SMS Preview change on 2.2 iPhone 3G

I am now getting the Senders name - New Text message
I dont like that, I prefer my privacy.
I prefered the 2.1 New Text message alert.
Its like a step back from what we had

Same here. I also liked it better before. Isnt there a hidden setting somewhere that we missed? I didnt find it...

Actually it was like this in 2.0 (you see senders name, not the content) and in 2.1 the names was not displayed at all.
A lot of people didnt like the senders name showing, but there equally a lot of other people who prefer to see who is the sender without having to display the content of the text msg. This way, we dont have to actually open the text if we were not expecting certain senders msg.
Apple should have included an option to toggle this on or off, depending on user preference.

Yes, I noticed it too! I was really hoping that 2.2 would bring the option to turn off SMS preview with out the passcode lock. I think the 2.2 change is a backwards step in SMS privacy. I dont want people to see who is texting me never the less what they are saying. Maybe someday Apple will simply set SMS preview name and SMS preview message as a option in the settings.

There should be a way to turn the preview totally off, and at least keep it like it was with 2.1. This should be an option, and shouldnt be too difficult to program....
