On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iPhone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iPhone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour. About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the Apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the Apple Store the iPhone was having such a melt down. The Apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode. Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button. I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iPhone 4S when the next generation iPhone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady
I have Purchased app on my iPhone 5. My credit card has got credited but the app is not getting downloaded.. It app shows it is in waiting mode and the status bar is not getting moving . What can be the issue? This is the first time I have purchased an app from my iPhone.
I contacted Orange UK and they said that this iPhone4 is ready to be unlocked, but they can't unlock the phone because I am not the original contract owner. Why can't Apple unlock this phone, because the original owner doesn't care and has sold it? As far as I understand, I am one of at least 3 owners for this phone. I guess there could be more. I just wanted to have a normal iPhone, why can't Apple help on this issue? I have previously had many apple products, this is the first one I bought used adn just wanted to restore it to normal. Another thing is that 3rd party services can unlock it for 200$. What is that they do to unlock it? Why can't apple make a small comission for unlcoking iPhones instead. People find ways to cheat and ripoff people who doesn't deserve to pay extra for the phone they bought. Is anyone having issues with a lack of sensitivity of iPhone 5 screen. I am having to touch items several times to select or scroll the screen, when it does scroll it "jumps" to catch up making it hard to operate smoothly. I Also notice that the screen appears to have shifted up slightly cutting off top of wi-fi and battery symbols. These symptoms don't always happen and I cant be sure I can show them to a Genius. This my 4th iphone, so my expectations are only what I have experienced with the others.
Hello everyone! I've got a problem with my iPhone 4S and I hope someone here can give me a hint on how to fix this... Last year in March I was on vacation in Las Vegas (I live in Austria/Europe) and bought a new unlocked iPhone 4S GSM in the Apple Store in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas including AppleCare+ (I just learned that iPhones can only be serviced in the Country where they are bought - my bad). Lately I was browsing through my Apple support profile and noticed that my iPhone was not registered there. So I tried to enter the serial number of the device and got this message:We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us. I knew this could not be true so I called Apple Care here in Austria and first I was told that - according to its serial number - my iPhone has been replaced, and that it never should have been sold. I also was told that I have no chance of getting any service for this device despite the Care Protection Plan because the device is invalid due to its status as "replaced". And last but not least I was told that I could never receive any service for this device because American devices cannot be repaired in Europe (I was not aware of this fact and would have expected the salesperson in the Apple Store to tell me because I definitely told him that I am from Austria). Meanwhile I wrote an email to the store where I bought the iPhone from but it's two days now and I have not received an answer (or any indication that my email was received) yet. Is there anything I can do? Yours,Michael
My third attempt to fix my iPhone 4s. I've gone through two phones calls, three associates, and one Tech. support supervisor. The only thing said to me was "I cant do anything". I've explained my problem, as thorough as possible but the only option was to purchase a replacment for $200. I've restored my phone multiple times with zero effect, each with a clean restoration of iOS 6.1.3. If there is a solution to this problem I will greatly appreciate it. Hello everyone, I rencently purchased an iphone 5 from a person selling it on craigslist. the iphone is an At&t model and according to the person i bought it from the device is unlock. Is there anyway of telling if this is true without inserting a sim card for a different carrier? Are those websites where one enters the IMEI number a safe way to determine unlock status?
My iphone 5 has been in store for what, 9 days. Getting impatient, my iPhone had finally been recieved by Apple. Unfortunately, I was expecting an replaced iphone as my iPhone had been completely destroyed by the post office. They dropped the phone at least 5 times, reporting they would request express service and call apple up. This issue had been fixed and I was requesting a replacement iphone. I would please like to know if my iPhone has been sent in the post yet, and if it has been replaced or serviced. I am very new to this and I would like your support ASAPRepair status Product:iPhone 5 (GSM, CDMA)Serial Number:F2*******TWFRepair ID:****Service Requested:April 17, 2013Status:Product replacement pendingStep 1 RequestApril 26, 2013: Product received by service centerStep 2 ServiceApril 26, 2013: Service completedStep 3 ReturnApril 26, 2013: Product replacement pendingShipping Address:Taranganba,Queensland ,4703Australia <Edited By Host>

Having troubles with the iPhone 4 and (re)pairing a Motorola H3 bluetooth headset. These two worked beautifully just last week in 2010.Bluetooth on phone working fine with another headset, so next step:1. Select Motorola H3 in Bluetooth menu2. Forget this DeviceThen, power-down the Motorola H3, and turn on while holding the phone button down until the led is continuously lit (pairing mode)The Motorola H3 appears in the Bluetooth Devices list with the status "Not Paired" and when selecting - produces the error:Connection UnsuccessfulMake sure "Motorola H3" is turned on and in rangeWhat's missing is the pairing passcode entry - weird! Thought it may be related to leftover data, so reset the iPhone (home button and power button) to clear the memory and remove any residue.Did not solve.
Hello! I have an iphone 4 that needed it's software to be updated to the latest version. I've downloaded the latest iTunes to my computer and connected my iPhone to it. A pop-up prompt let's me know that there is a newer software version available to which I click "Update." After downloading the software, the prompts are letting me know that it's "Backing Up Iphone." That is as far as I can get when trying to update. Usually the "status bar" will be slowly moving (letting you know the progress thus far) but in this case it doesn't. All it says is "Backing Up iPhone," and that's as far as it goes. My phone hasn't been updated and I am stuck at square 1. I am not able to download certain apps because I need a the latest firmware. If I restore my phone, then try updating will it work? I'm afraid to do that simply because if I rid my apps will I be able to download them again? I don't understand why the phone cannot get passed the "Backing Up" part. Please help.

My iphone 4 has locked after an attempt to update. The phone screen is now displaying the i tunes and usb cable symbols.
Hi all. I've already tried asking this elsewhere, but haven't really had much luck with help other than "it has to be a hardware issue". So, here goes. Note: it is far out of the warranty date, plus it's physically damaged. I have an iPhone 4 (16, I think) that was working aside from cracks in the screen. I saw it working a few months ago and it was given to me (it hasn't been used since). When I turned it on, it showed the iTunes and usb cable (indicating it needed restoring) so I tried restoring it (invalid build error I think). I kept trying again and again but got the 16xx error a few times. I have tried two different computers, different OSs, (one that didn't even ever have itunes installed) and I keep getting the same -1 error at the very very end of the restore. Early on, I was able to get it to boot and get to a passcode screen but then it said the iPhone needs to be restored after I unlocked it. It's almost like it's restoring fine and then suddenly it doesn't verify at the end with apple's servers or something. My apartment's wifi goes through an isp with security of some sort, I'm sure. Could that be an issue? I feel like it almost restores it but then it fails right at the end. Here is one of the logs--this one is the latest -1 error. It is abridged since most of it wouldn't fit. I don't know how to attach the full log. I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.0.2 (latest update) and AT&T as my carrier. I rarely get a signal while at home due to my house being a tri-level townhome, but I'm fine with that because I use Google Voice. My issue just started happening very recently. When I leave the house and head to work, where my LTE signal is super strong, my phone doesn't automatically connect to LTE, but instead goes to Edge. At home, my status bar usually has a "No Service" or 1 bar LTE/4G message. I have to reboot the phone in order to pick up the signal. I've done the typical software restore from backup and as a new phone, but the problem still persists. Again... This just started happening for the past two weeks, but was fine before. No software update coincided with my problem as it was updated long before my issue started happening. Is anyone having this issue?
My iphone was working perfectly at 17:00 but by 18:00 the left side of my screen wasnt working,I done a reset and updated to 6.0.1, and now part of it has come back but i now cannot open the first or third application on the left and i now have to hold down my symbols key until i type the first symbol. Any suggestions, it isn't covered by apple warrenty but I can pay to get it fixed if need be, but would like to avoid that, nearest apple store is about 25 miles away
After downloading iOS6 the iphone went to restart, after getting halfway through the status bar it freezes and wont complete the install and start. Any suggestions on how to get the iphone working again?

Hello Everyone I bought an iphone 4 from ebay. By what right HUTCHISON 3G UK LIMITED will keep my iphone lock. This is my property. I bought it spending my money. HUTCHISON 3G UK LIMITED is not unlocking my iphone without the contract person (First user of the phone). I would like to go for judgment. What do you think guys….. Please advise me
Hello, I bought my 3GS 2 years ago as part of a ongoing contract - I've just upgraded to a 4S and the carrier (SFR) have authorised the unlocking of the 3GS. Went on to itunes and followed the instructions and obtained a "congratulations your phone is unlocked" - during the process the 3GS has been upgraded to version 6.0.1 I have confirmed via another net site, by entering the IMEI, that the phone status is "unlocked". Sold the phone today and the new owner put in their SIM card (not SFR) and they have the "no service" error showing top left. We have tried the "Airplane mode" on/off We have tried turning off 3G and reboot (both buttons held) But still no joy. The carrier shows up as "SFR" and we can't see a way of "forcing" another carrier. The phone was legally unlocked via itunes (with authorisation from my carrier). How do we fix this "no service" problem so the new owner can use their SIM card? Thanks in advance for your help
Hi guys, On my iPhone 4S, the installation of apps (update or new) is blocked at half point with no explanation despite shut dow & restart of iPhone, quit & reopen of iTunes, erase & reinstall of app.Have currently 9 apps in my iPhone with status ' Installation ', but nothing happens. Any idea how to fix that ?Thanks in advance Yann de Linclays
I got my iPhone 5 about 3 weeks ago, and it ran really smoothly out of the box. I hooked it up to my computer and began to restore from my previous ipod touch backup when I stopped it from syncing. I saw that it completely copying my ipod settings (homescreen and all), so I then changed some of the sync settings (only sync checked items, don't sync movies, etc.) and let the iPhone and computer do their thing. When it was done, I had to delete some bookmark apps on the homescreen and all of the pictures iTunes synced over from my old iPod. After I took everything off that I didn't want on the iPhone, I redownloaded the apps I wanted, and everything went hunky dory. Then, I experienced my first problem. The weather app had trouble getting the weather for my current location, and it had nothing to do with the LTE of wifi network. I was able to get the other cities on the app, but it just wouldn't get my current location. It then began to work after a day or so. Either way, it wasn't a big deal to me. Then, a couple of days later, I was trying to call my friend while listening to a song by holding the pause button on the earbuds chord and waking siri up. I heard the noise that siri makes when she wants to listen to you, but then it turned off without letting me talk. This happened 3 or 4 times until I manually turned the screen on and called my friend. I then began to experience apps closing out of nowhere, which is so unlike the iPhone 5 because the chip is so fast. I was only running 2 apps in the background and was browsing on facebook when it happened. None of the apps were heavy on RAM, so it made absolutely no sense why it force closed. Apps tend to close about 3-4 times a week. Another problem I just faced today was with the music app. I was listening to a song when it began to skip and studder. When I restarted the song, it didn't happen again, but I noticed that the songs I was listening to were softer than I remembered and began to get louder and quieter without me doing anything. I soft restarted the iPhone and they were back to normal. This had nothing to do with the volume, as it was all the way up on the phone. However, the most annoying problem out of all of the issues is with the LTE. The speed is phenominal on Verizon (even faster than my wifi at times), but it sometimes takes a while to turn on when I come from an area where there is no service (in the subway tunnel) into an area with service again. It will take a while to turn on, and sometimes only the 3g comes on, which I then solve by going into settings and toggling the 4g switch off and back on again. However, there will be times where I leave my phone alone on my table for an hour or so. When this happens, the LTE gets stuck in off mode and I will not be able to go on the internet or use siri. It will still say LTE in the status bar, but I will not be able to get any cell service. Siri will say "Siri is unavailable", and making phone calls is also delayed. There is no way to fix it but soft resetting the phone, and everything goes back to normal afterwards. This is a brand new phone with the most up to date ios software. Can this all be the result of me doing a "restore from backup" instead of selecting "set up as new iphone"? Do these problems seem to be problems with the phone itself, or just with the software? I'm thinking it is the software, but I could be wrong. Are any of these things, or similiar issues, happening to anyone else and did those of you fix it somehow? Thank you for the help in advance, and I hope I can get my baby working the way it should soon!

When I download a podcast directly to my iPhone or iPad and listen to it I expect it to reflect that status when I come home. Instead the podcast downloads again in iTunes and then wonderful joy it changes the status to unplayed and I wind up having to figure out what I've listened to and what I haven't (I listen to a lot of 'em).
My music player on iphone 4s won't play music and keep scrolling through songs without stopping and there is a triangular symbol flashing in the status bar at top. I have tried turning off and on, rebooting and resetting to no avail.
My iPhone 4s just started doing several really weird things all at the same time. 1. I cannot open my email. I have tried turning off/on my phone several times to no avail. reinput all my info into the mail setup. nothing.2. My text messages come through, but my phone does not alert me. I suddenly see that I have a text, but not alert, no vibrate, no banner. then, several hours after I read my message, an alert may, or may not come through for that message.3. My phone is set to go into sleep mode after 1 minute, but it will not go into sleep mode unless I hit the sleep button on top. 4. My keyboard is not working properly, the letter pops up when I touch it, but doesn't actually input into my text unless I press it again several times. this does not happen with every letter everytime, but it does happen with all the letters/numbers/symbols some of the time. especially the space.5. The phone gets incredibly hot when in use for more than a few minutes, and while charging. any ideas?????
my iPhone 4 says " no sim" on the status bar instead of "AT&T with bars" - I can't make or receive calls or send texts....
Last week I was updating an app and got the message that the download failed and now it is still located in the update portion with status "installing" and the app itself no longer appears anywhere on my phone and today it has now done the same with a 2nd app. I am using an iPhone 4s w/iOS 6, experienced manner other issues since this software update

The moon icon (do not disturb) in status bar disappear when I return to home screen. This feature don't work
Got the iPhone 5 recently, opened it, worked like a charm. About two days ago, I tried to open the App Store to find a new game to try, waited, waited some more, and just wouldn't load. Now the odd thing is that the 'Genius' tab, and Search functions work just fine, it's the 'Featured' tab and the 'Charts' tab that won't load. The pinwheel in the top status bar cycles for a brief second, then goes away and I'm left with a blank page. I have tried the following: 1.) Hard reset (Hold the 'Home' and power button until the apple logo appears) 2.) Made and then restored from a backup (The brilliant idea that the "Genius'" at the apple store told me, in my eyes it sounded stupid to begin with) 3.) Switched off WIFI and tried going through LTE, the same the other way around Does anyone know of a fix for this? Keep in mind that this is not the same as the 'Cannot connect to iTunes' issue.
Anxiously awaiting my iPhone 5 order status to change to "preparing for shipment". I ordered by my phone launch day at 5:30pm Eastern Time. I was curious whether anyone else ordered around this time and if so have you gotten any shipment update information. I was hoping to get the email today so that I could anticipate an October 9th delivery date, but nothing yet. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks
