Reset the phone (no data loss): press both the home and on/off buttons for 10-30 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

 

If nothing happens, connect to the AC charger for 30 minutes and repeat the reset if needed.

Did you manage to make it all the way to the 2nd sentence of my post?  In the 3 minutes it took you to post, you couldn't have done what I suggested!
