My phone is telling me to 'slide or dbl-tap' when I want to use it? Don't want this mode, pls help w settings!

You have turned VoiceOver on.  You will need to go to Settings>General>Accessibility>VoiceOver and turn it off.  However the gestures on your phone are different with this on.  You have to use three fingers to scroll, and to tap an icon once so select it, the double-tap it to activate it.  These are the steps you need to take to turn it off:

 

Press Home.Tap Settings. Then double-tap Settings.Tap General. Then double-tap General.Use three fingers on the screen to scroll to Accessibility.Tap Accessibility. Then double-tap Accessibility.Tap VoiceOver. Then double-tap VoiceOver.Tap "On" next to VoiceOver. Then double-tap "On" to turn it off.
