I have been having a recurring problem since Thanksgiving. For no reason, my iphone will die. The battery is not dead, but it will not turn on. The only way I can get it to turn on is holding the Home button and the on/off button at the same time (I think its called a hard reset). Anyway, each time I do that it takes longer and longer to get the Apple back. I took it to the Apple store on Friday. They told me I just needed to download the latest update. The employee told me he had the same issue with his phone and this fixed it. So he downloaded the update for me and I went on my way. Then Saturday morning the same thing happened again, it completely died and I had to reset it. And again this morning. Is anyone else having these issues? Is there any way to resolve it? Thank you!

I have not experienced the same.
If no change after restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhones backup and/or as a new iPhone or not from your iPhones backup, make another appointment at the Apple store since this is not normal.

I think you need to restore your iPhone as new, i.e. without installing your backup. Youll then have a factory fresh iPhone with the latest firmware. Youll lose texts, settings, etc. and youll need to re-setup you email, contacts, etc.

I did that the first time it happened around Thanksgiving. Ill try it again tonight and report back tomorrow. Thanks.

hi, i had the extact same happen to me yesterday, i totally freaked as it died when i was getting directions to my friends house on my phone! it completley died but i have done the same as you and updated the software and it seems to be ok but i lost loads of apps that i had paid for but not backed up....do you know how to get these back? it concerns me alot that it keeps happening on your phone....my phone is only 4 months old :S
