I have an iPhone 5 16GB for AT&T and I've had problems with the phone's home button (not recognizing my click) and issues with wifi connections on multiple networks. The phone is obviously still under warranty, but I have a dilemma. The iPhone has a small crack in the upper right hand corner of the phone. This happened a few months ago, it doesn't come close to the screen or anything, but I'm wondering if Apple will refuse to swap my phone because of this. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I dropped a hard metal spoon while i was clearing up and it landed directly ontop of my iphone when it was the table and its cracked the screen. The phone still works as if no damage has happened, but its just a crack and im worried it will get worse. I bought this phone definately less than a year ago, around christmas because i remember being served through the fast lanes, so its still under warranty. I just wanted to know how much it costs to fix it. My friend told me she took her phone back when she owned an iphone because she had cracked the screen too by dropping it. And they gave her one free, so i dont know how much it is, but when my brother went because of the speakers not working on his, they wanted him to pay £119, but that was two years ago. I doubt very much i will get a free one because it was damage caused by me, so i just want a rough idea how much it will cost to fix because im hearing two different things. Thanks in advance
My phone slipped out of my hand landing face down on my kitchen floor. the screen is now cracked. nothing else is wrong with my phone and I want to only replace the screen. I don't see a need to get another phone if mine is fine (besides the big crack on the front.) I want to know if I take my phone to an apple store.. will/ can they replace the screen only? I'm not worried about price and I know warranty doesn't cover accidental damage.
i hv apple 4s and itz still under warrenty but last it fallen on d floor and screen got crack but touch is still workin. help??hw much screen gona cost and what about ma warrenty??
My friend has an iPhone5 and the screen cracks while charging, after the crack the home button totally broke down. She took the phone to the carrier and they told my friend that this case is off warranty and she needs to pay for it!!! the phone itself didn't have a single scratch!!! Can anyone help me please? Thank you.
is this possible to fix?
I was just wondering if Apple fixes crack and how much it would be for an IPhone 5?
I recently noticed I have a small crack at the top of my iPhone 4 screen. The crack is about 1 cm long and is curved. I'm worried the crack will start to spread if I drop it again! Is there anyway I can get the crack fixed asap? Or for a cheap cost? I don't exactly want to replace the whole screen but if that's necessary then I guess I'd have to. I'm only 13 so I can't drive to the Apple Store whenever. Thanks guys!
My friend's iPhone 4 fall and cracked and after that, he has a very low signal in the iPhone comparing to before. What causes this?
I bought my new iPhone 5 through Optus and it was delivered Wednesday. I didn't get the extra Apple Care plan, and today, barely 3 days later there is a crack in the front glass!!!!! Can Apple fix this under the standard warranty or am I up for more money already??? It hasn't been dropped or bumped so not sure how the crack even got there? :(
So I've had my iPhone 5 for a few months now and today I noticed that there is a small crack on the home button within the little white square. Also perhaps as a result of this the button feels somewhat loose and makes a clicking noise when I touch the button without actually pressing it. I have previously dropped my phone but that was a while back and it was fine then. It still functions properly but after comparing it with my brothers iPhone 5 there's is definitely a noticeable difference with the home button as mine has sunk in a bit and doesn't sit flush with the housing. It's obviously still within warranty and I don't want to pay for a replacement so will Apple repair the home button if I take it to them?
I'm not sure if this is a question anyone can help with, but about a month ago I noticed a mark showing up in my iphone photos. At first I thought it was a dead pixel, but I realized when I zoomed in that it was purple which can only mean its a microscopic crack or scratch in the camera lens. >.< Idk how it got there, but it's definitely a huge eye sore in my photos. Any advice on what to do in this case? Is this something that would be covered by my phone insurance (my provider is at&t) or something I could visit the Apple Store to have fixed? or is that only covered by Apple Care?
I have a very small upper right corner crack on my iPhone 4s and i was reading other forums and I was wondering if the One-Time replacement was still in occurrence.
My Iphone was distroyed by the snow remover machine. Both side cracked but evrey fuction still work except for the color of the screen which turn to be something like negative weird color. Black on white mode isn't on and I've tried to reset my phone but nothing seem to work. What should I do?
I have a small crack on my iPhone 5 screen and I DO NOT have AppleCare . What will it cost to fix it?
A few days ago,i ordered a iphone 5 online.but i found problems that a little crack on the corner of that iphone 5,so i wanna change another one, please.
The back of my iPhone 4S is crack how can I make an appt?
I'm thinking of buying an IPhone soon. I heard that IPhone 3 and 3S are more less likely to break than the 4 and 4s. But i like the thickness of the newer iphones. i didnt put iphone 5 cause its too big. (i dont have ocd) I'm just wondering because my sister has a 3g and not yet a crack (she has a temper) but i like the white iphones (wouldn't mine getting a black) i really dont know which iphone and which color to pick. (except the iphone 1 (2g) ) not getting the first! but any suggestions? would be happy, thanks!
Ive got a Iphone 4 and the screen broke last week. The touch screen at the bottom doesnt work all that well but it still has great cell service. The biggest problem is ever since the screen broke the wifi is really weak. The only time i can pick up the wifi signal is if im in the same room as my wireless router. If i go in the next room over it wont pick up the signal. My question is, could the broken screen be the cause of the weak wifi and could replacing the screen help the issue and bring the wifi strength back to normal. Or could the drop that broke the screen also have damaged whatever the internal wifi antenna is?
My iphone 4 was dropped on the bottom right corner, and the screen did not crack at all. The screen won't turn on, but alerts and noises come from the phone when i get a notification. What can i do?
I have an iPhone 5 32gb black and slate and today after accidently dropping it there is a large crack from the middle button upwards. I have booked an appointment on Sunday at the Genius Bar at Chermside Apple Store. My question is will I get a refurb model? If so can someone who had owned a refurbished model tell me what they are like, are the rubbish? Have problems? Scratches or damage? And what do they come with? I'm Apple OCD and hate having a single mark or damage on my Apple Products .
I have an iPone 5 that I set on a sports bench while playing a sport out side. It was about 30 degrees out. After a half hour of play. I picked up the phone, touched the screen to see if there were any messages and crack, the screen shattered. Not only that but the phone battery was completely dead. Has anyone else had this problem? I have Apple Care Plus on the phone and was told the repair counted as one of the incidents covered by the plan. When I argued the point that it broke due to cold the representative said he understood and wished it could be covered but Apple's policy is to treat all glass breakage as an accident. I am an engineer, not a materials engineer but an engineer all the same. I suspect there is a design flaw with the screen due to its shape and the thinness of the device. It appears to me the case cooled at a quicker rate then the glass and stressed the screen. The screen was further stressed by the heat of the electronics inside. When I touched the cold screen with my worm finger, the added heat as a point source further stressed the screen to its yield point, causing it to shatter. I believe this is a product flaw that Apple should repair at no cost. Please let me know it you have had a similar issue. I did not have the third party screen proctor on the phone. Only the glass. If you have not had this issue, protect the phone from the cold. I had a iPone 4 for years that was left in much colder temperatures without issue. That is why I suspect the shape and thinness of the device can cause the screen to crack in cold temperatures.
Hello, I bought my iphone 5 month and a half ago. I noticed like 15 days ago a little scratch between the camera and the flash going through the mic. Now today I realized that the little scratch has become a crack. I havent dropped my iphone at all and i have pics to show that there is not impact signs anywhere. I was wondering if anyone else is going through the same issue. I found on the net a couple of cases similar to mine.
I have a iphone 5 and have recently dropped it. theres a crack on the screen and theres a pretty steep price difference between a screen thing and the lcd/digitizer part plus the screen thing. Whats the difference and how can i tell if i need to buy the lcd/digitizer also or not? just screen: $9.99http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replacement-Black-Front-Screen-Cover-Glass-Lens-Tools-fo r-iPhone-5-5G-VQGS116-/300858724114?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item460c93cf12 plus other stuff: #279.99http://www.directfix.com/product/IP-2594.html
Today, I got home and saw that my screen has a small crack going across it. I just got the phone 2 months ago so i still have the warranty. I was wondering if i sent it to apple to repair it, would it be free? Please help!
Hi, I have a crack in the bottom right hand corner of my iPhone 5, it is 2cm long and is now covered by a screen protector. Do you think this will get worse? Should I take it to the apple store anyway? Is it under warranty?
I have noticed a crack in the top glass panel on my iphone 5. how do I go about getting this fixed?
My iPhone 4S cracked while in my pocket. I did not bump into anything hard to where I even thought to check, but there is a crack across the screen. Would apple replace it? I bought the iPhone less than 6 months ago
The far right of my iPhone screen isn't working after I change the back of the iPhone since it was crack. Does it got to do with the change or? What should I do?
My Iphone 4 has a defective headphone jack and lock button. The lock button is stuck, there is no spring action or any feedback. The headphone will cut off while listening to media if the headphone is not in a certain position, even then a slight movement of the headphone could cut it off. It's very sensitive. I've only had this phone for 6 months and these problems both have recently started happening. I'm going to be taking it to the apple store tomorrow to see If it can be repaired or replaced under warranty. The back of this phone (NOT the screen) does have a hair line crack going across horizontally that resulted from dropping it 2 feet off the ground 5 months ago, I want to know will they still repair it even though It has a crack? Or will it be considered "accidental damage" caused from the drop that caused the crack?
My best friend was carrying my iphone 4s with no case on, and then she tripped and fell on a concrete driveway. The back is shattered, and there is a small crack on the front at the bottom. She was really upset about it and so was I. She told me she would pay for it to be fixed, but I dont want her to have to pay $200. I heard they replace the back glass for only $30, but I really want the front glass fixed too. I dont know what to do, advice please? Also, Ive only had my Iphone for about 2 months, with no apple care.
My phone works fine normally. Occasionally calls connect and neither party can hear one another but on the whole it's normally okay. I have dropped my phone a few times, once causing a small crack on the top left hand corner. The problem I'm now having is that whenever I use a headset the microphone on my phone doesn't work. To begin with I thought it was the headset but I've tried a few now and have the same problem. I tested this using the voice memo function on my phone. My voice was picked up better when holding the phone to my ear (with headset still plugged in) and was quieter when speaking into the headset. I couldn't hear myself at all when covering the mic on the bottom of the phone and speaking into the headset. I'm not sure if it's a hardware or software problem or how I can go about getting it fixed. Help please!
There's a crack in the back glass of my iphone. Anybody knows how and where to replace it from? I bought it from o2 UK on a contract and presently using in Bangladesh. If not replaceable I would like to sell it for a legitimate price. Looks as good as new and the scratch is barely traceable. It's 16 GB Black with original box and accessories.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry if this may sound extremely stupid, but I'm not very good with the whole Apple hardware, and what makes it tick. I had read something about jailbroken iPhones and hacking viruses, and just before I had read that, I had encountered someone on Tumblr (through Safari, not the Tumblr application, if there is one...I don't personally have an account, but I browse the site) who had suffered some kind of hacking virus. I panicked a little, wondering if there was a possibility the virus from their blog could effect my iPhone, and a few searches on Safari later, I then panicked about whether my iPhone could possibly be jailbroken. I'm not looking for any websites to check whether the phone is jailbroken or not, (it probably isn't), and I'm not looking to jailbreak it, but I've recieved so much help from these communities I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask this silly question. I've heard a lot about the whole loading screen (when you first turn the phone on and the apple logo with the little crease through the apple shows up) being different, etc, and a whole slew of others. Everything looks normal....the loading screen is black with the apple logo and crack/crease/curved line...whatever you wish to call it, but it won't stop me from being paranoid, haha. Could anyone help? Just how could I tell without downloading or messing with anything on my phone or computer?
i have a problem...i have an i-phone 4s.new 10 days bought,my son played and crack the display..what i should do??is bought from SUA ,i`m from Romania
Bought an iPhone 5 two days ago and found out that there was a glitch/crack between the screen and casing. I also had light leakuage at the power button. Returned it to the service provider and they tell me Apple wont replace it. Instead I´ll get a refurbished one ! Naturally this destroyed the entire good feeling I hade about the phone. According to my SP, Apple is the only company that doesnt replace faulty products and doesnt accept DOA (Dead On Arrival) ! To me this sounds like Apple is getting a bit smug and self-righteous? Maybe I get a good refurbished phone, but i doubt it cuz the company that do it have very bad reputation! Do u have the same policys were u live?
My iphone 5 front glass crack what can I do
I have the iPhone 5 for a about 1 month now and the home button is somemtimes making clicking crack noises when i tap it lightly, if i bring it to the apple store will they replace it with a new iphone?
I've had the iPhone 5 for a little over two months now and I use use for class. On Wednesday while I had it on my desk it somehow made its way to the ground, and cracked. I had the iPhone 4 and dropped it at least 50 times before it recieved any clear damage, when i dropped my 5 i was shocked to see that it broke. Is this normal for it to happen to an almost brand new iPhone 5 from a mere 3-4 feet? Not to mention it had a case on it too. And how much does Apple charge to replace this?
My front screen has a crack right down the middle of the screen. I was wondering if I wanted to can I bring in a new front screen and will u put it on? If so how much will you charge?
I have had a few problems with my new AT&T iPhone 5 6gGB and I am continuing to experience abnormalties. 1. The first iphone 5 I owned had a very serious rattle, the apple store keyboard login problem, and data leakage. I had to keep it for a few weeks because they had no replacements at the time. So I was told. Employee who should not be named, dropped the box while I was watching and said it would be okay. This was not a loose battery rattle, but the Apple store employees breaking out in dance type of rattle when shaking my phone - seriously the used it as a Maracca. It was definately confirmed that it was not the battery, the camera lens suspended by magnets, or the power button. All issues were reproducible in the store. I went through 5Gb of data in 2 weeks with this phone. Thanks for the warnings AT&T, 2. Got a new phone, had the camera issue (purple haze - didn't bother me that much since I don't take photos while staring into the sun or in direct light), got no LTE/4G signal at all when I connected to wifi. Phone would say "no signal" and there were zero bars. This is a problem. Funny thing is, when I turned off wifi; it would temporarily give me full bars and then drop back off. I could not make calls during this time. Reset, restored the phone as new, and after having no luck, returned the phone to the Apple store. I got a replacment phone after the genius bar ran diagnostics and apparently found what I found. 2. Now with this being my 3rd Iphone 5. I have done a little more research into my issues. My iphone as well as everyone i've talked too have tried and tested a theory that the phone cannot connect to LTE while on a phone call. This was also given to me in blunt language by AT&T. I was told that I shouldn't expect the phone to stay connected to LTE while on a phone call because the network and phone will not allow it. I must be mistaken, because the first iPhone I had did not take an excess of 40 seconds to perform a search for www.google.com. It was connected to LTE while using Apple maps and I was talking on the phone. Irony I know. I sent them my speed test results and I was told 0.60 mbps was normal for 4g and there were no outages. It was a little low said the rep, but still within range. This was tested a few times, with AT&T having me reset connections, restore the phone, etc before I was told that this is normal for all phones on the network. It takes me more than 30 seconds to load a map across town on LTE if i'm on the phone. This is unacceptable in my opion. I bought the phone for its capability to multitask, not be neutered by some unknown changes. Below are my recent tests while testing this theory. The results really go from bottom to top. The 22.84 mbps down is while not on a call. All results up to the 10.13 mbps and 9.12. mpbs are after I got off the phone with AT&T and reset my network settings. It took 3 resets to get LTE to reconnect in which I got the awesome, but temporary 54.61 mbps down. My average results are normally 20-30 mpbs down and around 20 mpbs up (attached below). This is all while sitting stationary in a parking lot in between 3 AT&T antenna's. I checked because the rep originally told me that they had a tower down near me. If you look closely, I got 0 upload several times and this is just "googling" google. Attempted to connect a few times to the app store and got "app store not available" message. I'm not sure what AT&T/Apple has done but I didn't really have a problem loading maps while on the phone on my iphone 4. Nor on my first -broken iphone 5. It was actually a bragging point for a while. I'm saying Apple too because this could probably be fixed with a firmware update. The results really go from bottom to top. It was actually a bragging point for a while. I'm saying Apple too because this could probably be fixed with a firmware update. This is my average speed in North Atlanta, GA on LTE The other issue I noticed was the weight. Although it's still light, it just "felt" different. They gave me a replacement phone wrapped in paper or cardboard and I immediately felt something different about the phone. I asked the Apple store salesman if something was up or if they gave me a Verizon phone and he didn't know any difference. I know the various websites lists the stats at 3.95 oz, but I got something different. My phone weighs in at 3.81 oz. I tested 4 other iphones and they were all 3.7oz. All AT&T with ghost armor and clearcoat and got that same weight. I used stamps.com postal scale and a regular postal scale that was not usb with the same results. I weighed each 3 times and didn't breathe during the test (I'm not a scientist). What is different about my phone than theirs? My phone actually feels different, but I have no idea why. Do any of you? I noticed another issue when rubbing the phone along the bottom. Where cell antenna 2 meets the unibody, there is a obvious detent in the surface. If you ran your hand along this antenna it was obvious. Even more obvious when I went to get my phone clear- coated. I'm a little nervous about not having anything protecting the phone. This made the detent more obvious because the coating guys could not fill this spot. They immediately recommended I get it checked out before getting it coated, but I told them to do it anyway. I just got the 3rd phone what else could be wrong with it I asked myself. Images below. you can stick your fingernail in this separation Sorry for the picture quality. I had to use the iPad 2 to take the pictures. The other iphone has been erased. Another issue i've noticed is that the home button seems to get stuck and makes an very audible click/crack noise when it's been sitting for a while. Other iphones make a normal clicking noise - I've also tested this with several of my friends phones. Once you've hit the button about 10 times the sound goes away, but if you let it sit for a while (few hours) the sounds and force it takes to press the button returns. Are any of you experiencing the same problem? The other problem is the phone was given to me with a scratch. I was first snippy about people complaining about scratches, but once it is seen it can't be unseen. I noticed it, but initially thought it was some crap left over from the little package they gave the phone to me in. At this point, I was getting tired and only looked for very obvious differences as I tried to restore my contacts before leaving the store. I walked away from the Apple store directly to the clear-coat guys. The clear-coat guys are good at pointing out problems, but it was 8:50 PM and the mall closed at 9PM. I was not in a mood at this point. The issue isn't that I could take the phone back, but to see if anyone has the same issues. Scratches are not that bad, but they are in a spot where I can't cover them without a case. I also have some on the top right edge of the front of the phone. I have been and always have been very careful with my iPhones. My other iphone is still coated and in a case from day one. I haven't even had the chance to put this in a case yet, but I have had it coated which can not cover these scratches. I'm trying to avoid the case right now as I like how thin the phone is without it. I will probably take it back, but not going to be a happy camper. I have tried several fixes for the "soft" issues I have. I've reset, restored, reset again, set up as new iphone, etc. Nothing really helps the problem. A bug report has been filed- might need to file again. Has anyone experienced any of these issues and what solutions have you had in regards to them? I know there are normally bugs to work out on the first release of any product, but this is slightly exhausting.
Please help! I have an iphone 4 and i dropped it a few weeks ago and the screen cracked. It was working fine other than the obvious crack. Then the other day it turned off out of nowhere and wont turn back on.It seems to be stuck in recovery mode as when i attach it to the usb it only shows the apple sign and connect to itunes sign. When I then try to restore it it says iphone cannot be restored and says iphone cannot be restored unknown error occured (21) / (23).My iphone is not jailbroken.I am using windows 7.Anyone with who has any advice it would be much appreciated!!Thanks in advance!!
If you've already managed to crack your screen, are there replacements available or will the repair take weeks similar to ordering a new one?
LIke many, I was delighted to upgrade from my lovely iPhone 4 to the new iPhone 5 last Friday. Had a few issues with the battery draining and getting red hot, but that's settled down after following some advice on here, and it's been a little beauty since. However, tonight it sat all lovely and shiny on the side while we ate dinner, then I tucked it in my dressing gown pocket and settled down on the sofa to finish updating my contacts with relationships to help Siri understand me better, and to my horror a crack has appeared right across the bottom righthand corner of the screen! It has not been dropped or knocked in any way, shape or form. It's not even been heavy handled or neglected (let's face it, it's my new baby and has probably had more care and attention than my family this week!) I have no idea how it happened, or when, and now I am desperately concerned (freaking out even) about whether Apple will replace it without charging me an extortionate fee?!?!
It looks like a scratch and I have apple care till December, it can barely be seen but it was like that when I bought it from my friend. Will they fix it for free or do I have to pay?
I dropped my iphone 4 a few months back and the top right corner of my phone screen has a crack. To add to my woes a few weeks ago my screen lock button just stopped working. Its jammed. I can't press it because it is too tight . I haven't switched off my phone in weeks now and I used the settings to change the timings to lock my phone faster.I went to the Apple store and they told me they cannot do anything about the lock button because of the crack on my screen. They would have replaced my phone for free had it not been for the crack on my screen . They said that I need to pay 140$ and they will give me a new iPhone 4.I dont think that's fair. What are my options? My 2 year contract is up with AT&T and I am now contemplating taking the Galaxy S3 as a result of my experience at the Apple store.
2 days ago my att iphone 4 ios 5.0.1 fell from my stairs. the screen didnt crack but their is a problem with the phone. i turned on the phone and it has the startup screen for a new iphone to set up, when i slide to open it says connect to itunes. my phone was jailbroken so i found a way to go to the home screen using sb settings, but when im on the home screen i cant listen to music, their is no bluetooth no wifi, and no service for my sim card. i didnt know what to do so i connected it to itunes and it said i need to restore it. i didnt let me back up my iphone so i lost all my content, updated my iphone and restored it. after this it still does the same thing, it has the startup screen for a new iphone but this time it lets me choose my country and then it says connect to iphone. and i cant get to the homescreen because my iphone isnt jailbroken anymore. also when i finished restoring my iphone itunes opened a messege saying that there is a problem with my phone. Does anyone know this problem or what i could do to try to fix it. im currently not in the states so i cant send my iphone for repair. please help:)
I have an iPhone 4s that is still covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan. I have a pretty significant crack across the screen and wanted to know if I have to pay any additional fees to replace the screen or replace the entire phone. I was hesitant to purchase this protection plan at first about $70, but the customer service agent reassured me that there were no deductables and thats why I bought into it. But now that I look around on the support site, I see that it says that there are up to two incidents covered for a service fee of $49. Did I really get duped?
