Ridiculous lack of service for iPhone in Canada

I loved my iPhone, but Im switching to a Blackberry after I dropped my phone from waist height(my fiance saw a young man do that on the street today and texted me so I wouldnt feel so bad)and shattered the screen. I was told that I couldnt get service but had to replace the phone (which is otherwise in working condition) for $350 and when I talked to Customer Service the young man was quite insolent. After hed been quite contrary and insulted my intelligence several times I asked him if he had a suggestion for a remedy that would satisfy an average customer and his answer was, Dont drop your phone. Honestly, I would have expected better from Apple. They dont even offer an extended warranty in Canada. I guess Im going to have to move over to Blackberry, which is tougher, has better service and is Canadian, to boot. Apple had better watch their backs. I hear the new Blackberry touch is aka the iPhone Killer! Having said that, I wouldnt have even THOUGHT about switching to Blackberry without the ridiculous lack of service to my iPhone.
