MMS America and rest of world iPhone

Oooh look - another thread started about MMS...
What marketing mistake is that then? Iphones have flying off the shelves with no MMS since the first one came out. I dont need MMS - if you do buy something else.
Still cant get my head around why any phone manufacturer is somehow obliged to provide a feature if the product sells perfectly well without it. If its such a dealbreaker, iPhones would be gathering dust in shops and warehouses worldwide wouldnt they?

See, this is exactly what I am talking about. You dont need it because you probably never used it or never had it included into your plan.
What if I were to sell you a phone without calendar or SMS support, would you buy it ! Sure you could find people who dont need sms or calendar, but then have a look around you all the other manufacturer support MMS. The last phone Ive had with no MMS support was my old NOKIA 3210 back in early 2000.

Boooorriiiiingggggg now - so very boring!, dude - buy another phone - i like not having MMS - that used to cost me, now all my friends are used to me e-mailing piccys - that does not cost me - do the math dude!

First talking about Americans not wanting or using it is just wrong. Tons do and yes I did too in the past. And you know what, I am happy the iPhone doesnt have it. MMS doesnt have a standard. While yes all phones as you say have it, due to no standard not all phones can receive an MMS for every other type of phone or carrier out there. That is why it *****. I coulnt send pics or video to all my friends becuase not all had either the same brand/quality of phone or had a carrier with limits.
E-Mail IS a standard. I can send to anybody that can check email (as I recall my RAZR, Sony Ericsson, and Nokias I had could check email but a pain to setup with terrible OS). And guess what, if their phone cannot read the type of file sent, it is STILL in their email to check later at home as opposed to being lost forever to the non standards of MMS.
Everybody knew the iPhone did not have MMS before it was ever sold. So if MMS is important to you, then buying it puts the onus on you.
With 11 updates to the iPhone since it came out, it is clear they dont care about ever adding it.

You are right, compatibility issue used to be a problem but not anymore ! Most of the time you can resize the picture to make it more old-pone friendly !
And no I dont agree with all of you, I love the Iphone its a great phone that does almost everything I want. I wouldnt care buying a ferrari even if it did not have airbags, because the whole thing is about buying a ferrari not the airbags!!But still, missing the airbags on such an expensive car would be a problem !
I also do not agree with the statement that a market mistake automatically leads to no sales. The Iphone lacks MMS, OK, but it has so many other great features that still makes it the **** of a great phone, this is why people still buy it !
What I dont like is that Apple simply removes a features simply beacuse they believe email is better! What would you say if the print option was removed from Microsoft Word simply because Microsoft thinks you have to read your email on the screen,instead of print them!?
