IPhone 3G will not send text getting error sending message

I recently upgraded my IPhone 3G to 2.2 and about a week later I was getting a error sending message when sending text messages. I can receive text just fine. I have tried restoring using ITunes and even had the ATT store tech swap the SIM card with no results. HELP!!!!!!! I am very upset with ATT and Appple. Erase after 10 attempts iPhone

I was very excited to see this addition to the passcode lock menu, but has anyone actually tested this feature?My wife upgraded to an iPhone 3G after the bottom inch of the touchscreen became unresponsive (cant answer calls!). Unfortunately, this also rendered the Reset submenu of the Settings App un-clickable! Fortunately, she had the 10-attempts-wipe feature turned on, so I decided to try to use this to wipe the iPhone.The first 5 attempts were one-after-the other, but then I was required to increasing intervals of time between subsequent password attempts (5, 10, 15, 30, 60). Finally, a few hours later, I had 9 unsuccessful attempts. I typed in the 10th, expecting it to wipe, but nothing happened - it updated the error message to say 10 unsuccessful attempts, and made me wait another hours. One hour later, I tried again, and it bumped the error message to 11 unsuccessful attempts.Seems to me 11 is more than the 10 required to wipe the iPhone. So has anyone else actually tried this feature? Macbook 2.2GHz/250GB/2GB, iPhone 8GB Mac OS X (10.5.4)

Some small problems with my new 3G iPhone

Having some small problems with my new iPhone, nothing major, just annoying.1. When I plug my iPhone in to charge/sync my Adobe photoshop keeps trying to download the photos on my iPhone, which causes an error message from Adobe that it cant download and it stops all syncing and removes my iPhone from iTunes. I have to unplug and reinsert USB cable and sometimes it works ok and sometimes I have to reinsert again. Also when charging, it will disconnect, reconnect and the samething all over again, photoshop trying to get photos and an error message.2. Cant send e-mails via 3G? Only can get, have to connected to a WiFi to send e-mails, or is this normal? Dell Dimension 4600 Windows XP

Could Not Activate Cellular Data Network iPhone

I get the message could not activate cellular data network today. This just started. I have a 16gig 2G phone, but heard its happening to others with 3G in the area (east coast USA). I tried a reset network settings and complete reset, but still getting this error. Assume its an AT&T issues, but any ideas? Dual G5 and Powerbook G4 (15in.)

Getting error Sender address invalid iPhone 3G

Ive had the phone since release and everything has been working smoothly (and I am happy our area finally got the 3G network!), until I got a new email address. I can receive my email fine on the phone, but when I go to reply and hit send, it tells me Sender Address Invalid. Does anyone know how to resolve this? Or because of my domain name, which is a Qwest email address (ends in @q.com) does Apple not like this? Any help would be great. Thanks! 3G

Photo Problem iPhone 3G

hi,I havent had my Iphone long (since chirstmas) so when i connected my iphone today and allowed it to auto sync a box popped up to say that i can sync my Iphone taken photos with my laptop. I wasnt expecting this as so didnt pay a huge amount of attention to what i was doing, to the best of my memory, i allowed it to continue using the scan for photos option or something similar, which i assumed was an Apple app. as i hadnt seen it, and checked the box to always use this option and to not asked me again, i then click next.At this point my laptop and Iphone went into a rhythmic beeping boobing contest before Itune became None Responsive and i had to shut it down using task manager.I tried again and this time i got a message saying ...scan unsuccessful...check device is connected properly before the contest kicked off again and i had to repeat the process. Now i only get musical notes when i connect the 2. Itunes works my Iphone 3G works but they wont sync. This is the most reccent error message i get, unfortunately i wasnt clever enough to get pics of other messages becuase it happend so fast. I just bought an iphone and as per standard procedure, i connected to itune to activate. i get an error saying itune canno connect to itune store, your network was reset i dont think its internet problem because i can access all other sites including apple. i can also loging to apple site on the internet but i cannot do that in itunes.as a result, my iphone is still not active. any suggestions? error Sending Message iPhone

This popped up almost a week ago now - last Friday. I compose a text, tap send and it gives me the little progress bar, moves as if its going to send, and then stops about 1/8th to 1/6th of the way and I get a little message where it usually says sending that says error Sending MessageAll my googling has come up with people experiencing this on jailbroken iPhones or when they have a momentary drop in service (at which point they just hit send again). But I can receive texts just fine. All other operations on the phone are fine - sending/receiving emails, placing/receiving phone calls, etc.There was some mention of a possibly incorrect SMS Service Center Number...? I realize this isnt an AT&T forum, but Im hoping someone out there can help.At the Genius Bar, they said they thought it was an AT&T issue. I went to the AT&T store, where they called the iPhone troubleshooting hotline. The iPhone Troubleshooting guy didnt know what was going on, and suggested swapping to a new SIM card. So, we tried a new SIM card and we tried someone elses SIM card in my iPhone....still nada.Which makes me think its software...? I just restored back to just before Haloween....but the software is still 2.2 - should I downgrade to 2.1?thanks in advance Macbook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Belkin hub 3 iPhone restores in 2 weeks 3G

I dont know what has changed in the past month, perhaps something in 10.5.6, but if I have my iPhone 3G plugged in through my Belkin 7 port USB hubs (one at home, one at work) Ive irregularly ended up with my phone in a corrupt state that requires I restore. The phone works great, has all apps, but has no music and iTunes throws up an error every time it connects, even connecting directly, stating I need to restore the phone so I can no longer sync.It doesnt seem to appear if Im directly connected to my AlMacBook. Needless to say, Im not all that happy with my Belkin hub, but AFAIK there arent higher-quality hubs out there and Im not in the mood to buy a bunch of hubs only to end up with more lemons (Apple, business opportunity! How about 5v isolated power to each USB port? Something Ive not seen yet on a hub. Microsoft Word Document Viewing iPhone

Hi, (Newbie)I have purchased 5 Iphones for my business. We can not open a word document with the extension .doc on ANY of the Iphones we have purchased?We have the latest OS upgrades on all phones yet we get the message error opening file type or it is password protected. These are the new 3G Iphones.The issue is from using email within Microsoft Exchange enviroment and it shows up on the email as word.doc ?We tap it to open and no joy. (you can not save the document either and this is an issue also)I have rang Apple directly and they state this IS an issue? We have bought these phones after reading you can view word, excel etc on the Apple web site and this is all we wish to do. Does anyone know of an application for this very basic thing most handsets do in the business community or do i just send them all back.I am extremley dissapointed that there are so many basic functions missing like MMS, and the support for documents.This is pushed as a state of the art phone with the most advanced OS out there yet there seems to be a lot of basic functionality that has been missed in favour for other, and i must admit, very good features.It seems a shame to send these back for such a basic issue but we are engineers on the road and we get emailed our sheets from various customers and can not expect them to change there databases for us to meet the Iphone missing features.We will have to go back to Blackberry if this can not be resolved.Many thanks in advance for any advice on solving this issue. Restoring iphone 3G

When i plugged my iphone into the computer, it said that it was in restore mode and that i needed to restore it by using itunes. I did exactly that and it stops halfway through the restoring and says an error has occured and wont go any further. So now i cannot use my iphone at all.Is it the computer thats stopping it or the actual iphone??How do i fix it?

Well, about a month ago a screen showed up on my iphone saying something about iphone needs repair and emergency calls only. I then tried to restore it and everything (as directed by apple help) and it did not work. Now the screen displays the image of the USB cord with an arrow towards the itunes icon. Every time I try to restore it it gets stuck in....RESTORING IPHONE FIRMWAREThen an error MESSAGE pops up usually # 1002. I tried to send it in not knowing the policy on no warranty coverage with a cracked screen (the screen cracked about 6 months before I started having any problem whatsoever). Does anyone know how to get past restoring iphone firmware or have the same problem?Also, is there any chance if I go into a store that I would have a chance getting a replacement with the cracked screen? My iPhone, which I have had for less than a month, has been popping up a Call Failed error every other phone call. Normally I would blame AT&T for poor coverage but it drops calls when it is on speakerphone sitting on the nightstand, well it happens enough to irritate me but not enough cry over, so moving on. Earlier today my iPhone had a message saying; Unable to make or receive calls. HELP iPhone randomly reset and now it wont detect S card 3G

Ok so heres what I was doing when this all happened.I had called the Linksys support for a new router I just bought that wasnt working right. After waiting about 8 mins I was connected to a gentlmen in India, we worked on my problem for about 10mins or so and then all of sudden my phone just reset, or at least went to the apple logo and just sat there.then after 30 seconds it started ringing (before it fully restarted) and it was the tech gentlemen call me back. So I slide the thing to answer and the screen froze with the slider on the right but not unlocked but I could see the time and my back ground, just no buttons and I could still hear him and talk to him.After we fix my problem with the router he hung up, but my phone was still froze and then it started ringing (a friend had tried to call me before it reset while I was on the phone so I assume it was him again). I couldnt answer and it just kept ringing and ringing so I held the wake button and slide the red slider to shut it off.Left it off for 30 seconds or so then press and held it again to turn it on. Now it says restore need, connect to itunes!ok, so I did and after wait about 30sec to a minute after connecting it to itunes it comes up with this error:iTunes cannot activate your iPhone because the SIM card is not inserted or a SIM PIN is required. Disconnect your iPhone, make sure the SIM card is inserted correctly and, if you use a SIM PIN, tap Unlock to enter it, and then reconnect your iPhone.What the heck?! Ive had it randomly reset once before about a month and a half ago and which point I did have to restore, and it did and it worked fine after that.The SIM card IS in there, and I have no idea what my SIM PIN would be, nor do I see the option for it they speak of! And this happened about 9:30pm, well after any Apple or AT&T stores are closed! I even turned off the phone, took the SIM card out and put it back and it still did the same thing!What would cause this to randomly just mess-up like this? I loved this phone when I got it but now that this is the 2nd time this has happened and much worse Im pretty ticked about it. And its not like I hacked it or unlocked it or whatever that is even called, the only things Ive put on my iphone are music, pictures, and programs I all got thru itunes!PLEASE HELP! Last night, I received a text message from a regular correspondent but, when I tried to reply, I got an error in sending. Up until then, I have never had a problem reply to this persons messages. Subsequently, I have tried to send text messages of my own to no avail. There doesnt appear to be a problem with my settings. I do not have a question, rather, Im hoping to save someone else time and headache.When I first purchased my phone about a month ago, I used it extensively for the first day or two and personalized the settings to my tastes.However, on the 2nd night I owned it, I downloaded iTunes and plugged it into my computer. My recollection is a bit fuzzy, but I believe it told me my phone had an update. I chose the update option, and I received several error messages telling me I needed to do a restore. I chose the restore option, and received an error 6 message. My phone would not restore. I was stuck with the image of the white USB cord and iTunes on my phone screen.The next morning, I took the computer into work and tried it on my newer computer at the office. This computer has USB 2.0. Im not sure if my older USB at home had to do with the issue, though. I do receive a notification message at home, though, that warns me that the device will operate faster with the USB 2.0.I did a ton of research on the internet, and found MANY with this issue. However, the information that was given to fix this error was limited, and few users have had success fixing this problem.In any event, system restore worked at the office and my phone was set back to my original settings (with 4 years of contacts gone forever). I had not backed my phone up yet, as the error occured before I had a chance to figure out iTunes & the iPhone 3G.Now, Ive had the phone operating without issue for approximately a month. Last night, while my phone was plugged into iTunes, I received a message asking if I wanted to restore the phone. I hit Cancel. I was back with the screen as referenced above with the USB. Im not too sure what happened to cause this. (I was finishing my second glass of wine)So, I did some more research and found this page: http://www.technipages.com/iphone-error-6.htmlI did this, AND IT WORKED! In the forums though, I have found no reference to this fix.Thankfully, this time, I had a backup on iTunes and didnt lose any information.I really wonder if Apple computer users experience this issue, or if this is exclusively Windows users. At this point, I blame Windows.(Im a bit bitter towards Windows at this point. Ive had computer trouble for 2 weeks at work, which ended up in me missing a non-refundable vacation due to several deadlines which I could not focus on.My experience with this iPhone (other than the issue referenced above) has been amazing. Its so simplistic in operation, as opposed to my Samsung Blackjack that required going through multiple folders and useless steps. However, switching to a Mac for my home computer just isnt effective at the moment. I have a computer that was given to me at no cost, has TONS of space, and has had no issues with the exception of my experience with this new phone.)In any event, I hope that if someone else has this issue and plugs the same search terms I did, they will find this information and it will be effective.This has been a very frustrating experience as it is so easy to become dependent on this very functional device.Best of luck to future users with error 6 after a forced phone restore in iTunes. They troubleshooter it for 30 minutes and sent me to the nearby AT&T store. 20 minutes later the employee had found a solution! This simple solution relieved me of so many hours of problems. 2.2 update problems--learn from my mistake iPhone 3G

Im posting as a warning to others. Do not attempt to sync and update your iPhone with any other cable except the direct usb cable that came with the phone. Ive been using a seidio usb phone dock connected directly to my MacBook and was lulled into a false sense of security. After syncing and backing up over this dock, I attempted to update to 2.2. During the update, I got the phone could not be updated due to an error warning followed by a negative number (did not write this down). I then grabbed an iPhone usb cable and started the restore. The restore to factory defaults went fine, but then it appeared that iTunes could not restore my phone from the backup. The sync arrow icon in iTunes would keep spinning, but the progress bar at the top of the iTunes window was not displaying any info and the phone no longer said syncing on the screen. I continued to wait and then noticed that the sync became live again and things started to progress in the iTunes progress bar and the phone said it was syncing once more. This behavior cycled back and forth two more times before the phone back up was restored. I have no idea what causes this behavior, but thought I would post the experience so others dont panic if they see similar behavior.If you are considering purchasing an iPhone dock not made by Apple, dont bother. This really is a shame since almost everyone uses an external case for their phone, thus making the form factor of the Apple iPhone 3G dock useless in many cases. Ill end this with a question. Is there any chance someone can come up with an app that can back up all app locations on the iPhone so one does not have to re-position things after a factory restore and back up?

Itunes installation I can not put my credit card number iPhone

Hi, people.I have installed Itunes 8 a couple weeks ago. After installing, I had to register a itunes account. But the credit card installation screen was with problem. When I have put the credit card information I have recipt error in the security code. I coudn´t cancel the screen because the buttons didn´t work. I believe the account information is not complete. MobileMe and Windows iPhone

I am using the MobileMe trial right now. I was in a meeting the other day where my laptop did not have network access (only secured networks available). MobileMe kept trying to sync, putting an error message up on my screen in the middle of my presentation. iPhone on PC XP constantly disconnects and reconnects while syncing 3G

My iphone has been great, but just yesterday, I tried to sync it for the first time in a while... You know the sound that Windows makes when a new USB device is plugged in, and the other sound it makes when a USB device is removed? Well, my phone would start to sync, and then start doing random disconnects and reconnects.. iTunes reports Unable to sync with iPhone Invalid response recieved or something like that, and sometimes has a sync error, but I dont think its really getting started....My first thought was that its a bad cable or USB port, but I tried 2 ports and 3 cables, and its not that...Has anyone else heard of this? What can be done? If I uninstall iTunes and reinstall, will I lose anything/everything? Will the new install find my same music?-Steve Windows Windows XP Pro

I have a first gen iPhone (8gb) and was updating it to 2.2 when iTunes gave me an error message. So my iPhone disappeared from the side bar but my iPhone still was trying to update so i left it for a few hours and when I came back the iPhone was still at the same place. It has never been jailbroken. I would like to know if theres a way to fix it myself. I dont live near a genius bar the closest one is about 400 miles away. MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Problem forwarding calls to an extension iPhone

Im trying to forward calls to my office phone which has an extension number. But when I add a number (main phone number, a pause, and then my extension) to forward to, my iPhone gives me an error message and wont save the number with a pause and extension number. Does anyone know how to fix this? MacBook 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.5)

Contact orginally set up without area code not it wont text iPhone

I originally entered a contacts mobile without the area code and text wouldnt be send without it. Ive since deleted the contact and added her back with the area code - but when I try to text her I get an error message with only the 7-digit number showing and it says I need to use all 10 digits. How can I fully erase the contact to get it to recognize the area code? HP Windows 2000

Replacement iPhone 3G and IMEI and out-of-system text messaging failure

I wont mention how many phones I have had swapped by Apple, but the IMEI (Settings >General >About) have never been changed in the AT&T system without my personal contact with AT&T.Recently, my daughter - using a Sprint phone, has sent me several text messages that I did not receive. Saturday, we were all having lunch together, and I had my daughter send me a text message, which I did not receive; and she sent one to my son (iPhone 3G on AT&T) and he did get the message. My son sent me a text message, which I did receive.I later phoned AT&T, verified the IMEI in their system was different, and asked that it be changed to match the one on my iPhone. The customer support person tried to change it, but the system gave her an error message. She tried to pass me up to the AT&T iPhone gurus, but apparently talked with a less than competent technician, as he told her to refer me to the Apple 800 number.Knowing I would not win an argument that only AT&T can make that change, I waited until today, called Apple who (of course) brought AT&T into the call, at which point the problem was quickly resolved (that is, the correct IMEI entry was entered in the AT&T system). The AT&T Genius even had a Sprint phone and made sure that the text message worked from her Sprint (it did).I am NOT a cell phone engineer or technician, but I do know that the IMEI is less important on the iPhone than on most other phones. Hi!When I was updating my iPhone to 2.2 I received an error message (unkown reason 1602) I reinstalled iTunes (which was already the latest version). Everything worked out wel and my iPhone was working again. The only thing that went wrong is that my pictures, apps and music are gone. I tried to restore the latest backup (before updating my iPhone) but that didnt work.Is there a way to recover these files? error Message iPhone cannot be synced not enough access privileges

I have a dual boot WinXP Pro & Vista Ultimate laptop (ThinkPad X60) on separate HDDs. Have loaded iTunes 8.02 on both drives in both OSs. No problem synching my iPhone in iTunes in WinXP. However, in Vista, I can back up, but cannot synch, the iPhone (which is a 3G, acquired in August 2008, and it has Software 2.2). This message repeatedly appears: The iPhone name of phone cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation. Have used Windows Explorer, gone to the iTunes folder in Users, and taken ownership of it and installed full control, but that hasnt helped. Have reinstalled iTunes. That hasnt helped.
