my iPhone 4 Genuinely NEW or Refurbished Please HELP

#I just received my BRAND NEW, SEALED, iPhone4 32 GB FACTORY UNLOCKED which I bought from Ebay. After unboxing, I switched on the phone to find that it was already activated, and did NOT show the "Connect to iTunes" screen, which gave me doubts whether this phone is actually brand new, the phone does have that protective film on the front and back which normally comes with brand new iPhones, anyhow I went online and did some intense research and found interesting facts about the serial number, and from my understanding the phones with serial numbers starting with 5K could be a refurbished phone, and indeed my supposedly BRAND NEW iPhone which came in a sealed retail box with all accessories does have a 5K serial number, so I did some more googling and came across a web site which gives details about an iPhone with its serial number and it shows this phone is a refurbished one. I checked on apple website for warranty and it says "We're sorry, but this is a serial number for a product that has been replaced. Please check your information and re-enter your serial number. If your information is correct, you may need to contactus."  #Now all you good knowledgeable people out there, please please shed some light on this matter.Is this really a genuine brand new phone? When I contacted the seller regarding     the phone being already activated, he said it is normal with phones     which are factory unlocked. But I believe it is actually supposed to     show  - “Connect to iTunes” screen. That was how it was with my     iPhone 3G. At least right out of a brand new box. Am I correct? How can a refurbished iPhone come in a     sealed retail box? Even if that was the case, would it cost the same     as a normal brand new FACTORY UNLOCKED iPhone because I paid US $     904.00 for this. Does apple sell refurbished iPhones as     new? What confuse me is that the box have all the labels intact as     it was a sealed box, and the serial number and IMEI number match     with the actual phone. Should I consider this a genuine     product that apple meant to sell as it is or better I go for a claim     and either get a refund or replacement from the seller on Ebay?.   Thank you very much in advance for all your kind help and insights. Iphone 5 won't record sound during video capture

Hi there. My iPhone 5 has been working perfectly for about 5 months then about a month ago I noticed that my camera was just recording a hissing sound (nothing else) during video capture. Voice memos record and play perfectly and everything else works as it should The strange thing is that if I insert my earphones then the camera will record sound even from far away but when I take them out again it just records a hissing sound. I've tried plugging the earphones in and out, hard reset, and restoring but I still have the same issue.surely the voice memo and camera use the same microphone? The only thing that seems to be wrong is that the phone camera records no sound without earphones plugged in Please somebody tell me there's an easy fix as we have no apple stores here so I would need to ship it off to be repaired if the need be.

iPhone 5 won't wake up from sleepstandby

Hello, I am having a really strange problem with my iphone 5 for last 3-4 months. Sometime when i want to use my iphone from standby/sleep mode it dosent do anything! sleep/wake button, home button even silent/sound button dosent work. I know the silent/sound button dosen't work cause normally it vibrate when I turn it on. So the problem is my phone wont wake up from sleep/standby mode. The screen stays black and nothing works. If i press the home button and power button for 10-15 time very quickly, then it takes a screen shot and wakes up!! Sometime it stays in this stage for 5-10min. So here is what i did to solve the problem.1. I restore the phone from phone and ituens.2. I delete all icloud backup and started as a new phone3. I went to apple store and replace the phone with a new one!!4. I jailbreak it at last to see if it solve the problem!5. turn off the icloud to see if it works And sadly nothing of all this solved my problem! Now im not sure any specific app causing the problem but it almost impossible to find it out. So if anyone have any similar problem or any suggestion to solve it, then it will be really helpful.

My iPhone 5 is less than three months old and is suffering from a home button that clicks very loudly and sometimes stops working intermittently. This is obviously something that I can't reproduce on command. Is there any way that apple will replace the home button or the iPhone for me if I explain the scenario?

Having Paid about £20 for an official unlocking, I am being told to insert a Non-Orange 3G Sim card into the phone that is to be unlocked (Orange is the network the iPhone iscurrently locked to).  Well I don't have a Non-Orange 3G Sim Card do I !! I close all the apps in the multitasking bar, turn the brightness down to 50%, turn the weather and stocks widget off, set the nonifications I want to reminde me, and I also, turn off WiFi and 3G when not using it but my BATTERY STILL GOES TO QUICKLY! iphone 4s battery problem

After ios 6.1.3 my battery is getting worse!Yesterday I switched off my phone with 30-32% of battery, this mornig I switched on and the battery was 20%: during the night it lost about 10% of charge without using it!And another problem is the recharge of battery: now the battery recharge in about an hour from 5% to 100%, before the update was about 2,5-3 hours.What can I do?When will apple solve this problem with a new upgrade??

My iPhone 5 freezes EVERY time I try to open contact or addedit contact and freezes up pretty much on everything I .

My iPhone 5 operates at about the speed of dial-up internet.  Every time I try to do something I have to wait. My harddrive is not even close to being full and I always close out of my programs so I am confused.  It is mainly a problem with contacts (adding, editing, viewing, anything). I also occasionally hardware reset (power and home button same time) to try and help but to no avail. Is this an apple issue that a trip to the apple Store will take care of?  I am just sick and tired of having upgraded to an iphone 5 only to step backwards in speed and performance, plus switching over deleted over half of my contacts even though I had icloud set up on my 4 and also on my 5 so it should have been seamless.  Is my phone a lemon?

iphone 4s slider mechanism

i have an iphone 4s , of course the warranty expired a little over a month ago. The slider mechanism does not work. I've tried turning the phone on and off, restored to factory settings. nothing seems to work. I've never dropped the phone or had any kind of water damage. I've  taken the phone to the apple store. They have opened it , No damage has been done to it whatsoever but they won't replace it unless I pay $200.00 , which I can't afford right now. very frustrated. Any other suggestions?

 Hello! I live in Russia and love apple very much, have many different products and never had any problems with them. And now I decided to buy a new Iphone 5 and wasn't lucky. I bought it on 3.05.2013 in normal shop, then turned out that wi-fi and bluetooth are not working and the phone eats battery very fast. Shop doesn't want take it back, official services don't want to repair it for free, because it was made for USA. I really don't know what to do:( To buy android? My iphone was completely submerged in water last night. I put it in rice. Everything seems to work properly. But there is what appears to be water under the iphone screen. In the very middle of the water, it is blue. What does thar mean? Will it go away? Can I help make it go away? Will my apple insurance plan cover this? Please help!!

My IPhone shut off and will not turn back on

SO here's what happened,  I was texting a friend and listening to music on my iphone... Then all of a sudden I get this pop up notification that says "This adaptor is not supported" I didnt have my phone plugged in and then all of a sudden it turned off and will not start back up. I tried the following:Charge my phone for an hourPressed the sleep/power+home button for 20 secondsPressed the home button and plugged it in my computer while doing so Now with that said, I need to know the following:Is there hope for my Phone?And if I have to replace it, can I go to my cell phone provider-ATT and have them replace it ( I have insurance on it) because the closest apple store to me is 3 hours away.  All the advice the better!

Unlock and imei issues iPhone 4

My iphone 4 has just completed my two year contract with vodafone. However in this time my phone broke and I used apple to repair it. Which in fact is actually a switch service. So now I have a different imei number than what I started with. I rang vodafone to unlock my phone, but they say they can't and there is nothing they can do as the phone was not issued by them. I also can't seem to find a way to unlock my phone via apple. So what can I do??Any help would be awesome!

Iphone 4 on t-mobile full signal but wont makereceive calls

Please help - My iphone 4 intermittently stops making and receiving calls/texts without warning, the phone will have a full signal and could be anywhere in the country but when you try to make a call it won't do it. If you then ring the phone it is as if it is turned off, if you then turn the phone off then on again it works perfectly well until the next time which might be in days or hours. T -Mobile talked me through a reset but this has not worked and apple want a fee to help further as the phone is 22 months old, it is however little used and still looks new. Any help appreciated

Dropped iPhone 4 in to toilet but hear me out

I dropped my phone into the toilet. I got it out as quickly as possible, but it did get submerged. When I got it out, the screen turned on by itself, but I didn't think much of it, and I stuck it in rice for a few hours. When I went to check on it, it seemed fine, as the screen turned on and all the buttons seemed to be working, other than being slightly laggy. The volume buttons worked, but the didn't seem to do anything to the volume. The speakers worked as well, and even the vibrating part did. the lagging didn't get any better though, so I decided to see if reseting it would work. It turned off fine, and the apple symbol came up, but that was where it stopped, and it now will not turn on. I checked the LCI in the headphone jack and the charging slot, and the one in the headphone jack has a tiny pinkish-red dot, and the one in the charging slot doesn't look red at all. I stuck it back into the rice just in case. Can anybody help with my situation?Just some info, up until I put my phone into the rice the first time, I was mostly in full panic mode, and even after I put it in the rice, I kept checking to see if it worked by pressing the sleep button. I'm pretty sure I did everything I'm not supposed to do, but what can I say?

I purchased my Iphone 4 while living in Hong Kong. I am now back in the UK and the phone has deveoped a problem where the mic cuts out during calls and the person I'm on the phone to can't hear me. I took the phone to the apple shop here and the girl told me that she would have given me a replacement but she can't because the phone is slightly different than the UK (european) model of the Iphone 4. She then told me to call apple care and explain to them over the phone.  I called apple care and an american woman said she can't give me support unless I pay £25 but will email me instructions on reseting the phone, I told her reseting won't make a difference as the mic problem is a common one with Iphone 4's and I've read it's a hardware problem. So anyways I reset my phone and nothing changed. I'm stuck in limbo right now and dunno what to do, does anyone have any suggestions? I think I'll get a galaxy when my contract is up this year.

Water Damage iPhone 4S

On May 18, 2013: Yesterday my cousin and I tipped our canoe while on a river. We had our electronics in a ziploc bag which included my iPhone 4S. We managed to save almost everything including the ziploc bag. We were stuck floating down the fast moving rapids for atleast 30 minutes keeping firm grip on everything. Once our fellow canoe group caught up with us we put everything in their canoe and made a pit stop. There we put the electronics out to dry (only a little bit of water got it). I managed to send one quick text out and tried hard to shut off the phone but it kept rebooting. When we got back to my grandma's house I investigated the iPhone. It was on and working BUT the flash was stuck on and the power button didn't always work, water behind the lower part of the screen  I tried hard to turn it off but it just kept rebooting. With no rice I just layed it out in the sun for an hour.  About 2 hours later we rushed to the mall and went to the apple Store. They checked the status of the warranty and it just expired 5 days ago. Ugh.. So they just told us there was little they can do and they will replace it for $200.00. At this point I didn't want to give up. At the apple Store the iPhone was having such a melt down. The apple employee struggled to keep it on as it kept turning itself off (power button issue). Everything else was functional besides the back camera full of water vapour and LED light. About 3 hours after that I got home I put the phone in rice. I noticed the phone some how got into recovery mode.  Over night and about 24 hours later I took the phone out of the rice plugged into iTunes on my iMac. It was just on recovery mode asking me to recover it on iTunes. It wouldn't work because it kept going into UNKNOWN ERROR 2001 and UNKNOWN ERROR 2006. I read somewhere a fix can be putting it from recovery mode into DFU mode. But remember the power button isn't still working so it is impossible to go into that mode. I think I got it once but still had the same errors. I am not ready to give up. I know there is no such thing as minor water damage but it really does seem minor because everything was functional just the phone put itself into recovery mode with a messed up power button.  I'm asking what I should do now. I really don't want to spend $200 for another iPhone 4S when the next generation iPhone will come at what ever time. It seems pointless getting an old phone than a new one. I just want to be able to use this one until then. Thanks for reading my rants. Brady

I got a small amount of water in my iphone, at first i thought it was ok but after about half hour the water had spread through my screen, and it started going blotchy and cloudy. The touch screen still works, speakers, charger, camera etc. Only thing is phone wont turn off? I tried the rice for a few hours but didnt do much. Does the apple warrenty cover water damage if not how do i get this repaired?

I too have had the "flickering/flashing" screen problem...I received my first iPhone 4 on release day (6/24); had no display issues until 3 days later, on 6/27. First occurred while on call in car; phone continued to work but display was black; had to do the two-button "hard restart" method to reboot phone. I was away on vacation for a week (not near an apple Store), and phone continued to have this issue at least once/day. It could be on any screen or app...had it occur on calendar, a game, the home screen, etc. It would begin flashing ~8 times, then go to a "lit up black" (not off but slightly and evenly lit up black). Sometimes it would be 75% black, w/ a whiter "band" across the top 25% of the display.I discovered that sometimes if I quickly hit the button on top while it was still flashing, I could "save it."I have videoed this (using my 3GS phone...now my wife's) a few times, and it also did it at the Genius Bar at my local apple Store last Friday (7/9) when I returned it. They saw it in-person, and watched one of my videos, and promptly gave me a replacement phone.However, the NEXT day, 7/10, my replacement iPhone 4 has started to do a similar thing...no "flashing/flickering", just goes to the "lighter black" screen. First occurred when trying to open the calendar. I contacted Tech support and spoke to someone at apple for ~1 hour, who said there have been NO reported display issues from others, and thought it perhaps was due to a corrupt "Restore from backup" file. She suggested that I do a regular restore (not from backup), but I have hesitated to do so yet, instead looking/waiting to see if others have had this issue, as I don't want to lose contact, texting & calendar info.She also said it was not good to perform the "hard restart" (two button) function very much... I eventually have tried the "slide to power off" across the top of the black screen, and phone turned off and could restart with just the single (upper) button. So the phone is ON...just display isn't...I am an AVID iPhone user (have had the 2G, 3GS and now 4 model) for 2 1/2 years, and this won't make me "switch"...I just want it FIXED..!

The apple advice is telling me to upgrade the software on my phone.  How am I supposed to do this if the phone won't turn on?  Am I missing something here?

Hi, I bought factory unlocked Iphone 5 from US in Dec 2012. I came back to India few days ago and accidently iphone's screen got damaged.The phone is under limited hardware warranty with no extra apple care plan. I'm planning on buying the iphone 5 because I have an upgrade available. I have never owned an iphone before, but I do have an 2gn ipod which has 8 gbs and has 2 apps and have used 5.5 of my 6.84 gbs available with songs(1175 songs). I have also have 30 photos, and have 1.5 gbs left to fill. If I do get the iphone 5 I will not put music on it, because I have my ipod. I would like to have a lot of apps though, because I like to test them out, and give reviews on them. I have a fair amount of photos in my current phone(around 400), but the camera quality is not that good, and I think because the iphone 5 have a lot more gbs than my current one that I will want to take more than I usually do(although I would probably upload them onto my computer and delete the originals off my phone). I don't have that many contacts and I have a tablet where I play my games and movies on, so that is not an issue. I know this is a bit long but I really want to make the right choice because I plan on having this phone until my next upgrade which is in 2 years. I want to know if 16gbs should be enough or if should I go with the 32gbs? OR if I should just wait for the newer version to come out, and if this is worth to buy. I would also would like to know what the perks and downsides are too. Thank you for your patience and time.

Canadian iPhone 5 in UK

Hello, I bought an iPhone 5 from the Canadian apple store a few months back. I have just got back to the UK and inserted my UK sim card. I'm on Giff Gaff (O2) I can still make and recieve calls and texts. But most of my apps aren't working. 299.00 damage fee b.s. iPhone 4

I received a refurbished iPhone 4 under the 1year apple warranty. My home/power button became stuck, so I went to the vzw store and was told that it was a manufacture defect. I received refurbished phone and sent other phone back. I got my bill and now they charging 299.00 for a damage fee, WHY???My phone has never been out of its case and I know it's not my fault that the button got stuck. I know I'm not paying for no damage fee when the damage had nothing to do with me! Guess ill find new phone carrier cause this is a big boat load of b.s,!!!!!

iPhone 5 home button issue.

Back in November, I got my iPhone 5, and the day got it without even touching the home button, it was slightly pushed in, and by that I mean the home button slightly sinks in & It really bothers me. It was new brand out of the package, do you think if I will to the apple store they would be able to help me? My friend also has an iPhone 5 and hers is perfectly inline with the rest of the ahardware on the bottom of the phone. Hopefully this makes sence. Help please me!

A family member and I swapped iPhone 5's a few days ago, and even before we switched I noticed that their home button was creaking when you applied some pressure to it. Not necessarily pressing down on it to wake up the screen or anything like that. Also, when i do fully press down on it, it feels inconsistent and makes those creaking noises. The phone was purchased in January so it's well within the standard 1 year warranty. Is this a problem any of you have experienced? I would like to know if this is worth going to the apple store for or just learning to live with. Thank you!

i can't restore my iphone iPhone 5

HiI have an Iphone 5 and last night it just turned off while I was asleep so I charged and it turned and it worked but then turns off suddenly so i plugged it again for houers and it just got stuck on the silver apple so I pressed the button on the top right and the home button and it worked againbut while I was in a call it turned off and now it doesnt turn on so I tried to restore it and my itunes says there's a 2001 error and i already checked and my itunes and mac updetes are the latest ones what else can I do? Do I need a new phone?thanks
