Receiving text messages using Ford Sync Bluetooth iPhone 4S

I just switched from a Blackberry device to an iPhone 4s. I drive a Ford product with Sync Technology. My Blackberry device could read incoming text messages using the Bluetooth connection in my vehicle. It appears that the iPhone does not provide this function. Does anyone have any information on this subject? Thanks
