iTunes wont recognize iPhone 3G

I just got a new 3G iPhone over the weekend and had this problem from the get-go. I already had the latest iTunes 9.0 but it wouldnt recognize my phone (had to activate it on another computer with older itunes). I tried troubleshooting the problem following all these steps http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/itunes/#section_7
Only thing that worked was deleting and re-installing iTunes but soon as turned my comp off and tried again later I got the same results. Now when I plug in my iPhone it only shows up in iPhoto. Any help? Apple?

I already had the latest iTunes 9.0 but it wouldnt recognize my phoneThe latest version is 9.1.1. 9.0 may not work with the latest iPhone OS (3.1.3).
