I am a proud and (mostly) happy owner of an iPhone, a Macbook and a Mobileme account. About 90% of what I want to use this technology for is successfully accomplished, however, I have some problems, concerns and questions about improvements; i.e. Why doesnt this exist yet?
Even though this forum is the iPhone forum, I am posting some issues with other products here because they are interrelated. I am looking for suggestions for fixes/work-a-rounds, or for someone to point me in the right direction to find what I need.
iPhone (3G - White):
Apps:
1) Safari Crashing
From time to time Safari will crash, any fix for this?
2) Apps in general Crashing (New York Times)
The New York Times app is terrible in this regard. I can read entire articles sometimes, and then others I cant get passed the first paragraph. Any fixes anyone knows about? (it is updated)
Suggested improvements (again, why dont these exist?):
3) Allow an iDisk interface
4) Over the Air syncing with mobile me for contacts, iCal etc.
Where should I post my suggestions, or does nobody care?
Email:
5) Be able to send email to contact groups by typing in the name of the group in the To: field on the iPhone.
Calling:
6) Going straight to voice mail, this happens quite often and happens when I have perfect signal
Now this is an issue that Im pretty sure Im going to have to take to an ATT store but I want to post here to see if anyone else is experiencing this. I am mainly in the Detroit to Ann Arbor Michigan areas and very often I get text messages from my friends stating that they cannot get a hold of me that my phone is going directly to voice mail. Any workarounds? fixes?
-- Note --
I have perfect signal when this occurs
I think this is a similar issue: I will get several text messages all at once that are backdated several hours sometimes up to a day old. This occurs no matter who I am receiving the text message from (Sprint, ATT etc.)
7) 3G Coverage in Ann Arbor
In Ann Arbor, I cannot use 3G, period. If I have 3G enabled, my phone is a brick. The signal indicator on my phone states that I have perfect signal, but my phone literally is a brick. As soon as I disable 3G my phone is perfectly functional using the Edge system. Any explanation or similar experience?
I think I will post this section in the Mobile Me forum, but some are interrelated.
Mobile Me:
Web client interface:
1) Slow
2) Be able to send to groups by typing the group name in the To: field
3) Error often comes up saying folder has been deleted or moved, but nothing like that is happening.
4) Outgoing mail will fail to send, frequently
iDisk:
5) Uploads are going to be slow, provide an application that will keep track of the upload or syncing in progress and will ensure its success. I often begin an upload/sync of 700-800 mb and it will fail and Ill have to start over.
6) Allow an iDisk interface on the iPhone.
And, needless to say: Highlight, Cut, Copy and Paste please!

Given the problems you are experiencing I would definitely make a Genius Bar appointment and take your iPhone to the Apple Store, you are experiencing too many problems with reception to just be a software issue (I am assuming you have Reset, Reset your network settings, and Restored your iphone). If you are unable to use 3G your phone is going to voice mail because you are accessing data when they are calling, using 3G will solve this problem. You should be able to sync your contacts, iCal entries over the air with MobileMe, if it isnt that leads back to either a problem with your MobileMe account or your iphone.

First I would like to thank both of you for responding, but, I know full well this is a user-to-user forum, that was the reason I posted here...
Deggie, Im inclined to agree I need to make an appointment and get these problems looked at, I would prefer not doing that though...
To be clear, I wanted to post what I posted, not to get apples attention, but to ask if anyone has been having similar experiences.
To clarify, I get full and clear 3g reception with full functionality of my phone almost everywhere. In one small area (what I would assume is one cell towers sphere) it appears that I have perfect 3G signal, but in fact my phone is a brick unless I disable 3G. This issue is not connected with many calls going directly to voice mail and text messages piling up and coming all at once sometimes a day late.
Again, just curious if anyone has had any similar problems.
