Apparently I need to restore my 4S to factory settings to try to get the camera to work again.
When I sync my iphone to my laptop, then restore it to factory settings, I am wondering the following:
1) When I want to put the data BACK ONTO my iphone, will my calendar be intact?
2) Will my phone numbers remain intact?
3) Regarding the apps I have: will all I be required to do to put them back onto my iphone is download them again? I don't have many apps but don't want to lose the data I have within those apps.
4) If the restore thing fails to fix my camera issue, at this point I need to take it to an iphone store to see if it'll be replaced? It's still under warranty. I'm surprised Apple hasn't sent out a fix for this camera issue.
I am computer/iphone illiterate, if you can't tell... but I'm learning. Any help/advice is appreciated.
If you restore to factory settings, you do not put the data back, that would defeat the purpose of restoring to factory settings.
You can sync your content back after restoring.
If your calendar and contacts are maintained on your computer or a cloud service, then they will still be there when you restore the device as new, simply set them up to sync to the device again.
All apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer, syncing them back to the device after the restore will put them all back along with their data.
As for item 4, you're making the assumption that the issue is software related. IF that were the case, there would be thousands if not millions of postings about the camera, there simply are not. The most likely issue is that your device either has a settings glitch (which the restore will correct) or a hardware issue which will require a replacment device.
