Speaker quit working. iPhone 4S

Checked the mute switch? Volume?

If neither of those, Restore it in iTunes from your backup.

volume button is on.. volume is up and checked all settings... external speaker will not work on anything.. was hoping not to restore but looks like I have to..  any other ideas??

Check your headphone jack and make sure it is clean and there are no obstructions. If it is dirty give it a blast of compressed air.

headphone jack works fine and can hear call with phone up to ear but if you put it on speaker it doesnt work.. text messages only vibrate  no external sounds at all.. resored it and still no go.. any ideas.. :-(

Yes, I'm aware headphones are working, but if there is debris in the jack it does not release when you take the jack out and the speaker doesn't work. But if it is clean you will need to Restore it.
