iPhone Not Charging after Software Update 3G

My iphone wont charge all of sudden. All I did was the new update on the 3g phone. But it will charge using the standard cable it shipped with plus my OLD iphone plug in piece. Its just the little square plug in that isnt working. The phone is only three weeks old. I tried soft reset and that didnt work. Ideas?
g5,g4 laptop,ipods, old macs in closet Mac OS X (10.4.10)

What about the NEW iphone Plug in piece, or the USB port of the computer?
There have been a few other reports of failure to charge, and most have
resolved themselves (mysteriously) after leaving it plugged in to computers
for a really long time, or after a hard reset.
I havent seen any one post that a restore fixed this, so I wouldnt rush into that.
