Okay, so I recently got my iPhone and I didn't own a laptop at the time so I synced it to my boyfriend's laptop. Now that I have my own laptop I want to sync my iPhone to it.
But it tells me that everything is going to be deleted off of it. I don't care much about the music but I'm concered about my contacts, and my texts and I just want to know what will get deleted and what won't and what the best way to go about this is. Thanks!
Follow the steps in this guide: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141. If you aren't syncing your contacts with a supported program on your computer (such as Outlook or mac Address Book), you can skip step 2; just be sure to uncheck sync contacts and sync calendars on the Info tab of your sync settings prior to syncing your phone in step 9.
I mostly just want to know if my messages get deleted or do they stay on the phone? It's what I mostly care about.
Your messages should be fine as only iTunes media is deleted and replaced by the new iTunes library being synced to. But to be safe I recommend you follow the steps listed in the linked article.
