Water damage to screen but phone working iphone 4S

I got a small amount of water in my iphone, at first i thought it was ok but after about half hour the water had spread through my screen, and it started going blotchy and cloudy. The touch screen still works, speakers, charger, camera etc. Only thing is phone wont turn off? I tried the rice for a few hours but didnt do much. Does the apple warrenty cover water damage if not how do i get this repaired?

Should I get iphone 5 containing 16gb or 32gb Or should I wait for newer version of iphone to come out

I'm planning on buying the iphone 5 because I have an upgrade available. I have never owned an iphone before, but I do have an 2gn ipod which has 8 gbs and has 2 apps and have used 5.5 of my 6.84 gbs available with songs(1175 songs). I have also have 30 photos, and have 1.5 gbs left to fill. If I do get the iphone 5 I will not put music on it, because I have my ipod. I would like to have a lot of apps though, because I like to test them out, and give reviews on them. I have a fair amount of photos in my current phone(around 400), but the camera quality is not that good, and I think because the iphone 5 have a lot more gbs than my current one that I will want to take more than I usually do(although I would probably upload them onto my computer and delete the originals off my phone). I don't have that many contacts and I have a tablet where I play my games and movies on, so that is not an issue. I know this is a bit long but I really want to make the right choice because I plan on having this phone until my next upgrade which is in 2 years. I want to know if 16gbs should be enough or if should I go with the 32gbs? OR if I should just wait for the newer version to come out, and if this is worth to buy. I would also would like to know what the perks and downsides are too. Thank you for your patience and time.

Fixing wet iphone 4-flash light and on screen dead iphone 4S

There seems to be a lot of people out there dropping their iphone in the bath so I thought I would share my experience of fixing mine.Firstly if its in warranty consult your dealer - if this doesn't help try the following: A lot of people say stick it in bags of rice / silicon, etc but here is a quicker, more reliable way which is far less likely to contaminate one of the connectors. You do not need any special equipment. Make sure phone is off (If you can still see the screen) - hold sleep and Home for 5 seconds and tap the red off button that appearsPop your oven on a low heat ( less than 100C) for 5 minutes.Wrap your phone inside a sock, doubled over a couple of times so the phone is well protected.Turn oven offPop phone into oven for 30 minutes or longer preferably You could use a hairdryer but be very careful to keep it moving to avoid any localised heat spots that could damage components. If the phone got really soaked you might want to jump down to taking the phone apart - if it is still full of water powering up or charging could result in further damage Let the phone cool and try to power up, if nothing happens check for any signs of water vapour still in the phone and repeat if present. Otherwise try charging and powering up Still no success? this step requires a very small crosshead (some need a 5star) screwdriver, don't compromise and try and use a larger one, damaged screws will cause you even more expense. Very cheap on ebay. Unscrew the 2 small screws at the bottom next to the speaker, slide the back up and lift away. Unscrew the very small screw holding the battery connector in place and pry up the connector (lift the side nearest the edge first). Be careful not to lose the screw or the small metal bracket under the connector. Use the plastic tab sticking up half way along the battery to ease the battery out (usual there is a small amount of glue on them). This will reset the phone (you will not lose anything but the phone will hopeful power up when the battery is replaced). This is a good time to try the drying procedure again to ensure there is no more moisture present. Reconnect the battery screw everything back in place and press the wake button. If this has not succeeded you may need specialist help to test more components.Good luck ( and I cannot stress enough - keep the temperature low when drying)

iphone 5 turning off at 40 battery power

Hi guys. Today when I played music through spotify to my car audio system (through minijack), my iphone 5 turned itself off in the same way it does when the battery is empty. At this point, the battery was at 40%. When I tried turning it on immediately after, the 'connect to power outlet' symbol showed up. I also remember I used the snapchat app at that point. Now a couple of hours later, I could turn it on normally and I have 40% power left. At the moment I'm running iOS 6.1.3 and I've never experienced this before.  Has anyone else had this problem? Could it be related to the amount of power drawn through the headphone jack?  Thanks!

Consistent problem with iphone 4S software

Hello! I have had issues with my iphone 4S since the day I got it. I have been to the apple store more times than I can count and every time it's some stupid excuse or half assed attempt to fix my phone. Well now I am out of warranty and they told me there is nothing they can do. I have all kinds of problems, from battery issues to apps not working to the screen freezing on me, etc. Every time I go they tell me it's an issue with the software and reset my phone to factory settings. I set up the phone as new and then bring over a small amount of pics, music files and apps. I never restore from back up.  The most current issue is the phone drains to 1% battery and when I plug it in to charge, it acknowledges the charger but won't charge. The phone then dies and I am unable to turn it on for at least 48 hours. This has happened twice now. Apple ran diagnostics and said everything was fine and it was probably a corrupt file. We again reset it to factory settings and I was instructed to not bring over any files. I then used the phone for one day and it happened again. I also have not been able to back up to iCloud since I got the phone. The backup always fails. I am desperate at this point and apple will not replace the phone because it is out of warranty. I never had issues backing up to iCloud or with my files on my iphone 4. My husband plugs his phone into the same computer and has no issues with a corrupt file. Any thoughts or suggestions on what I should do?

I'm new to the iphone; I switched from android.  I'm trying to find a data app similar to what I used on my old phone.  It would show me the data amount, allow me to put in the data limit and start date.  It would also show me the apps that were using the data.  The app was Onavo count I think.  I tried the iphone version and its not  the same.  It wants me to set up a VPN?-is that safe?  I just want a good data app that is accurate and allows me put in my data limit and start date -bill cycle date.  Is there an app free or paid; free hopefully that will do that? Thank you for your help.

iphone 5 external speaker no long works

I've had my iphone since October 21st, 2012. This is a white, 16gb AT&T iphone 5. The issue here is the ONLY way to get my iphone to play sounds is to have headphones in. It plays no sounds whatsoever unless its using headphones or during a call on the speaker by the from facing camera. I've tried turning my phone on and off, updating it to iOS 6.1.3, restoring the settings to factory settings, restoring my phone, then using a backup. I've tried the q-tip in the headphone jack, and pushing on the bottom right side of the phone for 10 seconds. It's only had a very,very small amount of water in it maybe 3 weeks ago. I rarely drop it, and I do my best to keep it in great condition. The first time I noticed the issue with no sound is right after I tried to use FaceTime, using speaker phone. I'm hoping there is someway to fix this without having to drive all the way up to the nearest Apple store and hassle with them. Any more suggestions, I'd gladly appreciate it.

I switched from an iphone 4S to a 5 yesterday.  My contacts did not all switch.  The volume keeps resetting to the lowest amount.  When I set the volume to high, it does not set Siri's to high.  I can barely hear Siri.  I used ITUNES for a backup on my 4S.  Most of my apps wouldn't transfer, it said not enough room.  All my songs are greyed out and not playable.  I am using the same ITUNES account.  This is a NIGHTMARE.  All my email settings will not stay.  The programs keep asking for the passwords, even though they have been entered multiple times.  I read the email, then the next time I open the email account it prompts for a password.   I HATE THIS PHONE.

limit on amount of phone numbers allowed in Group MMS iphone 5

I have tried searching online and could not find the answer to my issue, and have had no luck. I have an iphone 5 with iOS 6.1.3 software which says on my phone that it is up to date.I recently have been using Group MMS to send out the same text to multiple people at once. It's great and all, but it will only allow me to add a total of 10 phone numbers to one group. If I try to type in an 11th person, that phone number disappears when I begin to type the text message.  I've been messing with it today and talked to another iphone users and was told they have not had this problem with sending to more than ten phone numbers themselves.  I was wondering if there is a setting in the phone I need to change, is there some limit to the phone numbers allowed in a single Group MMS, is it a problem with the phone itself, etc.?   Thanks!

I received an overload of sms' and mms' and after 40 or so messages I cant even open the application due to the amount of data. I already backed up and restarted the iphone. I am afraid to reset since it will delete all of the data, is there a way to just delete the messages? I appreciate any help and ideas,Jorge Martin

HELP Problem with iphone 4 screen color Discoloration and Image Persistence

Hi guys! I had this problem about 3 months ago. I started having this when I took a screen shot of a game then suddenly after the flash, the colors changed.Yesterday it came back to normal for the first time but after several minutes, it went back to the distorted colos mode.  Here are some pictures of the actual screen condition. You can see the problem here. The icons have a bit of a dark shade in their middle parts, but when I touch and select an icon, it shows their normal colors.*Look at the VIDEO ICON, PHOTO ICON and PHONE ICON.As you can see in this image, it's like on a thermal camera mode. LOL! it also has a large amount of image persistence in it.  In this image, you can see that the lower part of the screen is missing (blackened) and has some image persistence too. You can also see the difference in color of the messages tab.Image color is different and has image persistence too. The colors are different and the screens bottom part is darkened.  One thing I noticed here is that when the accesive touch button menu is active, the icons behind it get their normal colors back.*take a look a the APP STORE ICON, MAIL ICON, SAFARI ICON, CONTACTS ICON and PASSBOOK ICON    Any help guys? Is there any software that can fix this or any method you know? If there's anyone who have the same problem and has encountered the same problem, kindly reply and post some solutions.Thanks in advanced for those who will read this post and give me some answers!

I am running out of usage space. How do I increase the total amount of space I have on my iPhone4S: for things like programs & apps such as, iTunes & more music & like MusicTube & YouTube. The only reason I have any space now is because the music that I had downloaded and synced onto my phone from iTunes I had to take it all off. I would really really love to be able to put my music back onto my iphone. Currently I'm using apps like Spotify, AOLradio, and MusicTube to listen to music. Hi there, I was wondering how I could go about speaking to someone regarding issues with a massive amount of excess data usage since having iphone 4s. I have spoken to my provider and have been advised to speak you regarding this issue. In the last 3 years i have had problems with 5 iphones and each time have been replaced due to battery problems. The only reason I decided to get another iphone was because of this convenience but am starting to get pretty over these constant issues. Battery problems iphone 4S

iphone doesn't show charge more than 1%, however working longer then expecting at this amount of battery charge. I was playing several games for about 30 min., captured 5 min. video, watched few youtube videos, everything with turned on wi-fi, bluetooth, location services, etc. What logically means nothing wrong with the actual battery capacity, something wrong with the software. Due to this problem iphone doesn't turn on, as it probably believe it have low charge, only after several hour plugged to charger (about 4-5) it goes on working again.  Things done: Hard reset (many, maybe too many times)Sofware restore P.S. Hello,  Apple user's, I am a 15yr old with a passion for computers & design. Anyways I am interested in developing for the iphone, as I'll be getting one in a few months. I've never really developed any type of games before, but am in a game design school magnet, and want to begin to learn how to program as I've been meaning to for a while now. I'm interested in developing for the iphone, and know I need a Mac, Objective-c knowledge as well as XCode knowledge, and a $99 Subscription to be able to sell and test my apps. So here's some questions I've been wanting to ask for awhile...1. Would you recommend a Mac-Mini ? I see i5 Mac mini's on craigslist going for around $400-$450, and know I could afford that. I switch between my mom/dad's house weekly, and have a Windows based desktop that I built w/ monitor at each house, So I'm thinking i could just bring a small Mac-Mini back and forth with me, as they're pretty small.2. Could you guy's point me towards some nice Objective-C or XCode tutorials or books? I've just started spring break and want to take advantage of the time off.3. I'm only 15, so how would I go about selling apps, Ill probably have mostly free apps but would like to incorporate paid versions too, and I know i need to be 18 to sign a contract, would i just get my mom to sign the contract, and if she gets taxed extra I would just pay her the amount she was taxed ? (BTW, I'm in FL)4. How would I sell apps under a company name, I've heard of people trying to list apps and it saying they're real name instead of a company / made up name. There are obvious reasons I'd like to sell an app under a company name, no one wants to buy an app from a company named, for example "Steve". It pretty much set's your app up for failure. Would I have to register all kinds of legal crap just to make it say a developer name like, for example " FunTide Apps".5. Low memory space but wrong iphone 4S

On my iphone 4s the phone shows photos and camera usage at 9 GB when hooked to itunes shows 10 GB in "other" and small amount in photos and camera?  I have like 40 pictures on the camera after deleting almost everything.  Any ideas what could be causing this?  I looked and couldn't find anyone having a similar issue.. Hello all, I have a iphone 4s with greyed out problem. My phone had a water damage but it did not cause anything on the phone. However, 2 weeks ago my wifi just greyed out. I cannot use wifi anymore. What I am wondering is, how much money do I need to replace the phone ? I saw 150€ and 150$ to replace. I suppose Apple gives the "0" phone to customers after the payment but I want to be sure on the amount of the money ? Does anyone has an idea on that ? Thank you.

Was some update done so that my phone that is only a few years old is completely obsolete? I paid the same amount for my phone as everyone else and pay the same every month now for services I am not permitted to use. Is anyone else with a 3G experiencing this problem? iphone 4s mic malfunctioning

I have found several threads about the microphone not working right but none like as follows.  When i place or recieve a call on my iphone 4s in typical operation (no bluetooth / speakerphone etc) the other end of the call is treated to a large amount of high pitch noise and whistling sounds.  If I put it on speakerphone everything works correctly, or if i plug in a headset everything works correctly.  I saw a thread about blasting out the noise cancelling mic hole by the headphone jack and i blasted the bejezus out of it using compressed air for several minutes to no avail.  The phone has had no big drops or water damage and is usually chillin in its case.  The other thing i noticed is if i call my desk phone and i tap the top of the phone i can hear the tapping but if i tap the bottom of the phone i dont. So the noise cancelling mic is fucntional. It basically sounds like a screaching horrible sound when have it in normal mode on the other end. I can hear people fine.

Trying to reduce 'other' on i phone, have deleted all music files as suggested, but it shows I have 25 songs on i phone in i tunes, but nothing is on the i phone to delete' This problem is causing me hot sweats and high blood pressure - nothing works on my i phone 4s anymore, useless piece of kit. 'phone is 3 months' old, previoud 3s was great,  Have all the latest updates, have tried diskAid to remove '4 gb' of Other, followed their instructions to the letter, but 'other' keeps on increasing and I have NO music on my phone. Bottom of i tunes shows a small amount of 'blue' which when hovered over, says 25 songs!   Music is empty on my i phone!! Also getting 'storage almost full' every day I turn on i phone. I have spent the whole month of January trying to get my Google Calendars to display after recent update removed them. Month previously, trying to get all my original Contacts when upgrated to 4s. Oh, and yes, made a 'phone call!!!!

APP TO TRACK DATA USAGE FROM EACH APP iphone 4

Guys, i am experiencing the same. My data package got over, and i took time to recharge ( 4 days). And during these 4 days, my phone battery was amazing, i used to charge it once in 2 days. Im sure there is some app that uses data extensively that screws our battery. When i connected to wifi , i noticed the battery getting low as well. If only APPLE was smart enough, to create some software that tells us, that its using this much amount of data and at what time, then this battery issue will be resolved.But that wont happen, because then they wont be a lot of free too good to be true free apps, which collects data and whatsoever without we know. Until then, enjoy your life with a USB cable in your pocket and a car charger is your car, to charge it thrice a day.Thanks.

iphone 4S battery draining too fast

My battery is only lasting half a day. My partner has the exact same phone and uses the same charger, he also uses his phone about the same amount yet his battery last twice as long. My current phone is only 1 week old because Telecom have me a brand new one cause the exact same thing happened to my previous phone, although my previous phone lasted about 8 months until I started having problems.

In a total of £98.91!!!!!!!   I am absaloutely livid with this as my son tried to purchase other characters on the impression that the game was FREE!!!!   I want to get a full refund how do I do this???????

2 iphone s one iTunes account

When my son was yonger I had an iphone and gave it to him then got another iphone for myself. Both phones used the same itunes account and it was not really that big of a deal at the time. Now he has a 4 and I have a 4s. Since then he has been buying apps and music on the itunes store. Now that he is in his first year of college he got his own iTunes ID and as a result when he tries to paly music or use apps under the previous account (my account) he can not use them. The apps are really not a big deal but he had purchased a significant amount of music. How can I get the music he purchased over to his new itunes account (ID) or at least on Mac? I'm open to suggestions.

iphone 5 battery’s life issue was improved significantly

iphone 5 battery’s life issue was improved significantly To all who are experiencing the battery unexplained drainage on the new iphone 5. I had this issue as well when I first got my new iphone 5, but seems to be doing much better now after a couple of resets to all settings (Settings, General, Reset, Reset All Settings). I truly believe that it is just a glitch somewhere in the OS which gives a false reading on the battery.  I also let the battery died completely and recharged it to 100% a couple of times, and that probably reset the battery gauge. I now have been using my phone from 8am -11pm with no problems at all. Before I did this, I had to charge my phone 2 to 3 times per day just for normal usage. Every time I let it died completely and recharged it to 100%, it just got better. (see screenshot for yesterday’s usage) It was crazy that this issue with the battery only happened with one of my two new iPhones 5.I am now getting about the same amount of battery life that I used to get from my iphone 4. I am using the battery until my phone dies everyday just to see if that will reset the battery gauge even more. So far I think it is getting better, and it is actually doing better than the one phone I thought had no issues.

iphone 4S will not switch on-tries but fails

I used my this morning and all was working. About an hour later, I went to look at my phone and got no response at all. The screen was blank and neither the power nor the home button made any difference. It has been connected to a power source for about half an hour (both a wall plug and a USB cable) and it looks like the phone is going to switch on (the silver Apple logo appears) but then the screen goes blank again and nothing happens until the silver Apple logo appears again. The silver Apple logo appears for approximately 15 seconds and the blank screen appears for about the same amount of time. This cycle has been going on since the phone was plugged in to a power source and holding both the home and power button does not induce the restart mechanism. Any ideas anyone?

Hi folks - I have a 64GB iphone 5.  When wifi is enabled and I am at work (this doesn't occur on any other wifi network that I have yet found) the phone will not go into standby mode (though the screen turns off) as evidenced by the Usage and Standby times being almost identical.  In approximately 3 hours, when wifi is enabled, my phone will go from 100% to below 20% and is quite hot to the touch. The wifi network at my work is WPA2 encrypted, wireless N and G, and 2 SSID's are broadcast for the same network (to support staff whose wireless laptops haven't been switched to the new SSID - don't get me started - it's a stupid setup).  Anyways, the wifi quality is dodgy at past and even though the signal remains strong, internet connectivity frequently drops.  I suspect that the wireless router is defective but I have no control over that and have been ignored by the IT folks.   To make matters even more interesting, my iPad 4 connects to the same network at work and the battery doesn't drain and the device goes into standby without issue. If I disable wifi on the phone while at work, the phone goes into standby and the Usage actually reflects the amount of time the device is actually used (a fraction of the total time). I have reset network settings on the phone, reflashed 6.01 and restored from backup, disabled location services, etc... but to no avail. Do you think there is a defect with the phone in its ability to handle the dodgy wifi at my work when the iPad manages it fine or is there something else that I could do to stay connected to the wifi without the phone chewing through battery, heating up, and not sleeping? Thanks folks!
