This may be obvious, but not to me, so thought I would ask.
On the Apple site, it talks about the new messages features in 3.0 (Send messages with text, video, photos, audio, locations, and contact information. You can even forward one or more messages to others)but underneath all that it says MMS support from AT&T coming in late summer. Does that mean no MMS till late summer, or just no support as in tech support till then?

I believe this means no MMS exchange via AT&T with an iPhone 3G or with an iPhone 3GS until late summer.

Thank you. According to MacWorld (am I allowed to say that?):
Unfortunately, it appears that iPhone users in the United States will be waiting longer for MMS than some other areas. Forstall noted that while iPhone OS 3.0 is capable of MMS, it requires carrier support to implement. Twenty-nine carriers in 76 countries will support MMS at the time of iPhone 3.0’s launch, according to Forstall. AT&T, Apple’s U.S. carrier partner, isn’t among them, at least not initially. AT&T will be ready to support MMS “later this summer,” according to Forstall. That news elicited boos from the crowd.
Sigh.

I was following the blog and MMS will supported for the iPhone on AT&T. I would assume that it (MMS) would be available on the date that it (iPhone 3GS) is released.
One weird note is that neither AT&T nor Apple offer any prices for the MMS add on. They show the same voice plans, data plans, and unlimited TEXT plans. The SMS plans make no reference to MMS messaging. I have a feeling AT&T is going to be slippery and the MMS is either going to be pay as you go or an additional fee (Im thinking an additional $10 a month). Which means $39.99 voice + $30 data + $20 unlimited text + $ MMS = $100 a month plus taxes for AT&T below par network.
AT&T definitely needs to adjust their pricing on these plans or other carriers need to step up their game and get competitive pricing plans and the iPhone.
Having an iPhone on AT&T is like driving a Ferrari during a traffic jam.

AT&Ts current text or messaging plans include MMS. The same plans are available for the iPhone.

Thanks for posting that. What is weird is that presumably AT&T supports MMS on other phones....is it not coming for the iPhone because the load would cripple the network? (Not seeing how that would be different to emailing pictures tho)
