Apple so vehemently denies their products are ever flawed. Well iOS 5.1 is flawed, and it has made my phone useless.
PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! Just today, my iphone 4s became a brick, nothing less, nothing more......I CANT do anything with it as the only thing that appears on the screen is this message: ''We're unable to complete you...'' ''This device is not registered as part of the iphone Developer Program'' I saved a LOT OF MONEY for this device and now I can't even hear music, or see photos (I tried to do the 'restore' thing on iTunes and it wouldn't let me) H E L P P L E A S E !
Ever since updating over the air my iphone 4 will no charge using any o the chargers in my house? What now apple? What am I to do with a glass brick?
Hi,I purchased an iphone from Bristol based on confirmation from the apple showroom that iphone has global warranty. Unfortunately my iphone got lot of issues, sometimes whenever I call someone I want be hearing any sound, frequent drops of the calls and sometimes if someone else call me it will directly go to speaker mode!!!I contacted customer care and they told that since I purchased this phone from UK, my phone won’t be covered in India warranty policy, other options they had given is that I need to send it to UK ( I need to take all expenses to ship it to UK and Shipping expense to Ship it back to India). I am totally frustrated that my iphone (such a famous brand is not able to perform the functions of a basic mobile phone and I am not getting correct information regarding the service). Now my iphone is just like a brick that costs me around £500!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Could you please help me how should I proceed with???Thanks,Manoj
I have the iphone 4 and I have been trying to charge it for 3 days now. It will charge for 5 min then give me a "Charging is not supported with this accessory" message. I thought it was the cable so I tried 8 different cables. (I work in a hotel, I nab any chargers left unclaimed lol) Nope same issue. So maybe I thought it was the brick itself. I tried 6 Bricks. Nope same issue. Ok maybe by Laptop. Nope. By PC? Nope. By CAR CHARGER!?!?!?!?! Nope. Please help.
My phone is frozen, was in midtext when it froze up, all things are just as they were 2 hours ago including the battery life and time on the clock. I tried the sleep button and the off button, together as per the manual and indivivual, no reaction from the phone whatsoever no matter how long I hold the buttons. Does anyone know a solution? I'm afraid it's a brick now, 6 weeks past warranty date.
Is the charger for an iphone 4 (AT&T version) compatible with international power supplies? My daughter is leaving her iphone 4 at home, but is going to take the power charger with her to Europe to charge her iPod Touch gen 3. Does the power supply have an automatic conversion to work with the European electric system like the brick for a MacBook does? We don't want to ruin it, but if it is compatible that would be one less thing to plug into a convertor. thank you
At this point I am thinking to switch back to BlackBerry. Battery lasted me probably for 2 days with HEAVY usage! iPhone4s only lasts 4 hours with NO USAGE. I thought about hanging around and waiting for Apple to acknowledge and fix this since they are always coming out with updates, but it has been 3 months and battery is doing worse! Any of you have a workaround for the battery? FYI, i dont want to use the case with the extra battery, i did not buy a brick to use as a phone. Thanks!
APPLE REPLY TO THE COSUMERS ON HOW TO FIX THIS. im currently on IOS 5.0.1 9a406 still dsnt help in fixing the issue.what do i do with this brick?
My friend helped me get two unlocked iphone 4S for Apple online store (UK). He brought the phones back to Thailand and later found that one of the phones was locked to a UK operator. When we checked the invoice, it turned out that that phone's serial number did not match any of the serial numbers indicated in the invoice. Apple call center UK has been inefficient, useless, unhelpful, sometimes rude. After 3 calls, a total of 3 hours where I was transferred between departiments nad customer reps, I still end up with an expensive brick. The serial number on that phone, as I was told, is not shown to have been shipped to any part of the world, and not activated (duh). The phone whose serial number is in the invoice, but we did not receive it, is waiting to be activated. I wonder if things never get resolved, do we have the right to disable the phone whose serial number is shown in the invoice, and pursue legal action for its being stolen. At least we won't be the only person with a £500 brick.
SO HERE'S THE VERDICT: Sprint 3G *****. It's slower than AT&T's 2G, drops calls CONSTANTLY and it makes my iphone 4S a brick when off of WiFi. Of course I thought it was some software issue (a supposed leaked document said Apple and Sprint were working on it) but I compared it with my sisters Android phone (also on Sprint) and data speeds came out exactly the same. Because I that leaked document I ended up waiting past the 14 day return period. Basically, I want to cancel my contract and either move back to AT&T or go to Verizon. My question is if I cancel my contract on Sprint, can I use the same phone on Verizon or AT&T or do I have to buy a new iphone 4S?
Here's the deal. Whenever I am at work I hook the iphone up onto my MAC.Today everything worked ok. Untill I unhooked it.I was using the 'Voxer' app earlier and that worked ok.When I unhooked it, I went into the 'Voxer' app because I had a message. The whole phone froze up and a few seconds later the screen turned into a green static screen and went black. Now the phone is a black backlit brick. So I know it still 'works' (kinda) but the phone does not react to anything. Resetting does not work.It is hooked up to the mac at home and it does not show up in iTunes either. I am leaving it hooked up because I've read on this forum that sometimes this brings the phone back to life but I'm running out of patience. Any other ideas? Like I said, rebooting does NOT work. Holding down home and power button does not help. Thank you!!!Oli
Attention, freedom fans: here's how to jailbreak your iphone 4 or 3GS, even on the very latest OS: Friday's iOS 4.3.1. That'll allow you to break free from Steve Jobs' walled garden o' family-friendly, parody-free tyranny. Richi's going to hook you up with the resources you need, in The Long View...First things first: understand the difference between a "jailbreak" and an "unlock". A jailbreak allows you to install apps from places other than Apple's App Store. An unlock allows you to use a different cellular carrier than the one blessed by your phone, and usually requires you to jailbreak the phone first. Both are perfectly legal, and jailbreaking does not encourage software piracy -- no matter what Apple PR may appear to imply.Second: understand the difference between a "tethered" and an "untethered" jailbreak. A if a jailbreak is said to be tethered, it means that the jailbreak is undone if you reboot the phone -- in other words, you must connect your phone to your PC or Mac to properly boot it. An untethered jailbreak is the gold standard, because you don't need to muck about with any of that nonsense. At the time of writing, all the jailbreaks available for iOS 4.3.1 are tethered. If you don't understand the implications of that, then go back and read the previous paragraph! You'll need to use a jailbreaking tool to tweak the version of iOS on your phone. If you're using a Mac, you'll want PwnageTool; on Windows, you'll want Sn0wbreeze. You'll also want iTunes version 10.2.1 and a copy of the iOS 4.3.1 install image already downloaded. All the links for these and their detailed instructions are below, but first, here are some top tips, learned from bitter experience. Ignore them at your peril: Back up your iphone in iTunes before doing anything. Make sure you stop iTunes from automatically updating itself -- A long-term fear is that Apple may introduce anti-jailbreaking code into a future iTunes update, stop that software from auto-updating. Make sure you stop iTunes from automatically updating your iphone -- iOS updates will almost always undo a jailbreak and you may find that new updates aren't jailbreakable (at least, for a few days or weeks). Plug your iphone directly into a USB socket on your Mac or PC's case -- do not use a USB hub. Use a genuine Apple USB cable, or a 3rd party cable that you know to be of good quality -- some cheapo cables can appear to work fine for regular syncing and charging, but fail in subtle ways when jailbreaking. Be patient -- some of the steps involved in jailbreaking an iphone take longer than you might think. If it appears to have hung, it probably hasn't. Set aside plenty of time to do the jailbreak; the last thing you want to do is interrupt it mid-process.As ever, take care; read and understand all the caveats, both here and in the linked articles -- lest you create an expensive brick. Neither I, nor Computerworld are responsible for anything you choose to do with your iphone -- only you are.Taimur Asad is doing a consistently good job of explaining all the steps you need to take to jailbreak. Here are his guides to jailbreaking iOS 4.3.1 on Mac OS and Windows. Now what? Once you're jailbroken, you should see an app called Cydia. Open that and the world of open iOS apps is yours. In a future article, I'll recommend a few of the apps I use.
Hi, Ive had my iphone 4 stolen.Ive not got a mobile me subscription, (but Id buy one if it meant I could track the phone?) and havent installed any third party tracking app either. Is there any way it could be tracked? It seems silly that my network can send a shutdown signal, to essentially brick the phone unless its recovered, but cant have the device report its location...Thanks. iOS 4
I am very new to the community, so if I make any mistakes please let me know. When I got home and read about 4.3 I decided to upgrade. I connected my iphone 4, iTunes started and I checked for updates. It found the new version and I downloaded it. It started installing, but the progress bar (in iTunes) is the same now for well over 2 hours. It is about 10% and the progress bar on the phone is still empty. There were no errors. What can I do? Is it a very slow process and should I just wait? What can I expect as to how long it will take?If it is bugged, what can I do? Save to disconnect the iphone or will I brick it then? What are my options? Thanks for your advice! Custom-build Windows 7
Hello everybody! im new to the apple forums, but i feel i need somewhere to talk about my issues.Youll have to bear with me!Firstly, ive been enjoying apple products for a while now, i have a cracking apple TV. a brilliant G5 tower and a rather old, but just upgraded to SSD macbook. these are the apple products i love! but recently i disgraced my doorstep with an iphone 4. the story goes like this: i received my new iphone 4 at the end of february this year. it was so shiny and amazing! the most well built apple product ever to grace the palm of my hand! then one week later whilst enjoying the experience, it died. never to turn on again. so off to the genius bar i went! after a easy and painless appointment i was set up with a replacement iphone 4 and i was on my way, Brilliant! i applauded apples customer service at this point. until, as i sat down on the train ready to leave manchester, i pulled the phone from my pocket and set to download facebook via my 3G connection. i discovered, it had a really loose and wobbily home button! so i got off the train and headed back to the apple store, once their i made an appointment, attended it half an hour later, only to be told that a loose button is within spec now, one pays a premium to own the iphone 4.. just like for instance, one would pay a premium for a ferrari. it was like buying a ferrari with a wobbily wheel.. you wouldnt keep it, youd take it back to the dealership. so in my discust i phoned the apple customer service, explained my situation to them and was told to set up another appointment and theyd have the store replace it.. so an hour later and another shiny iphone 4..! apart from as i arrived back home, i found this one had a wobbily button aswell! i thought to myself, just my luck! 2 bad iPhones in one day! fast forward to today, after an arguement with the manager of the manchester arndale store, ending with me being kicked out and no replacement. i ended up trecking to the manchester trafford centre store, getting a fast and easy replacement their, and being told it would NOT be replaced again! well to my horror i just discovered this one is another £510 brick POS. i must have a really bad OCD! my first iphone 4 was perfect, as in inspected it from every angle when i removed it from its box, now these replacements im getting seem to be refurbished pieces of bleep .. this has caused me so much stress and im now sat here, quite upset and discusted at what im stuck with. i bought this as my birthday present, it cost me all my birthday money plus all of my savings. now i really wish i hadnt bothered! i honestly dont know what to say, as i must come across as a horrible person from what ive wrote here... but at the moment the apple stores have no interest in sorting out me issue. i just hope someone on here has some suggestions, thanks in advance,Lewis Barwick. 06 Macbook Core duo Mac OS X (10.6.6) SSD powered!
Care, eBay scams, eBay users are selling iphone from AT & T, as Factory Unlocked iphone.Fifteen days back I bought an iphone Factory Unlocked for use in Costa Rica, where we do not have any of the 4 versions of the iphone officially. Now I have an iphone brick, by the thieves who are on eBay, and after that the Resolution Center of eBay nor PayPal is working properly and are inefficient.Better be careful when you buy a factory unlocked iphone from eBay, I lost $ 1,200, thanks to these scammers. Now Apple, eBay, Paypal, or DEV-Team can help, a solution waiting for something that did not want to hacking the email@example.com MacBookPro2,2 Mac OS X (10.6.6) iphone 4, iPad, iPod Classic 30GB
I currently was cancelled out of my contract,so I paid the early termination fee(ETF). So I sled AT&T if they would unlock the phones, for I am going to redeploy again and did not want to end up with brick I just purchased in oct 2010. So I am asking if apple tech support would help me use the phones while on deployment in another country....help Ipad iOS 4
Ive heard how every new software update since 4.0 is going to fix my issues, but it hasnt. My iphone 3g is so bad, im getting close to bailing on the iphone completely for a droid. Ive been to the genius bar, they say its because its a 3g. Ive restored the phones from backups, or without backups, and the phone only improves slightly for a short time period. Id say 1/4 of the apps on the phone purchased crash in use. And lately, google maps, a native app, was crashing as well. I try to type anything, the buttons take a few seconds to even recognize it. Its just frustrating as you can imagine. What can I do with this phone? Im even willing to pay for the upgrade to the latest, but ATT&T says Im not eligible until like 2/2011. Ive been dealing with this since the 4. software was released. Whats the next step? I require a phone that is operational and works as advertised. Apple IIGS 16-bit 65816 at 2.8 MHz 256k RAM Mac OS X (10.6.5)
My iphone 3g has been tethered to my computer via USB since AUGUST 2010 and iphone software 4.2.1 and before that. It Would work untethered if I put the IPod on shuffle for as long as it took to run the battery out, about 1.5 days.I bought a new battery based on Apple Discussions, and was going to install it today. Note, *WAS*!Oddly enough, my iphone 3g now works GREAT. Hm, installed ITunes 10.1.1 (4) on 12/18/2010 and now the phone doesnt need the battery I spent $ for. I found out by mistake that it no longer needed to be tethered to my computer today.Im seriously disgruntled with certain Apple Discussions highly rated ppl telling me I was nuts for thinking it was software issues even though the iphone turned into a brick after a software update, and Im unhappy that Apple would NOT admit there were issues. In the meantime, Im not doing anymore freaking updates since I have a phone that holds a charge for HOURS and now works just FINE! (WITHOUT THE NEW BATTERY I THOUGHT I NEEDED)I love apple, and I hate them for lying to me about their software issues. Especially, Thanks to the butthead that gave me loads of manure for thinking it was a software issue, youre an ejit. iphone 3g iOS 4
I downloaded the latest 4.2.1 GM from the dev center. Running iTunes 10.1 (54). It just gets stuck every time. TinyUmbrella wont kick the phone out of DFU. I also tried modifying the host file. Nothing works. Ive had this issue before and sometimes it revolved around what iTunes version I was running. Please help. I have a brick right now. iphone 4 iOS 4
I dropped my iphone yesterday, and sicne then Ive had bad or for the most of the time No Service at all!Ive ran out of warranty, since its a second hand iphone and its a pain in the arse since trying to text on an old brick phone is near to impossible! haha :P So going back to an old brick phone isnt an option for me!Does anyone have any suggestions, rather then the usual turn 3G on/off - airplane mode on/off - restart phone etc! I believe its an hardware issue, if so - any fixes? Im not afraid of opening up my phone as Ive done it before to replace the back! Hey. got this problem.Today my iphone 4 that I have bought 4 days ago suddenly restarted and told me to restore it through iTunes because it was unable to make calls. So I did so, after the restore it told me that my iphone is probably damaged and cannot be activated for service...Is there any way I can possibly fix it ? Or do I have to take it back to the store?I bought it from T-mobile, and I didnt use Unlock software.I still have 2 days to take it back (7 day return policy) Any ideas what I should do? And if I take it back will it definitely get replaced? really dont wanna end up with a brick....Was using iphone os.4.1 HP Windows 7
This morning the phone was charged up to 96% and suddenly when I pulled it out, it refuses to start-up. Holding down the sleep/wake and home buttons also to no avail. Connected it to a car charger and the first screen (picture of iTunes and the USB cable) appears. Came back and connect it to iTunes and message appeared telling me the phone is in recovery mode and need to be updated. But whats worse is that the restore doesnt even happen forcing an error 2001 message.Called the Apple rep and even she was surprised this happens as Im on the Mac platform. As a result, she indicated that its likely to be a hardware issue. Am going down to the telco to get a one-on-one exchange. Jesus, Apple. This is clearly a huge disappointment. Anyone faced the same issue?PS: going through the unplugging all USB devices didnt work too. Huge huge disappointment. OK, as it seemed I needed to go back to 3.1.3 in order to correct the sluggishness of 4.0 and especially 4.1 I did. I then needed to set it up for a new iphone as my Time Machine backup only went back far enough to find a 4.0 backup. The iphone then synchronized for 24 hours and still it was only about half-way through the audio.I had to go out, so I cancelled the sync last night - thinking that I would just be short some audio but would have a working iphone again.No.I have almost all the same problems I had running iOS4.1. It crashes constantly. Sometimes it is totally unresponsive to the home button, the power button or the touch screen. But honestly it is very hard to tell if it is just sluggish sometimes or whether it is unresponsive or whether it has frozen or crashed - sometimes the lag would be literally a few minutes. So most of last night I was walking around with an iphone that was charged but: - I could not open and play a playlist without it stalling / crashing - I could not interact with my voicemail because I couldnt enter my password (I might press 3 and get no response or several 3s in a row when it finally responded) - I couldnt even open most applications without it stalling out and eventually going blackIs there a way to fix this thing???I am in Canada and bought this thing from Rogers when it was first released. They told me there was no AppleCare for iPhones in Canada and it would be covered for the duration of the contract with Rogers. Now they tell me that changed their policy and I should have bought AppleCare last year (the phone is 2 years old and I have a year left on the contract). Of course that isnt Apples fault - and Rogers doesnt know anything about Apple products so its not their fault (in a way) that they didnt know Apple policies - but I just want a working iphone.I only tell you that particular sob-show because it means I cant just return this brick to Apple and get them to fix it. I am on my own. This is frustrating especially since I have been a loyal Apple customer since 1986 and have always bought Applecare with each and every desktop or laptop.Any ideas - I am stumped - and cant return this 3G.Thanks in advance!W MacBook 2.2GHz Mac OS X (10.5.2) iphone 3G, iOS3.1.3 (formerly 4.1)
Hi,recently I bought an iphone 4 in an Apple Store in Paris, France, with the intent to take it with me to Sweden and use it with my local carrier there. The french iPhones are not locked to any carriers so this should work fine. At least according to the people at the Apple Store where I bought the phone. However, back home, i wanted to activate the phone with a micro SIM card from my carrier Telenor (who also has the iphone 4 in its arsenal of phones), but got the message The SIM card in this iphone does not appear to be supported, and thus could not activate the phone.I have talked to Telenor, but they cant see that there is anything wrong with the SIM card.I tried a micro SIM from another carrier, Telia, who also sells the iphone 4 here in Sweden, but got the same result.I have now tried the following things:2 micro SIM cards from two different carriersA number of restorations of the iphone software, using both SIM cardsA number of re-installations of iTunes (22.214.171.124)Activation via iTunes in a Telenor store - dont know which version they had, but at least is was from another computer than mine.Nothing seems to help. All I get is The SIM card in this iphone does not appear to be supported...The people at the Apple Store Opera in Paris, where I bought the phone, confirm that the phone is supposed to be unlocked and should work with any carrier in any country (as long as they support micro SIM). They have also checked the phone in their systems using the serial number and to them it seems like the phone has been blocked by my carrier. Is this possible? The serial number of the phone is 86031KBBA4T.Any ideas on what can I do to activate my iphone? Im starting to get desperate. I dont like the idea of having spent €739 (almost $900) on an electronic brick.Best regards/Martin DELL Latitude E6400 Windows XP

I have had my iphone 4 for about a month. worked great, have been installing all the updates but now i have to hard reset my phone every time i want to use it.I have tried restoring a backup, resetting to factory settings etc.I can see by the forums and many many other places on the internet that this seems to be a common serious issue with the IP4 and other iphones / ipods. too by the looks of it. After being on for a short while the screen goes black (as it would if not used for a few minutes) then clicking the home key or the power button does absolutely nothing. i then have to hard reset the phone by holding both buttons for 10 seconds. im not sure if this problem was caused by one of the updates but the phone is in perfect condition, only a month old. never dropped never got wet etc.i took the phone into an apple shop and they denied hearing it was a problem and suggested i restored the phone (which i have done)does anyone else have any other suggestions? I have enjoyed the iphone 4 as it has been the only one good enough to consider getting one but with all these problems i think ill go back to WM or Android becuase at least they dont turn into a brick every few minutes.please help, or at least confirm this is not just an isssue with my handsetN iphone 4 iOS 4
Hello,I just installed the 4.1 on my iphone 4. It works for a small time, I made some HDR-photos, then I switched to standby. A few minutes later I wanted to start, but nothing happened. The battery was full at 100%! A reset (pressing home and standby) doesnt work. Itunes doesnt recognize it It seems to be a brick Does someone have an idea?Regards, Patrick iphone 4 32GB iOS 4 iOS 4.1
Today I updated my iphones OS (original OS - not jailbroken) and after having downloaded the new OS, itunes attempted to install the new OS onto my 3G iphone. when the phone freezes, it has an apple logo and progress bar on the screen. It ALWAYS freezes at approximately 20% according to the phone screen. Itunes freezes at 50% when it is restoring iphone software.I have restarted my iphone over 3 times (by pressing and holding down both the power and the circle button) and the phone does restart but tells me to plug it into itunes. When I plug it into my computer and connect to itunes, itunes tells me i need to:check the iphone software update server to identify this deviceI click check and this works ok. However another error message pops up that says:iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used in itunes.I click ok and then press restore and it seem sto work except that it freezes again as i described above.Ive noticed other people are experiencing similar problems and wondered if they have found any solutions to this? Would really appreciate ANY help as at this state, my iphone is brick that doesnt work as either a phone, gaming console, or organiser.I am very disappointed with Apple for releasing an OS that in effect disables the core purpose of the iphone (a PHONE!!!) and now have lost confidence in their products. iphone 3G very unhappy custome
I have a 3g and due to the many reports that the new os turned them into useless chunks of junk I have not upgraded to OS4I am now reading that the updated version of os 4 is actualy good on a 3g but before upgrading I wanted some reassurance.I need my phone and really cant afford to have it turned into a brick. Please can you give me some advice. (Please nobody answer unless you actually know what you are talking about dont just guess.)Thanks iphone 3G iphone OS 3.1.3
