I got my iPhone 4 wet and it shut down and I am tryiny to restore it but iTunes on my iMac mid 2010 does not recognize my device. Help....It is charging and tells me to restore it using iTunes. I do not know if it is a CDMA or GSM. It tells me i cannot make calls with it till it is restored.

Try to put it in DFU Mode and see if it'll detect it that way:

 

-Plug your phone into the computer and open iTunes

-Hold down Power for 3 sec.

-Continue holding Power and press/hold down Home for 10 sec.

-Release Power and continue holding Home for another 8-10 sec.

 

ITunes will detect your phone is in DFU Mode and ask you to restore.

 

***FYI, In DFU Mode, your screen will be black.  It is not the same as the Restore Image (iTunes w/ plug).
