I was downloading songs from iTunes with my wifi and noticed that it would take up to 16 minutes to download ONE song. As with 3G, it downloads more than one song 5x faster. But uses up my data. Can you tell me what I can do to change this...
I am running iOS 6.1.3. Recently, and I am not sure if it is related to a recent update or not, but my download speeds have dramatically decreased. I download audio books on a regular basis and they are typically about 120mb in size. These files would typically download in a minute or so. The downloads are now taking 2 -4 hours. I installed speedtest.net to test my speed. My download speeds are ranging between .05 Mbps and .19 Mbps. My upload speeds is consistently over 5 Mbps. I thought that it might be due to my router but I connected my phone to another router with the same results. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Spencer
I want download music in my iphone
iphone 4 running 6.1.2 fails with OTA 6.1.3 update. downloads fine, passes verify, begains installation, but progress bar stops around 20%, phone reboots and then back to where started. Confirmed sufficient space on iphone for update, tried reboot and closing all Apps prior to update, same problem. Was able to implement OTA update for iphone 5 and iPad 4 without problem. Would appreciate any ideas; priorto trying update via iTunes, as seem to always have issues when updating with iTunes. ThanksKris
Please help. I've downloaded the "find my iphone" app but don't see where to open it? It sounds simple, but I've checked downloads and my desktop to no avail.
I was updating from 6 to 6.1.2 and my phone went into recovery mode. I usually get a 3014 error but sometimes it gets past the USB screen and goes about halfway through the apple screen and gets a -1 error. I don't have firewalls, no antivirus, the only thing I have is a mandatory college internet connection program that I don't think I can get rid of. What should I do Also, I already tried to "Hold both home and power button, let go of the home button at the apple screen" but it didn't work.
i dont know how this is possible . Will i be charged somehow ???
Okay so I got my Macbook Air today and am trying to update my iphone 4 to the newest software 4.3.5 as I have had some signal issues with it and they have advised me to do so.It gets to halfway through the dowbload and then sayd "network timed out please check your network settings." My internet is completely fine and my firewall on this mac was turned off and I obviously have no other anti virus on here. Please help because I was reluctant to spend so much money on a Mac anyway - everyone advised me how much better they are and now this has happened!! Cheers, Tarah
trying to download the videos off my iphone 4 to my mac. it only downloads the pictures
I did a update to 6.1.2 and phone turned off and went into recovery mode and all that comes up on my phones screen is a image telling me to connect my usb cable to Itunes. I did that and it says I need to restore my phone first since my phone went into recovery mode. I have done that 3 times and I am currently on my 3rd try and the it tells me I have 45 min til update downloads. The first two times after the download finished the phone still did not turn on and the same usb image was still there on the home screen. In Itunes a window came up prompting me to restore phone which I had just doneWhy does it keep asking me to restore? Any tips to getting this restore to finally work and get my phone to turn back on. Thank you!
good morning The what do I do when I make the app downloads and the following message appears YOUR APPLE ID HAS BEEN DISABLED ??
Dear all, Ever since I upgraded my iphone 4s to iOS6 (which apparently in many aspects is a bad decision), I discover my contacts are emptied from time to time. It is apparent in occasions when there are apps needing to access the contact list (with instant messenging apps like Whatsapp, Line etc, or even the Contacts App itself), and once the disappearing happens, I need to wait the contact list updates (downloads) itself with the entries from iCloud. I also believe the same happened in the background when I do not notice it, because I usually set different ringtones for certain people in my contact list, when the list goes empty and is filled again back from icloud, I will lose all ringtone settings. So I believe this irritating bug must be happening few times everyday sometimes without me noticing. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, and would like to see if Apple would be able to do something about it. This is annoying because if I input a new contact on my phone through the contact app, when this bug happens, I will definitely lose the newly added entries. So to be safe, now when I need to add a new contact, I have to do it on a computer, accessing icloud.com and add directly to the icloud records. It's the first problem I experienced with my iphone for the years I have used the iphone products, but is also a critically fatal one...

I open "iTunes" on my iphone, then "Tones", then choose the ringtone i like and press "Buy Tone".iTunes asks me, how i would like to use my new tone - i choose "define to contact", then it asks to provide access to Contacts, and I say "Yes".Tone downloads, but afterwards i find that contact still has old (default ringtone), so i have to do it myself. Is it a known issue, and what is the solution? Thank you.
Is there something wrong with my phone? I get fast wifi speeds like 50Mbps down and 7Mbps up. But whenever I try to load a video off youtube every second it downloads two seconds of video. On LTE it's insanely quick. I'm about to take this this phone back.
I am trying to download apps on my iphone 4, the app gets half downloaded, i then get a message telling me that the app is not avalible at this time and it keeps happening ? please help
Hi I am probably missing something really obvious here, but if i restore my iphone i lose all my apps, music, photos.....everything. I have to manually sync them all again. To give more details. I have had an issue since 6.0.2 firmware was released that the App Store shows on my phone that updates are available, but i can never get it to load the page to start the downloads. I click on the App Store to be greeted with a blank screen, even though it tells me i have 3, 4, 10 updates needed.I have tried to update them via my PC using iTunes, but it only updates them on my PC, not the phone. So, i deceided to restore the phone and see if that helped, before coming on here to ask advise. I backed up my phone to iCloud as usual, then performed a 'transfer purchases' in iTunes, then a backup.Once that was completed, i restore the phone. It installed the latest software, rebooted, then asked my complete a restore via iTunes. Once the phone was back up and working, i only have the standard 20 apps installed, no music and no photos. It has given me my backgrounds and contacts though. If i look in iTunes, all the apps are there. Its forgot all my music sync options and my photo sync options as well.I can of course, rebuild it from iTunes, but yet again (i had this same issue when i upgraded from my iphone 4 to the 5) i am going to have spend the next hour or so regrouping all my apps and putting them back on the correct pages (yes, i have mild OCD) For the future, what am i doing wrong please? Why does it not remember my installed apps and their layout please? Thanks in advance.
Hello,I have an 8GB iphone 4 that I got about a year ago (some point in January 2012). It has always worked well however I did drop it last June but it only cracked the backing and I went to Apple and got the back replaced. Nothing was wrong with the software! Then today my twitter wasn't working so I deleted the app and downloaded it again, it froze halfway through the installation so I decided to turn my phone off and on again. I turned it off and then on but it got stuck on the apple logo restart screen for about half an hour. So I decided to reboot it (sleep button + home button) and it got stuck on the same logo screen for 20 minutes. Since then I've done countless reboots and plugged it in to my MacBook air; my phone didn't even connect. It just didn't do anything at all! Any ideas?
There is another discussion how this error occurs when you are plugged into your Mac charging as your update concurrently downloads. I think the Apple writers suck for not preventing this error: https://discussions.apple.com/message/21060052#21060052
After downloading iOS6 the iphone went to restart, after getting halfway through the status bar it freezes and wont complete the install and start. Any suggestions on how to get the iphone working again?
me and my son both have iphones, and we have home sharing on so whenever he downloads an app it downloads it on my phone. how do we turn off home sharing?
Tried download 6 times - firewall off, MacKeeper off, after the 4 minute download, all i get is an error message saying the download files were corrupted.Does this download work at all ??What do I have to do.I have wasted an hour for failed downloads.
Hello, Has anyone else noticed that, upon updating or downloading an app, on both the iPad and iphone, the "Unable to download application" error is happening with increasing frequency; especially in the last 12 months? The forums show that I'm not the first to experience this; but it is the increasing likeliness of occurance that annoys me. I would say one-in-three updates/downloads fail due to this error. This is more of an observation than anything else. Thanks,Chris.
I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 with iTunes installed. Now my iphone 4S is no longer recognized in iTunes. Connecting the iphone with USB sends me directly to the MS app that downloads pictures from the iphone. Suggest this is a question of missing Apple driver for Windows 8, iTunes and iphone. MS does not care! This seems to be a general problem with Windows 8 that a number of drivers that used to work with Windows 7 now do not work, ie. iphone to iTunes, HTC to HTCSync, Samsung to Kies etc. I need this connection to work in order to syncronize with Outlook and my iTunes library.
I have an iphone 4 using ios 4.2.6 and need to upgrade to at least ios 4.3 or better yet ios 5. I have never received any update notices. I understand upgrades are through Itunes but when I go to Itunes downloads there is nothing there. Help!
When I download a podcast directly to my iphone or iPad and listen to it I expect it to reflect that status when I come home. Instead the podcast downloads again in iTunes and then wonderful joy it changes the status to unplayed and I wind up having to figure out what I've listened to and what I haven't (I listen to a lot of 'em).
Hi Everyone,I have two iphones under my apple ID accnt. Both iphone has updated to IOS 6.I just downloaded a app to my iphone, and apparently, another iphone that is under same apple ID,downloads same app onto that iphone.Do you guys have any idea? Is it becasue of iCloud? (which we don't use).or something else? would love to hear any feed back. thanks!
I have tried a number of headphones on my iphone and only one side works this is also the case with my speakers only one side of the system will work. However if I pull the jack halfway out it works both sides. What is wrong with my iphone ?
How do I go from 300mb per month for the past year to 3 gigs in one month? iOS 6 and podcasting being removed from the OS. After updating my 4s with iOS 6, my data usages more than quadrupled from 300-400mb per month in the past year to 3 gigs in a month since updating. My usage was the same. So I decided to monitoring my daily usage and made it a point not to use the 3g and was getting 100-200 mb a day in usage still. Then I realized that ever since podcasting was removed from the OS and made into an seperate app it was checking and downloading podcasts automatically even when wifi wasnt available I did the following and my usage is back to normal again. Setting>Podcasts> Turn off Sync Subscription and Turn off Use Cellular Data (I had this turn off, even when I was getting overages) Also do the following: Launch the Podcast AppGo to Library>>For each podcast> Expand the settings by clicking the "right arrow" next to podcast name and uncheck auto-download. There seems to be a bug that when "Auto-Download" is check it downloads whenever a podcast is available even though iOS 6 was told not use cellular data for downloading in the setting above. I also think the app is refreshing and check for new episodes through the 3G as well I now go into each Podcast and manually download each new episode when I am near a wi-fi connection (Make sure the 3G icon is replace by the wifi icon on your iphone). You can still force the podcast to use 3G by manually downloading them when wifi isnt available. Hope this helps and they fix it. AT&T told me before I figured it out, it was not their problem and apple told me there are no issues with sudden overages with iOS 6. Happy Podcasting, Bang P.
Hi Does anyone know how to manage 2 iphones on 1 laptop? My husband and I were using the same laptop account and accessed itunes under our own apple IDs. However on one occasion, Itunes downloaded all 300 apps on my husband's phone. This was both his and my apps. He organised his folders on his iphone and the next time he connected his iphone to the laptop, all the apps downloaded again! I was advised to make a second account and access itunes via the second account. However when I connected my iphone to Itunes on the second account, it brings up my phone however it doesn't recognise that I have any apps and the CDs that I have imported, I cannot download on iphone via Itunes. So I would really like some advice on what we should do. When I connect my husband's phone to Itunes, it also automatically does the back up which then downloads all the 300 apps again. I thought there was a way to do this manually, however I am not sure how to prevent this as his just runs automatically. Where when I connect my phone- it does nothing! Help on this headache would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
My husband and I share the same itunes account on our phones so whenever he downloads something new it downloads on my phone as well and vice-versa.Just recently, after iOS 6 update, we noticed that his contacts merged with my iphone & my contacts have merged with his. Also, he is getting notifications from an app that we share... But the notifications are from MY friends on facebook. The app is called voxer and whenever someone (from my Facebook friends) sign up, my husband gets the notification. Which is really weird because im not even signed on to Facebook on his phone. Somehow my information has merged with his phone and his mine. Why is this? Is there a way I can make things back to normal? Thanks in advanced.
I need someone who can help me figure out why my phone wont take the the download to update its softwear so i can download dumb apps this is getting very aggrovatin.... HELP PLEASE!!
I'm a huge Apple proponent, have been for years. I defend them every chance I get. I also am a software engineer at a fortune 100 company, so I understand IT processes, and the complexities of rolling out software on a large scale. That said, iOS 6 is a buggy mess; it's unbelievable that a major release with as many problems as it's had, was allowed to be released. On top of that, the response in the form of a patch/update, has been non-existent. I still prefer Apple products, but the iOS team needs to get their "stuff" together. Listed below are just the problem items I've experienced across 2 devices (ipad, iphone). WiFi - Problems of varying varieties, randomly dropped connections, failure to load pages when connected, problems connecting to AES enabled networks(although this may be an iphone5 specific problem).WiFi iTunes Sync - Can't sync over wifi. Still haven't resolved the issue with my iphone.Contacts Deleted during the upgrade - Luckily I had backupsiTunes Match - Randomly disables itself, pops up a message that my subscription has expired (when it hasn't), randomly freezes, randomly completes playing a playlist when there are hundreds of tracks remaining, problems with itunesMatch are many and some have been around prior to iOS6iMessage - Randomly disables. I've had to go into settings and turn on iMessage several times.iTunesApp - Blank screen when launching the app. To resolve, you have to rig the date, re-open the app, change the date back, and sing mary had a little lamb while rubbing your tummy 3 times.iTunesApp pard 2 - Performance is abysmal. Page loads are slow, downloads/updates are slow. Random 'can't connect to the itunes store' messages. All this over a very fast internet connection.Degraded battery life - A full reset/restore seems to have helped, however this shouldn't be necessary from a user experience perspective.Location Services - Location icon hangs even when all apps are killed from the multi-tasking dock.Notifications - I've had to toggle off/on various apps to restore notifications that previously worked in iOS5 Scanning the forums there are dozens of additional bugs/problems that could be added to this list. This is completely unacceptable. If this release followed a full software development process/cycle, including QA testing, User Acceptance Testing, etc. these items should have been uncovered. So, either this release was a rush, with Apple fully understanding the glut of problems that existed, or the processes they have in place were circumvented; maybe a combination of both. Apple, get your act together. I've spent hours myself trying to trouble shoot my problems, my friends' problems, all while trying to assure everyone that this is the exception. I've also told anyone else that hasn't upgraded to hold off until an update is released. This certainly isn't the message you want your customers to hear. And as a loyal customer myself, my patience is wearing thin. I'm sure this post will disappear into the ether, but just wanted to rant on the off chance someone from Apple support takes a look. I have been contacted by support in the past after posting to the discussion board so who knows.
iphone5problems29-Sep-2012 13:04MY PROBLEM:got the iphone 5 yesterday and when i connect my iphone to itunes in the capacity bar it seems to say 5.9gb of music is on my phone after ive synced it etc when i check my phone though it says ive no songs in my music library.I bought a song on itunes on the app on my phone to see if that would atleat go into my music library and that wont either. When i go into about it says I have 0 songs so they are obviously not hidden anywhere but they just wont go on either Im scared this is a software problem and when i read apples warranty it said software problems are not covered even though my phones a day old and i got it for my birthday:(:( Tried restoring phone too and it wouldnt let me restore it, it said it had to download one iphone update before it could restore and just at the end of the iphone update every time i tried the update failed so i cant even restore my phone Any suggestions? 50 mins on the phone to apple and they werent much help *using iphone 5 ios 6 and 10.7 itunes*some songs on my laptop from cds/illegal downloads others downloaded from itunes NONE will go on phone
I've tried updating about six or seven times. Done dns server flushes, switched off my firewall and all the rest but everytime I it downloads to between 70mb and 190mb and then just quits! I've tried using my modem instead of the wifi router just incase the other ppl connected on the router are influencing it in some way. It's really wasting my time and data bundles right now. I think it would eventually save me more time and money if I just buy the iphone 5 and put my 4s away in the closet with its outdated iOS. Please just give me some advice if you can, I really want to do this update! Also my iTunes is the latest version and the version currently on my 4s is 5.1.1. thank you! and obviously my phone is also not restoring because it wants to update first. :/ it also says network connection reset.
I installed iOS 6 on my PC(win 7) and connected my phone but when the download finished, it left my phone in the recovery mode or the screen with the USB and Itunes symbol. Ive tried almost 8 times to restore my phone but every time the same thing happens; it downloads the update but nothing changes on the phone. I've tried it on 3 computers and still no success, so my phone is just a paper weight as of right now. does anyone know things that could help? thanks
I purchased my iphone 5 today for Sprint. The App store has been terribly slow and I am wondering if others are having this issue? Is this a luanch day high volume bandwith issue w/ the apple store, or device related? This is happening on both of our iphone 5's.
Hi, I have annoying bug where I have songs stuck in the downloads section, under more... in the itunes store (iphone app) which still show up in my song lists but don't play. If I open up the itunes store app I have notifications for downloads (which is pre-purchased content under my account which was bought on my macbook). When I try to download them I get an error message "Unable to Download Song,"This song" could not be downloaded at this time, DONE or RETRY. This isn't a massive problem cos I can manually add the LP from my mac, the bug is I have no way of canceling this proceedure on my iphone and the songs are showing up in my songs list on my iphone even though they haven't downloaded. I've cleared all the music off my iphone using my mac and manually re-added the LP now its showing duplicate songs but the songs from the app store on my iphone play blank (obviously cos the download isn't complete)... how the **** do I cancel these downloads and clear the blank song duplicates? any ideas? Also these don't show up anywhere when I connect my iphone to my mac in iTunes. Is this a cloud issue? Any suggestions help would be fantastic. Thanksenrocc
I tried to update my iphone 4 to iOS 6 today and I keep on getting an error! It says: iTunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iphone before it can be used with iTunes. I press ok. Then I hit the Restore button. Then it downloads iOS 6 but it will not work. It is still just stuck in Recovery Mode. What do I do??
My daughter was playing on my phone and I am no longer able to access the App store from it. The button has totally disappeared. It appears to stop automatic downloads from my Ipad going to my phone also. I am unable to update any of my files or just get new apps for myself. I have saved phone to Itunes and then reset and it did not come back. Does anyone know how to fix this please?
got the iphone 4s for cricket today and its horrible so far! i cannot download ANY apps at all, dont know how to set itunes downloads for ringtones and it wont let me do anything. i didnt spend this much money for something crappy. when i tried to download facebook app is says "waiting" and then wont download
Hi, I have an iphone 4S with iOS 5.1.1 I ALWAYS have data roaming turned off as I travel a reasonable amount and don't want the charges. All automatic downloads are also turned off. On a recent holiday to France the phone the phone decided randomly to download my emails at 3pm one Friday afternoon (after we'd been there for almost a week) - this totalled around 3MB and cost me around £10.00 This was the only time the phone did any downloads (it was in my pocket not being used at the time) - so it appears as if randomly for around 10 minutes one wet Friday afternoon the phone decided to ignore the data roaming switch and download my emails (and apparently nothing else). I have read some real horror stories online about this kind of thing but nothing where it just pops on and off.As I travel a reasonable amount I can't afford for this to keep happening. Does anyone else know about this?
Hi All. I have an iPhone4 which "needs to be restored". ITunes downloads the software and begins to unpack and restore the phone. The display on the phone is active and the progress bar is incrementing durng the process. About half way through the process i recieve an error (1) from iTunes. When trying to restore in DFU mode this changes to error(2001). The device's serial number is unknown (n/a) to iTunes. I am currently travelling and do no have documentation or original packaging with me. I do not believe the warranty would be valid, and i am unaware of the location of any Apple stores within the region i am currently residing. However, this phone is registered with Apple, would there be a way of verifying this number from my AppleID account? Is this a lost cause? Or is there a clever boffin out there who knows what i can do about this. Kind regards and thank you in advance for any light that can shed on this matter, Dan
App downloads half way then says app can't complete downloading. So I deleted it and tried to re download it and it still does the same thing.
Whenever I hit the "updates" button in the App Store on my iphone 4, a pop-up saying "Cannot connect to iTunes store" comes up. I can still download new apps. I have reset my password on my Apple ID, I have tried enabling/disabling restrictions, etc.... This is occuring on both wifi and 3G. I am out of ideas. I have an iPad 2 and there are no problems there. I have checked for all available downloads on iTunes, and nothing new is there. Help?
I'm trying to download apps from itunes onto my iphone. When I look at my itunes account in the app stoure under purchases, it shows that the apps have downloaded. When I look at my phone, I can see them on my phone but they all say "waiting..." underneath the icons. How do I get them to actually work? What is the next step? I tried to synch the apps to my phone, but followed the steps and got the screen that I thought I wanted, but then wasn't able to actually highlight anything on that screen. Looking for help if anyone knows what I'm doing wrong.
WHen I download from AppStore, my apps only download halfway then stop.it says sorry unable to download at this time.if anybody knows y I would be much appreciative.thank you
I found that I haven't been able to upgrade my apps or download new apps since yesterday. This has happened before and a reset settings worked, yet this time it doesn't... The only way I the apps to finish upgrading is to go on iTunes or use my wifi and disable using cellular data. I have an iphone 4 for Sprint. I have tried a hard reset, downloading iExplorer and deleting the downloads file, signing in and out of my account on my phone, reset all settings, reset network settings, and even a system restore to my last back up, which was yesterday when I realized there was a problem. I also have to mention that whenever I try to install an app using cellular data it goes on waiting, then loading, then it loads about a little more than half way through, and it repeats. It never finishes, it goes into a cycle until I get a pop up stating "_______ is could not be downloaded at this time." with options of "done" or "retry" and when I press done, it should stop trying to install itself yet it goes into that same cycle again where it goes waiting, loading, blue bar 1/2 way through, and then repeat again... I do not use podcasts so that could not be the problem, I have none in my downloads list.
For two weeks I have not been able to download apps <20mb on my Sprint iphone 4s. I'm not the only one, as several people in the store at the time were having the same issue. They didn't know what to tell me because "Apple and Sprint know about the issue, but neither one wants to take the blame." My Sprint Android devices download apps just fine. However, my iphone 4s downloads apps on WiFi just fine. Wat do Big Fruit? Help me out here please. Downloading apps is a rudimentary feature of the smartphone at this stage in the game. Thank You
when i am suppose to upgrade my apps it starts and then halfway though it stops and tells me to keep retrying but it never finished the upgrade
