resetting doesn't work. i just keep getting a picture of the white USB cord, and an arrow pointing up to the iTunes logo on my screen. No matter what I do, it won't even sync with iTunes on my laptop. and when i try to update iTunes, it says it can't because there's an iPhone that is currently being recovered, and that needs to happen first. But it can't recover, because it needs the update.
