Maybe check whether you are covering the microphone (on the bottom of the phone, grill on the left) when your on the phone, something I sometimes do with my little finger! If not could be a fault with the software, try restoring to factory settings and reloading which is easily done if you have an iCloud account (remember to do a final back up before you restore it!)
How do i do the factory reset? I got told by tesco mobile to do a reset thing by holding the power button as well as the home button and that didn't work?
Go to Settings, General, down to the bottom - reset then erase all content and settings.
Holding the power and home buttons just cuts the power, as an emergency switch off incase it freezes etc.
Thank you! Will this lose all my texts and pictures etc if i restore it? Or will they be saved on icloud and go back on?
Dont do that yet. Try your Sim in a different phone FIRST. prior to wasting your time solving the issue on your iPhone. This will tell you if its a mic issue or your connection to your providers tower. Since you can record fine its probably not the mic and its just a connection established with the cell network.
Powering off the phone as well at least once a week will ensure you have a good connection.
I used to Work with T-mobile for years and I've seen some crazy stuff.
I will have to try that tomorrow because I dont have another phone here that takes a micro sim. Would i have to just make a call on another phone with my sim?
Everything else works, sending texts etc its just calling, its a pain because i pay for all this data and cant use it!
