restoring 3.1.2 os on 3G iphone

Hey everyone, I need some help. I have a 3G 8g that I want to give to my girlfriend. I wiped it but unfortunately upgraded to os 3.1.3. Now I cant unlock it so she can use it on tmobile, which has better service at her location. I DO have a backup on itunes for this phone. If I restore to that backup, will it restore the os to 3.1.2? If not, any other suggestions? I promise Im not trying to sell it. I just want her to use it on tmobile. Thanks in advance for advise I can get.

Jailbreak the phone using Spirit and install Fuzzyband from Cydia. If you have the correct bootloader you will be able to downgrade it and this will do it for you. If you don't (if it is a newer 3g iPhone) it will tell you it can't be done.

I had the same issue, all I did was download redsnow 0.9.4, the 3.1.2 restore ipsw and the 39 and 46 bootloader and thats it real simple and just youtube redsnow unlocking and jailbreaking and it will be as easy as pie, my phone works again and im so happy, and i still have the 3.1.3 software
