Hello,
I just bought a brand new iPhone 4s through the AT&T website a few days ago. As soon as I received it, I downloaded the "Find my iPhone" app in case it ever gets lost or stolen. That app is from Apple and you can track it through iCloud using your computer and apple ID..so I thought only I was able to track it.. but I received a remote message from someone saying they want their iphone back and that they will call the police. The second message I got, revealed the street that I was on and a warning that the police were on their way. This really freaked me out and I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone? Did my account get hacked? I will change my e-mail and password just to be on the safe side..
Well, most likely it wasn't brand new. Or your account was hacked. If it was it means you didn't have a particularly good password. So first thing to do is to change your password to a really secure one.
Also, why did you download the "Find my iPhone" app? Find my iPhone is built into the phone; the app is so you can user your phone to find a DIFFERENT lost iPhone.

Thanks for your reply.. well I bought it online supposedly brand new from AT&T so unless they sold me a stolen phone..I think it was brand new. I just changed my password too. The app didn't come with the iphone so I had to download it from the app store...and you can use it to track your own phone from icloud.com.

#1. Yes. Your Apple ID has been compromised. Change the password immediately. NOT necessarily your e-mail address. It may have been compromised as well, but it's your iCloud account that's been hacked.
#2. Downloading and installing the app does not allow you to track the device. Activating the Find my iPhone service (usually done when you set up your phone) does. The app is used to track a device, not to allow a device to be tracked. I hope that made sense...
