I dropped my iphone 4 a few months back and the top right corner of my phone screen has a crack. To add to my woes a few weeks ago my screen lock button just stopped working. Its jammed. I can't press it because it is too tight . I haven't switched off my phone in weeks now and I used the settings to change the timings to lock my phone faster.
I went to the Apple store and they told me they cannot do anything about the lock button because of the crack on my screen.
They would have replaced my phone for free had it not been for the crack on my screen . They said that I need to pay 140$ and they will give me a new iPhone 4.I dont think that's fair. What are my options?
My 2 year contract is up with AT&T and I am now contemplating taking the Galaxy S3 as a result of my experience at the Apple store.
You physically damaged your phone. The warranty is void.
It's completely fair.
Go ahead a get a Galaxy... break it, then try to get them to replace it under warranty... see how far you get with that.
Not exactly the response I was looking for but then I guess I am dealing with an Apple fan boy.
In any case does it make sense to take the replacement? Will I still get the "mythical" iPhone 5 at a the normal rate sans upgrade fees since my 2 year contract is up?
You're dealing with a realist.
You will get the exact same model you turn in as a replacement.
Yes I understand I will get the iPhone 4 as replacement but I am asking when the iPhone 5(or whatever they decide to call it) is revealed can I still get an upgrade to it sans any upgrade fees since my 2 year contract is up.
I'm not sure what you mean by upgrade fee, and this doesn't seem to be related to the original issue. Do you mean will Apple replace an older phone with a newer model for free? I very much doubt it. If they do I will be the first in line to have them replace my G4 Mac with a free MacBook Pro Retina.

Reply something about Iphone 4 screen lock button not working and Apple will not replace it because top right corner of my screen has small crack or Post a New Thread
