Outstanding Customer Service from APPLE Store in UK iPhone 3G

I had great customer service from APPLE store, here in Belfast, Northern Ireland, that i thought you should know about.
My iphone 3g 16g was 15 months old, i always updated my software via ITUNES. All previous updates and new firmware i never had an issue with, that is
until the new 3.1.2 version. After installing, my wifi would not work, it was grayed out as if it has been removed. I has tried everything, hard and soft resets,
moved all programs, erased all data etc... Nothing worked. I telephoned my carrier O2, they advised to take it to Apple as they thought it maybe a hardware or
software issue.
On Wednesday i took my phone into Apple, spoke to the genesis bar guys, i told them my story, they tested the phone, I was advised by by genesis guy ( Mark- R313 )that is was most likely
a hardware issue, i stated that i thought it was a software issue, and that my phone was working fine until the new update was installed. He advised me that it would cost me 139 pounds for a replacement handset.
I advised him that i was upset that i had to pay this, but as i wanted my wifi working, and that i traveled a lot, i would take the apple offer. I remained polite and calm at all times.
Once the new( replacement handset) was set up, he surprised me by saying as there was no way to be sure it was not a hardware or software issue, that he would give me the new Iphone for free !!!!!
I was very taken back and naturally surprised. My phone was out of warranty, the genesis guy did not have to do this. THIS is unbelievable customer service, i was made so happy. My experience has made me
write this. To many people complain about poor service, but it is a wonderful experience to receive outstanding service like this. WELL DONE APPLE
