Itunes Podcast App iPhone 3G

I downloaded the podcast app. Normally I listen to podcasts to which I have subscribed by pressing the Music icon / more / podcasts. However, after downloading the podcasts app, many old podcasts now appear. I do not see a way to delete them. When I sync to my computer they still remain. How do I get rid of the old previously heard podcasts.

you shoudl be able to hit EDIT to the red minus sign

There is no red minus sign, there is no edit menu option and sliding the finger across the title does not produce the red minus sign as it does with emails.

you should i just looked at mine and i have an edit and by mistake its a black X
