Retrieve deleted NOTES iPhone 3G

If you don't have a backup for your iPhone on your computer with iTunes and your iPhone is not backed up over the air with your iCloud account, there is no way to retrieve them.

How can I back up on the icloud? It is on continous sync therefore any change on the iphone, changes straight away on the icloud. Any suggestions how toavoid this happening again - when to sync and when to back up - and avoid loosing important files/notes/contacts from the iphone?

With the backup (which is not related to syncing), there are two options. The backup can be stored locally on your computer's hard drive which is updated as the first step during the iTunes sync process, or the backup can be updated over the air with your iCloud account.

The backup includes notes. If your iPhone's backup has not been updated since the notes were deleted, you can restore your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup.

This is very clear and thank you. I have only used the the icloud, how/where can i check the back up on the icloud? And one more question, to avoid unwanted changes/deletions in the future, what is advisable, to back up on itunes or icloud (and for the latter, how is it done) - i remember in the past, an apple store agent was saying is better to keep one of the 2 and preferably the icloud.
