iphone 4 randomly freezes-what hardware to swap

Good Afternoon, ive recently started up my own business fixing mobile phones - mostly cracked screens and chassis replacements. Just recently i thought id got a bargain on ebay regarding an iphone 4. It was described as working correctly, can make / receive calls and send texts etc but randomly locks up. Ive got the phone today, unfortunately its locked to the 3 network so ive got a micro sim on the way so I cant actually proceed further at this point.  Although it did crash once on me when i tried to select language's etc - had to hold the home and power button down until it turned off. Ive read on the forums that this is a common fault, and can occur to any iphone - faulty or otherwise.  And the main concensus seems to be to take it back to the store for a swap. My main question is - seeing how im likely to come across this fault again - is the fault software or hardware related? If its hardware related what circuit board is likely to be the culprit?  If we could identify the problem then im sure I could just order the required part on ebay. The fact that apple havent recalled the iphone and that they will accept these faulty iphone's back and swap for new suggests to me its an easy fix - its just easier for the technicians to go in the store room and get a brand new one. Secondly ive just got another iphone 4 white - bought cheap as its totally dead.  Tried a new battery and still nothing.  Got a new dock / charging connector on the way - is it likely to be this at fault?  Doesnt seem to be any sign of water damage, and it wasnt described as this on the ebay page. When id swapped the new battery over i tried to charge the phone ( to see if id fixed it ) and it got extremely hot - so i disconnected right away and left it to cool off. Whats likely to be the issue with that one? Thanks, and hope someone can help Adam

However, the phone also has a faulty camera and lock button. Using iPhone 3GS to change Apple ID:  go to SETTINGS; then to  Itunes & App Stores, tap your old Apple ID and sign out.  When you sign out it will let you enter a new email, (Apple ID) and (I hand already changed my ID on the Apple Store but not my password) .  So I was able to use the same password.  It already had my credit card info but made me verify the security code.  Easy, just needed to know WHERE to go.

There was a wrong buy ,  an app called mobile selling platform. For  travel agents to do their flight booking thro ipad .  . This happened by mistake , as normally when u download any app it would ask for the password , but some how this time it did not and the down loaded happened . I tried stopping the down load by putting off the power button , but still did not work . Hence this situation. I tried reporting a problem thro the link in the invoice , but to no success .error is reported . I need a refund and reversal . As I have of no use of the apps . I  am no travel agent and tried calling the India office but was told that they had closed for the day . So then I posted this query on the communities to seek help in sorting this issue .....need help .

iPhone 4s Mail App using Gmail-Username or password for account incorrect

I recently changed my Gmail password for my Gmail account while on my desktop pc. Then on my iPhone 4s, I configured the Google app (for the first time) for my Gmail account. This worked fine. I went back to the default iPhone Mail app (in Settings) which was already configured with my Gmail account (and was previously working). I figured I would be prompted to change my password - which I was. But it wouldn't accept the change. So I then deleted the account and tried to set it up again. It still won't work. It continues to say the username or password for the account is incorrect.  Can you not have the same Gmail account configured in both places - the Mail app and the Google app? Thoughts?Thanks!Lori

I dropped a hard metal spoon while i was clearing up and it landed directly ontop of my iphone when it was the table and its cracked the screen.The phone still works as if no damage has happened, but its just a crack and im worried it will get worse.  I bought this phone definately less than a year ago, around christmas because i remember being served through the fast lanes, so its still under warranty. I just wanted to know how much it costs to fix it. My friend told me she took her phone back when she owned an iphone because she had cracked the screen too by dropping it. And they gave her one free, so i dont know how much it is, but when my brother went because of the speakers not working on his, they wanted him to pay £119, but that was two years ago. I doubt very much i will get a free one because it was damage caused by me, so i just want a rough idea how much it will cost to fix because im hearing two different things.  Thanks in advance

it possible to get replacement UK iPhone 5 while abroad

My iPhone 5 has a badly cracked display.  As I'm out of the UK at the moment, I took it for a Genius Bar appointment in the USA.  They told me it wasn't possible to get a replacement from them, and I would need to contact Apple in the UK to find out if I could get a replacement shipped to me. Before I spend money on expensive international phone calls, does anyone know if it's possible to do this?  Are there any other ways I can get my screen fixed or phone replaced while I'm out of the UK?

Black screen iPhone 4

I have an iPhone 4. This morning I Fell and dropped it and the back cracked. Just about 45 minutes ago, my phone was knocked out of my hand and it fell on the floor. I picked it up and it would vibrate when i would get texts but the screen was black. I had heard somewhere that holding down the home and lock button down would fix the phone if it was frozen. it didn't seem to work. But when I got home I plugged my phone into the computer just to see what would happen. i thought i saw something faint light up on the screen. it looked like a usb cord. so i took the phone into a dark room but i let a little light hit it too. At just the right angle i could see the usb cord with an arrow pointing to an iTunes sign. so I connected it to iTunes on my computer. In just the right angle, I could see that i could unlock my phone. My phone screen was really dark so i tried turning up the brightness but it didnt work. So if just the right light hits the phone i can somewhat see the screen.Out of that light it just looks like the screen is black.  I'm thinking that the screen light went out when my phone was kncked out of my hand. any help or advice?

Help With Mail iPhone 3G

Bought Mail+ from the store. It won't connect even though I have given it correct the Comcast email adddress, password and incoming domain at least 6 times. It tries to connect for 4-5 minutes and then times out and makes me reenter everything. Two requests for help from their customer service have not been answered in last 48 hours and I'm about to dump the app and move on but I paid for it so hate to give up. Any suggestions?

I bought my Iphone 5 from Apple when it was first available. I have had an ATT acount for many years along with an MSN email account. I have had issues with sending email from my IPhone 5 since I have recieved this phone. I have deleted and readded the email application numberous times(sometimes 10 times a day), I have reset my phone a number of times, I have also changed my email password a number of times and readded to both my incoming server and outgoing server passwords. I have spoken to ATT tech support, Apple Tech support and Msn tech support multiple times, they have not been able to help me. I sometimes have  gotten it to work for a few minutes to a couple of hours but as soon as I try to send an email from my phone again it will no longer send an email from my phone. I use my phone for work and this is very annoying as I have to use my email for work.I need help!  I have had Iphones since the first Iphone and Mac computers for over 10 years but I am now over it, at this point I would not recommend Iphones. I am now at the point of buying a phone that I can use and it will not be an Apple Iphone.

My family and I recently moved to Shanghai for my dad's job. We bought an unlocked iPhone 4s w/AppleCare in the U.S. and got a Chinese SIM card in China. I was riding my bike on the street and my phone fell out of my pocket and onto the road. The screen is completely cracked and the power on/off button is stuck. We're going back home for a couple months in the summer. Honestly, I don't want to have to deal with my cracked screen for another month. I'm wondering what my options are for this. Phone repalacement or phone repair? Do I have to wait to go back to the U.S. or can I go to an Apple store here and resolve it.

I had to take my phone in because the camera was broken.  I backed up the data on itunes and took the phone into the Apple store.  They gave me a new phone and said to just restore it from my latest backup.  When I select the restore point to use, itunes asks me for a password.  I didn't set a password when I backed up the old phone and iTunes doesn't accept my iTunes account password.  How can I get my new phone restored with the backup I did just prior to giving my phone to Apple?

Issues after 6.1.4 update iPhone 5

IS anyone else having issues after the 6.1.4 update? Here is what I have experienced in the last two days.  1- Unable to access a locked or secure network.  It asks for password initially.  When entered, it is unable to connect.  I restart and then go to Settings, find the network and click.  I never get a prompt for the password, just "Unable to Connect" 2-Bluetooth.    I can after a few attempts to connect my Bluetooth headphones, only after I get a "Failed attempt" a few times.  Then only music works, unable to make phone calls.  This happens with two different products.  A SENA SMH 10R and LG HBS 700.   3- Music play - I found this issue out when trying to figure out problem with Bluetooth.  I can start to play a song fine, but if I click on the ">>" or "<< "  it freaks the player out and then skips multiple songs or stops play and goes back to the playlist.  At first it was doing this with the Bluetooth headphones when using it to make selections.  So I deleted the devices and the iPhone continued to do it when selecting functions on the screen.  Some playlists did it and some don't.  Creating a new playlist did not help.  Additional Info.Apple Store replaced my iphone on Saturday 5.4.13 because if antina issues.  The issues above came after I restored from backup and updated the OS.  I have erased the phone 2 times since getting the new phone and restored from back up and rebuilt from Itunes and neither way makes a difference above. What is going ON?   Message was edited by: Karl Kroeker  Corrected Version update

My iPhone 4S which is barely a year old was smacked out of my hands  and the backglass broke, it needed a reboot (Lock and home button) everytime I accidently bumped it, even putting it in my lifeproof case, the screen went blank, I rebooted it, about a month after it cracked, it wouldn't even show the screen, I really don't want to have to go without my iPhone, and I don't want to have to buy or have to pay $100 to get it fixed. Less than two months ago, I purchased an iPhone 4S 16G, as well as a LifeProof case, which the dealer told me was superior to an Otterbox. It is touted to be waterproof, dirtproof, snow/iceproof, and shockproof. Up until today, I have been quite pleased with my case, though the screen protector does make it a bit harder to to tap the screen. Today, I had my phone in my pocket. When I bent over, it fell out and hit the ground from a height of two feet. It was completely in its case, and I had performed all the checks recommended before using the case. It fell on to carpet. When I picked it up, the case was undamaged, but the entire front of my phone was shattered. It look as though it had been hit by a bullet. The screen still worked, but it was covered with tiny shards of glass. The damage seemed focused around the ear speaker at the top of the phone. I have in the past dropped an iPod touch, sans case, face down onto tile, and the damage was about 4x less than the current damage on my phone. I immediately called Apple, who told me that the warranty did not apply to my situation (though this was not a surprise). I would have to replace my phone, refurbished for $150 or new for $200. I then called LifeProof, at which point I discovered that their warranty only covers the case. They will not refund your phone, though they offered to give me a new case. The person I spoke to told me that he used a LifeProof case, and that his screen had cracked several times while using it. He recommended going to an independent phone dealership who would repair my screen. In short, this overpriced case does almost nothing. To be fair, I have had no problems with the waterproof aspect of the case. However, it will not protect your phone from even the most minor drop that would normally not damage the phone at all. I have seen several accounts of LifeProof owners who put their phone in their pocket and pull it out cracked. This case is not worth $1, let alone $80. For emphasis, I have included some photos of what my phone looks like after the fall. Remember, this was only two feet and onto carpet while in the supposedly shock-proof case.

3G working intermittently phone overheating and apps crashing iPhone 4S

Went to apple store last week with a cracked screen on my 4S. It was out-of-warranty so they provided me with a refurb unit. Did a restore on the refurbed unit from icloud (running ios 6.1.3) and ever since then I've been having problems. The phone feels like it is overheating, the 3G only works intermittently, apps keep crashing and freezing, and the phone turns itself off at random intervals. I read online about the potential issues with exchange calendars, so I've turned off any calendars on my phone. Other than that, does anyone know how I can fix this issue? Is it hardware related, or is there something else I can do to improve performance? Thanks in advanceDan
