#I just received my BRAND NEW, SEALED, iPhone4 32 GB FACTORY UNLOCKED which I bought from Ebay. After unboxing, I switched on the phone to find that it was already activated, and did NOT show the "Connect to iTunes" screen, which gave me doubts whether this phone is actually brand new, the phone does have that protective film on the front and back which normally comes with brand new iPhones, anyhow I went online and did some intense research and found interesting facts about the serial number, and from my understanding the phones with serial numbers starting with 5K could be a refurbished phone, and indeed my supposedly BRAND NEW iPhone which came in a sealed retail box with all accessories does have a 5K serial number, so I did some more googling and came across a web site which gives details about an iPhone with its serial number and it shows this phone is a refurbished one. I checked on Apple website for warranty and it says "We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contactus." #Now all you good knowledgeable people out there, please please shed some light on this matter. Is this really a genuine brand new phone? When I contacted the seller regarding the phone being already activated, he said it is normal with phones which are factory unlocked. But I believe it is actually supposed to show - “Connect to iTunes” screen. That was how it was with my iPhone 3G. At least right out of a brand new box. Am I correct? How can a refurbished iPhone come in a sealed retail box? Even if that was the case, would it cost the same as a normal brand new FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhone because I paid US $ 904.00 for this. Does Apple sell refurbished iPhones as new? What confuse me is that the box have all the labels intact as it was a sealed box, and the serial number and IMEI number match with the actual phone. Should I consider this a genuine product that Apple meant to sell as it is or better I go for a claim and either get a refund or replacement from the seller on Ebay?. Thank you very much in advance for all your kind help and insights. Attached are few images of the phone.
I bought an iphone 5 and i drpo damaged it.I bought the iphone in india and can i get and out of warranty replacement for $269 in the US as my mother is flying to the US next week.and will apple give me a replacement iphone free of cost.I HAVE THE APPLE ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY.
I purchased my Iphone 4 while living in Hong Kong. I am now back in the UK and the phone has deveoped a problem where the mic cuts out during calls and the person I'm on the phone to can't hear me. I took the phone to the apple shop here and the girl told me that she would have given me a replacement but she can't because the phone is slightly different than the UK (european) model of the Iphone 4. She then told me to call apple care and explain to them over the phone. I called apple care and an american woman said she can't give me support unless I pay £25 but will email me instructions on reseting the phone, I told her reseting won't make a difference as the mic problem is a common one with Iphone 4's and I've read it's a hardware problem. So anyways I reset my phone and nothing changed. I'm stuck in limbo right now and dunno what to do, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I'll get a galaxy when my contract is up this year.
I too have had the "flickering/flashing" screen problem...I received my first iPhone 4 on release day (6/24); had no display issues until 3 days later, on 6/27. First occurred while on call in car; phone continued to work but display was black; had to do the two-button "hard restart" method to reboot phone. I was away on vacation for a week (not near an Apple Store), and phone continued to have this issue at least once/day. It could be on any screen or app...had it occur on calendar, a game, the home screen, etc. It would begin flashing ~8 times, then go to a "lit up black" (not off but slightly and evenly lit up black). Sometimes it would be 75% black, w/ a whiter "band" across the top 25% of the display.I discovered that sometimes if I quickly hit the button on top while it was still flashing, I could "save it."I have videoed this (using my 3GS phone...now my wife's) a few times, and it also did it at the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store last Friday (7/9) when I returned it. They saw it in-person, and watched one of my videos, and promptly gave me a replacement phone. However, the NEXT day, 7/10, my replacement iPhone 4 has started to do a similar thing...no "flashing/flickering", just goes to the "lighter black" screen. First occurred when trying to open the calendar. I contacted Tech support and spoke to someone at Apple for ~1 hour, who said there have been NO reported display issues from others, and thought it perhaps was due to a corrupt "Restore from backup" file. She suggested that I do a regular restore (not from backup), but I have hesitated to do so yet, instead looking/waiting to see if others have had this issue, as I don't want to lose contact, texting & calendar info. She also said it was not good to perform the "hard restart" (two button) function very much... I eventually have tried the "slide to power off" across the top of the black screen, and phone turned off and could restart with just the single (upper) button. So the phone is ON...just display isn't...I am an AVID iPhone user (have had the 2G, 3GS and now 4 model) for 2 1/2 years, and this won't make me "switch"...I just want it FIXED..!
I have an iPhone 5 still within the 1 year warranty. It has a small crack on the top right of the phone, which doesn't have any effect on the screen or touch capabilities. However, the phone also has a faulty camera and lock button. What I am wondering is, does the fact that the screen is cracked affect the ability to get a warranty replacement for the other two problems? Thanks!
Hi, I bought factory unlocked Iphone 5 from US in Dec 2012. I came back to India few days ago and accidently iphone's screen got damaged. The phone is under limited hardware warranty with no extra apple care plan. I talked to Apple care in India and they say they cannot replace my damaged phone even if I pay to them Can you please let me know the procedure as on how shall i get my damaged Iphone5 replaced , can i ship it to directly to Apple or do I need to ship it to some of my friend in US or do I have to follow some other procedure? Please suggest. Thanks,Rahul
I bought an iPhone 5 last month, for starters, i didn't notice that the Power Button was compressed as in its still working but just, it doesn't have the 'button click' feel like a normal iPhone. Recently my friend bought an iPhone too, when i compared our iPhones, i found out that his iPhone's Power Button has a 'pop up' feel where mine is compressed. I'm from Kuala Lumpur and the place i bought it in Johor. Can i know whether can i get a repair or replacement for it? Who should i contact to do so? Note: i bought it in a small DIGI shop in Johor. And, i heard that iPhones bought in small retail shops cannot be replaced/repair/etc.
I got Iphone5 to give gift to my mom on motherday i bought it from online i have also proof of purchase i go to apple store to book an oppoitment in regent street but i find the guy who treat me very badly first he too my phone go inside the lab after 20 minutes he com back and ask me proof of purchase i showed him after he told me can you come tomrrow we will fix it it will take time i said to him keep my phone for fixation and give me one paper as a receipt after he replied me we will fix it now please wait for 20minutes i said ok after 20 minutes he came back and said we can not fix this because you dont have proof of purchase i said i show you early but he said we dont accept that we cant deal with you.It seems may i criminal the way he treat me or something else i am shocked because next to me there is a lady and she is attractive as well one of apple employe treat such a nice way i feel happy the way he treats him she brings her sister phone the Apple employe change her phone straight way but in my case they ignore me.I dont know what is wrong with me because the way he treats me just ignoring me...i book oppoitment as name of(sazzad ahmed) at regent street time was 8.50 i cant remember the name of your employe because i was shocked the way of him to treat me such a worse thing for me in my life.Every time we preffer apple product because of his warranty services.please do something for me i am lso feeling ashamed this phone was a gift .
I contacted Orange UK and they said that this iPhone4 is ready to be unlocked, but they can't unlock the phone because I am not the original contract owner. Why can't Apple unlock this phone, because the original owner doesn't care and has sold it? As far as I understand, I am one of at least 3 owners for this phone. I guess there could be more. I just wanted to have a normal iPhone, why can't Apple help on this issue? I have previously had many apple products, this is the first one I bought used adn just wanted to restore it to normal. Another thing is that 3rd party services can unlock it for 200$. What is that they do to unlock it? Why can't apple make a small comission for unlcoking iPhones instead. People find ways to cheat and ripoff people who doesn't deserve to pay extra for the phone they bought. Bought an IPhone 5 & after 13days the home button stopped responding. Got a replacement (probably a refurbished one) from Apple Store. Now exactly 13days later the home button has started playing up again.
I bought the iPhone 5 from Star One Mobile in Sim Lim Square Singpore recently. After reaching my place , just found that the serial number and IMEI number in my iPhone 5 product and the packaging box are different. When I check on the website the packaging number shows the product is replaced but the number in product shows valid. Can some one explain the difference?I did not anticipate an Apple product having a difference in serial and IMEI number from the packaging --- probable that the Star one mobile could have changed the package?
I bought my iphone 5 from dubai. Now i am in India , and suddenly since yesterday the lock button of my phone is not working. I went to an apple authorized store and was told i can claim replacement only from the country i bought my phone from ! now what do i do ? i can't go back to dubai. Is there any other way i can replacement or fix this issue ?
I have tried different charger cords and they both don't work, if i wiggle it it will charge but if I move it a little it will not charge. Is there anything I can do or do I have to get a replacement?

hi guys. i can see this is a common issue. i have heard a few different reasons about why this is happening. either it's the autofocus mechanism or the vibrate motor.whatever the reason, this should not be happening on a £600 piece of hardware. the quality control at apple is not what it used to be and when they are rushing to manufacture millions of devices to tight deadlines in china then this is a problem that was going to happen sooner or later.i am of the opinion that this is a fault with possibly more than 50% of all iphones manufactured to date and apple needs to do a product recall. it seems that they have told staff to not admit this as a fault to try and avoid just that.i got a replacement and it arrived, the rattle was slightly less noticable but definitely still there. i just ordered another replacement and will continue to keep doing so until i get a device that doesn't rattle.before anyone says that this is normal and it is SUPPOSED to rattle, that is BS. i have been to the apple store in brighton and tried the display models and even tried a few they had in the back after speaking with a staff member. out of the 12 phones i went through, 2 didnt rattle AT ALL. Now you tell me if that is normal and people should just put up with the substandard product that apple has churned out this time. I say NO, and the more people that actually make a stand, the quicker apple will be forced to spend some of their $600B on fixing this issue.
So a nasty smash destroyed both Front & Back of my iPhone 4, and since having them replaced the Wifi signal has been really weak. I have seen other posts about screen replacement having to be done by going through the antenna, so something could be missing, or done incorrectly during the screen repair. Will definately be taking it back to the shop and finding out if It was put back together properly. In the meantime I was wondering if it is possible to share my Macbook Pro's Wifi (always full signal in my house) directly to my iPhone either using USB cable or through bluetooth. It's not been too much of a problem but it would be nice to use my iPhone in bedroom using the Macbooks good signal. Note: The replacement front screen on iPhone has a small gap >1mm between the screen and centre metal casing on the left side just above the Silent/Loud Switch, which can be noticed by light leaking through the gap. The metal casing also still has a small dent between the volume down buttons and silent/loud switch, again nothing drastic 1mm maximum
How much I an iPhone 4S to be replaced
Hi, how much does it cost to replace the screen and dented frame on an iPhone 5 in the uk? Cheers
I have been trying to update my iPhone's software for the past few weeks due to my current provider not being found. (A bar that says "Searching" is always at the top where my 3G should be.) Yet whenever I try directly from my iPhone, it always end with an error message. So, yesterday I tried updating directly from itunes and I let it download the new update and all that. However, after it finished trying to update my iPhone, it put my iPhone in a recovery mode and I've been trying to fix it eversince. I can not access my iPhone, all it has is an icon saying to connect to itunes. I've tried troubleshooting, checking my software, updating my computer etc. yet it still leaves me with this message: "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (-1)." I've looked on the apple site and I've made sure my security is up to date, my computer is up to date, my itunes is up to date and that I have restarted my computer. I am very irritated and I don't know what to do. I don't know what to do because my warranty is over with apple and I still have a few years on my contract. This problem has become relatively frequent with the replacement I've received from apple. Please post all suggestions or ideas to help with my problem, Thank you for your time. -Applefanatic23
Hi, I purchased an iPhone 5 back in February from an Apple store. Worked absolutely fine until now, where some software issue are appearing; The battery drains ridiculously fast even when features are disabled (i.e. location services, 3G when not needed), and also the home button some time has a lag when exiting apps. This has been bothering me now, but there is a slight blemish on the phone near the earphone jack... would Apple dismiss a replacement and ask for a charge, even though it's 3 months old?
My iPhone 4 allways gives the same error while connecting to the universal dock or the AV-cable (composite video):"iOS device does not work with or does not support this product"Though both being original apple products, there seems to be no way to connect the iPhone to a music set or TV...iOS is latest version.Anybody having a good idea??? THANKS...

Do not buy Apple product in Belgium, there is no support!!! So, here it goes: Three day ago I bought an iPhone 5, at a Mobistar shop in Belgium. 700 euros. Unfortunaly, it has a defective screen, light bleeding at the top of the screen. So I went back to the shop, to get an exchange. But no, they refused. They have to send it back to Apple for repair. It will take three weeks. But I can't stay 3 weeks without a phone. And I can't just pop the sim card into an old phone, either: it's a micro-sim, and the iPhone is the only one who uses that... Except maybe if I buy another new, top of the line phone... And I don't have the money to do that... So I call Apple, directly: "Did you buy it on our website? Sorry, nothing we can do. You have to go through the operator." So basically, I am screwed. I have to keep the defective iPhone. Thank you Apple Belgium! Thank you Mobistar!
"My iPhone has a battery problem. If a go to apple and they give me a replacement and it still has battery issues, is it possible to get a refund?
My iPhone 5 has a badly cracked display. As I'm out of the UK at the moment, I took it for a Genius Bar appointment in the USA. They told me it wasn't possible to get a replacement from them, and I would need to contact Apple in the UK to find out if I could get a replacement shipped to me. Before I spend money on expensive international phone calls, does anyone know if it's possible to do this? Are there any other ways I can get my screen fixed or phone replaced while I'm out of the UK?
Few months and my iPhone 5 lock key does not respond. My friends told me that apple ships damaged products to India, is that true? Also, would I get replacement? If yes, would it take weeks or months to get it due to stock issues?I am very much disappointed as of now with apple.Wrong decision it seems to buy an iPhone :(
I am not the most technically inclined, so please bear with me. About two months ago, lines began showing up in Safari every now and again. They would go away, so I didn't think too much of it. Then one night, while in a game app, the screen began "flashing" like a strobelight. It couldn't exit the app fully, was blinking half the screen in the app, part of the home screen, etc. You cannot see throught the commotion to use the phone, if the programs can even open. This happened all evening, through the night, and the entire following day. Then it stopped. It was fine when I took it to the AT&T store (the closest Apple store is 45 minutes away, so I wanted to be sure AT&T couldn't do anything for me) but by opening and closing programs and apps, I was able to force it to act up. Of course when I left the store, it worked fine again. It was fine for a few days, acting up only a time or two, but I drove 45 minutes to the Apple store. My Genius Bar member told me it was software based and that I should restore the phone, download the software again, and manually add my media back on. After the four+ hours of downloading and 2+ hours of adding media, it was fine again. That was about two weeks ago. Now it's back. I looked into the diagnostics (what I can see through the noise on the screen) and I have many different errors going on. Googling these errors codes is not providing much information, and again, I am not the best with this stuff. SO:-Is a latestcrash.plist or mediaserverd.plist the same as a panic.plist code? In turn, if they are, will Apple replace the phone as they supposedly do in the case of panic.plist crashes? -I've noticed a bunch of the issues seem related to audio and video functions on the phone. I have AudioToolbox, CoreFoundation, and CoreQuartz codes, for example. Are these things that would justify a replacement? I am sitting through another 4 hour software download right now in order to restore the phone again, but am afraid to lose that diagnostics info, but also cannot see the screen to send any diagnostics info to Apple. Is this something that is software based? Does that mean I am going to be doing this every few weeks? The phone is only 6 months old, but I don't want to let it go and loet the one year manufacturer's warranty. I apologize for being so verbose but I really cannot find anything online that sounds similar to what my phone is doing. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Hey. My iPhone 5 is currently on firmware 6.0.2 and there is an apparent green glow in the lower parts of the lockscreen when I unlock the phone and it gets more prominent if the phone has been unlocked after a longer time. The glow is a lot like the screenshot of other users facing the same problem. Now, I saw that everyone was getting it fixed by asking for a replacement. My problem is, the phone was bought in the UK and I am currently in Bangladesh where there are no official Apple stores. How should I ask for a replacement and what should be the procedure for it? Really would appreciate some help in this matter
Hello everyone! I've got a problem with my iPhone 4S and I hope someone here can give me a hint on how to fix this... Last year in March I was on vacation in Las Vegas (I live in Austria/Europe) and bought a new unlocked iPhone 4S GSM in the Apple Store in the Forum Shops in Las Vegas including applecare+ (I just learned that iPhones can only be serviced in the Country where they are bought - my bad). Lately I was browsing through my Apple support profile and noticed that my iPhone was not registered there. So I tried to enter the serial number of the device and got this message:We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contact us. I knew this could not be true so I called Apple Care here in Austria and first I was told that - according to its serial number - my iPhone has been replaced, and that it never should have been sold. I also was told that I have no chance of getting any service for this device despite the Care Protection Plan because the device is invalid due to its status as "replaced". And last but not least I was told that I could never receive any service for this device because American devices cannot be repaired in Europe (I was not aware of this fact and would have expected the salesperson in the Apple Store to tell me because I definitely told him that I am from Austria). Meanwhile I wrote an email to the store where I bought the iPhone from but it's two days now and I have not received an answer (or any indication that my email was received) yet. Is there anything I can do? Yours,Michael
My iPhone, purchased in Hong Kong, suffered water damage in Canada and the personnel at the Apple store was unable to provide me with a replacement phone. Their reason is that HK model is different from the North American versions that they carry, hence replacement would need to take place in Hong Kong Apple stores. I am wondering if it came across anyone's situation where they were able to get a replacement iPhone 5 in Canada, even though it is not the North American version. Alternative solutions are also welcomed. Thanks!
its a replacement new phone (so brand new and it won't connect to any wfi at all what do I do? tried turning it off and that hasn't worked, it just keeps coming up 'unable to connect to 'whatever the network is'
As mentioned in Apple US website regarding Hardware Coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage from handling, each subject to a $49 service fee.http://store.apple.com/us/buy/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone5?cppart=UNLOCKED/US &product=MD293LL/A&step=accessoriesIs it applicable in India also??? Plz help...
Hello, I'm an "old" user of Iphone ... 3S, 4, 5 .... on this last one for two times I've broken the frontal glass... never happened with older models Honestly in the first time I have nothing to say because unfortunately my phone fell down bumping the frontal glass on a small stone (from an height of about 1 meter from my pants pocket) and the glass has broken .... but in the second case it fallen down on the back face on a plate surface always from an height of 1 meter and in this second situation my phone was also protected a little bit in a gum cover I choose again APPLE product and especially this model without considering equivalent models of other competitors also for roughness (saw a lot of demo video on the web) but I'm very disappointed from the reality .... I payed twice (220 Euro each time) the replacement with 2 new phone becuse glass broken ae not under guarantee but for this second situation I don't agree with the policy of APPLE and I espect from them at least a commercial action to me because this second payed replacement is absolutely unaccetable .... Roberto (Italy)
You can not ship it to Apple in Australia from outside of the country. They will not accept the shipment, nor will they ship a replacement outside of the country. You will either have to take it back there yourself or send it to someone you know there to take it in for service.
My family and I recently moved to Shanghai for my dad's job. We bought an unlocked iPhone 4s w/applecare in the U.S. and got a Chinese SIM card in China. I was riding my bike on the street and my phone fell out of my pocket and onto the road. The screen is completely cracked and the power on/off button is stuck. We're going back home for a couple months in the summer. Honestly, I don't want to have to deal with my cracked screen for another month. I'm wondering what my options are for this. Phone repalacement or phone repair? Do I have to wait to go back to the U.S. or can I go to an Apple store here and resolve it.
I have an iPhone 4. I've been having many isssues with it, since the 6.1.2 software update. My iTunes album artworks were all messed up.My phone wouldn't apply any changes made, only the application changes would update.I have been struggling with signal since the update. It reached the point where I opted to erase all content & start from scratch. I know this can take a few hours to do, but my phone has been in the "pending" state (erasing state) for almost 24 hrs now.Is this normal? If not, what can I do to get it to work?My sleep/wake button no longer works either.
You are not addressing Apple here, we are users just like you. Also, not a good idea to put your personal number on the world wide forum here for anyone to get. The iPhone has never supported bluetooth file transfer. This is a known fact. Check this support document for information on what bluetooth profiles the iPhone does support. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3647
how to visit a supported carrier's store to receive a replacement sim card
Basically my iPhone 5 power button has a rattling noise which is annoying cause you could hear a tick when it vibrates. Also the phone sometimes blacks out and doesn't come back on. I didn't expect these issues after paying £430 for a brand new device. Will I get a replacement.
Well I tried turning off the Bluetooth, turning off WIFI, turning off location services, and all Push activity. After all of this my battery lasts about 8 hours. I guess I could keep the phone powered off but I think that kind of defeats the purpose of owning the phone. Any studies on the lifespan of an iPhone 4 battery? My applecare warranty runs out in a few months.
Its very sory to tell you that my i5 has fallen from my pocket very unfortunately.I do have warranty period of 1 year.Letme know ,is it possible with a new screen replacement or i will be charged . please let me know how it works if warranty still lives .
Yesterday I just got an iPhone 5 at my mobile carrier but they did not offer applecare and told me I could go online and purchase it, but I don't see the option to. Please help!
My third attempt to fix my iPhone 4s. I've gone through two phones calls, three associates, and one Tech. support supervisor. The only thing said to me was "I cant do anything". I've explained my problem, as thorough as possible but the only option was to purchase a replacment for $200. I've restored my phone multiple times with zero effect, each with a clean restoration of iOS 6.1.3. If there is a solution to this problem I will greatly appreciate it. Hi, the lock button on my iPhone 5, that I recently got a couple of months ago, won't work anymore unless I lean on it against something. Since it is not 1 year old yet can I send it in to get it either fixed or replaced?
Just racked my screen. I didn't purchase Apple Care. I do have the insurance through AT&T. replacement iPhone is $199 via AT&T insurance. How much does Apple charge to repair cracked screens?
I have an iPhone 4S with the applecare+ plan. i bought the phone from boston, can i get it repaired in new york or maryland? Will the waranty work in any place in the country?
Purchased my 4S form from Dubai while on holidays and regretting it, as Facetime was disbaled in it. Was not aware of this until i reached UK and tried using it.Last week took it to Apple store as the speakers started playing up. As it was within warranty period they replaced it with another 4S, said the speaker madule was fauly. Was over the moon as i thought the replacement phone would have Facetime as i am in the UK, lone behold all my hopes were shattered when i switched it on! Facetime is disbaled in it too. ***! Called up customer service and complained, their reply LIKE WILL BE REPLACED WITH LIKE Is it fair, please i need your opinion
