Immediately upon "upgrading" the iOS, my phone's battery life was reduced by more than half. I restored as new and it didn't fix it. Apple then replaced it with a new phone that unfortunately is also running 6.1.4 and it's the same battery situation, possibly even worse than the last one. Seriously, if this persists, I'm going droid when my contract is up. What good is any phone if you can't use it for more than a couple hours without having to plug in. Weak, Apple. Really, really weak. No wonder your stock is tanking. You're releasing garbage.
I just got back in an Iphone after being a droid guy for a few years and I am having an embarassing noob problem, I cant seem to find my library on my phone. First my laptop that had all my music stored on it died so i went to Bestbuy and got a new one, I signed into itunes and was able to get all of my music from the cloud, as far as "the cloud" is concerned i really no nothing about it other than it knows what I have bought and seems to back them up for me. The next week i got an iphone 5, I set it up on my pc and created a huge playlist and dragged it on over. My problem is that when I open Itunes on my phone it goes straight to the store and I cant seem to find MY library, if I go to MORE it shows DOWNLOADED and PURCHASED which contains the songs from the playlist. I dont know if im having a cloud problem, phone problem, or pc problem, can someone stear me in the right direction please.
Hi!Apologize if this question has been submitted multiple times. I just got an iPhone 5 within the last few days to replace the lemon of a droid that I had. I've noticed that as I surf, email, text, FB... the norm, that the phone runs warm. So far, it hasn't gotten excruciatingly hot, or anything, but I usually turn all apps off to let it cool after I notice. Is this normal?? Other friends of mine also have the phone but say they haven't noticed it. Just concerned that it may need to be replaced.
I got my first audiobook with the free audible trial yesterday and after I downloaded it from the audible website, I was able to open it and listen to it in iTunes on my MacBook. However, when I synced my IPhone to my MacBook, everything but the audiobook got transfered over. The audiobook was categorized under "audiobooks" in iTunes, so I know that the audiobook did not get thrown into a playlist under music in iTunes. I confirmed this after searching through my iTunes library. in itunes, I even made sure to check the box saying "Sync Books", however, I noticed that iTunes did not give me the option of changing the drop down menu specifying what kinds of book would be synced to the iPhone. I attached a print screen of this menu. As you can see, this drop down menu is frozen (light grey) and is restricted to only books and PDFs, which I assume does not include audiobooks. In the end, my audible mobile app shows that my audiobook has not been put on the iPhone because whenever I press the "Refresh" button, it shows that the iPhone had not yet been downloaded (I couldn't downloaded it through 3G because the audiobook exceeded 50MB). Thank you, and hopefully you can help me figure this issue out.
How do I make custom ring tones. This is one of the few features I miss from my droid.I can't figure it out.
Choose the Network Enter the Password Just get a loading circle...never get the Wifi sign on the top bar Tried resetting network connections, Hard restart, and renewing lease...nothing Coworker's Iphone 5 and another's droid have no issues connecting
This is a minor issue that'll probably end up in the hands of some apple tech, but I'm curious to see if anyone else is experiencing this. After updating my phone to 6.1.1, I noticed that occasionally I did not hear anything when playing music through earphones. An attmept to adjust the volume simply displayed the "ringer" icon and no volume meter. When I launch a new song from stopped (not paused), there was no sound or any ability to control it. I unplugged the earphones; the play icon remained, it normally disappears indicating a pause. Plugged back in and music started coming through. Text/Ring tones are still audible; good because I use it as an alarm clock. The phone is behaving as though it were "docked" though the music playback thing is just weird. I haven't tried playing music while it is actually docked yet. Will try a restore tonight after work.
Since 6.0 my battery life has nose dived dramatically. Before hand i could go a day without charging. Now i'm lucky if i can make a day..:(. Support desk could only suggest re formatting to new..which i've done like 5 times now. Apple store itself had no ideas either. They tested the battery and said it was fine. All i do really is text look at fb and sport scores. Today even checking fb at work..it used 35% in about 3-4 hours. Any ideas anyone. Eligible for upgrade in may...and droid looking a possibility as this has me frustrated to no end. Appreciate any help ty.
i want to disable my son's iphone for texting while driving. I can find apps for droid and blackberry but not the iphone. does this exist for iphones?
I purchased, directly from Apple in Spain, an iPhone 5 (32GB) to replace my aging 3GS.I received the new phone and transfered all my data from the 3GS to the 5 using iCloud. In my 3GS I only used the Apple provided headphones, with volume limitation (as normally, the volume will be too lowd, specially with modern, post "lowdness wars" records), to about 80-75% of the total volume. I'm actually using the provided EarPods with the iPhone 5. Now, aside from the difference in sound characteristics (the EarPods sound is more "round", with noticeably more bass), I immediatly noticed that the overall volume coming from the iPhone 5 is lower than the 3GS. I can safely use the phone with max'ed volume, without fear of damaging my ears. And when I turned the "EU volume limit" feature, the sound is barely audible, specially in noisy situations, like the subway or a bus. The feature is just useless. This is even true with clear "lowdness wars" records, that sounded too lowd in the 3GS. I would dare to say that the max settings in the iPhone 5 are similar to my volume-limited settings in the iPhone 3GS.Again, I never used other headphones other than those provided by Apple, and the songs are from the same files, as I restored my settings from my previous phone. Anyone seeing similar volume problems, specially with the EU volume limit settings?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2246056/Woman-takes-picture-mobile-phone -stolen-nightclub-unwittingly-sends-owner.html A woman has unwittingly taken a picture of herself on a stolen iPhone that has then been sent to its rightful owner. With a downloaded app, the owner was able to take a photo of the woman as she tried to unlock the +$400 (£319) mobile phone, as well as map the phone's location after it was stolen from the Coalition nightclub in Brighton, East Sussex earlier this month. The owner, armed with the information and the photo emailed to them by the app, called Sussex Police. The dark-haired woman appeared to be sitting in a car as she tried to access the white iPhone 4. Police said they do not know whether the woman pictured was responsible for the theft but they appealed for her or anyone who recognises her to contact them. Pc Gavin Crute, of Sussex Police, said: ‘The owner of the camera has a rather cool app that takes a picture of anyone who tries to unlock it, maps their current location and then sends all the info back to the owner in an email. ‘We know where and when the photo was taken and it appears to be in a vehicle with quite a large sunroof. ‘We don't know that the woman is the person who stole the camera, but she obviously has had some connection with it in the meantime and I'd like to speak to her about it.’ Anyone with information is asked to call Sussex Police on 101. There are various iPhone apps that track stolen iPhones. It is thought that the app used was iGotYa which is activated when a wrong passcode is entered into the phone keypad. iGotYa is a third-party app, made by Cyndia, which is not available in the official Apple store. It is an alternative to Apple's free Find My iPhone software, which shows a stolen phone's approximate location on a map but does not take a picture of its user. Device Locator costs $2.99 (£1.86) allows the phone owner to track the location of a misplaced iPhone and take a photo which is then sent to a website where the photo can be viewed. This app also allows the user to trigger an audible alarm on the phone. GadgetTrak costs $3.99 (£2.48) can generate location reports, send discreet messages to the device and also take a photo of the thief. The latest statistics reveal 170 iPhones are stolen every day in London, many of them from pedestrians targeted by muggers on bicycles. The wife of Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason recently said she is now too scared to use her phone in public after she was mugged while walking her dogs. Annette Mason had her iPhone snatched from her grasp by a bike-riding hoodie as she was trying to send a text. Okay just who do I gotta convince at Apple to get them to add this to the App Store? Or at least get the feature where a picture, location, date & time is sent back to my email whenever someone enters in the wrong password? I just heard about this story today & taught that's an incredibly beneficial feature to have. Now my iPhones not jailbroken and I really have no interest in jailbreaking so I can't get this app but I would vary much like to see this added to Find My iPhone.
ok i was getting sick of the constand clicking when i was texting my people, so went to "settings" "sounds" "keyboard clicks" and turned it off. but for some reason, it stopped the text notifications too!! now my phone only vibrates when i get a new text. I went back and turned the keyboard clicks back on, and it still doesn't click when typing, and still doesn't give audible notification on new texts, what do i do??? ive synced it on itunes, and reset all settings, and it still is not responding, do i have to restore the *&$^!! thing again??
I purchased my first iPhone when the 5 came out and for the first month, everything was great. About a week after I upgraded to IOS 6.01 (don't think this was the problem though), I noticed the phone was warm when I unplugged it from the charger and every hour it consumes 20% of the battery. Battery is totally dead in less than 5 hours even if I don't use the phone at all. When I look at usage the standby and usage are almost almost the same despite the fact the phone is not being used during this period. I tried a total reset but when I restore the phone, the problem returns. If I don't restore the phone, the problem is gone. I have a number of apps, some of which I have paid for and if I don't restore them, do I have to pay for them again if I download them again? Can I drag them into the device from iTunes if I don't do a restore? One thing I was quite disappointed in is there appears to be no way to do a partial restore either from iTunes or iCloud. It appears to be an all or nothing situation. I would love just to bring back my settings and put the rest back on manually. My best guess is that I have managed to contract a virus which is constantly accessing the internet (I suspect these do actually exist though there is little publicity about iOS viruses), or one of my apps is misbehaving (I have about 20 loaded), but have no idea which one. I had not installed a new app before this happened though I did update quite a few. New apps are Apple tested, but not updates! Is there way of measuring how much data usage a specific app is using? I see under usage that I can tell how much space it is using but that is not my problem. If I have a renegade application it will take a huge amount of time to figure out which one is misbehaving if I have to reload them one at a time until the problem starts again. There has to be a way to see which apps are consuming the device's bandwidth. Suggestions? Very frustrated... almost enough to go back to my old droid...
I'm unable to connect to my Bluetooth pioneer car stereo with my iPhone 5; never had issues with my $59 lg droid. Anyone else having issues? More importantly, any solutions? Disappointing nonetheless.
When my iPhone 5 is connected to my vehicle's bluetooth, tones for texts, etc are not audible. How do I fix?
Recently I've been noticing that my text messages that I'm sending to my friend aren't what I'm actually sending. Part of the texts are what I said but then it completely changes everything and actually ends up sending something I sent weeks/months ago in place of the message I just sent. So far I've only seen this happen with her. She had an ATT droid and I have an ATT 4S. Has anyone experienced this or know what I should do? Its really getting annoying. Heres an example. "Ehh I guess ruthless isn't the right word. He just has the fight and the will to stand up for what's right and won't stop until its done. He's determined. I guess that's the better word lol." She received, "Ehh I guess ruthless isn't the right word. He just has the fight and the will to stand up for what's right and won't stop until its done. He's determined. I procrastinated big time on the reading. Instead of spreading it out through 4 weeks I'm doing it in two days. Yup... Great move lol." I sent that exact message to her about 3 weeks ago. Anyone ever deal with this? Thanks for the help in advance.
Hi,I've a iPhone 4 16gb unlocked purchased from Canada and is still covered under apple care program. My phone keeps switching between audible mode and silent mode when I switch on the silent key. Since this phone is discontinued and If I take it to a apple store will I get a replacement or will they repair it? If under replacement, Can I get 4s instead of 4? Regards.
I have had a few problems with my new AT&T iPhone 5 6gGB and I am continuing to experience abnormalties. 1. The first iphone 5 I owned had a very serious rattle, the apple store keyboard login problem, and data leakage. I had to keep it for a few weeks because they had no replacements at the time. So I was told. Employee who should not be named, dropped the box while I was watching and said it would be okay. This was not a loose battery rattle, but the Apple store employees breaking out in dance type of rattle when shaking my phone - seriously the used it as a Maracca. It was definately confirmed that it was not the battery, the camera lens suspended by magnets, or the power button. All issues were reproducible in the store. I went through 5Gb of data in 2 weeks with this phone. Thanks for the warnings AT&T, 2. Got a new phone, had the camera issue (purple haze - didn't bother me that much since I don't take photos while staring into the sun or in direct light), got no LTE/4G signal at all when I connected to wifi. Phone would say "no signal" and there were zero bars. This is a problem. Funny thing is, when I turned off wifi; it would temporarily give me full bars and then drop back off. I could not make calls during this time. Reset, restored the phone as new, and after having no luck, returned the phone to the Apple store. I got a replacment phone after the genius bar ran diagnostics and apparently found what I found. 2. Now with this being my 3rd Iphone 5. I have done a little more research into my issues. My iphone as well as everyone i've talked too have tried and tested a theory that the phone cannot connect to LTE while on a phone call. This was also given to me in blunt language by AT&T. I was told that I shouldn't expect the phone to stay connected to LTE while on a phone call because the network and phone will not allow it. I must be mistaken, because the first iPhone I had did not take an excess of 40 seconds to perform a search for www.google.com. It was connected to LTE while using Apple maps and I was talking on the phone. Irony I know. I sent them my speed test results and I was told 0.60 mbps was normal for 4g and there were no outages. It was a little low said the rep, but still within range. This was tested a few times, with AT&T having me reset connections, restore the phone, etc before I was told that this is normal for all phones on the network. It takes me more than 30 seconds to load a map across town on LTE if i'm on the phone. This is unacceptable in my opion. I bought the phone for its capability to multitask, not be neutered by some unknown changes. Below are my recent tests while testing this theory. The results really go from bottom to top. The 22.84 mbps down is while not on a call. All results up to the 10.13 mbps and 9.12. mpbs are after I got off the phone with AT&T and reset my network settings. It took 3 resets to get LTE to reconnect in which I got the awesome, but temporary 54.61 mbps down. My average results are normally 20-30 mpbs down and around 20 mpbs up (attached below). This is all while sitting stationary in a parking lot in between 3 AT&T antenna's. I checked because the rep originally told me that they had a tower down near me. If you look closely, I got 0 upload several times and this is just "googling" google. Attempted to connect a few times to the app store and got "app store not available" message. I'm not sure what AT&T/Apple has done but I didn't really have a problem loading maps while on the phone on my iphone 4. Nor on my first -broken iphone 5. It was actually a bragging point for a while. I'm saying Apple too because this could probably be fixed with a firmware update. The results really go from bottom to top. This is my average speed in North Atlanta, GA on LTE The other issue I noticed was the weight. Although it's still light, it just "felt" different. They gave me a replacement phone wrapped in paper or cardboard and I immediately felt something different about the phone. I asked the Apple store salesman if something was up or if they gave me a Verizon phone and he didn't know any difference. I know the various websites lists the stats at 3.95 oz, but I got something different. My phone weighs in at 3.81 oz. I tested 4 other iphones and they were all 3.7oz. All AT&T with ghost armor and clearcoat and got that same weight. I used stamps.com postal scale and a regular postal scale that was not usb with the same results. I weighed each 3 times and didn't breathe during the test (I'm not a scientist). What is different about my phone than theirs? My phone actually feels different, but I have no idea why. Do any of you? I noticed another issue when rubbing the phone along the bottom. Where cell antenna 2 meets the unibody, there is a obvious detent in the surface. If you ran your hand along this antenna it was obvious. Even more obvious when I went to get my phone clear- coated. I'm a little nervous about not having anything protecting the phone. This made the detent more obvious because the coating guys could not fill this spot. They immediately recommended I get it checked out before getting it coated, but I told them to do it anyway. I just got the 3rd phone what else could be wrong with it I asked myself. Images below. you can stick your fingernail in this separation Sorry for the picture quality. I had to use the iPad 2 to take the pictures. The other iphone has been erased. Another issue i've noticed is that the home button seems to get stuck and makes an very audible click/crack noise when it's been sitting for a while. Other iphones make a normal clicking noise - I've also tested this with several of my friends phones. Once you've hit the button about 10 times the sound goes away, but if you let it sit for a while (few hours) the sounds and force it takes to press the button returns. Are any of you experiencing the same problem? The other problem is the phone was given to me with a scratch. I was first snippy about people complaining about scratches, but once it is seen it can't be unseen. I noticed it, but initially thought it was some crap left over from the little package they gave the phone to me in. At this point, I was getting tired and only looked for very obvious differences as I tried to restore my contacts before leaving the store. I walked away from the Apple store directly to the clear-coat guys. The clear-coat guys are good at pointing out problems, but it was 8:50 PM and the mall closed at 9PM. I was not in a mood at this point. The issue isn't that I could take the phone back, but to see if anyone has the same issues. Scratches are not that bad, but they are in a spot where I can't cover them without a case. I also have some on the top right edge of the front of the phone. I have been and always have been very careful with my iPhones. My other iphone is still coated and in a case from day one. I haven't even had the chance to put this in a case yet, but I have had it coated which can not cover these scratches. I'm trying to avoid the case right now as I like how thin the phone is without it. I will probably take it back, but not going to be a happy camper. I have tried several fixes for the "soft" issues I have. I've reset, restored, reset again, set up as new iphone, etc. Nothing really helps the problem. A bug report has been filed- might need to file again. Has anyone experienced any of these issues and what solutions have you had in regards to them? I know there are normally bugs to work out on the first release of any product, but this is slightly exhausting.
When trying to download an audible book through the audible app, it will not download over the cellular network. It says that I must connect to wifi since it is over 50 mb. Is there a setting somewhere that I can force it to download over the cellular network?
I recently updated my iPad 2 and iPhone 4S to iOS 6. Now, when I am in my home and connected to my Wi-Fi, they won't hold the signal and my connection fluctuates between the Wi-Fi and 3G Wireless Coverage, about every 10 seconds... therefore disconnecting Facetime and anything I am trying to watch via streaming... it is extremely annoying.... The iPhone 5 had this problem and an update was sent out to update to Verizon Carrier Version 13.1... but as of yet nothing has been released to help owners of the 4S or older ipads fix this problem... WHY?? I just bought my 4S in February so going to the Apple store and having a Genius tell me to sell it and upgrade to the iPhone 5 for about $300 difference is very upsetting... I hadn't a problem with the phone before iOS 6 came out... why wasn't I warned before I upgraded, and why was an upgrade sent out when it would give most owners problems...??? I have restarted both the wireless router in my house and both the iPad and iPhone.... nothing works... and I doomed to have to use these devices this way until an upgrade is available to either the operating system or my verizon plan? If so, I will be buying a droid and kindle fire in the near future!! HELP!
I rebooted/reset and still the same. The rotation lock is unlocked. It will rotate in Messages, but not Contacts. The Search Phone screen (swipe left to right) will not rotate, the Home screen will not rotate, none of the Phone screens will rotate. The Mail screens will rotate, Safari will rotate. Settings will not rotate. I'm new to iPhone coming from a droid. Does the iPhone only rotate some screens, but not others. Is there a list somewhere?
Arent you suppose to be able to hear out of both speakers on the iphone 4? i just got a new one on august 26 as part of my warranty and i hear nothing from the left speaker. only the right. It hasnt even been 30 days. This is my 2nd iphone in 9 months!!!! Please help!! lol.
My Power button is stuck again...... like many, many other owners....like two of my previous iPhones. According to the Genius at the Genius Bar in Reno, Nv., my warranty is void because the LCI which is located in the ear-jack hole on the top, has come in contact with moisture/humidity/sweat. My iPhone has never been dropped or wet. My iPhone4s is in pristine conditon and is in great working order except for the "stuck" power button, but because of a poor quality and location of the ear-jack hole, my warranty has been voided. Everything I have is Apple. The Rep/Genius in Reno while fullly aware on the chronic power button problems, tried to put the stuck button on an exposure to moisture. He said, "It doesn't matter if mositure didn't cause the button to stick or not. Your warranty voided because of the Liquid Contact Indicated turned color. Of course, the "power/sync" hole LCI is perfect. Thank you Apple! I think I'll refuse my iPhone5 delivery on Friday and go buy a "droid" phone. Hey, who out there wants to buy my new iPhone5 when it gets to me on Friday???
After having my first iPhone stolen, I decided to try the app "Find my iphone" on my friend's loaner iPhone 3GS to see how and if it really works. When I turned it on, I ensured that these were all setup: - Location Services: ON- Find My iPhone: ON- Cellular Data: ON (3 Bars Service at the time)- WiFi: ON and connected to the router- Internet utilizing apps: ON and in use Doing all this, I went to iCloud.com and decided to locate the phone, and test out the Find my iPhone feature. After 5 attempts to locate and 1 attempt to send the phone a message, it still came up as "No Location" and then "Offline". I was browsing the internet on iPhone's Safari App, while these "finding attempts" were going on. What a miserable fail. Now I'm wondering if whoever stole my iPhone 4S is actually browsing the internet and having a wonderful time while I sit here miserable, thinking that this feature actually provided a service that I could use to find my phone. Appears to me, through my experience, that this is a total fluke. My sister's droid actually has a phone finding app that works. It was very disappointing to hear that her non-Apple product topped the abilities of my iPhone 4S. As much as it hurts, I actually decided that I will switch to that new Samsung sIII in the following week. I feel like I got jipped by my favorite company
When connected to one person, I hit the "+" button, select a contact, and then the iphone indicates it is calling the 2nd person but the 1st person remains audible on the call. After a few seconds, the 2nd call appears to go through because the "merge" button appears as well as the name of the 2nd person I called. However, when I tap the "merge" button, the 2nd caller is not there. When I hang up with the 1st person and call the 2nd person, they tell me they didn't receive the 1st call to them. Is this a phone problem or user problem? Thanks,
When using the emoticon keyboard, how can you get them to show up on other smartphones such as a droid?
I have 2 ipod touches and an iphone on my apple account. One of the ipods belongs to my grandson. Today I got caught in a 3 way text converation between my grandson and his friend. As the title states, it started showing up on my iphone. I currrently have the person from today set with no audible notification for text messages. What I would like to do is keep it from showing up at all. Is there any way, short of setting up a seperate account, to keep conversations limited to the device being used? If not, I can do that, just prefer not to. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give me.
My phone key tones are audible now even though keyboard click noise turned off. i have turned keyboard clicks on and off and turned iphone on and off but still happening.
I currently have a droid and i'm thinking about switching to a Iphone.. I read reviews for T keyboard they all said there isn't any but the reviews are a few years old.. didn't know if something new came out..I found some but you have to copy and paste the words into messaging don't want anything like that. If i have to jail break my iphone for a T9 keyboard i will do so.. Please help!
Phone does not have audible ring
My phone no longer rings to announce incoming calls?
The call is not audible. It seems as one of the speakers (left) is not functioning. How to resolve?
I got an iPhone 4S the other day & at the Verizon store they were able to transfer all my contacts from my old phone (droid Incredible), and on that phone with the names on my Contacts List, it would automatically give me the option to link that info with the person's Facebook profile, so that when I opened a contact I would see their profile picture, all their phone numbers, email address, etc. I was told that with my new iPhone would be able to do the same thing, that once I downloaded and installed the Facebook app, the first time I opened it and logged in I would be prompted as to whether or not I wanted to sync my contacts, but THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. So now my contacts list has several names listed 2-3 times, once I guess from my old phone, once from Gmail, and maybe once from Facebook? I've tried looking through all the settings, for 'Contacts,' 'Accounts,' even Facebook itself, and I haven't been able to find ANY place where I can merge or sync my contacts to get them how I want. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there not a way to look at my contacts list, see just one listing for each person, and have that listing include their Facebook profile picture, all their phone numbers, their email addresses, etc.? Help please!
Ive found several devices or apps that actually block Texting emailing even calls for phones in motion. But they all seem to work with droid or every other phone besides Apple!? Does anyone know of a device or app that actually BLOCKs a driver from texting while driving. If not why doesnt apple support this? This is a safety issue!
I use a couple of gmail (and Google Apps) accounts for work - I read email on my MBP or using the Mail client in on my iPhone 4S. I'd like to go about my day without checking email every ten minutes, but when I receive an important email (e.g. from my boss, or a client), I'd like to be notified immediately, i.e. in some audible way. How can I do this? Can I set up the iPhone Mail client to beep (only) when email shows up from a specific address? Can I set it up to notify me via SMS to my ATT phone or my Google Voice account? Thanks.
I would like for my phone to vibrate only when I receive a new email or text message, but still ring when I get a phone call. Please tell me there's a way to do this! I've looked everywhere on my phone settings and it just doesn't seem to work. Don't make this former droid user regret purchasing an iPhone 4S!
my droid phone AUTOMATICALLY synched with my gmail account!!!! It backed up SMS,call logs calenders etc, etc. I can't find anything or anyone that can explain how to do this without it costing money!!! can anyone help??
Is there a way to turn off any audible notifications (such as new e-mail or new text message) while on a phone call? I want it on when I am not on a phone call but don't want to hear it in my ear when I am actually making a phone call.
I searched forums for a week now, and have tried every offered solution...NONE have worked. I am at the point of replacing it, but would rather get a droid than pay 600$ for a 4s. Along with the apps I am having trouble connecting to the cellular network, which is likely more to do with network than phone; though I haven't had any of these problems before upgrading to IOS 5.1.1
This thread concerns IOS 5.1.1. update and the subsequent loss of volume button functionality and use of internal speakers. Please can someone help from the mac team! It's not a jailbreak phone. only purchased in early April on O2. Updated to 5.1.1. yesterday morning and now the volume buttons are virtually redundant!. Here are the symptoms; When the volume buttons are pressed on the home screen i get "ringer" and the speaker symbol appear but nothing more (ie. +/- volume)When playing back from iTunes with no headphones in, I get nothing through the internal speakers, nor do the volume buttons work, nor is the volume slider visable. When i playback Youtube content with no headphones in, I get nothing through the internal speakers, nor do the volume buttons work, nor is the volume slider visable. With headphones plugged in sound is audible and volume buttons work.Whilst using voicemail, (no headphones connected) i can play the message through the speakers and control volume using side buttons. What's the deal Mac Support? I have restored the phone twice and also given the headphone jack a good blow with Servisol Duster 101. Thanks, P
iwant to switch carriers but keep my iphone not get another droid
i was wondering how easiest way i can transfer contacts from droid to iphone.. i had a droid thru sprint and upgraded to iphone4.. droid is not activated, iphone is.. which would be better: sync info on droid (its not activated, can i connect to wifi tho, instead of mobile network and sync to google? ) then open google somehow (how??) on iphone 4 and sync?? or connect droid to usb and laptop and somehow transfer to iphone4 as a different folder or drive? i don't use outlook or anything, can i just use windows explorer and drag and drop or something? or is there maybe a specific app that takes care of this?? even how to transfer all info from droid onto SD card and transfer THAT to iphone??? trying to figure out easiest way to transfer my boyfriend's stuff.also, what best ringtone app for iphone..thanks!! (former ipod user turned droid user turned back to iphone user lol) -kristin
I want an app that droid and other smart phones use. How do I ask if apple can make one like it?
Well, im getting a new phone in 2 weeks and my original plan was to go with the droid Razr because of it's odvious features over the iphone. The bigger screen, longer battery life, duribility, and size. The thing that got me sold on the Razr was the 4G. So, i was wondering when the iphone will be coming out with 4G and if i should go with the Razr or not.
I am finally getting ready to get rid of my old broken down droid. I am an apple user, but missed the iphone release with Verizon by about 1 month. Now that my contract is almost up, ready to switch over. My question is, if I have access to icloud on the phone, do I need any larger amount of memory that the 16Gb? Someone I work with was telling me that they sync photos and itunes with icloud and keep them off of their iphone to use up less memory? The only drawback I see there is you have to have wifi or data connection to access your stuff. Is there something else I'm missing? What's the benefit of going with the 32 vs 16 if I can store my data on icloud...besides what I mentioned.
I no longer hear any key clicks or notification sounds, only a faint buzz from vibration, on my iphone 4S. Ringtone is still audible. Siri is also muted though I see the microphone is being activated. However, no other tones are. Checked all settings in sounds and all seems correct. When I push the volume button on the side, the display says ringer (headphones). So, I plugged headphones in and I am able to hear all of the sounds through them but not without the headphones. I've tried turning the phone off and on again and resetting with no results. Any suggestions? Thanks!
Is there an app or setting that can be changed so that when a special weather alert is issued "TStorm Warning or Tornado Warning" reguardless if my phone is on silent, vibrate or normal. I can get an audible sound or led flash to alert me?
After installing iOS 5.1, the battery drain on my iPhone 4S is much worse than with 5 or 5.0.1. Battery down 14% in the last hour. Apple techs contacted me about battery issues with 5.0.1. I even let them install a diagnostic tool on my 4S that allowed them to collect data. I am beginning to think this is a hardware problem. I am on a 64GB 4S on Verizon. My wife is on a 32 GB 4S on Verizon and her phone is just fine. With 5.1, I did the OTA update first. After noticing the severe drain after the install, I did a clean install, restoring as a new phone. Location services are off, including the time zone settings, etc., Bluetooth is off, and all email accounts are set to manual. All apps are set not to push notifications. Tonight at a church function, battery was draining so fast that I put the phone into airplane mode. Still dropped about 7% in 20 minutes with doing absolutely nothing on the phone. Apple, I hope you are reading this. I dealt with thus since the release of this phone. Got it the first day it was out. Spent the night at the Verizon Store on Cobb Parkway in Atlanta to get my first iPhone. Was first in line. I couldn't wait to get rid of my droid X. My iPhone 4S, while being an incredible device, has been an utter disappointment when it comes to battery life. Your ads for this phone touted great battery life. That has been far from reality. I believe you are headed for a. class action lawsuit if this is not fixed soon. I am so tired of being tied to a power outlet. At least my Android would last all day.
I have had my iPhone 4 from ATT for over a year now! About 2 weeks ago, I started missing phone calls, not receiving text messages and I find that I either have 1 or 2 bars or it's searching??? This never happened before and it's happening in random places that are NOT "different places?" This is very frustrating and I'm now considering a droid!!! Any Suggestions???
When I flip the switch on the side to put the phone in silent mode, Siri still beeps and talks. The valume buttons don't do anything. I know the silent mode is working because all other sounds are silenced. I have also noticed the audio buttons have no effect on at least one game and I've had a few issues with the audio coming out of the phone even when headphones are plugged in, but it is not consistant. Thoughts?
