IPhone unlock from AT T Not working

People who have jailbroken their phone at some point are experiencing this difficulty.  Restoring a jailbroken phone does not always restore the phone to factory condition.  If this is your case, there's nothing you can do to unlock that phone.  You've ruined it by jailbreaking.

There is no unlock code, simply connect the device via iTunes and if it has been authorized to be unlocked it will unlock.

AT&T says that it is unlock from them, but still if i connect my IPhone to iTunes it says."The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported."

So i am not sure, if it really got unlock. AT&T had closed my case ID too that they did what they can and its approved also from them.

Do i need to use carried AT&T sim only while connecting to iTunes go get it unlock. or i can connect any sim to get it unlock or whether I should be in USA with AT&T sim only to get it unlock.
