Iphone Overheated and died

Ok so we were going on vacation and my iphone was on the dash for a while and i think it overheated. It was above 50% battery and locked when it was up there but it wouldnt turn on. I pluged it into the car charger when i went to use it and the apple logo came up for like 30 sec and the camara led flashed and then nothing. The screen just went black and when i plug it into the computer nothing. Itunes doesnt even relize i pluged my phone in and the phone doesnt even show up in my computer on windows as a camara. My phone has overheated before but there was a warning on the screen but this is a whole different story. Is it possible that something was fried internally by the heat or what.
