Not Getting Voicemail Notification iPhone

I just noticed I havent been getting voicemail notifications for a couple weeks, maybe since the 3.0 update. I have to call my number to retrieve them. When I try to reset my voicemail password through the phone, it says Voicemail Unavailable. I am in a full 3G signal area. Id love to not have to do a restore as that takes forever with all the apps I have. Any ideas?Thanks,J iPhone 3G

Volume too low with phone calls iPhone

I have to use my ear buds with calls. When using the phone to make calls or receive, the volume is so low that I cant hear. I have tried to reset with the airplane mode, turned off wifi, and reset my 3Gs. Anyone have a similar problem. I had this problem with my new 3Gs so after numerous calls to Apple support, it was returned and the same thing happened with the new one. I wonder if there is an issue with my PC and syncing, maybe a virus that is causing this problem when I sync?? iPhone OS 3.0

Bricked iPhone 3G after 3.0 upgrade

Hi everyone,title says it all but here are the details:my iPhonewas not jailbreak-ed. performing upgrade form genuine 2.2.1after googling i tried to restore it via itunes doing the following:1) shut down the iPhone by pressing home + wake/sleep for ten seconds2) keep the home button pressed and attached the usb cable3) on the iPhone screen appears a message which tells me to connect the iPhone to the Mac (its already connected)4) iTunes starts and tells me that it detected an iPhone in recovery mode and i press OK5) it warns me that it would erase all my personal data and blah blah and I press OK6) the restore process goes flawlessly until..7) it finally says that in order to complete the process it would restart the iPhone and tells me to keep it attached to the USB8) after that the iPhone keeps restarting again and again (apple logo for a minute, black screen for a while and the restart again)just for the record: i tried restoring to the 3.0, 2.2.1 and 2.2 firmwares. same stuff. i tried different OS too (leopard and vista)while attached, it tries to reboot over and over again, but if i unplug the USB cable it tells me to attach it back to itunes and asks me if i want to do an emergency call.if I attach it back the iPhone just freezes until I disconnect the cable again.reading the log file during the restore process it says that the process was successful but after the restart it hangs and keeps on restaring again and again, itunes cannot detect the device and it seems that is unable to activate the phone or something. while in this condition, if i disconnect the USB cable, the phone stops rebooting itself and shows a screen where it asks me to connect the phone to itunes in order ti activate it and gives me the option of doing an emergency call.theres gotta be something I still could do and i dont believe theres no way to entirely erase the phone and reinstall everything from scratch.please help me outthanks iPhone 3G iPhone OS 3.0

SMSDatacalls dropping out fixed after airplane mode iPhone

Anyone having this issue? I had a 2G unlocked for almost a year on tmobile and never had one issue aside from loss of service. I upgraded to the 3G 3 days ago and switched to at&t and this problem persists on my second phone now. I can send/recieve texts as normal. Use the 3g data as normal. make calls as normal. But unexpectedly without warning, it will just stop working completely. I cant send texts, cant use the internet, cant make calls. And the only remedy is either turning on and off airplane mode, or restarting the phone. This happened with the first iphone i got when i started the contract, so i exchanged it for another one today, and its the same issue. So its obviously not hardware. This was happening on 3.0 with the first phone, as well as 2.2.1 on this phone (havent upgraded to 3.0 yet).Short of a sim card issue, which i highly doubt is the problem, im out of ideas. Called AT&T today and they told me to exchange the phone, they said its not a network issue, so thats why im on phone #2. Tried resetting and verifying the SMS call center number, to no avail. Its correct. Turned off location services, no change. etc Iphone 3G 8g

Iphone upgrade has crashed my Iphone and causes blue screen error on PC 3G

I just tried to upgrade my software and half way through my PC crashed. It said a blue screen error had occurred. Itunes now shows that my phone needs to be restored, but everytime I try to do my PC crashes again. This has now happened three times in 1 hour. I have Itunes v.8.0 on my pc but this hasnt been a problem till now. I am so angry that I have lost everything on my phone due to a problem like this. Stupid O2 rule on iphone 3g replacements when faulty

HII got my iPhone 3g in FEB 09. and I was having a few problems and the aol account password problem. So last week I took it in for repair.I got another iphone back which from what I can make out is a refurb.it starts with a 5 on the serial number.but the point is this iphone did not even last 24 hours. i was able to restore it after it restarted and locked up at apple boot logo. i was playing the game cops and robbers on it at the timeAther the rstore i started the reinstall of apps etc and it restarted part wa into the install. and locked up againThe day after I was able to enter recovery mode again and restored it again. but his time when it came to install apps it did a kernal panic and put up a load of text.I told 02 i wanted a brand new handset as I was not happy the one i got was faulty more than mine was. but i was told NO, 02 do not give out new ones as it was in there terms that they do not.Is it me or am I getting conned I am not willing to pay £810 for what is a secondhand phone.I keep trying to look for the terms on 02 website but it keeps saying its down.And what really stinks is I was told that if I had taken out insurance with 02 i would have got a new iPhone. I have a BIG problem with restoring my iphone 3g. The problem was when i tried to upgrade my phone from OS 2.2.1 to 3.0. Now whenever i try to restore the phone all i get is a black screen with white text in it giving possible location of the error. I am quite sure that it is kernel panic. So, to make a long story short, my wifes iPhone 3G is having some issues. We took various steps to try to resolve them, and, nothing has worked so far. Since I bought my iPhone it turns off itself. When turned off, it only turns on again when it want.Sometimes the issue does not appear for weeks, but it always returns.After I updated to 3.0 everything went great for 2 weeks but know when I lock my phone a few minutes later it turns itself off. Find My iPhone

Find My iPhone doesnt work on my iPhone. I actually had reason to use it today, but later found on my own. It seems that when I go out to MobileMe and tell MobileMe to display a message with the sound, it sends a message just fine but the sound never plays. Instead, the phone just vibrates and the message comes up on the screen. This is even when the phone is not in the silent mode. in other words, I cannot get the sound to play. Stereo Bluetooth-no support for controls and other issues iPhone 3G

I have tried 2 stereo headsets now and both have the same issue. No controls other than Vol +/- are supported. Pause/Play doesnt work and > and < dont work. Its pretty clear that the 3.0 software doesnt support these functions.One Headset is the new Sony BT100CX. The other is Insignia.Are others getting the same results?I also get some bizarre results with the Stereo Headset, like no audio in one direction on a phone call. Then when I switched to iPhone from Bluetooth and hung up, the call actually stayed open! Another time I connected to the Sony BT and got constant static.I spent a long time talking to a nice but not very knowledgeable gentleman at Apple Support who consulted an specialist. The specialist did not seem to know whether these controls are supported or not. It is bizarre that Apple is paying so little attention to bluetooth. Having waited years for decent bluetooth support, you would would think they would want to get it right when they finally put it in, but they leave out VERY valuable features. And they dont even seem to know that they left out these features. A simple pause in the iPhone in Ipod mode is a PITA. With the Bluetooth stereo profile it should be easy. All buttons (Home, sleep-wake, volume control) are not responding. The screen is blank (in sleep mode).Phone rings when called but can not recieve because the screen still remains blank. iPhone still pairs with GPS (via blue tooth) and able to make calls indirectly with GPS.Message and e-mail tones sound when received but also can not access them. I just bought a brand new iPhone 3G, and when i got home, i tried to update it, but when iTunes started to Prepare it, it said that the setup could not continue because of an unknown error. Now i cant use my iPhone because it is stuck in recovery mode, and i tried to restore it, but it keeps doing the same thing. After updating today to 3.0 on my 3G, the Bluetooth and WIFI is unavailable. When I updated, there was a problem which required me to restore. After the restore, these items became unavailable. with battery issues READ iPhone 3G

I have had non stop issues with battery life after upgrading to the 3.0 software. 2.2 was great and never had any issues. Since 3.0 my battery life would drain so fast it was really bad and using the phone as normal was just not happening. After 5 restores even using no backups and restoring as a new phone didnt work. Well I have finally solved my battery problem and you can too!I started with a full charge at 630pm and now at 1230am I am still at 85% with wifi on, fetch hourly, brightness 70%, location services on, checking rss feeds, downloaded two apps from app store, used google and watched youtube. And plenty of texts. Pretty solid if you ask me. So here is what I did.1. Go to Settings app on the iPhone > General > Scroll down to Reset and the select the top option to Reset All Settings This will reset the settings and reboot.2. Now go into your iTunes folder - Home > Library > iTunes > iPhone Software Updates. and delete the 3.0 Firm Ware from the list.3. Now plug your phone and connect to iTunes. Click restore and download a FRESH copy of the 3.0FW.4. Once downloaded DO NOT restore from a back up. Set up as a new phone an once the restore is complete, manually add your data by syncing. Again do not use a back up during this process. Just act like you are starting from scratch. (contacts, music, etc.) Please let me know how this works for you. I was about to return my 3G for a refurb because the battery life was absolutely horrible. But this works i swear!!! iPhone freezes

I have a first-gen iPhone. More than 50% of the time, the iPhone freezes after I wake it up from sleep mode (I cannot slide the bar to unlock). It does this when I wake up the iPhone manually by pressing the home button, or if it wakes up because it receives an incoming message or phone call. It will even do it when it is in Airplane mode. And it has done this on the original software and has not improved with software updates. Its not a permanent freeze; I can work around it by putting it to sleep with the top button and then waking it up with the home button. But its getting annoying because it means I cant answer 50% of my incoming calls.Any ideas? Application sync causes iTunes crash . iPhone 3G

With no particular reason when I sync iTunes would crash. No new apps or app updates. So I deleted apps off the phone, turned off app sync, etc. Still happened so I did a restore. That helped for a bit, I could at least get my music and podcasts to sync again. So I decided to download a few apps (previously purchased) and again it crashes upon sync even if I then turn off the app syncing. So another restore and all is well again.Deleted backups, removed apps. I thought it was a particular app so after restoring I will turn on JUST app syncing. No matter which apps are selected to sync, it ALWAYS crashes on the second app. So back to crashing again.Defiantly app related and I did do a quick search but no one seems to have this exact same issue.I have not restored and setup as new phone. Quickly Put in Vibrate and Silence mode iPhone

I am not clear on how to set all the sounds, vibrate modes. I am used to Blackberry.(1) How do I quickly set the iphone to just vibrate or be totally silent? It seems like the switch on the side selects Vibrate, right? But how do I quickly get it to Silence for everything while still leaving it on (Not Airplane mode).(2) How can I make it Vibrate, and still hear the key taps, but not any alerts? Landscape typing not quite iPhone 3G

As I continue to get accustomed to this new update to 3.0 I am noticing some things that could be improved. Today I viewed a voicemail and tapped the arrow to the right of it for more detials then saw there was a share contact option there. Tapped the option to share and it opened a new window for an email. I turned the iPhone so I could type the email in landscape mode and no dice. Looks like when you are sharing contact info you will have to type it the old school way.

iPhone restore screwed up my iphone cant see apps. 3G

So I restored my iPhone, and it wont show any of the apps that should have been restored from the backup. At first I thought the apps werent restored, but then when I deleted one from the itunes application list, itunes asked me to sync my iphone and it restored those apps from my iphone to itunes. So the apps must be on there, i just cant see them. i dont know what to do, i cant redownload them from itunes cause it wont let me, and restoring it wont help.UPDATE: I was using iphonebrowswer to see if i could figure anything out, and i saw that in the applications folder at the root level had the basic apps installed by apple. then if i go to User/applications, that has all of the apps i need. I still dont know how to fix it, i hope that helps you understand whats going on... 3G iPhone OS 3.0

iPhone 3G with 3.0 software stuck in Recovery

my iphone problem is this...My phone was displaying this message...Even if i had nothing connected to it.Then, it would jump back to the springboard, and not let me do anything really. then it stayed stuck in the SMS app. Finally it asked me to connect to itunes, and i had to restore. now it keeps telling me to restore even after ive wiped it and restored it. Battery didnt charge anymore eitherI took it to apple and the genius at the one of the local apple stores said i need to purchase a new one. Said there was water damage to the phone, but the water damage sensors that proves water damage is unchanged/unaffected. Also said there was rust on the dock connector. There was some kind of grime...but no rust. He then proceeded to use some tools to wipe the contacts of the dock port. as well as an xacto knife.so all in all the verdict is that i NEED to buy a new phone. no free replacements for me. The guy wasnt even really helpful. cut me off whenever i tried to explain a symptom.What can i do? Apple wants me to buy a new phone from them. But im a poor college kid...what can i do? Itunes wont connect with Iphone

My iphone recently stopped functioning and indicated I needed to connect to itunes and perform a restore. When I connect my phone to itunes it wants me to enter my passcode into my phone before it will let me connect my phone to itunes. However my phone will only allow me to make an emergency call. I cant even let it offer me the option to enter my passcode. How do I either bypass this in itunes or how do I enter my passcode when my phone is requesting me to connect to Itunes?Please help . . . Ok, so my phone froze on me while i was trying to unlock it. And when it would like slide to unlock, i rebooted my phone. iPhone Wont Turn On 3G

Hi, Im having a rather severe issue with my iPhone. I woke up this morning and it was off. I had left it off the charger and assumed the battery was just dead. When I plugged it in, the Apple logo popped up then disappeared after a while. I wasnt really paying attention to it, so I didnt notice that it hadnt finished turning on.Now that Ive begun trying to use it, it wont go past the Apple logo, at all. Ive trying doing everything. I held down the power button an the home button at the same time to try to do a restore, and that didnt work. It keeps saying iPhone iPhone could not be restored. iPhone 3G when turning it on says Searching for full minute

I recently got a new iPhone 3G from AT&T, everything is working great however there is one thing that is annoying me whenever I turn the phone on it says Searching... for about one full minute before displaying full bars and carrier AT&T sign. I had my brother do the same with his 3G and his boots up shows full bars and AT&T almost immediately. I have restored my phone twice. My phone isnt jailbroken or anything like that either.Is there something wrong with it, is there some sort of restore I am not doing? Im not sure whats up with my iPhone. iPhone 3G no longer vibrates HELP

As the title suggests, my iPhone doesnt seem to be vibrating anymore at all. Ive tried changing various settings, switching the vibrate switch on and off, restarting the phone, doing a hard reset (by holding down the home and standby buttons at the same time) and nothing has worked. I have a major problem with this because I generally keep it set on vibrate mode and without it, I cant tell if im being called or texted or anything. Does anybody know if theres a way to fix this? It only started happening today, and I havent dropped the phone or anything at all. Is this a bug with 3.0 maybe, or is my hardware physically screwed? 2.2 ghz SR MBP Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Selling my iPhone 3G for new 3GS-S Card Question

I have read a few posts about removing the sim cards, but still not completely clear on what to do.I will be selling my iPhone 3G since I ordered the 3GS. Should I remove the SIM card from the 3G? or switch them out or leave them all alone before selling? The reason I am confused, is since my new phone will be activated via iTunes and my new account will be associated with it, wont all that info be transferred onto the new one? My iphone 3G is really slooow these days... Tried the complete restore and stuff. Speeds up for a day or two then slows down again(keyboard lag at times and the messaging app takes 5secs to load!!!) Tried rebooting after... Still the same.Is it possible to downgrade back to 2.2.1? Cant wait a month for 3.0.1 to release.

My ATT 3GS phone has started consistently doing the following:After the phone has been powered off, when its restarted I get the image on the screen with the cable and iTunes logo and the message connect to iTunes. This will also happen occasionally after a period of phone inactivity.Once I connect to iTunes, briefly the message Different SIM Detected: please connect to iTunes flashes, then after about 3 seconds, it goes away and Im up and running again.This is certainly problematic since this will happen when Im away from my computer (and iTunes), rendering the phone inoperable.(The phone is a contracted ATT phone thats never been unlocked or jailbroken).I will try a restore, but am curious if this points to a problem with the SIM rather than the phone. 3.0 messed up my battery life iPhone 3G

Ok so people dont telling me to check this and that Ill explain some background info. Im in Iraq, I have had my 3G iphone since Ive been here. I keep it in Airplane mode all the time since I have a sim but not load on it, there isnt wifi here and being 3.0 just came out my BT has always been off to. Its set to a 1min lock time and the brightness is less than 50% set to auto dim.Basically its an ipod touch with a camera.Anyways I did the 3.0 update and now my battery life is screwed. Before it would last at least 3-4 days no charge, now I have to plug it in every night. I dont play any games on it and also the past week I havent had any music on it since I delete my iphone playlist i had.To be honest its only been my alarm clock for the past two week, so what ever 3.0 did it screwed up my batter life, no lie today alone it was full at 8am when i unplugged it from my notebook and it was almost dead at 11pm.Im pretty ticked about this. glass screen wobbles iPhone 3G

Hey guys, I have another problem!Im currently on my third iPhone 3g (white).When I was given my third iPhone in the Apple Store, I instantly noticed it felt different. I was pretty sure it was a refurb, I have no problem with that, but I felt that the casing wasnt on right. The camera wasnt flush to the back, it stuck out, and so did the headphone jack. I thought I could get used to that, so I just left it, but recently I noticed that the screen moves when pressed in the top left corner, and on the bottom right corner below the screen, funny marks have appeared, like chips beneath the screen. I look after my iPhone very well, I never drop it, but I get loads of problems. I was wondering whether anyone would know whether Apple would let me trade it in, to cancel this ridiculous termination fee for my O2 contract, and let me pay for a 3G S. I already have my apps copied to my computer and all my contacts etc synced with mobileMe so I dont necessarily need to restore from a back up. Ive tried to restore my phone and now at the end of everything it gives me the option to restore as a new phone or restore from BackUp.If I restore as a new phone does that Deactivate the phone and go through the whole activation process? I was a little confused about what that actually meant. Can anyone give more insight to this option? Mac OS X (10.5.7)

restore 3 times to get old apps data onto new 3GS iPhone

Just discovered I had to perform 3 restores from my existing 3G backup to get (nearly) everything across to a new 3GS. First restore transferred core phone settings, 2nd copied across the apps with no app data, the third restored the 3G app data. Whew!!Still didnt restore any iPod content, but I can copy that over easily.(Oh, to do a forced restore, right-click on the device in iTunes & select restore from Backup)Cheers,John. iPhone 3G crashed during update

I connected my iPhone to my PC, iTunes automatically started. A prompt came up and ask if I wanted to download and install 3.0 I said yes. After about three hours and my phone turning off and on several times I got frustrated with it and quit iTunes. Now when it comes up it says that my phone is in restore mode and it will not sync with iTunes. There is also an image that comes up on the phone of a USB symbol and the iTunes symbol with an arrow in between. Its trying to tell me something I just know it. I need HELP!! PC Windows XP

iTunes not recognize iPhone 3G

HiI have an iPhone 3G that Ive upgraded to 3.0 and a Mac Pro running iTunes that I upgraded to 8.2 and now iTunes totally ignores the iPhone.I have tried the rebooting of both computer and iPhone and various combinations of connecting the phone while having the wi-fi disabled and more tips I found online but nothing has worked. iTunes tells me its running the latest version of itself so I am stuck.I know that theres nothing wrong with the cable as iPhoto still finds the iPhone and is able to download the pics from it.I am hesitant to uninstall iTunes as Im scared Ill lose all playlists and other stuff (which might be a misunderstanding on my part) I hear its not a sure fix anyway so Im hoping Im not getting thrown into some Windows type gymnastics to get this to work.Any remedies you can suggest? Choose General Date Time Set Automatically MISSING since 3.0 Update iPhone 3G

Hi, Ever since the 3.0 Upgrade this menu item has been missing from my iPhone.The only options in that screen now are :24-Hour Time, Time Zone, Set Date & Time (takes you to a manual screen)This option was there before the update.
