iPhone library never matches iTunes library 3G

Reply Topic When I connect my iPhone, I tunes acts like its a foreign device and the library of the iphone is grayed out. Sometimes when I start iTunes, it is empty as well because it keeps pointing to the old directory where I kept my libraries. I now keep my library on an external drive, we will call it F: and itunes always points back to C: Once i get the library to show back in iTunes, the phone library is gray and I cant change the files. I have to completely reinstall all the music. The apps seem to SYNC, but even then, it thinks they are completely new even though they have been on the iPhone before. Any ideas?

2009-11-13 13:19:02 The iPhones list of music should be grayed out, unless you have Manually Manage... checked on the summary tab. If its unchecked and you check it, youll be warned that al your content on the phone will be deleted - thats normal when you turn on manual management.

2009-11-13 13:19:02 I have it set to manually manage music and its still grey. It basically thinks my iPhone is a different library than my iTunes. I have my external pointed to in the preferences > advanced tab in itunes. For some reason it seems like my apps are all on my C drive still but the music is on F:. What is the best way for me to consolidate all my itunes related files to reside on my external drive so it never touches my C drive. Old PC with very little space on C drive.
