Red light on next to earpiece iphone 3G

Okay, heres the story: My friend spilt water on me and a little bit on my phone. Immediately, I tried drying it off and the phone was working fine. Later that evening, when I would try to use my phone by pressing the Wake/Sleep button, the screen would come up, but would quickly start to fade away. The phone then turned off completely. I noticed that there was a very small red light on next to the earpiece. It looked like a C with a dot in the middle. I also noticed that the area around the earpiece was very hot. After this, I tried plugging my phone into the wall. I tried taking the SIM card for a bit, I put the phone in some rice, and I plugged it into my MacBook (but the phone wouldnt even show up in my iTunes). The light has turned off and the phone is no longer hot, but the phone still wont turn on.Could anyone shed some light on what to do now?

Pictures no longer displaying in Email iphone 4

3 days ago, pictures in email were working great, no problems in any of the 3 email accounts I have loaded (Yahoo, .me, and Google apps Premier through exchange). Now in any account, any email, the pictures are replaced with a question mark. regardless of the account. Pictures that used to be displayed now show a question mark and any new picture does as well. Even when a new picture comes in, say a 2mb picture, it gives me the option to download the whole 2mb file, and it downloads something and then the question mark is displayed. Netflix App Issue iphone 3G

So, I downloaded the new Netflix App, and have been watches movies, shows, etc with it, and it has been fine. However, since yesterday, the app just doesnt seem to work. No matter what movie or show I try to load, it plays for 3-7 seconds, freezes, and returns back to the movie selection screen. It does this, no matter where I am at, no matter if I am on 3G, or ANY WiFi network. Ive done resets on the phone, re-installed the app, backed up the phone, and reinstalled everything, virtually every possible option, and still will not work. Any suggestions? 3G iOS 4

How can I delete music from iphone

I want to delete some music titles or albums from my iphone but it doesn´t work as described in the manual. There I read:Connect your iphone to the pc, click the triangle left of the symbol to show the iphone´s contents. Then choose i.g. music and mark the titles you want to delete. So far so good! Now the manual says press the stepback-key (I am German and the German name is Rückschritttaste)but on my windows PC this doesn´t work. So what can I do? Thanks for your help! PC Windows 7

whats up with mail anyway?if someone mails my me.com account my phone will vibrate, the mail icon is badged indicating i have a new email waiting.inbox is badged with say a 1 for 1 new email !!but when i go to the inbox, the new message doesnt show up. it seems i have to switch in and out of mail, or maybe i have to switch from inbox to different folders for that message to show up in the inboxis this normal? does it normally seem to take 1 to 2 minutes (using wifi) after your mail icon gets badged to indicate you have new email before that email shows up?as far as i can tell it does the refresh on its own and it says last updated (current time and date it just doesnt seem to show up unless i switch from like deleted folder and then inbox a couple times mac mini and powermac g4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

New MacBookPro 13 iphone 3G not showing up in iTunes

iphone 3G no longer recognized by iTunes

I dont know what happened. I havent changed any settings on my pc. I updated my phone software to 4.0.2 last week with no apparent problems. I think Ive charged on my pc since but cant remember for sure. Now when I hook to usb, it goes on and off. Like not the power, but it (the iphone) will connect and show charging and I get the windows message that the apple camera is connected and what do i want to do. then it blinks off, like shows my welcome screen, not charging. then a few seconds later it shows up again and shows to be charging. it goes through this over and over. And iTunes does not recognize the iphone, says an error occurred.Any thoughts or suggestions? Dell XPS 410 Windows XP

Hi All,I recently moved my iTunes library from my PC to Network drive.During the move due to my stupidity I lost my playlists.I have 2 x iphone 3Gs and a 160GB iPod classic.The iPod classic can sync with iTunes no problem.When I try to sync either of my iPhones nothing happens.I am using the same cable as my iPod and it starts charging the phone.My PC recognises the phone as it asks me if I want to few photos.However iTunes does not recognise the phone.I am not sure what to do as nothing has changed with the exception of where the music is located.Does anytone have any suggestions?I have been trying to get this sorted for the last 5 days with no luck. Some of my pictures in my picture roll just show up as black but i can click and they open up as the actual picture but i cant see what the thumbnails are. Help please?

Photo sync issue albums not showing up but photos exist iphone 4

Purchased a 32GB iphone 4 today and am experiencing a weird issue with the Photos app. Even though it says the album from iPhoto is synced (showing 73 photos on my iphone in Settings>General>About) when I launch the Photos app it only shows me my camera roll, not my Photo Library.Now, if I go through Wallpaper, the photos show up via my Photo Library. But this seems like a very clunky way of being able to access photos store on my phone.This isnt my first iphone but something Im not used to having to deal with. iphone wont turn on

I think I am fuked. My iphone was constantly freezing today. I did a reset (holding down home and power button) I did that twice. I wanted to sync my phone into iTunes so that I could have all of my photos on my computer before my phone stopped working. Well no point. Wont sync. I try turning it on and syncing and all it does is show the apple logo then it shuts down. I am about to cry right now because all my photos from my trip and my text messages are gone. I cant even get my phone on to even try and reset it. I dont know what to do. Windows XP

Have to re-install iTunes everytime I sync iphone 4

The most annoying thing ever, for ages I couldnt get my computer to recognise my new iphone, after trying everything I re-installed iTunes and it worked. I then plugged it in the day after and it wouldnt recognise it was plugged in, it didnt come up in finder or in iTunes. So I re-installed iTunes again, and it worked. I synced up my iphone twice more and have just gone to sync a 3rd time and AGAIN it is not recognised, and will not show up anywhere on my mac. Do I seriously have to re-install iTunes everytime I want to update songs or anything on my iphone? I have tried everything that is suggested in forums and on the Apple site, nothing works except un-installing and then re-installing iTunes, but I cant do this everytime! Syncing Bookmarks Creating .dat file iphone 4

Every time that Im syncing my bookmarks some 300 .dat files are created (*.dat.*) as a bookmarks in IE, scattered around my favorites. Horrible iphone 4 genius bar experience

Hello all,I wanted to share a recent experience I had recently with my iphone 4, since I have not been able to find a suitable customer service center to speak to. A letter of the situation will be sent to BBB and also Cupertino.About 2 weeks ago my iphone 4 started malfunctioning, about 2 days after it turned off and never came back on. I went to the local ATT store and they could not help me but I had them forward my calls. They said I had to go the Apple store. The next day I went to the Apple store in Rancho Cucamonga and had a 2 hour wait. Once I finally got to the genius bar there was no attempt to fix the phone, I got the feeling they knew what was wrong and the fix was a new replacement on the spot. I was happy about that, all he did was swap the SIM cards and he said it would activate in a couple of hours.I left on a business trip, and after various calls with Apple and ATT they informed me that at the genius bar they had voided my SIM card instead of activating it. The only way to fix it was to go back to the Apple Store.Yesterday I visited the Apple Store in Brea, California. They informed me that the wait was about 24 hours to which I explained my situation and that all I needed was a new SIM card and re activation (it takes less than 5 Minutes). He said he couldnt help me and I told him that if had to wait that long it would be to return the phone, he said he would get his manager. The Manager turned out to be one of the most insensitive and unprofessional individual I have ever encountered. He did not cared to hear my situation and instructed me to take the next appointment at 6:10 pm the next day, I said I wanted to return the phone immediately. He said that the I would HAVE TO TAKE THE SAME APPOINTMENT TIME TO RETURN THE PHONE! I felt like exploding on him but my 5 year old daughter was next to me and wasnt worth it.I have an appointment tomorrow in Rancho to return the phone. Ive reactivated an old account with a previous carrier and even as I typed this on my Ipad I have such a bad taste for their customer service I feel sick to my stomach. Apple has great products but such arrogance will only make you lose more customers. IPad

Missing Features From 4.0.2 Update on iphone 3G

Hi,I recently updated to 4.0.2 software on my iphone 3G. I understand that not all the new features of the software are going to work on the iphone 3G like the multi-tasking etc.I dont seem to have iBooks which I thought would work on the 3G? Has anyone else found this? Also, I understand photos has been updated to now show the location on the map where the photo was taken. The first time I opened my camera after doing the update, i was asked if I would allow my current location. I said no to it thinking that I would be asked each time but now when I open the camera, it doesnt ask me and doesnt show where the photo was taken etc. Does anyone know why this is? Bad Experience with Apple iphone 4

Hi all,I bought an iphone 4 from three mobile from their online site. Last Thursday I received the iphone, but it is faulty. No sound at all, no dial tone , no ring tone, etc.Then I went to 3 and they told me it is faulty , need 2 weeks to get new one for me, while I still need to pay for the plan even though I cannot make a call. The other solution is go to apple store, so they can give me a new phone faster. So I go to apple store, one of the guy check my phone and say it is faulty but I need to make appointment in order to get new phone. I make sure with him that I can get a new phone on next appointment, he say yes. So appointment on Monday (3 days later). Which I thought not too bad.Some important thing happen on Monday, I cannot go to apple. So I gave them a call to change my appointment. But they told me they cannot change my appointment online, ask me to make new appointment online. And the guy over the phone seem so busy that he does not bother to help me make reservation online while i in front of my computer.So I go to their site, next thing I found out is there are so many appointment type, so not sure which to book. I just book one of them at Wednesday. Then on Wednesday I go to apple again, this time they tell me I make wrong appointment so I cannot meet the person who need to check my phone(only need 5 mins). Ok seem that partly my fault this time, I accept it. So he make another appointment for me on Friday.Friday, go to apple store again. Finally they manage to check the phone and said it is faulty. Can replace new one for me. Guess what happen? No stock. Wow, and tell me I need to wait another week. What is the different with 3? You guys still need 2 weeks and wasting all my precious time for it. So I need to keep paying my bill for 2 weeks while I cannot make a phone call? 3 times went to apple and still cannot get a new phone? Its the end of a wonderful day and I just got off the phone with Apple. Evidently the window closed to get your bumper for the new iPhone4 on 23 August... frustrated to say the least. I wish I had never purchased this phone. So here we are with two $300 cell phones (and a high monthly cell phone bill) that drops calls like a hot potato... Hi Support (and fellow users)I am trying to unlock on iphone 3G which I purchased two years ago on a bill pay account with o2 Ireland. About a year ago I upgraded to an iphone 3GS also purchased on my bill pay account with o2 Ireland - this has been successfully unlocked. Approximately a week ago I ported to Vodafone Ireland and purchased an iphone 4 on bill pay. Just before porting to Vodafone Ireland I reqeusted that o2 Ireland unlock my iphone 3G and received an sms message from o2 Ireland saying o2 have submitted your unlock reqeust for iphone IMEI xxx to Apple. Apple should unlock the devide via iTunes within the next two weeks. o2. My previous unlock expreience on the 3GS took approximately 24 hours so after a few days I plugged in my 3G to see if there was any movement from Apple. However, when I plug it in it just says Awaiting activiation, this may take some time. I have tried it with a Vodafone sim card but it wont work. Facetime on WiFi only iphone 4

Hello, does anyone know if you can use Facetime with only the WiFi enabled on the iphone 4. Lost all purchased items when couldnt change email address and md new acct iphone 4

Just bought the new iPhone4 but now have a huge issue I was not previously aware of. Why is it that even Apple has the notion that no one ever changes their email address? You must enter your email address to be able to log on and find out why the log in is not accepting your password or username. You are then told you will be notified at your registered email address WHICH I NO LONGER HAVE. On screen keyboard iphone 4

I have noticed that with some apps and websites that ask for you to type certain info that the keyboard comes up for you to type but when you have finished there is no done there is no done button to make the keyboard close. I noticed this when trying to use the natwest banking app. It asks to enter your mobile number and passcode but when you do this you cannot continue because when you enter the code the keyboard does not close and you cant continue because the keyboard covers the continue button. Good morning fellow Apple Discussion Users,I would like to know if anyone else has had the same problem with getting help from Apple on the iphone 4 antenna issue, and if so what was it that you were able to do to get the problem fixed.Please read my situation below and let me know if there is anything you think that might help.Thank you.On Friday the 13th of August 2010 I drove an hour to the nearest Apple retail store that had the iphone 4 32 GB in stock and purchased my first iphone. Although it isnt too significant to my experience please keep in mind that in the past four to five years I have been a loyal customer to Apple by purchasing three MacBook Pros, two iPod Touches, one iPod Video, and subscribing to MobileMe.When I arrived at the Apple retail store I spoke with an Apple iphone specialist and asked him if the iphone 4 antenna problem been resolved yet. He replied that it has and that Apple has started a free iphone 4 case program as the solution. I asked him to show me what cases I would have to choose from and he replied saying that they do not carry any cases at all in the store because corporate needed all the case inventory to distribute to those that need it. The iphone specialist then explained to me that I would need to download the free case App. from the App. store and follow the directions.So, after spending thirty dollars more than what I had already projected to purchase the iphone for, I went home and synced my new iphone with my iTunes account and updated my iphone to ISO 4.0.2. I then proceeded to load the free iphone case program. I then chose the case I wanted and completed my order. I then received my order confirmation by email, which said that the case wouldnt be shipped until September 14, 2010. This didnt bother me because the case was free and I had already put screen protectors on my iphone and didnt really see the need for a case right now anyways.However, after using the iphone Saturday and today and experiencing bad reception and dropped calls I became quite irritated, as I never experienced this with my previous wireless carriers that I have used in my same current coverage area. I even checked AT&Ts coverage map and it listed my area of having full support and coverage of both data and voice. It was then made clear to me that the issues I was having was related to Apples iphone 4 antenna problem, so I decided to call them about this and to see what they can do about getting this resolved because there is no way that I should have to wait close to a month for a case to resolve the issue while spending money on my service plan for crappy service due to an Apple defect.I spent over an hour speaking with two different Apple customer service agents and I had three dropped calls during this period. I asked them if there was anyway to just give me a credit of the retail value for the case I picked and then cancel my free case order, so that I may go purchase a case at AT&T now and fix the problem I am having with my iphone. After the second time of having my phone call dropped I had to call them back myself and ended up talking to someone different than before. This gentleman had informed me that they had cancelled my free case order, but can not give me any type of credit or rebate for a case, so that I can go purchase one. He then had his supervisor get on the line with us.As you can imagine, this really ticked me off! So, not only did they cancel my order for the free case without my consent, but now they are telling me that there is nothing they can do to help me except to restart my original order and to wait until it is delivered to me to fix the iphone antenna problem. I explained to them how unprofessional and inappropriate it is to have to make a customer of theirs let a lone a very loyal one have to wait for almost a month for a case in order to fix a defect that is their fault, but yet there are stores that have iphone 4 cases in stock that could fix the problem right away. They of course didnt care and continued to tell me that there isnt anything they can do to help. I then proceeded to ask them if a $25.00 case/credit/rebate is worth losing a loyal customer and $360.00, as I will be returning the iphone 4 if they are unwilling to fix the problem thus making me have to go out and spend my own money to fix the issue myself in order to have a functioning iphone. Their response was more of the same that they offer a free case and that I would just have to wait and what I decide to do is my decision to make.So, it seems to me that Apple really doesnt care if they lose a customer or a loyal one for that matter. I then proceeded to call and speak with an Apple Care agent and of course there wasnt anything that the gentleman I talked to could do, but at least he was understanding of reason and also agreed that the whole iphone case program is flawed and adds to the problem more so than it does to fix it. After speaking with the Apple Care agent we agreed that once Apple realized the solution to the antenna defect that anyone who was to buy an iphone 4 should have been given a bumper or case at the same time as they purchased their iphone. Ok, so you may not have a choice in what model you get or color, but if its free and it fixes the defect immediately then who cares, I know I dont.I would much rather sport a hot pink band of rubber around my iphone if that meant I would not have dropped calls or bad call reception when I am in a fully covered area. Then when I had the ability to do so I would buy a replacement of my choice. Its not like Apple is offering any free cases that I would personally buy for my iphone if I had the choice to do so anyways. Well, I decided it would be in my best interest to first go out and spend my own money for a case to see if that in fact solves the problem before spending the gas and time to drive back to the Apple store to return the iphone, which I would then have to wait for the credit to post on my credit card account. Not to mention cancel my new account with AT&T and be without both a phone and service until I received my credit to buy a new phone.I would like to know what everyone else feels about what I had to say about my experience with Apple today. PCiTunes dont recognize iphone

Up until yesterday I was not having any trouble synching my iphone with my laptop. Today I cant even get the laptop to recognize the iphone.When I plug it in my phone makes the connecting sound, and it also starts charging. But the iphone doesnt show up either in iTunes or in My Computer. I dont know if this had anything to do with it, but I had some trouble with a sync just before this happened and ended up disconnecting the iphone in the middle of the sync.I can connect it to my PC and sync it there, so I know it isnt the cable. Its only my laptop that has issues.Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Ive tried reinstalling iTunes, Ive tried resetting the iphone, Ive tried rebooting ... jerky Folders animation normal iphone 4

Hi guys,I have a 16GB iphone 4 and its now running iOS 4.0.2. I have 58 apps total and about 6.38GB of free space left. On my home screen Ive set up 4 folders with 3, 12, 8, 3 apps in each folder. Every time I tap on a folder to open and close, especially the ones with more apps in them, I get a slightly jerky animation. Like a split second jerk before it opens up totally. Do any of you have this effect on your iphone 4s? My brother has a 16GB 3Gs also running iOS 4.0.2 and his folders open up smooth like butter even with max number of apps in them. Scrolling text, lists and websites and swipes are all fine. Only my folders opening and closing animation isnt as smooth as Id like it to be.I dont know if i should call this a problem since its really no big deal. Just an irritant. New i-phone 4 not showing up when I try to sync to i-tunes iphone 4

I just purchased the new iphone 4 today. When I came home to sync it, it said my desktop was too old of a model and I would need to upgrade. Called the store and they said I had to come back to purchase a Mac Box Set to upgrade. Brought that home and installed successfully. When I plugged my old i-phone in to sync first, it will only come up as a camera. When I open i-tunes, it is not showing up on the left side as a device. Its not recognizing it. They are telling me I have to either call tech support at 8 in the morning, or drag my desktop and phones in to the store at 9. I am going on a trip tomorrow and would love to get this solved tonight!!!! Anyone out there know how to tell me how to get the old phone to show up and sync it? imac 5.1

My friend jailbroke her iphone 4 and tried to delete an app she downloaded and then the phone went crazy. The screen shows the Apple logo, then goes blank and the Apple logo appears again. Sometimes it shows the battery screen with a thin red line but its been plug to the computer all day, it hasnt charge. I tried to restore it but couldnt. It started downloading iOS 4.0.2 but then iTunes didnt do nothing. Now I plug in the iphone to the computer and it doesnt even show up on iTunes. What can I do besides call Apple? Ringtones not syncing with iphone

Hi, I posted this on another thread that might be closed.My ringtones show up in the Itunes computer folder, and they show up under Ringtones in Itunes, and theyre less than 30 seconds long, but when I go to Sounds/Ringtones on the phone they do not show up. In another thread I read about an option for standard or custom, but on my phone just the ringtones show and there are no such options.Any ideas?thanks,Lynn iphone 3gs version 4.0.2

iphone 4 Memory Issues

I have recently been experiencing what I believe to be memory issue with my iphone 4….I am thinking they correlate to my updating to 4.0.2, but I can’ be certain. So here is the problem….I will be functioning within a App and it will “Express Exit”, the App will show on the Multitasking list and when I launch it, it starts where it left off…but immediately closes again. Once it starts happening with one, it happens with all…until I restart the phone. Once I restart the phone, I can operate normally for a little while…but depending my usage it may not last long(usually have to restart between 4 to 6 six times a day). I am very anal about leaving a bunch of stuff running in Multitasking, if I am not going to get right back in the App then I completely close it. I have downloaded the FreeMemory App and checked the amount of available memory when this behavior occurs and it is indeed very low(somewhere in the 40s). Also, as a test I have restarted the phone and immediately launched only the Free Memory app and my available memory constantly trickles down to the 40s and then the Free Memory App closes. Now, I know the Free Memory app is going to take some resources…but I don’t think it would explain that drastic of a drop. Is anyone else having similar issues? Tonight I plan to reset my phone back to factory settings and set everything up again…hoping I just have a glitch. I will post the results. iphone 4 iOS 4

Audiobooks not displaying in iPod App iphone 4

Im having an issue where my iPod app on my iphone 4 is not displaying the audiobooks that are synced to the device. If I search for them using spotlight, they show up and I can play them, so I know that they are on the iphone. If I go to the iPod app and select Audiobooks, however, it says that there are no audiobooks synced to the device.I have gone into iTunes and deselected all the audiobooks in order to delete them from the device, and then resynced them. All of my software is updated appropriately. Ive only had this problem on my iphone 4, and did not have it on my 3G.Any help would be appreciated. Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.6.4) iphone 4, iOS 4.2

Apple mobile device installed successfully on computer but will not show up iphone 3G

I have been working with Apple for a week now and no one can get my iphone to recognize in itunes. I am getting the same message several people are getting that the iphone was not recognized please install the the correct program. to make a long story short, Apple mobile device is the problem. I can see it in the folder of downloads and it downloads successfully but it wont show up anywere on my hardrive. i cant see it when i go to uninstall a program or under device manager and the same errror message comes up wheen i plug my phone in. the lastest apple tech said i am going to have to either restore my compute to factory settings or buy a new computer. I really dont want to do wither of those. Can someone please help????? Dell Windows Vista

iphone 3G Caller ID

Im curious as to how the caller ID works on an iphone. I noticed that before I had caller ID, all numbers would show up as unknown. Now that I have caller ID, if a number is saved, it will show whatever it is saved under, and if its not saved, it will simply display the number. One thing Ive noticed on my friends Blackberry Bold is that regardless if he has a number saved or not, it will always display a name. Im wondering if there is a setting to have this on my iphone. So even if a person calls me from a number I dont have saved, I still would like it to show a name if it isnt a restricted call. 27-inch, 3.06GHz, iMac Mac OS X (10.6)

Brand new iphone 4-not respond

I just received my new iphone 4, but it does not respond when I connect to my computer. The screen stays blank and it does not show up in iTunes. Only when I connect it to the wall charger does it respond, but I have tried leaving it to charge for some time, but it still wont show up in iTunes nor does it respond when connected to my Macbook Pro. iTunes cannot find correct iTunes file to sync iphone

I have the iphone 4 and no problems with the phone or iTunes until now. I opened iTunes and it was blank so I reconnected iTunes to the proper files, however, it doesnt show my apps and it doesnt recognize my iphone. When I try to sync iTunes warns me that the iphone is synced to another iTunes and if I sync it will erase and re-write the data on the phone. Ive only synced to one computer and dont know how to get it to re-recognize the proper iphone files. Any suggestions? iMac Intel Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Texts messages are hidden iphone

Since I upgraded my iphone to os4 it will tell me that I have new text messages on the home screen but when I open messages, I cant see it. I have to use the search option and if I put in the correct contact, it will show up.Once I have read the message, either the blue button indicating an unread message does not disappear or the button disappears but the number of unread messages on the home screen doesnt change.This is leading to me not discovering messages for days or not even realising that I have new messages to read!It is driving me INSANE! iPhone4 sending dozens of text messages without my knowledge

I think the iPhone4 has a virus.Since I got it three days ago, it has sent over 48 text messages to SMS number such as 49988 and 2639. The only reason I know my iPhone4 is sending and receiving them is that Rogers has a service that provides emails copies of all SMS sent or received.I asked the genius at the genius bar about it and he didnt have a clue.I have seen this behaviour on two iPhone4s (incidentally the first iphone4 I had for only 2 days, kept going dead and required a hard start to get going. I now have a refurb from the genius at the Apple store.) Anyway, if anyone can shed some light on these mysterious messages, I would appreciate it. They are burning up my SMS quota. Blank pages show in Safari thumbnail tabs iphone

When on Safari one can hit the little icon in lower right of screen to see the (up to) 8 tabs (rendered as thumbnails) of all web pages recently visited.At times those thumbs are just blank white pages, although the title of the page is visible above the blank page (which allows for at least a navigation of the pages)I thought I detected a pattern to the problem, specifically if I had previous tabs open in Safari (lets say the little number in lower right was 6) and I was now on another app,,, then went to multi-task tray and launched Safari from there (as opposed to going back to the home page to launch) the thumbs came up blank.Seemed to be the pattern but then it happened even when going to Safari from the home page (not the multi-task tray)Never saw that before update to iOS4.0.1Saw it on my 3GS after the software update and now happening on my iP4.Mentioned this on a previous post and someone thought the blank tabs/thumbs represented pages that had not loaded fully? Not sure that is the answer because they showed when loaded then went blank later.
