Problem with iMessage iPhone 4

Hi, I only get 500MB of internet on my allowance and sometimes I run out for a few days.

My problem is that when my internet runs out, I turn my iMessage off, but when people are texting me, it still appears as an iMessage on their phone, and says its delivered - but I never receive the messages.

I have tried turning my phone on and off, too.

A better solution would be turning off Cellular data which forces iMessage off.

The sender should then get a message that delivery failed or it should (depending on the senders settings) automatically send via SMS.
