iPhone 4s stuck in recovery mode. Error code-1 .

I recently bought my iPhone 4s from a guy (who bought it from someone else). He sold it to me pretty cheap because when he bought it, one of his friends tried to restore it for him and it got stuck in recovery mode. I have no idea if the phone has ever been "tampered with" or not. He didn't seem to know much about it (said it was his first smartphone) and I thought I might have a chance of fixing it. I'm starting to lose faith in that...I've tried almost everything I can find. I know there are tricks for this all over the internet and I've tried almost all of them. TinyUmbrella does nothing, Redsn0w won't even install on my computer (frustrating!). Trying to restore from iTunes is useless. It gets to about 90% then comes up with error code (-1) and gives up. I've tried that route probably 20 times with no change. I know I could take it into Apple and they could look at it, but I have no information on the phone itself. I cannot get the serial number. Does anyone have any suggestions at all? I'll try anything that doesn't require me taking it to Apple and getting charged more than I paid for the phone to fix it....I run windows 7. Thanks so much!

hey! i upgraded to an iphone 5 in october 2012. ive always had the iphones and never had a problem with them before. however, this phone has decided it no longer wants to charge, at first i thought it was the usb so i brought a new one for it. but it didnt charge it either. i have tried using different sockets ive even used my dockinstation but nothing works. the phone is all up to date and shows a message stating 'this accessory is not meant for charging' , anyone else having the same problem?

IPhone 5 Auto Brightness Switch Not Working

So I just upgraded my iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5 literally yesterday. Strange lil bugs I get, but... This is just freaking me out.  The phone had NO charge whatsoever when I opened it yesterday and tried to turn it on. Usually I get an iPhone and its at almost full charge. Then the Brightness was already dimmed to almost nothing rather than being in the middle. I adjust the slider to light it up more and then hit the switch for Auto-Adjust Brightness... Nothing changed. At all. There's no brightness difference whether I have Auto-Adjust set to On or Off, and it's kinda hurting my eyes. Pleeeease tell me I didn't get sold a Refurbished iPhone 5 as a New one at the Apple Store?!

iOS 6.1.4 overheating High Battery Consumption iPhone 5

Having issues with iOS 6.1.4 heating up (in standby) and high battery consumption in standby. It's not consistant but I will, sporatically, notice my phone warming up, in my pocket, to pull it out, turn the screen on and then off again and it'll cool down.Battery consumption is also very high (worse than iOS 6.1 update issue) and is drained quickly. I've closed all active applications (but mail and calendar as I need for work) and still will occur.

My IPhone wont turn on after updating

My Iphone 4G was updating to the latest i.OS software on itunes (on my windows computer). As usual, my phone had to restart. It turned off, but as it was turning on (when the screen just shows that silver apple logo) an error message came up on itunes saying that it couldnt update the software (I forgot to get the error number). But my phone is stuck with that silver apple logo on it. My computer tells me to restore my phone, which I tried, but everytime I do that, itunes says "extracting software" and then it says "preparing to restore" then it comes up with an error message (number 2009). I have tried restarting my computer. My phone is stuck like this. What should I do? Please help!

iPhone 5-Performance drop after upgrading to IOS 6.1.4

Hi All, I just upgraded my iphone 5 to IOS 6.1.4. Afterwhich i realize the performance motion of sliding from page to page, app opening and minimizing... seems to have dropped. Did anyone experience the same effect? I wish to revert back to 6.1.3, any guide on how to achieve this without losing any data or app installed?  Appreciate any help. Thanks.

iPhone 4s Intermittent D Backlight

Problem started about 3-4 months ago. Screen will be dim at first, but pressing the power button to turn off the screen and then pressing the power button again will restore the screen to full brightness. Brightness is set to max and Auto-Brightness is off. Phone is not overheating and has never been wet.

Iphone 5 bluetooth issue

I recently upgraded from 4s to 5. I'm experiencing issues with the bluetooth transmission/receive range. When I'm running with the iphone on my arm my wireless headset quite often drops the connection. Same problem when I'm using bluetooth with My car. I can't have the phone in My pocket while driving, I must put it between My seats, otherwhise the connection drops.  Had no problem like this with My 4 or 4s, so I convinced it's something with iPhone 5. Anyone else? Is it a hardware or software issue?

My phone will not restore properly iPhone 4S

I just bought a second hand (perfect condition) iPhone 4S today, the user sold it because they had upgraded to an iPhone 5. The previous user did not restore the phone they just deleted all of their previous data (contacts, pictures, applacations, they left their 1,100 songs though), so I planned on restoring it later tonight to start fresh. I had it activated to my phone number at the Verizon store on my way to a family party and used it throughout today but put barely anything onto it knowing I would be restoring it tonight. I got home and plugged it into my laptop and went to iTunes found "Emily's iPhone" and then hit the restore button like normal, it worked perfectly fine and went the whole 14 minutes it said it had to. Then my phone went to the "connect to iTunes" screen when it was already connected. I checked to make sure everything was plugged in correctly, and it all was perfectly fine. I tried the manual reboot (holding the home and lock buttons for a few seconds) and all it does is shut off and bring me to the same "connect to iTunes screen".. someone please tell me how I can restore my phone! Thank you,    Emily

iPhone 5 on Verizon upgraded to 6.1.4 (over the air, not via iTunes) has resulted in the phone giving priority to 3G in areas where LTE is available. I am able to get LTE when I disable and enable the radoio (Airplane Mode). Unless I force this, my phone is either on WiFi or 3G.  LTE is enabled (Settings -> General -> Cellular -> Enable LTE: On).  Is anyone else experiencing this?

Find my iPhone using windows 7

I just downloaded the Find my iPhone app to my windows 7 PC.  Where did it go and how do I launch it to locate my iPhone 4?  I see the file Find iPhone 2.0.2.ipa in my Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications directory but nothing happens when I double click it.

Her husband upgraded to iphone 5 so sold his old one to my sister. My sister currently has a blackberry on contract to virgin media here in England. She took her BB along with her new iphhone to a local phone shop They cut her simcard down to size and put it into the iphone. When we turned it on we got this message 'only compatible sim cards from a support carrier....... '  I called our current contract to exdplain what we were intending to do and swap settings from a blackberry to her new iphone... they said we needed to contact the original service provider... here lies our issue.  My sister works as a nurse.. she called her collgue to explain all this and ask what network he was on. She doesnot kno and her husband isnt home for another cpl weeks he is military. My sister doesnt want to wait a few weeks to use her new phone. Is there anyway to unlock and activate this phone giving all the detials of the phone and confirmation from his wife regarding the new user ?  Ive read on the internet about jailbraking and all that nonsense.. but i dont want to damage the phone.. It isnt stolen isnt lost sureley i dont have to 'hack' into a perfectly legitimate phone to use do i?   My sister simply wants it to work with her contracted sim .. with the benifits and features iphone offers. Problems with syncing iPhone 5

I have Iphone 5 and try to sync it with my computer (windows 7 Max.). I have already installed ITunes and verified my computer in AppStore. But anyway I have problems with syncing applications. For example, I've downloaded Translator and tried to install it to Iphone. I've clicked "Sync" in window "Programs", but it goes only up to the third step from four and fails. In window rights it is shown, that this program is already installed, but when I turn off my Iphone from computer, I check and can see, that programs were not installed.My computer is also already verified, so that I can connect it with Iphone. In common settings on Iphone I have already turned on restrictions so that I can install applications. Could you tell me what should I do? I hope that someone had the same problem.

Hi everyone. Day before yesterday in the evening i was talking to my friend and once i finished my call, i hangup the call. Suddenly i realised my external speakers were not working. i havent backed up data for more than 5 weeks so i decided to update my iOS from 6.1.2. Then i connected my windows laptops with itunes 10.6 i tunes i tried updated my phone. now my iOS 6.1.4 but i cant fix that external speakers problem. It wasnt working still. My iPhone 4S can't work under 2100MHz bands frequency

I'm using iPhone 4S in Thailand.  Generally, my 4S went well under AIS (local carrier) 1800MHz but 2 weeks ago AIS has upgraded to be 2100MHz for faster network then my 4S turned locked. However, i tried putting my sim card to another 4S, it worked. I sent to an authorized dealer, they disregarded and blamed the carrier.  I bought from Apple Store in Thailand but was claimed once in Singapore.  What should i do ? Thank you in advance.

Battery life stinks iPhone 5

I upgraded from the 4 to the 5 about a 2 months ago, in the beginning I had no problem with the battery life, then about 3 days ago i would start the morning with 100% then drive to work and about an hour later my battery was completely drained.  I have spoke with the people at the 1800myiphone 3-4 times they ran a battery test, I updated the latest software, have backed up and retstored.  Still having the problem.  we checking everything that was running and did all the normal checks and balances.  Primarily is draining when I am at work and not even on the phone.  I have nothing pushing and never have.  strange that it just started in the last 3 days.  they agreed to replace it but either have to due with out my phone for 5-10 or more days or have a $695 hold put on my credit card to get a new one expressed delivered to me.  NOT HAPPY and VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!

I upgraded to the new iOS yesterday, and just before that, I backed up my phone. Now it asks for a password in order to restore my old content to my phone. I don't recall creating a password. How can I reset this password?

iPhone 5 barely charges doesn't sync

Hey all, I have an iPhone 5, obviously less than a year old, and am having a really strange problem. Two days ago, I was able to charge my phone, sync it, everything like it was normal.  Yesterday, it decided it won't charge.  When the phone is dead, and I plug it in it has the normal charging screen and will get to 5% like usual.  But then, there is no charging battery, and my phone charges SUPER slow.  For example, yesterday I plugged in my phone at 3:50pm with 1%, and when I unplugged it (never used it while charging) it was 9:15pm and 34%.  Continuing to charge it from then has resulted it up to 50% now.  When it's plugged into my computer (windows 7 Professional), I get a notification that says the USB device has malfunctioned.  So I know from this and the very slight charging that it shouldn't be the cord, there is still communication between the two.   I haven't updated my phone to the latest settings (it's on 6.0.2) and I'm struggling to try to update it now.  I also don't want to Reset all Settings due to some of my photos and videos that I need to save and I don't want those deleted.   What do I do?  How do I go about fixing this situation?  It really shouldn't be a battery since it's a decently new phone.  It's been handled great and there is no damage to it and no drops.  Help!

Hotmail Account - Configured as Exchange Both Account - Push is ON if some one send email i am not getting it. I have to manually open the Native Email client then i can see.  Restarted the IPhone Twice.  Any one facing similar issue?

3G working intermittently phone overheating and apps crashing iPhone 4S

Went to apple store last week with a cracked screen on my 4S. It was out-of-warranty so they provided me with a refurb unit. Did a restore on the refurbed unit from icloud (running ios 6.1.3) and ever since then I've been having problems. The phone feels like it is overheating, the 3G only works intermittently, apps keep crashing and freezing, and the phone turns itself off at random intervals. I read online about the potential issues with exchange calendars, so I've turned off any calendars on my phone. Other than that, does anyone know how I can fix this issue? Is it hardware related, or is there something else I can do to improve performance? Thanks in advanceDan

Okay so my sister recently upgraded to an iPhone 5 because her iPhone 4s got a bit wet and it broke the camera. She gave me the 4s but it turns out it has quite a few irritating problems:The camera flash is always on. I tried a few software fixes that had worked for other people but no joy.The camera itself doesnt work. The shutter in the app doesnt open.The dock connector needs to be put at an angle for it to charge or sync and a slight movement can cause it to disconnect.The glass on the back is a bit cracked.The speakers don't work and it looks as if it is connected to a docking station in the music app when there are no headphones connected.She had this phone for over a year so there is no warranty but I have no problem with fixing/replacing some hardware myself. Would somebody be able to help me or point me in the direction for help with these probelms? any help or tips are greatly appreciated.

My only concern about updating my iOS or Carrier Settings is that I don't want to loose Google Maps until Apple has worked on their map app and fixed most of the bugs in it.  My daughter upgraded her iOS and we have taken trips together.  Google is not as "pretty" but is much, much more accurate and easier to use (IMHO).

iPhone 4s saying 6.9 gb of camera roll usage but only 52 total photos.

I recently upgraded from a iPhone 3gs to an iPhone 4s. My previous phone had 6.9gb on the camera roll. When I did a back up on my new phone none of the photos transfered, but it is still reading as 6.9gb of used. There are only 52 total photos on my phone.  I tried erasing my iphone and restoring from backup, but that didn't work. I tried restoring a few different times hoping that maybe it'd kick the bug, but no luck.  Thank you!

HD Voice not working although supported by operator iPhone 5

I upgraded from 3GS to 5 recently.My operator supports HD Voice calling.When I tried it from my iPhone 5 to any other phone which supports HD Voice, it was just regular call.In order to test we we in the same place several persons with HD Voice devices with the same operator.Between other devices it was OK.Putting others SIM cards into my phone didn't help. What else can I check? Any indicators, settings etc.?Is it iOS 6.1.3 which is installed or device itself?Wha could be done? Thanks for asnwering.

My i-phone 4s has WIFI greyed out since installing iOS 6 i called APPLE australia and they told me i was 83 days out of warranty and i have to pay 250. this was on 24th of april man on phone then told me i might have to jailbreak

the man on the phone told me to jailbreak my iphone so i could get iOS 5 back.. but by jailbreaking a phone you lose the warranty anyway... considering this is apple's fault (iOS 6 has ruined my 4s capability to connect to wifi) ( and my girlfriend has as 4s on iOS 5 and that still connects fine ) i think they should be doing more i am a long time apple customer but i think this has made me want to swap back to being a windows user and maybe getting the samsung or HTC

My WI-FI is not working for 15 days, since I upgraded the software to 6.1.3. The buttom is grayed out.There was a huge forum over more than 210 pages about the subject but seems like Apple prefer to erase the forum because I can not access it anymore. I tried everything.1. Hi! I recently upgraded to iphone 5 with Orange and had just got myself a 24month contract but after a couple of weeks, the worst happend - I managed to drop my lovely new phone down the toilet! windows 7 crash Bluescreen when connecting Iphone 5 personal Hotspot

Hi every body!  Recently i have noticed that when i want to connect my iphone 5 personal hotspot to my laptop, the moment i plug in the USB cable while the Hotspot is already running on my phone, immidiatly windows crashes. with a bluescreen error. I switched off the hotspot and then connect to my laptop nothing happens and every thing seems normal, but turning on the hotspot is a problem. every time i need to use my personal hotspot i have to reboot my laptop and while its rebooting i connect the USB cable in order to use my personal Hotspot while its ON on the phone. Please Help!

Incoming calls will show only number even though contact in address book iPhone 5

We have an unlocked Iphone 5, numbers were brought into the device from windows live. Incoming calls from international numbers will show only the incoming caller id, but not the name, even though they are in he address book. We tried to add the "+" to beginning of the number already.

windows 7 Laptop and Iphone 4S

I have a laptop with windows 7 with current version of ITunes 11.0.2.26 and have the IPhone 4S with the current iOS 6.1.3  Itunes is seeing my IPhone, but the laptop is not seeing it properly.  Once the IPhone is connected it will charge and connect to ITunes, but windows doesn't show the device as having the proper driver.  In "Hardware" setting of the laptop, the IPhone doesn't show up so I can not make the IPhone to show up in My Computer as a hard drive device.  My reason to get this to work is to remove the videos from my phone.  I have tried to use ICloud to transfer to other devices and download, but it won't accept videos just my computers.  I need assistance to get the IPhone to show up as a hard drive, but as previously mentioned the problem lays with the laptop not having the proper driver.  I have done the following corrective measures: Uninstall and reinstalled ITunesI have held the powere and home button on the IPhone while being connected to the laptop.I have looked into registry correction, but the incorrect text is not in the registry.   Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to lose these videos because non compatibility issues. If this is going to be on going occurrence I will have to give up using Apple products. Thank you.

Phone heating iPhone 4

I bought an iPhone 4 around 5 months back. It was on iOS 6.1.2 and I upgraded it to 6.1.3. Since then my phone has been heating up very much and the battery also drains from 100% to almost 50% in around 1 hour. I would like to get a new I phone 4 only so that I use it and not burn my face.

iPhone 4S won't charge in wall charger will charge from PC USB

Suddenly, about a week ago, shortly after I upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 my iPhone 4S will no longer charge from any AC chargers, but still charges from the USB port in my laptops and work desktop.  I have 5 or 6 wall chargers both Apple and other brands it won’t charge from any of them.  They work fine charging my wife’s iPhone 4S and my iPad 2 and iPad 4.  I have seen others post about this problem but there are no fixes posted to date.

I connect iphone 4s to my acer computer and comp says usb not recognized and then itunes doesn't recognize my iphone so i can't upload stuff to it. The funny thing is that it's charging just fine. In the past with a different usb cable it worked just fine.Perhaps if I install the driver manually it will work? Where can I find it?

Problem activating iPhone 4 on new network.

Hello, I have received an iPhone 4 from a friend who has recently upgraded, he is on vodafone and I am on Giffgaff both in the UK. He has been in touch and been granted a factory unlock from his network for me, although when he originally retired the handset he did a full "as new" restore through iTunes. I cannot activate the phone with my sim as it's not the original carrier but therefore also cannot get beyond the activation of the handset in order to "apply" the factory unlock through iTunes.  Is there anyway around this problem or will I have to borrow/acquire a Vodafone sim to firstly activate and then update through iTunes? Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick altogether? Help much appreciated!

Iphone 4 IOS 6.1.3 multiple problems. need help

Dear Friends, I hope apple is looking into the posts by customers. I was browsing through the forum and found single threads of issues. I think I am facing all in one and look forward for people who are facing similar issues. I have a iphone 4 on AT&T. everything was working great till 6.0 & problems since I upgraded to 6.1. Since then it has been quite unstable. below are some of the issues I am facing... 1. Phone sometimes goes unresponsive or very slow response for some apps [ action took..cleared all apps restarted/rebooted..no use]2. The signal strength has considerably dropped from before and sometimes says no service. Before I had atleast some good signal strength near my home.3. The battery drain issue..sometimes I feel the battery on usage makes the phone go hot. 4. As soon I unplug from the power, the phone drops couple of %'s over 10 min even without usage or very slight usage.5. The worst of all..sometimes the phone access 3g even when there is WIFI..it takes sometime to realize there is wifi..but all the time I think is using 3G to start off or completely on 3g all the times. I restarted the phone couple of times but no luck. I never had this problem before 6.1.  If any one have solutions or geniuses on solving at the least the priority one's let me know.
