My iPhone, for no reason at all, suddenly demanded to be restored by being hooked up to my computer. Unfortunately my computer was 400 miles away, and the nearest Apple store was at least 150 miles away. (If Im at home with my computer I dont need a cell phone, dig? I have a land line.) When I did get back home and took all this to the Genius Bar and plugged the phone into the computer it refused to restore and demanded its SIM PIN. Which neither I nor anyone else knew, and no one knew how to find out, but what they did know is how to circumvent this wall. When I complained of all this, the tech guy said, This (the phone) is a computer, not a phone, and all computers do this. (Break at random, I guess.) If you want to reliably have a cell phone, you need a different cell phone in addition to this one. Im afraid hes right.
This is a toy, not a tool. Its wonderful fun when it works, but I wouldnt advise any professional to rely on it to be able to, you know, make phone calls.
