Smart Playlists not working on iPhone after iOS5 update

Smart Playlists seem to be a black art.

I have been using Smart Playlists to manage my unplayed podcasts for a number of iOS releases.  Almost every new iOS update forces me to have to change my playlist conditions.  Oddly enough, moving from iOS 4.3.5 to iOS 5.0 has ot forced me to have to re-visit my Smart Playlists.

Perhaps if you provide us with a list of the conditions for your playlist we can help you with it.

Right, well my settings for it look like this:

(Date Modified > is in the last > 2 > days)

It's not as if they are very complicated conditions, so I can't understand what would be wrong. Normally if a playlist had no songs in it, it wouldn't sync right? But this is what the playlist looks like on my iPhone, even though it does contain songs:

OMG i have actually the same problem! it's freaking me out!!!
