No sound when typing, Recieving calls or messages, App sounds (background music etc) . Although i can play music just fine, When i go into my setting > (sound) i can select the ringtones and messages and they play back... Just wont play back when i recieve phone calls or messages. (I've tried resetting everything, turning the iphone off.... Nothing made a difference) I'd be gratefull if someone could resolve this Problem
HiNoticed yesterday that my iPhone 4S thinks the headphones are plugged in, even though they're not. There's no sound from the speakers other than ringtones and alarms.Has anybody experienced this? Does anybody have a solution? Thanks in advance for any answers.
Speakers works with music, it works with headphones, it works with the ringtones in the setting mode but it does not ring when is in normal mode...Please HELP!!!!
Issues with Iphone 4 Sound - ringtones- speaker etcI have just got my iphone4 last week and it is so quiet.I can hardly hear it ring in busy places and the speaker playing music is dreadful.I do not have a case only a bumper but this does not effect it whether its on or not.Any ideas or is this a faulty batch and a O2 store visit required. Please helpR
I've had this phone since July 2012, and my mother had it since the June of 2011 before me.I'm a teenager, and can't get myself to an Apple store - not that we have one locally. Basically since about September my speakers have been playing both music and ringtones incredibly quietly - it's barely even the same level as 1 volume bar. I've tried restarting it, i've updated it and blown on all of the speaker points, tried a hairdryer and still nothing. It's on full volume limit and full volume, plays fine with headphones and through speakers. It's literally just the bottom speakers, as the ear speaker seems to be ok during calls. As far as I know I didn't drop it or spill anything on it, and I doubt it's any of my apps?I really don't want to restore it to factory settings as I have apps from various itunes accounts, some of which aren't always accessible
I used Ringtone maker and save the file but I cannot figure out how to get the new ringtone to appear in my "tones" tab. I hate this new iTunes! This version does not seem to have a ringtones under preferences and it does not allow you to drag and drop the file. HELP! I've already wasted 3 hours on this!
When I play music or listen to my ringtones, instead of the sound coming out of my loud speaker, it is coming out of the port. Shen I cover the port the sound diminishes to a crackly muffled sound. When I cover the speaker itself, it remains loud.
Hey guys I got a iPhone 4S latest ios 6.12 I think it is. Basically I bought a universal iPhone battery/speaker case and it seems to work fine for my gfs iPhone 4 but on mine it just won't use the speakers. Also it won't play normal sound apart from ringtones because it is "muted" even though it isn't. I can however get it to play music if I tap the mode button to charge the phone but only for a split second. Really baffling but I can't seem to find a similar post there all for sound not working without docks. Any help is appreciated Note: my iPhone is in mint condition no damage to speakers or anything or to the case. Thanks
My iPhone 5 suddenly lost its audio function. There is no sound from the speakers: no music, podcasts, ring, ringtones, game sounds, etc. Rings from incoming calls do not sound. Voice mail cannot be heard. When I speak to someone via the phone they hear me, but I cannot hear them while using the phone's speaker. When using the audio-out jack I DO hear sound. Also, the phone's vibrate feature works. This loss of audio occurred suddenly while I was speaking at a desk, not moving. I then checked the Apps, and I found I could not hear their audio output from the phone's speaker. I could only hear their output from the audio-out jack. I have restarted the iPhone 5 several times. I restored the software on the iPhone 5. I am using IOS version 6.1.2 (10B146). Has anyone had a similar phenomenon? Any suggestions to resolve this problem?
How do I add already purchased ring tones to my iphone 5?
How do I make custom ring tones. This is one of the few features I miss from my droid.I can't figure it out.
I jut bought an iPhone 4 with my upgrade from my 3GS and lost all my ringtones, how do I redownload them without having to purchase them again or hooking up to a computer?
Anyone else having these problems? Since the release of ios 6 I have had problems with the sound cutting out randomly for several minutes, or as long as 2 days. I really don't think this is a hardware issue because I do not use a dock and I can tell the speaker still works because it will play my ringtones but I am unable to hear keyboard clicks, txt's, and music, sound in apps, ect. And the sound slider completely dissapears In all apps except for the "sounds" tab in settings. I know my volume buttons work because you can see that in the sound tab as well. I have tried backing up to an earlier point in time as well as completely restoring as a new phone and neither methods have worked. I have also cleaned my dock connector repeatedly. It will work for about a second, just long enough to hear the unlock click, after restarting the phone, the. Goes away again. Which brings me to my next point. My phone will not turn off unless it is plugged in. If it isn't plugged in and I try to turn it on. The screen goes black for a couple seconds and then It turns back on. Now I don't want to just automatically assume that is a software glitch by apple but I don't know what else it is. If it is a software glitch apple needs to figure this crap out because I know I'm not the only one having this problem, and if it is in fact a hardware issue tell me how to fix it. I am not able to take it in to apple store because the nearest one is 3 hours away. Thanks apple and I hope we can fix this because I don't know how much longer I can handle not having sound for my alarm clock before I switch to android.
Dear all, Ever since I upgraded my iphone 4s to iOS6 (which apparently in many aspects is a bad decision), I discover my contacts are emptied from time to time. It is apparent in occasions when there are apps needing to access the contact list (with instant messenging apps like Whatsapp, Line etc, or even the Contacts App itself), and once the disappearing happens, I need to wait the contact list updates (downloads) itself with the entries from iCloud. I also believe the same happened in the background when I do not notice it, because I usually set different ringtones for certain people in my contact list, when the list goes empty and is filled again back from icloud, I will lose all ringtone settings. So I believe this irritating bug must be happening few times everyday sometimes without me noticing. I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing, and would like to see if Apple would be able to do something about it. This is annoying because if I input a new contact on my phone through the contact app, when this bug happens, I will definitely lose the newly added entries. So to be safe, now when I need to add a new contact, I have to do it on a computer, accessing icloud.com and add directly to the icloud records. It's the first problem I experienced with my iphone for the years I have used the iphone products, but is also a critically fatal one...
I woke up this morning via my alarm settings on my iPhone 5. Came back to the phone about 45 minutes later and noticed there was no sound for the lockpad, calls, alarms, notifications, ringtones, music, other apps, etc. I followed some of the of the steps I've found through through the community: - Confirmed silent button wasn't turned on- Confirmed both ringtone/sound volumes were turned up- Turned off bluetooth- Forced Reboot- Regular Shutdown/Restart- Reset All Settings (Without Content)- Disable/Enable Change with Buttons- Disabled/Enabled Vibrate on Ring/Silent When attempting to change a ringtone with "vibrate on ring" and silent button turned off the vibrate kicks in however no tone. I've seen this in the past with my 4S and it only took a forced reboot to clear it. Anyone else experiencing this issue as of 2013? I heavily rely on sounds for alarms, notifications, etc (as I'm sure everyone else does) so any word of advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I play a lot of music on my phone, for about a week or so my speaker was cutting out. Then day before yesterday it cut out again and won't work for ringtones or anything. I was wondering if I'm the only one with the problem and of I took it to the apple store would they fix it/ replace my phone for me.
Hi i have an iPhone 4S with an itermittant ongoing audio issue. The output sound from anything, ringtones, text tones, games/apps, and youtube etc (you get the gist) goes on and off on a daily basis, making the phone useless. The weird thing is, it does the same with the headphones plugged in, if i have them plugged and listen to youtube, the song/video will play for a few seconds and then audio will cut out. Once its done this, sometimes the video keeps playing in silent or will stop, the volume buttons on the side of the phone just make the speaker appear on the screen but theres no volume bar underneath, the weirdest thing of all is if i unpleg the headphones slightly then plug them back in the sound comes back on for a few seconds (or possibly a minute) before it does it again. What can this be? is it software, hardware or is there some crud touching something, ive cleaned out/blew into the holes etc to try and clear any dust. thanks ive also rebooted the phone several times.
I have had an issue since updating to OS 6.0.1. My phone does not recognize the buttons on the side that silent and make the sound work. The volume buttons are not recognized either. The phone just will not ring. It will vibrate when I have an incoming call and all of the apps that I have put on my phone after I did the update make noises, just not any that I had on previously. If I go to the ring tone section in settings I can hear and preview all of the ringtones, but the phone still will not ring. I was thinking that with last nights update to 6.1 the problem would resolve itself, but alas it has not. I am tired of missing calls and having to keep my phone on my person at all times. I have completely reset my phone to no avail, I have put it into DFU mode to no avail. I am just running out of ideas on how to fix this problem. It is an iPhone 4. Any help would be much appreciated.
I purchased ringtones I downloaded but do not know how to transfer to my ringtone
how do u put ringtones on iphone
My wife and I both just upgraded from the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5. I did a complete backup on both phones, and then did a restore to the new phones. Mine worked perfectly, but my wife is missing the ringtones she had on the 4, and some of her music. How can I get her Rintones and Music to her new phone?
How do you delete ringtones from device once the ringtones have been deleted in itunes?
I tried restoring the information from my 4 to my 4s phone but my software wasn't up-to-date so itunes would only allow me to set up my phone as a new phone at first. Nevertheless, most of the songs, both purchased and owned that happen to be on my 4, I can't get them onto my 4s because Itunes can't locate them. I've tried backing up my 4 using icloud, but when I set my 4s up, I chose back up using itunes and not icloud, Itunes also asks me for another backup password when I go to do this...and even so I don't think icloud backs up music anyway. I've since turned on the backup in advanced settings in itunes so all future music will back up to my PC. However I still have about 100 songs in total and ringtones that have been completely lost. I'm not happy as I've already bought this music.
I've recently upgraded from 3GS to iPhone 5, I have no access to a laptop at present and I need to access my apple account to download all my purchased music and ringtones that I had on my old phone, how do I do it? I have iCloud if that's any help!
I've upgraded to the iPhone 5 from Blackberry, and I have several custom mp3 ringtones I would like to assign... and can't. How do I do this in iTunes 11?
I had 3 ringtones. I wanted to add another. The 4th ringtone didn't sync. Support said to try unsyncing all and reselecting. Now I don't have any Music tones. Can you please advise?. Is this a hardware issue or user error?
I used my son's iPod Touch 2G to make custom ringtones and I sent it through my email..... I saved it to my external hard drive and try to add it to my iTunes, but it won't sync.... I try to manually add it to my iPhone 4s but no luck. HELP PLEASE. I running on iTunes 10.7 (I did not update iTunes because of all the problems people were getting). And I'm running on Windows 7
Assuming that all iPhones5 are the same from all carriers, I purchased a new phone and did an upgrade from my iPhone4 to iPhone5 without looking first what was new on the iPhone5. Since I had already had IOS 6 running on my iPhone4, what am I missing in terms of new features on the iPhone5? Everything looks the same with the exception of apple maps (which does not work well) and Siri. Any new ringtones and wallpapers?
I was lucky enough to get an iPhone 5 this AM and I'm trying to set up a song as a ringtone. I've followed the old instructions - created AAC version, changed file extension to M4R, etc. Despite this, the song doesn't appear on the list of ringtones. Is there some new trick I need to know? I'd like to have an option besides the standard ringtones preloaded on the phone. One thing I noticed - I renamed the file by adding .m4r but Windows still identifies it as an M4A file. Do I need a file conversion program to do this instead of simply renaming the file? Thanks, Chris
I updated my iPhone yesterday (simply to get rid of the reminder that was bugging me). The last time I updated the phone everything went fine, my settings, ringtones, messages photos etc all backed up perfectly. This time around all my photos are gone, my videos have disappeared, ringtones are back at factory settings and my e-mail accounts are all gone. I've also lost all my messages which is a real bummer because there were contact details in some of them. I've tried restoring the phone from iTunes and going back to a previous backup but no joy. Can anyone help? Failing that can anyone tell how best to complain to Apple??? (Would anyone give a "s h one t" anyway!) Aaaaggghhhh!
had 4s on ios 5 & just got new refurbished iphone 4s and did restore from back up but app doesnt show up on screen neither my ringtones i purchased but when i connect it to i tunes it shows phone memory is full of "others" ?!! but i dont see any of that!! it suppose to be under apps in memory capacity but it shows as other !! i want my app and ringtune back. any help? thanks
I want to use customised ringtones. Can someone tell me ho to do that?
I cannot download my purchased ringtones from itunes onto my husbands iphone.
I'm new to the iPhone, but not to iTunes. I had assumed that once I got an iPhone I could use songs from my iTunes library for ringtones. I now realize that it isn't in Apple's economic interest to allow people to do this, since it would curtail ringtone sales. But is there a way to do this? Thanks.
I just recently upgraded from an Andoid phone, to an Apple product. I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out, but this has got to be the hardest thing i've came across since upgrading... How do I take a song I purchased from iTunes and turn it into a "text tone"? Is that even possible? I've tried googling it, and i've gotten to the part where it wants you to "create an AAC version". I tried following this website = tips.salon.com/make-itunes-songs-ringtones-iphone-3342.html but I keep getting stumped on #3. If someone could possible help me, I would greatly appreciate it. And another thing, why does the alarm allow you to select a song from your itunes, but the text tones doesn't allow you to?
How do you add ringtones to iphone 5?
I have had my Iphone 5 for a little while now and today I connected it to Itunes to download a movie to my phone. I thought I had to restore the phone so I restored it back to my iphone 4. I deleted all the new ringtones I just bought and I lost all photos and notes I had on my iphone 5. Is there a way to unsync?? Is there a way to recover what I lost. I downloaded wondershare but I can't recover from an Iphone 5 and I hadn't synced the iphone 5 with itunes until today but again i restored it back to iphone 4 data.
My iPhone 4 with iOS 6.0 will not play text sounds or music from the built in speaker. It will however play ringtones. Headphone jack works as it should. What's the fix? This is the replacement iPhone I got when the Apple store replace my original phone under warranty for a defective headphone jack. So, now it's out of warranty (got new phone but not new warranty, just the remainder of the original warranty).
how?
Hi all, My Iphone does not have any sound coming out of it at all (music/apps/ringtones alert tones/keyboard clicks/calls) through the internal speaker/s or even by headphones and it seems my mic is also dead as people on the other line that call me cannot hear me too. I can hear music from my iphone through my laptops speakers when connectd to itunes via the dock. It also does not vibrate at all. Other than that I can play games, receive and send txt messages and do all the other things but very silently. It all started when I accidentally dropped my Iphone a few weeks back and my lcd screen cracked. It still had full sounds coild play music receive calls hear app sounds click etc and vibrate even though the screen was cracked. I had the lcd screen replaced the day after and everything was ok with it. It had normal sounds and vibration functions until two days later when it just stopped making any sounds at all and stopped vibrating. I plugged in headphines but still could not hear anything. I plugged the phone thru itunes on my laptop and was suprised to hear sounds coming from my laptops speakers. So obviously th dock connector works. I took it back to the technician who replaced my screen and he changed the internal speaker and mic but still no sound and I could not record on mic so its not those parts. One thing that makes me believe its a board or ic problm is that before i lost the sound and vibration on my Iphone it became very hot after a person called me 4 times until the phone rang out 2 days after I got the screen replaced. It eventually shut down 2-3 times due to overheating. The next morning the sound and vibration were gone. I've tried the dock and headphone and cleaning trick. Hard restart, reset, and all the suggestions I could find on the internet but to no avail. Has anyone come across this problems and been able to fix their Iphone/s. Thanks heaps in advance,Reg
I'm having an issue with my iPhone. I'm sure something is wrong with it. It seems like a software issue. When people call or text me I have no sound. I'm using ringtones that came with the phone. I have it somewhat figure out. Maybe someone can try it on their device as well. Make sure the mute switch is not muting te phone. Try playing a game that uses sound, lower the volume all the way down and exit the game. Now send yourself a text message and see if the phone makes a sound. Even though the said ringtone volume is at max I get no sound. The only 2 ways I got my ringtone back was to enter a game again and increase my volume or to test a ringtone in settings. Please let me know I'm not alone out here. Thank you.
My music looks like it is playing on my iphone but no sound is coming from my 4s. Also, the slider bar to adjust volume is no longer there. The ringers work, the alarms work, the ringtones work but I'm not able to listen to my music or hear sound on videos. I have restored the phone twice today, with no luck. I have also reset it several times with no luck. Can someone please help? What's going on? Thanks!
Since I upgraded my phone last week I have zero ringtones that will make a sound for incoming calls. The default does not work, none of them work. What good is a phone that does not ring???
Even when I am playing music, or unlocking my phone, typing, on apps, or calling people, listening to music (even through headphones) it doesn't work. The only time it does work is when I change the volume of my ringtone and when i choose ringtones. Can somebody please help me?
Just upgraded from Iphone 4 to Iphone 5 and updated to newest version of Itunes. When i try to sync all my music / apps / ebooks / ringtones and such it loaded 10 of my apps and then everything else it says it was not installed on Iphone because info could not be found. Doesn't make sense as it did manage to sync 10 of my 30 apps and a quarter of my purchased music from Itunes. Any help with this issue would be appreciated. I have restarted Iphone, restarted Itunes, restarted computer, reset all network settings, as well as reset all settings in general and still does not work. Please Help!!!
This thread concerns the brand new iPhone 5 running IOS 6.0 and the loss of volume button functionality with regard to controlling the Ringer and Alerts volume levels. Here are the symptoms; When the volume buttons are pressed on the home screen I see a generic speaker symbol appearring with no text (label) above it such as 'ringer' or 'headphones'. The generic speaker level indicator DOES increase and decrease as I press volume + or -.When in Settings, Sounds, and I press the volume buttons, I again get the generic speaker symbol with no text above it. Everything is the same as above in bullet 1. The intended behavior should be that the Slider, for the Ringer and Alerts area, should increase and decrease with respect to the volume button presses. It is unaffected regardless of the setting of the 'Change with Buttons' option. I have tried it Off and On, numerous times. When I manually slide the Ringer and Alerts volume slider with my finger, the ringtone and alerts volume is correctly changed. When I manually slide the Ringer and Alerts volume slider, the phone plays a 'sample' of the current ringtone at the chosen and appropriate volume level. *** At this exact moment, the Volume Buttons do actually work correctly for about 2 seconds of the sampling. After the ringtone sample/demo stops playing, the volume buttons go back to behaving as in the previous steps. If I go to the Ringtone selection area, where I get the full list of ringtones to choose from, I can select a different ringtone to use. As usual, when I select a new ringtone from the list, it plays back that ringtone for me to hear. *** At this exact moment, the Volume Buttons will correctly and successfully alter my Ringtone and Alerts volume until the ringtone playback stops. Then it goes back to the broken behavior yet again. Note: I successfully see the volume slider for ringtones and Alerts going up and down as I adjust it with the Volume Buttons until the ringtone playback stops. Is anyone else experiencing this? Apple, can you assist? Thanks,Alan
Can you use your own songs for ringtones in iPhone 4s? if so how can I do this. I have tried the GarageBand, but no luck
Does anybody know a fix to alert tones not working? As well as vibration! My ringtones work fine and when I go to turn my vibration [on] at the sound settings it vibrates fine. But when I use the switch at the top left It doesn't vibrate. And my alert tones don't make a sound and that goes for every single alert tone, I tried changing it but none make a sound. It's like my phone is on silent!! Someone please help me out, I have an iPhone 4!!
